On a post made by @eiramew (the source of the BEST Maya art ever) about disability in Destiny, I said the following about an event that reminded me of how beautiful the Traveler’s philosophy was in defeating the argument that survival of the most fit and selfishness was not only natural, but the only way things should be.

And reading the Implement of Curiosity lore tab… oh. My. God.

III, the member of the Nine who thought to bring Light to Sol, who learned to love humanity and saw their potential to prosper because of their able to cooperate, out of love instead of advantage, it witnessed the event I was speaking of!! And it changed it!! It saw proof against the Winnower’s argument and it moved it to love, just as human’s loved!

Humans seek to optimize, but we are so much more than that and III saw it. It saw the children of Earth like the Traveler saw it’s own children, as ends onto themselves that were worth everything and more, not because of their strength or longevity, but because of the meaning they could find existing with others.

This lore tab means everything. We are much more than what we can do to dominate others and fulfill ourselves. We are the people that caused III to care so deeply about life, that it would use its dying breath to try and protect us. We got here not as dominating individuals, but together, as a garden that allowed itself to bloom simply because we wanted to see each other grow.

This means everything to me and it should mean a lot to the Winnower whose argument doesn’t hold against people who make sounds just to hear others laugh.
