Hello! Hello! We have a couple of announcements for you today!

ARTIST OF THE YEAR:

Folks, today the mod team for SasuHina month has the pleasure to announce this year’s event. It will be in August of 2025! We are very excited to see what people create this month. Another thing we are excited about is our Artist of the Year! For 2025, it will be our very own Sen, also known as @a-sleeping-garden. Tenten Headcanon- Easy Backups

I like the idea of Tenten having a scroll—not a big one, just a small one—that contains backups of her friends' key belongings that might get damaged on missions.

Jumpsuits for Lee, a spare pair of sunglasses for Shino, a thick fleece for Hinata, hairties for Shikamaru or Ino, etc.

Just a few things that are no bother for her to seal in a scroll and hang on to until they're needed to make her future friends' lives easier.

What if those same people just make a ao3 account so they can keep scraping your fics without getting caught? I don’t know, it just feels like nothing is really safe anymore. Even when you try to set boundaries or protect your work, it still feels like someone will find a way around it.

I know, trust me friend I know, it sucks. I really didn't want to lock down my stories, as most of my kudos are from guests, but all we can do is take whatever steps we reasonably can. Ao3 has recommended for a while that we lock down our fics as it provides more protection.

And all I really know is that I love writing my silly little stories. Writing them makes me happy, so I'm gonna keep doing it. That's just the be-all and end-all for me, really!

I know it sounds simple, but to me, it is (after I had my usual rant, went for a cleansing walk, and reminded myself that I've been through worse, and my heart is still beating to prove it.)

AI isn't going away, and I'm most definitely not going to let a few horrible people stop me from doing what I enjoy.

As writers, we could, however, band together to start writing more crazy stuff just to mess with their AI training if they do get our fics! Maybe I should do a bingo card of requests specifically based on the most niche smut requests people could think of 🤔🤣

I hope that all makes sense! Take a deep breath and then decide what you need to do to continue doing what makes you happy. If writing makes you happy, keep doing it.

Hey KakaGai Community... WE CHALLENGE YOU!

Hi everyone! In an effort to revive our community a bit (and provide some much-needed joyful distraction) we are hosting a friendly competition!

Introducing the Eternal Rivals Creator Challenge!

Creators who would like to participate in this challenge can sign up HERE!

Participants will then be randomly assigned to:

Challenge Details

Once sign ups are complete and teams are randomly assigned, we will release a list of prompts to choose from. Teams will earn points by creating KakaGai fanworks (writing or drawing) either collaboratively or separately. Points will be assigned per work, and will vary based on the length/type/intricacy of your creations. The team with the most points at the end of the challenge WINS!

The challenge will only run for a weekend, starting on Friday, May 30th and ending on Monday, June 2nd .

Team captains will monitor the below tags on TUMBLR ONLY, so please make sure you tag your posts for them to be counted in the final tally!

Because this is the second time the site has been scraped (that I know of) I have, unfortunately, decided to lock my stories down to registered users only. It isn't something I particularly wanted to do but I feel like this is going to happen more and more.

AO3 has been scraped, once again.

As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.

I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.
