I swear I'll post more weapons here sometime. But it's hard because my weapon database looks like this
Which is hard to move to Tumblr

The thing about Analysis is that no one has a perfect understanding of any piece of fiction - especially not something as dense, intricate, storied, and personal as Homestuck - so the appeal of Analysis is half in the information itself and half in the character of the Analyst.
No Analyst is ever going to be 100% correct, all the time, forever. Especially not incontestably so. I've definitely posted things that are either wrong or I just do not agree with nowadays. People evolve. Realizations are had. Thoughts, feelings, interests, personal politics, beliefs, times, and lives change, and therefore so does the lens in which the Analyst is viewing their media of choice.
Analysis is a Conversation more than it is a Definite Relaying of Facts. It is an evolving dialogue. It isn't comparable to a pure, mechanical summary of a plot or character thread, it is an Art Form. People stick by an Artist because they enjoy their Style - an intangible little thing, also constantly in flux, sometimes in minute ways and sometimes in drastic ways, as the Artist continues to hone their craft, and live the life they've been given. Same rules apply to Analysis. I just use words as a brush and a pre-existing piece of fiction as my canvas to express what I, in the moment, believe to be truths, and what I, in the moment, feel, and what I, in the moment, think is worth talking about. These things can change after a decade, a year, a month, a week, a day, an hour.
Analysts do not think or talk about fiction while seeing them as rigid mathematical equations that can be definitively solved. They do not view fiction through cold, robotic eyes, seeing only hard facts and definite truths. An Analyst does not necessarily see an indisputable "correct way" to read a piece of fiction, either. They are viewing art through a lens infinitely warped, and scratched, and colored and recolored by who they are as a person and what their circumstances are. Your favorite Analyst's read of a piece of fiction is deeply revealing of who they are as a person, what they find important, what they've been through, their politics, et cetera.
But that's all obvious, isn't it? That an Artist's work is personal. We all get caught up in our opinions on how right or wrong we are as people. And that's all fair play - it's to be expected when you post your feelings on the Internet. But not enough love is given to the fact that this is Art, too.
The humble Essay on Fiction is just as soul-bearing as a Poem or a Painting. How beautiful that is.
#not skulker#sorry for reblogging from a homestuck blog onto my skulker analysis blog but#this post really resonated with me about what i'm doing on this blog#skulker is WAY less complicated than homestuck#and one of the least misunderstood characters in the danny phantom fandom#but considering the danny phantom fandom that isnt sayinf much at all.#anyways. yea

A Glitch In Time Made Skulker A Cannibal
In Life Lessons, Skulker has a cage of ghosts, and talks about planning on feasting on one of them for dinner.
Here's the specific ghost he's looking at when he says that.
Meanwhile several years later in A Glitch In Time, it's established that ectopi used to be human.
Notice any similarities?
Tentacles. Jagged mouth. Even the lines under the eyes of Skulker's "dinner" resemble that of the ectopus drawn in A Glitch In Time, as well as the ectopi shown in the first episode of the show, Mystery Meat.
While the tentacles may be more realistic and less wispy, this does seem a lot more like an ectopus to me than a normal ghost octopus. It's the mouth that's most notable to me-- a real octopus's mouth is on its underside, and the specific placement (and jaggedness) of the mouth is what causes me to identify this blobby ghost as specifically an ectopus.
In conclusion, the comic A Glitch In Time retconned Skulker into being a cannibal. Or is it a cannibal when the thing you're eating has existed so long it's lost its humanity? Does Skulker even care?
Seeing as his main goal in the show is to skin a human child and hang said child's pelt up on his wall, I sincerely doubt he cares in the slightest.
This is probably an accident, as I doubt the writers of the comic remembered this one specific moment from Life Lessons, but despite that, it is entirely in-character.

How do you get your clips to look HD? Do you have those files available to share or do you put the clips you need through an editing software before uploading it?
Pirated files which are weirdly HD. DM me for the link.

In Bitter Reunions, it's stated that Skulker designed the "spectral energy neutralizer," and Vlad paid for it.
It's a common fanon misconception that Vlad designed Skulker's suit and/or technology, but this is untrue. As we see in this scene, Skulker designs and makes his own technology and even technology for other people. Also, if Vlad designed Skulker's suit, either he would have been able to design the Spectral Energy Neutralizer himself, or Skulker would not have been able to design it.

