the whole “heartstopper isn’t realistic” argument is so stupid to me because everyone who says that has clearly not been able to understand the show/comics correctly. you have charlie literally fainting because he’s not eating enough, you have nick doubting himself because he doesn’t know how to help one of the people he cares the most about, you have elle experiencing identity issues surrounding her current life and friendships, you have tara having self esteem issues because her girlfriend is kind of giving her the silent treatment, you have darcy hiding from her friends the literal hell she’s going through in her house, you have isaac experiencing his sexuality awakening alone because he feels he can’t trust his friends, you have imogen literally going through another sexuality awakening after being heartbroken two times, and finally, you have tori literally at the brink of tears in every scene because of depression. heartstopper IS realistic. you are just too obsessed with drugs and over sexualisation of teenagers. grow up.

Everyone talks about Nick and Charlie, but can we digress for just a bit to talk about Tao and Charlie? The friendship that these boys have is beautiful. No one quite understands them the way they understand each other, their hidden pain, their insecurities, the things that make them who they are. Most other characters in the show/book are still learning those things about Tao and Charlie, but the two of them are already at that deep level of connection. That bedrock of longstanding loyalty is what allows them to be vulnerable with each other, to support each other, to ask for forgiveness when needed, to protect each other. It's why, when Nick is worried about Charlie, he asks Tao for advice. It's why, when Tao is at his lowest point of fear about losing Elle and guilt about accidentally outing Charlie, he can go to Charlie for comfort and support. It's why, despite everything that happens to change them, they're still Tao and Charlie.

May we all have a fierce protector like Tao and a loving supporter like Charlie in our lives.

Also, Charlie and Tao hugs are literally life-giving.

I'm sorry if this isn't 100% cool and inclusive or whatever but I actually don't think every single post about asexuality has to cater to every single type of asexual

Like if sex-repulsed aces want to make jokes about not liking sex and being super virgins they should be able to do that without someone commenting "not all aces"

And if sex-favorable aces want to discuss their experiences with having sex while asexual they should have space to do that without their identity being questioned

There's a lot of us here and most of society judges all of us pretty harshly so we should do our best to make space for each other and let all of us express our asexuality in whatever way is best for us
