It's so funny how clark isn't popular at school but if young tom welling came to my school like that he'd be the most popular guy out of everyone
#smallville#clark kent#kal-el#superman#tom welling#clark has no business to look that good#those kryptonian genes are godlike

I know lionel's an ass but how can I hate him when the man is style incarnate? His hair is like the mane of a lion, his voice is sultry as hell, his clothes are stylish as fuck and he opens doors like he's aragorn, son of arathorn. Lionel Luthor, you're a TERRIBLE father, but you have some great style

I love how the episode Leech (S1E12) shows perfectly what could happen if Clark's powers fell in the wrong hands. Eric uses them for his own personal gain and as a result, no one can stop him, everyone is afraid of him and people wish to study him to understand the powers. It's exactly what could happen to Clark if he didn't hide his abilities, which is why it's so important he does hide them(unlike Eric), but it also puts him in a world of isolation, loneliness and lies. He has to hide his real self from the world just so he can be accepted as someone 'normal', someone human. It also shows how IMPORTANT the Kents (and in general, parents) are, because it is because of them and their love that Clark turns out the way he does. He may not look much like his parents, but he has their character. He puts his loved ones' well-being before others like Jonathan, he wants to help others like Martha. Those are traits they passed down to him. Who knows what could've happened if he wasn't found by the Kents? He could've been a lab rat or someone who took over the world by only raising his fist. Lex did say he was lucky.
Clark's real gifts aren't his powers, but his parents.

I find it so funny how Lex, a rich dude in his early 20s, always hangs around with high schoolers just because of Clark. He knows Clark well, so as a result, he knows Lana, Chloe and Pete cause they're Clark's friends. Those other students must be like "why does lex luthor come over the entire time??" "oh, haven't you heard? kent is his friend"
It also will make their rivalry towards each other all the more tragic because at this moment(s1) they're very close and they're so sure that nothing will get between them. Oh, Lex, if only it could have lasted, huh?

Smallville S1 is such a crazy show. We've got 14/15-year-olds driving cars, having guns, this show is peak America.
Also, my boy Clark needs some real therapy. Its only s1 and he was hung up in a field, got shot at, a car exploded near him, his dad was sent to jail and the hospital, every encounter he had with Kryptonite, saw his loved ones dead in a vision, got thrown through windows(the windows are the real victim of this show), got some big ass thing in the barn thrown on him, got hit by a car, got run over by a truck.. I can't even remember more examples, like Clark you need help, this shit is insane. Did I mention this is only the first season?

SUPERMAN 2025 SPOILERS
i think that if i could change one thing from the movie it would be the real meaning of Lara and Jor-El's message.
make it so the twist is that instead of being the all-benevolent beings sending a savior that clark thought they were or the malicious instigators sending a conqueror lex portrayed them as, they were just... people wanting to save their child no matter what.
make it so they were selfish and desperate in the way parents who love their child more than anything can be.
they send their baby to earth not so he would be strong enough to protect them or because humans were weak enough for him to enslave, but simply because that was the planet that gave him the best chance to survive on his own.
they wouldn't be there to protect their child from the world, so they sent him to a world that wouldn't be able to hurt him.
like Pa Kent said, parents are just supposed to give you the tools you need to become your own person. and what are Lara and Jor-El but desperate parents trying to give their child a chance to grow into a person at all?

I think my only major gripe with Superman (2025) was the Jor-El change. I dont mind the idea that Krypton is an imperial and conquering world as a whole, but Jor-El has very often been an allegory for climate scientists begging the government to take climate change seriously before it destroys the planet and i much prefer when he sends Kal to Earth just to save him from Krypton, no other agenda, not specifically to rule or to be a hero, and Clark just chooses to be a hero because thats how he was raised by the Kents. Lex could have discovered Kryptons' true culture of war at the fortress and used that to paint Superman as an evil invader but leaving whether or not the footage was actually doctored ambiguous and Jor-Els intentions up to interpretation
#dc#superman#dcu#superman 2025#superman spoilers#jor el#krypton#lara lor van#HIGHLY agree with this take#I always thought that they were gonna reveal it would be a fake recording or something#like lex somehow manipulated the real words so it would put kal-el in a bad spot#(I hope that they say something like that later on in maybe supergirl's movie)#also they said that it wasn't fake at all but Kryptonian is practically a dead language how would they know that??

