Back in the last century, the bitchy girl gang from the local private school used to call us “Kmart kids”
How funny that it is probably them making TikTok videos about how amazing Kmart is.
Hmmm
#bitch isn’t a slur in Australia#many self identify as a bitch#and they’re not all women either#I should know#I work in a male dominated industry

So I am a little shaken today.
The street collectors are out and about again .
I don’t want to talk to them.
I don’t want to give perfect strangers my personal details.
I am polite and say “No, thank you” every time. And I am getting rude responses.
I don’t want to engage with these people at all. I want to report them, I want the charities held accountable for this behaviour.
They have the right to accost strangers but I don’t have the right to be going about my business without being harassed.
Any charity that uses these people will never get a red cent off me.

So China has space craft commentators! Much rather hear about the guts of a rocket 🚀 than hearing about a bloke in tight shorts kicking a pigskin around.
Space is awesome, I will watch launches, I will absorb everything about it. I am after all a child of Voyager 1 and 2. But I am sick of the tubes and the major platforms. Sick of the constant attention seeking of scam ads and fake people. So what to do?
Gresham College. In the UK. Founded in the 16th century. It’s old. So old. But they have a library of lectures from past and present professors. Pretty much professors of any subject to your liking.
This is only the beginning of my desperate search for decent, meaty lectures. I was listening to Dr Chris Linott and Dr Katherine Blundell over the weekend, while sewing.
I would recommend them, if you’re into astronomy. And that’s astronomy 🔭 with telescopes and kelvins.
The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has also got an interesting series of lectures on sustainable fisheries on the Tubes. Unfortunately I couldn’t find it on their website. Yes, I probably should mention I am into Marine Science too. Oh, and deserts. But I haven’t found anything on that yet.
I am on a mission though, and if I find something, I’ll link it.

So- silly me, posted my skirt before trying it on. It was insanely long. It was still long when I wore it as a dress.
So a strapless dress it will be. Which is another issue… I wear crop tops in lieu of a bra. Hate bras, won’t wear them.
What I will do is wear a t-shirt underneath and wear my red stretchy belt. I think Docs and a jacket will pull the whole thing off.
Or I can manipulate a scarf around the top and wear as is. The possibilities are endless.
Right now, I am preparing the next pattern and it is all nicely laid out on the sewing table. On the portable ironing board. My joint is small my friends, it is small.
#going on and on about fabric#now for the next one#it’s grey but I am making very colourful accessories

Adelaide is the capital and largest city of South Australia, with around 1.4 million inhabitants. Founded in 1836 as a planned capital, its design features a city center in a grid layout, interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded by parklands. The River Torrens can be seen flowing through the middle of the city in the Overview.

I hate when people ask me how long it took me to crochet something I’ve made. Frankly, that’s none of my business. I put the yarn on the hook and worked on it whenever the spirit happened to take me to and then one day it was done. How long that process took is between the yarn and god; I want no part of it.

Fabric. I love these fabrics. I know I am slow with making clothes. I know, I know, I know. Don’t get me wrong, I do plan out what I do as in the tablecloth skirt but as I am working I think “ I like this so much, I will add another one.”
Or the knitted hat. It was frogged because I thought adding the rib later would work better. And I made a mistake with not keeping track of my decreases properly. Got into “too” much of a flow state.
At the moment, I am making clothes so I don’t have to make any for a while. This is why I am choosing Japanese patterns because they will accommodate my older aged needs. So that no one forces me into polyester tracksuits that pill and itch and make me cry.
Maybe I could use my super to pay someone to make me clothes in the future 🤔
I will stop going on and on. Here are the cute sweet fabrics.

#washed and neatly folded at the laundry#damn it I will wear bright colours when I’m a granny#ageing the way I wished I teenaged-ed

always fascinated by which things people assume are unique to their culture and which they assume are universal. listening to an australian podcast right now and they are very confident that nobody will understand that 'cozzie' is short for 'swimming costume' and explain it every time it comes up, but they give zero information about swooping season because surely everyone gets attacked by birds for like a month a year
#does everyone get swooped by birds one month a year#Australian slang is hard for Australians to pinpoint#plenty of people learn our form of English via home and away#and mafs
