hpjminho:
1. eight letters, down: deprived of a loved one
answer: B E R E A V E D
growing up never quite fulfils the promise it makes to starry-eyed youths. minho remembers the days when him, sojin and junghyun were thrust into the harsh environment of high society. he remembers wandering eyes looking up to the sky, where the distant plane he used to chase in his youth would pass by and leave him with a bittersweet aftertaste.
[...]
There was a rosy-cheeked visage on the windows of her favorite upscale diner, lit up by dim, almost nostalgic lights. The vision seems ageless in her eagerness; her blossoming cheeks blooming as if in spring, as she waited for the arrival of her favorite people, a pair of sturdy pillars that held up her very world.
Once a month; Sojin likes to think she receives the best anti-aging treatment a grown woman like herself could hope to obtain, a lone salvation to her dwindling youth. In fact, as Sojin admires the tiny smile her reflection dons like a precious secret, she could almost believe she was indeed not getting any older.
Almost.
There was a huff of weariness as her phone buzzes with a familiar ringtone. “Yes, mother?” Sojin murmurs, her voice prim and light. But in the realm of her reflection, the rosiness of spring dims to the barrenness of winter; and Sojin is left with lines between the plains of her eyebrows.
“You made a good choice in choosing Minho, Sojin.” Her mother says icily, foregoing greetings, and Sojin is left with trying to catch up to the elder’s thinking, as always. “I’m sure, mother.” Sojin replies carefully, treading cautiously on the iciness of her mother’s tone. “May I ask why you agree with me so?”
Her mother’s voice didn’t soften. Instead, it hardened, curved itself into sharp spikes of punishing ice. “Junghyun perished as a hero for our country. Needless to say, he is no longer an appropriate suitor.”
It pierces her; the sharpness, and Sojin’s breath freezes with the injury, catching at her throat as her eyes snap up, focusing on the approaching Minho as he nears their diner, replacing her barren image in the window with that of his bright eyes.
There was only a ring tone at her ear, hollowing and uncaring; that continued to ring even after she puts her phone away.
And through the haze, Sojin is faced with Minho’s concern, punctuated by a soft heartbeat under her freezing palms, Sojin could imagine that she could see his bare heart on display, soft and bleeding like always. And for once, Sojin doesn’t know what to say, for there’s no desire to swing harsh words down on on his exposed heart like the sword of an executioner.
(Perhaps, she shouldn’t articulate it at all. Would it not be as real then? Perhaps if she pretends that the phone call never happened, Junghyun would then walk in with his sheepish grin and dirty army boots –)
Slowly, Sojin swallows the lump in her throat before slowly disentangling from Minho’s warm ones, as if depriving herself of his comforting warmth. All of the sudden, the world just didn’t seem right, as if in the span of a blink the world re-arranged itself into something incomprehensible, so much so that even Minho’s warm, large hand, so full of crevices and callouses that she knew by heart, mind and soul became foreign; almost forbidden.
But she is lost and yet she withdraws from him, even as every increment away from his outstretched hand leaves her chest hollow, cold and aching – for Junghyun is colder than she, and shall be forever more.
“I’m sorry.” Sojin tries, even though she doesn’t know how.
(Perhaps she was more like her mother than she liked to admit, for Sojin didn’t know whether she was relieved or disgusted at the steadiness of her voice.)
“Junghyun is dead.” She says with numb lips, and although she tried to keep her words soft; soothing, her timbre shook them both like claps of thunder.

Papa was a rolling stone
@hpjevan
The leisurely musk forms a warm but foreign embrace.
Tartness and languid huskiness permeates, waxes and wanes like a poet’s full moon; before it settles upon treasures yet undiscovered, and mayhaps never will. Perhaps that is the allure; that such rare gifts, more fulfilling than riches are reserved for the hunter alone, should you sharpen your ears like you would your fangs, and dare to consume something much more substantial than mere food.
The smell is intimate, yet not. Nostalgic, yet alien all the same.
Yes; Sojin doesn’t know what kind of otherworldly force possessed her to step foot into a run-down record store like this one, but for this act of miracle Sojin would gladly convert to it, and not a single question will be asked.
As she walks through the aisles, wraith-like fingertips tracing the sharp edges of records like Sleeping Beauty would her spindle, searching for a remnant of her teenage-hood as if she had lost it in the first place, Sojin supposes she thought she would find solace here in Hapjeong; in an old record store filled with the heavy soul of wise musicians, hoping to find her own.
But alas, it was never meant to be. Sojin had been too far to tell before, but now she sees it as light as day: the boy behind the counter with model-like cheekbones was undoubtedly Park Jaehyung. His hair may be rocker-esque blonde now, but there was really no way to hide good genetics.
(At this point Sojin wonders why she even bothers to hire private investigators, when she’s apparently quite adapt at finding her clients herself.)
