I cannot do anything with a dancer--and I include myself--if the mind is not as conditioned, as limber, as obedient as the body. The body reveals what the mind is doing, where it is going, what it loves. The world reveals to you what you most want, and the conditioned mind heads toward what it most needs. Think and respond intelligently. If you entertain the notion of limitation or failure, it will rest comfortably in your company, and it will become a familiar location. I am not talking about the failure of risk: I am talking about the failure of imagination; the failure of faith. No one is looking at you; no one cares what you are doing. Get over this vain sense of observation and devote yourself to life and to others and to your work. You have no audience yet, but you have your soul and your fate, hovering overhead to see how you're going to husband both." ~ Martha Graham/Interview with James Grissom/1990

Happy Earth Day: celebrate by getting clean water in to Gaza!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(via unrwa): “Gaza: access to water is extremely limited and sanitary structures are insufficient to meet people's needs. Gaza's water supply remains at only 7 per cent of its pre-October 2023 levels.”
Gaza has been in a water crisis for months now, there is virtually no clean/drinkable/accessible water due to Israel’s occupation and siege.
With the summer months approaching, the temperatures in Gaza are rising (it will be nearly 40 celsius there this week) and the lack of viable water is going to continue to cause extreme destruction.
Here are some orgs to donate to that are getting water into Gaza/working on making water in Gaza accessible:

"This work follows several performative projects, undertaken in the last few years that evoke notions of memory, erasure, non-being, and destruction/construction or (deconstruction /restitution). Each of these “acted shapes” is the result of obsessional, repetitive, and often useless or absurd gestures. In the Impossible Journey I used a shovel to move a pile of sand, from one side of an imaginary line to the other, to the point of sheer exhaustion. Another work Hannoun is based on cutting and scattering the shavings of about 400 red pencils on the ground, to suggest the appearance of a field of poppies… In Like Water, I write with water, using a brush, for over two hours and within a marked perimeter the 109 Arabic words that signify water and which were cited, according to Ibn Sida, by Mahmoud Darwish in his book “Memory for Forgetfulness.” The result is an unproductive production: when I start writing the second or the third line, the first words are absorbed in the floor’s covering or evaporated until they completely disappear."
