Over a year of drawing and working with author and the publisher, today the final tweak was approved for the proof book to be printed. My best friend died four years ago tomorrow. I painted this in February, 2015. This is called, “Dani HeArt”. I had just moved to LA. I got married. She attended my wedding. A few months later, I saw her on the cold hospital bed, flipping me off. I held her tight. Lifeless. I missed her by 33 minutes. Her step mom was laughing as I did so...why? I asked what was so funny? I held her body tight. Her hand lay still with her middle finger up. I still... didn’t laugh. I didn’t attend her funeral. I said my goodbyes as I held her body tight.
