A Beloved Tradition
Pairing: Luka x reader
Fandom: Honkai Star Rail
Genre: fluff
Word Count: 1.2k
A/N: This piece is a bit more worldbuilding-heavy than the others I’ve done! I enjoyed writing it though, so I hope you like it too!
A paper marriage in Belobog isn’t the only way to show off the love between a couple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
According to the laws of Belobog, a marriage would have to pass through the Bureau of Civil Affairs in the administrative district before it could become official. But as history would have it, those in high places would often ignore the needs of those below. The Underworlders of Belobog, fed up with having their marriage requests delayed or even outright denied, came up with their own ceremonies to acknowledge the love between couples in their community.
A traditional Belobogian Undergrounder’s wedding consists of preparing and seasoning an olm frog, roasting it over Geomarrow ores, and sharing the meal in the heart of town.
- Excerpt from The Heart of Jarilo-IV: Belobogian Customs and Traditions
+++
“I don’t think this is what anyone had in mind when they said to prepare the olm,” you laughed, shaking your head.
Your boyfriend and soon-to-be husband Luka grins at you. “What, you’ve never seen a frog wear a hat before? Expand your mind, sweetheart! This is gonna be the prettiest roasted olm Boulder Town has ever seen.”
In his hands is the main ingredient to a traditional Belobogian miners’ dish- an olm frog. He fiddles with a napkin, folding it into a cap to put on the amphibian’s head.
“Well, he certainly is a handsome olm,” you concede with a fond grin. You lift it up, surveying Luka’s work. Despite the seeming unwieldiness of his mechanical arm, Luka had been able to fold the napkin into surprisingly neat creases, balancing it delicately on the frog’s head. “Still, he’s not as handsome as my fiancé here.”
“Awww, you flatter me~”
A gag from behind you interrupts the sweet moment. Seele and Natasha stand a little ways back, the former holding tongs and turning pieces of geomarrow ore in the stove, keeping it red-hot. “Get a room,” she gags, “You two are sweet enough to make me barf.”
“What Seele means is that it’s good to see the two of you so in love,” Natasha adds, with a meaningful glance towards her adopted daughter. “But we shouldn’t keep your guests waiting. The other dishes are already done- only the olm is left.”
“Sorry, Natasha,” Luka apologized, but it was clear that he wasn’t abashed in the slightest.
“No worries,” Natasha replied. She smiled warmly at the two of you. “I don’t think anyone would blame you for wanting to drag on the festivities for a little while longer. Goodness knows we’ve had little else to celebrate since the blockade”
The four of you were silent for a moment. The halt of trade and transport between the overworld and underworld was a touchy spot for Underworlders- some of them wanted to maintain their pride and wait it out, while others proposed they fight back against the tyranny of the Supreme Guardian in the streets above. The divide caused a lot of trouble for Wildfire, who struggled to keep the peace between two sides.
“… It feels selfish to be celebrating in a time like this,” you admit self-consciously, breaking the silence. “There’s so much else to be thinking about; to be fighting for. But here we are, taking up Wildfire’s time for something that isn’t official business.”
Luka nods, echoing the sentiment. “It feels a bit weird to be off duty for the first time in months. I hope it’s not too much trouble for you.”
“Of course it isn’t!” Seele shakes her head. “We wanted to be here for you guys. Don’t get all sappy on us now, just because we’re being nice.”
“Everyone was so excited for you guys when they heard the news,” Natasha confirms. She takes the tongs from Seele, turning over the geomarrow in the belly of the stove. “Wildfire takes care of our own. And besides, it isn’t just for the both of you. Morale has been high ever since the planning began. It’s good for everyone to see that life goes on, even when times are hard.”
Between Seele’s fierce encouragement and Natasha’s kind words, it’s hard to stay doubtful. “Thank you, both of you,” you say to them, and you mean it.
+++
“Gather round, everyone! Master Oleg would like to say a few words.”
The settling murmur of guests around you roils in your belly as you sit at a table set up in Boulder Town’s square. Luka is lounging beside you with his normal arm flung over your shoulder. The roasted olm rests on the table between you, no longer sizzling hot but still pleasantly warm.
“How much longer before we eat? I’m starving,” he whispers to you with a grin. You nudge him back, shushing him as Oleg begins to speak.
“I’ll try to keep this short, seeing as the groom is getting a little impatient.” He shoots a smile at Luka, then coughs once before clearing his throat. “It’s great to see you all here today, in support of two of our dearest members of Wildfire. There’s a lot to be said about the state of the Underground right now-“ Oleg waits for the murmurs to pass through the crowd to continue. “But I think it’s safe to say that this union between our happy couple is proof that life goes on, both on the surface of Belobog and below. No matter the circumstances, we will find ways to thrive.”
Oleg nods to you. “On behalf of Wildfire and the entire Underground, we wish you two a happy and loving marriage.”
That’s your cue. Picking up the fork from beside the roasted dish, you use it to tear a piece of juicy meat from the side of the olm and hold it out to Luka. He grins and does the same with his own fork. You exchange them, taking the bites off of each others’ utensils- sharing your first meal in the town square, just as couples did for hundreds of years before you. The crowd erupts in whistles and cheers- and just like that, you’re forever bonded to the love of your life. Luka pulls you in for a kiss and you reciprocate, smiling into his lips as he leans his forehead against yours.