Since my friend is rewatching Reign Storm, this post is about that episode! Specifically, Pariah's backstory, which fits here because Skulker was the one to give the exposition.
Transcript: "It was many years ago. Before you. Before me. Before most of us. His name was Pariah Dark. And he ruled the Ghost Zone. He was a ghost of such power and magnitude, only he could control the [entities? energies?]* contained within the Crown of Fire and the Ring of Rage. When wearing both, he could do anything. Until a group of powerful ancient ghosts banded together in a last-ditch effort to defeat the King. By locking him within the Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep. Or so we thought."
Facts that this reveals:
Skulker didn't appear in the Ghost Zone until after Pariah was defeated.
There may be entities within the Crown and Ring, but Skulker's voice isn't entirely clear on that part.
There is no such thing as "The Ancients." It was merely a group of powerful ancient ghosts- i.e. old ghosts. Since the story takes place a long time ago, it may just be a group of powerful ghosts. The entire concept of The Ancients is fanon, not canon.
Before Pariah's defeat, his Keep was at the top of a hill on a large landmass, with many other fortresses and walls around. After he was defeated, the rest of the landmass crumbled, leaving only the Keep and the small bit of rock it was on.
*It sounds way more like "entities", but "energies" makes more sense.
#danny phantom#skulker#pariah dark#fright knight#reign storm#dp lore#the ancients#this mention of pariah dark being before skulker is the one hint we get at how long skulkers been in the zone!#also the way skulker says the story very much gives the energy of an oral history that's been repeated and passed down verbatim for years

This isn't a very serious analysis post because I'm not functional enough for full analysis.
I was looking at KOBD fanart and was like "wait doesn't Skulker have that thing" (that thing being a rotary buffer) and then I looked for the scene I remembered and it's even more ridiculous than I remember. Why does he even have that thing.
So, yeah. Built-in rotary buffer!

BECAUSE IT IS MAKING ME SO EMOTIONAL.
THE MUSIC IS PLAYED WITH ONE SET OF INSTRUMENTS (normal) WHILE FOCUSED ON SKULKER. THEN ANOTHER SET OF INSTRUMENTS (digitized beeps and boops) WHILE FOCUSED ON TECHNUS. AND THEN- AND THEN!!! IT COMBINES AND BOTH OF THEM PLAY AT ONCE, AND THEY SOUND GOOD TOGETHER, THEY MIX PERFECTLY!!! AUGH!

This is a blog cataloguing every bit of Skulker, do you think I don't know that? That doesn't answer the question of why he sometimes flies under his own power in the mech suit, and sometimes uses thrusters.
Skulker is entirely capable of flying on his own, like most ghosts. However, usually he uses built-in rocket thrusters on his suit instead. Why is that?
I have a few possible theories.
He's heavy. Perhaps it takes extra effort for him to fly normally.
The rocket thrusters allow him to go faster, allowing him to catch up with his prey.
Maybe the wings make him more aerodynamic?
None of these theories are canon, of course. I'd love to hear what you guys think the in-universe explanation for this is!

In the Ultimate Enemy video game, Skulker's art in the Ghost Gallery is flipped horizontally compared to how he usually looks.
Here's Skulker in the show, for reference. In the show, his pauldron is on his left shoulder (the viewer's right when he's facing us) and that L-shaped panel is on his right shoulder (the viewer's left when he's facing us.)

Ya know I lose my mind every time I look at Skulker ‘cause it’s almost badass. And I’m not talking about the fact that he’s really a jelly bean in a suit- no, just the suit in general. For example, shots of him from this angle look great.
Big buff imposing robo-skeleton guy with a mohawk made of fire. Sounds great. Looks great, too.
Not as cool of an angle, but the gist is still there. You don’t wanna fuck with this dude or he will squash you like a bug. But there’s one thing that ruins that image for me. And that thing is his fucking legs.
They are so tiny. He got baby legs. A stiff breeze would be able to knock this idiot over. And in case anyone thinks this is a rare occurrence, guess again.
Sir your legs aren’t even half the length of your arms.
And my personal favorite, which is a cap from his debut episode.
Honestly everything proportion wise is weird here but his fucking baby legs.
He’s built like a fucking bulldog.

in the first 5 episodes of danny phantom, most ghosts are semi-transparent...
...with the exception of skulker and technus.
if it were just skulker who was opaque in these episodes i'd be like "oh it's because of his robot body" but no, his blob form is also opaque, and technus is also opaque. why are skulker and technus more solid than the other ghosts?
they gave up on the transparency gimmick after episode 5 so we'll never really find out.