Unbidden, Sojin thinks back onto the case file on her desk, and dwells upon the greying, weary smile that accompanied it. Oh, the resemblance is astonishingly uncanny: blood is indeed thicker than the distance that separates it, that much is always true. Children always catch themselves acting like their parents one day.
She approaches the counter with a random trot record in her hand, and as she nears, Sojin wonders how one would feel to see your progeny once again; to gaze into eyes that are so achingly similar to that of yours? Yes, how would it feel to see the eyes of a stranger’s staring back? Or worse, looking away at some distant thing you can’t even fathom?
But no, there was unmistakable youth in the softness of Jaehyung’s features, and upon seeing that, Sojin forgets to wonder if Jaehyung’s father ever considered the possibility of seeing a stranger again. She forgets to wonder if Jaehyung’s mother had a reason for leaving, having perhaps caught a glimpse of her husband’s inner demons. She forgets to wonder if Jaehyung’s mother brought Jaehyung to America just to cover his eyes with wool, but Sojin did remember to ponder this: Would Jaehyung want to take the wool off instead?
(Either way, Sojin hardens her heart, and forcibly distances herself from all the aimless wondering: the age-old custody dispute was filed for Jaehyung’s mother. There was no need to waste time pondering about the young, yet perplexingly tired features of Park Jaehyung.)
“Hello.” Sojin settles for the tried-and-true, universal greeting, smoothly placing the record on top of the counter. “Pardon my boldness, but could your name be Park Jaehyung?”
Sojin hesitates, but she plunge forward away, her voice imploring. “I know you may be of age, but could I perhaps speak to your mother?”

Intro + plot call!
Hello the talented writers of Hapjeong! I go by Tia and I’m beside myself to have an opportunity to rp with you guys *throws confetti on everyone*! My timezone happens to be the complete opposite to some of you guys all the way on the other side of the world, so please forgive any late messages! Thank you so much to the awesome people who have already welcomed me; it really made my day! ;w;
Please like the post or message me if you’d like to plot with Sojin or just to chat (OuOb) Here’s some Sojin tidbits and plot ideas underneath the cut!
-          Sojin is a seasoned lawyer preparing to go into the Korean politics arena
-          She owns a private law firm that gets a lot of high profile cases (though in the past in her climb in lawyer ranks [before she opened her own law firm] she also took many government supported cases)
-          Her family (Park) is heavily involved in Korean politics (her father used to be a lawyer but now acts as secretary for the current presidential party)
-          The Park family and the Choi family are long-time friends (and for anyone who may be ??? about Sojin and Minho’s relationship, it’s very very platonic in nature – their parents want them to marry but they’re like siblings to each other.)
-          So… she’s currently single and ready to mingle – in fact, due to a lot of pressure from her family she is actively on the prowl… (hmu if you want to discuss this!)
-          Because of the strict way Sojin is raised, she’s very no-nonsense, up-with-the-sun, workaholic type of person
-          She’s witty and can be a little condescending sometimes (don’t argue with her, she’s petty enough to bring out the big guns)
-          Empathetic but doesn’t want to be – as a lawyer (also partly how she was raised) it’s much easier to go about life without many emotional attachments; no need to worry about your conscience if you don’t have one, right? (unfortunately Sojin cannot take her own advice>>)
-          Junhyun (NPC) who was one of her closest friends died not very long ago from his life in the military – really hammered home to Sojin how fleeting life really is
Some (kinda crappy; but ya know…it’s me so ><) plot ideas!
-          Got into some trouble and need a lawyer/legal advice? Well, there’s always Sojin – though you’ll end up with either a wallet in the negatives or owing a few (somehow never-ending) favors that you might regret
-          It would be great for Sojin to make some friends that can fulfill an inner desire of hers to rebel from the strict way she was raised (need a bit of plotting because Sojin is typically not the type to go out and find ‘friends’ *strokes her sadly*)
-          Your habits/living conditions are atrocious (smoking, take-away food w/ no nutrition) Sojin’s not usually one to care, but she’ll make exceptions this time  (aaand the next… and the next)
-          (aka. Need tsundere mothering? Call Sojin)
Quick plots!
-          You’re standing outside in the pouring rain and you don’t have an umbrella – should you ask the woman next to you? Maybe not….
-          What’s really the deal with Sojin and Minho? They say they’re not ‘really’ dating but….
-          Sojin loves growing plants (that are practical in the way that she can consume it), maybe you do too? Or perhaps you’ve ruined one of her chilli plants and need to figure out how to get of this hole you’ve dug yourself (no pun intended)
(omg I can’t do plots wth)
Yeah! So that’s it for Sojin! Thank you for reading thus far ahahah ;w; Once again, if you awesome writers would like to plot and write with rusty old me, feel free to hmu!