just started watching smallville and this show might be the most 2000s thing i've ever seen. that said, chloe is an ICON I think I love her the most; on that note I really enjoy clark hanging out with chloe & pete and him hanging out with his parents and lex. having lex be a friend makes for such an interesting dynamic too
Also, can someone tell me when clark and lana become a couple and how long it lasts 🙏 I ship clark with lois, and this entire will they/won't they between them is really annoying and they constantly make clark some kind of ass/peeping tom whenever lana's involved which is very frustrating. Please let their relationship be short and let them just be friends
#smallville season 1#smallville#clark kent#superman#chloe sullivan#pete ross#lex luthor#jonathan and martha are absolute LEGENDS in this show#i love them so much#also its so funny how lex is bald but his dad has the best hairstyle in the show#like lionel luthor may be an asshole but he's one with style#lana lang#lois where are you#are we sure they're 14/15 in s1?#like there's no way

anyone else up thinking about orpheus as an echo of morpheus, from an onomastic/linguistic perspective or otherwise...? 🚬
their tragedies are deeply and inherently connected to the point that one cannot exist without the other: morpheus lived a myth and died a tragedy, with the latter part being set in motion by the same phenomenon and similar course of events undergone by orpheus. if morpheus had ensured that this would not have happened to his son, neither would have been confronted by this specific fate. what i mean to say is that morpheus had a hand in his son's death, and orpheus had a hand in his father's.
one might remark that even outside of this particular story, a child is bound to be an echo of the parent to some extent, just as the parent is, in general, more or less responsible for the child's life and consequent death. that's the nature of heritage; that's the nature of living.
orpheus, like morpheus, was a storyteller. orpheus, like morpheus, was the story.
orpheus, like morpheus, was trapped twice: first by love and misery, and again in a more literal sense—the former as a severed head on the island, and the latter in roderick burgess's cellar at the beginning of the story. in a way, morpheus's own imprisonment was a sort of long-term suffering that he'd never truly experienced before. it is not unreasonable to assume that it made him more sympathetic to orpheus's condition.
and in another way, morpheus being the one to finally release orpheus from his suffering is symbolic: both had been stagnating for a long time, and with orpheus's departure from that living prison, morpheus was freeing himself from the inability to really change or grow as well.
with orpheus gone, morpheus followed soon after; so it is that orpheus is the end of morpheus in at least a few different ways—it is, after all, in the name 😉

I believe Supergirl was my first show that taught me the basics of Krypton, Supergirl, Superman etc. It even helped me with learning English. And so whenever Tyler showed up as Superman, he was the first Superman I ever saw on screen. I loved his Superman just as much as Winn Schott. Watching it I was always like "damn he's great I hope he gets his own show" (and when Lois showed up in Crisis on Infinite Earths, I think, I loved their relationship so much) and now after finishing Superman & Lois, I'm so HAPPY that dream came true

There is so much I love about the Superman & Lois show, but I think one that really is the cherry on the cake for me is the relationship between Clark and Lois. Like I've never seen two people more in love with each other, even after a decade of marriage. They ADORE each other so much, they have so much chemistry, they joke around, always support each other no matter what, give each other space, talk it out, apologize. Like these two are so in love its insane. There's no one else in the world but them. I'm crying man its so beautiful, their relationship means everything to me

I feel like Kara and Clark are lonely in different ways, that in the end, is capable of bringing them a bit closer.
Kara grew up on Krypton, she knew her family, her culture, and that was all taken away from her when Krypton got destroyed. Her home was gone, all her ties to her original home, gone in a second. She had to grow up on a different planet than she was used to, a planet where she was alone. She knew Krypton personally, and that was taken from her. That grief of mourning a loved one(multiplied by 100 or something in her case) is indescribable.
On the other hand, Clark did not get a chance to grow up on Krypton at all. He's practically human in all but heritage. He grew up on Earth, had loving parents from Earth that spoke English. Unlike Kara, he did not get a chance to know Krypton or his real family. He had to learn everything of his home planet through the eyes of an outsider(a human). In Superman & Lois, he didn't even know who Jor-El was. He knew nothing. Being so distanced from your original family and you know barely anything about them feels incredibly lonely. No one can help you. You can't help yourself.
Kara was on close terms, Clark was distanced. Their grief, their loss, their pain, their loneliness is different. But it also complements them. Kara knew Krypton so she could tell him stories, stories from a Kryptonian. Clark could tell her things about Earth that she may not have known beforehand.
#superman#supergirl#clark kent#kara danvers#superman & lois#superman and lois#listen I only know the basics about superman and all#but I watched the first 4 seasons of supergirl#and started watching superman and lois#(its fun as hell I find it really enjoying to watch)#so im practically a noob and someone else has come up with this before#but its fine ig

gaybashing?? could u elaborate pls i can't remember that for the life of me
to elaborate, this show was basically our version of Friends and while some things have not really aged well(half of Carlo's character, a womanizer), this show is absolute peak. It ran from 1999-2003 and they still air it on tv to this day, it's easily one of the best kids shows Ketnet has ever produced. They also made a movie in 2021 called 8eraf(pronounced as 'Achteraf', which means something like Afterwards) which was a sequel in which the gang got back together after all those years. It's really sad this show has no English subtitles or something cause if this were aired to an English audience back in the day, I'm sure many people would've enjoyed it as much as we do
