WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING A VIDEO IN A WRITING CLASS?

The purpose is to show that rhetoric appeals are not just shown through an article or a paper, it can be used to format a video as well. 

All throughout the semester, we have been pushed to use more than words to show and explain different questions. This is because different genres might have a stronger impact on the audience than just words.

Opinion Piece

The genre of my opinion piece will be a poster. 

The topic for my opinion piece is Engineers Without Borders. The policy change that I am focusing on is to donate and volunteer for them. 

This genre format is the best for my opinion piece because a poster can show the audience all of the reasons why they can help at once.

Week 9

Describe the rhetorical choices you made in writing your research questions (use multiple images/sounds, etc.) in order to get an A on this assignment.

My topic was objective so my rhetorical choices were closer to ethos and logos.

Also my primary source provided a solid foundation for my paper. All of the tone used in the paper was kept formal and that is what kept me from being biased. 

The questions that I developed were very simple so it made the answers clear and without any opinion in them. This including what was mentioned before, and not being close to pathos and become biased.

Week 6

Research can be seriously a pain, when you cant find what you need. It can take days of research of to find something useful!

Getting ready for the Literature Review. Things that I do when researching: I look up scholarly articles on Google and I will also search on the UTEP library data base this leading me to mediums of information on my topic of search. When searching information I will have the literature review questions to focus on the answer for them. 

Once I find useful information I will take notes on sources them, then apply it to an outline made for the literature review.

Literature Review Problems

My fear is that I will not structure the literature review correctly.

How can I structure my literature review is an understandable manner?

I feel like the solution would be to outline and from it develop multiple drafts until I get it right.

How does studying genres impact your writing?

I chose this genre because I feel that after studying genres and understanding analysis within them I finally understand how to write. Studying genres impacts writing because you now see the relations of author to their audience and how the author conveys the purpose. Everything is detail, detail, and detail! You gain an understanding that by being detailed everything can be clear to your intended audience. Finally I feel like “I got this!” and I can write a paper.