Roasted olm is said to taste like chicken, but there’s no way for you to make that comparison. After all, as an Underworlder you’ve spent your entire life by the glow of a Geomarrow furnace. You didn’t have the luxury of the sun or the sky or a grand Overworlder’s wedding. But today has proven that you don’t need any of that to thrive- or to love.
Taking your new husband’s hand in yours, you look around at the people surrounding you. Miners and their families, Natasha, Seele, Oleg and the members of Wildfire, residents of Boulder Town, Hook and the Moles- and of course, Luka.
“There’s more than enough food here for everyone. Please, join us! Let’s eat!”
How very loved you are.

Stolen Moments
Pairing: Peter Parker x Stark!reader
Synopsis: your secret relationship is exposed when Peter returns from a mission bruised and bloody and you comfort him in front of everyone
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Can you hand me a screwdriver?”
“What size?” You asked as you riffled through the open tool kit on the table.
“The one with the red handle.”
“The one with the red handle please?”
“No. Just the one with the red handle.” Peter said seriously before cracking a smile.
“Haha. Very funny.” You rolled your eyes as you passed him the screwdriver.
“I know. You’re so lucky you get a boyfriend as funny as I am. Some girls boyfriends are really annoying.” Peter teased you as he screwed a tiny screw into his web-shooter.
“I know. I’m one of those girls.” You replied, making Peters jaw drop.
“Shut up. You love me.”
“You’re okay.” You shrugged with a playful smile as you wrapped your arm around his.
“You’re okay too, lover”. Peter smiled at you as he started to lean in. Right before you lips could connect, you heard the sound of your dads whistling. You and Peter jumped apart just as Tony came into the lab.
“Hi dad. Peter and I were just fixing his webshooters.” You said in an attempt to act causal. You and Peter exchanged a nervous look, both hoping Tony didn’t see what you had been doing.
“I was fixing my webshooters. Y/n was busy eating wheat thins and chewing loudly in my ear.” Peter said as he nodded towards your half eaten box of wheat thins.
“Parker, don’t insult the volume of my daughters chewing.” Tony scoffed before turning to you. “Honey, keep up the good work.”
“Thanks daddy.” You smiled as Tony kissed the side of your head.
“Thanks daddy.” Peter said in a mocking tone. You shared another look and you playfully nudged him.
“Well I’ll leave you two to it. Don’t keep my beloved daughter too long, cobwebs. She and I have a smoothie date later.”
“I won’t.” Peter assured your dad.
“Bye dad.”
“Bye kiddo.” Tony waved as he walked out of the lab. Once you and Peter were alone again, you scooted your chair closer and rested your chin in your hands.
“Do you think he knows about us?“ Peter asked as he moved some hair away from your face.
“No. We’re way too careful.” You shook your head. Peter looked at you for a minute before going back to screwing together his web shooters.
“Maybe we should tell him.” Peter suggested without looking at you.
“About us?”
“Yeah. We’ve been together for 8 months. Maybe it’s time he knows.” Peter said as he nervously looked at you for your reaction.
“He can’t know, Pete. He’s been very clear that he’s against anyone in the tower dating.” You sighed as you put your hand on top of Peters. Peter frowned a little and flipped his hand so he could hold yours.
“I know.” Peter said quietly. “But maybe he’d be okay with it if he knew how much we love each other.”
“Wait, you love me? I thought we were just really good friends?” You played dumb as you tilted your head to the side. You could tell it upset Peter that you didn’t want to tell your dad and you wanted to cheer him up.
“Really good friends who sleep in the same bed and make out and stuff?” Peter humored you as he rubbed his thumb along your knuckles.
“Exactly. I do that with all my closest friends.” You shrugged as you leaned closer to Peter.
“Uh huh. I’m sure.” Peter smiled he closed the gap between you. You kissed each other sweetly in the quiet sanctity of the lab without worrying about anyone walking it. When you pulled away, Peter rubbed his nose against yours before kissing it.
“Hey, speaking of our 8 months. I got you something.” He said as he went to get something out of his pocket.
“You did?“
“Yeah. Turn around.” Peter instructed and you complied. You felt him lift your hair and place a necklace around your neck. You looked down and saw a delicate “P” engraved on a silver circle.
“Aw. P as in Proy?” You asked as you turned around to face him again.
“What?” Peter frowned.
“Never mind. Bad joke. Really hilarious joke actually, but it went over your head.” You shrugged, making Peter crack a smile.
“It’s a P for Peter. I sold all my action figures to buy it. Well, almost all of them. I know you said you like little pendants like that. Plus, it’s a reference to that Taylor Swift song you like.”
“Are you pretending not to remember what the song is called because you don’t want to admit you’re a bigger Taylor Swift fan than me?” You raised an eyebrow.
“She wrote “I want to wear his initial on a chain around my neck not because he owns me, but because he really knows me” and expected us to be okay? How does she even come up with that?“
“I don’t know, Petey. I don’t know.” You sighed, having heard this rant from him many times before.
“Walking with his head down, I’m the one he’s walking to. Who writes that? Oh my God. I need to stop before I get too crazy.” Peter waved his hand. ‘Anyway, I wanted you to have this because I feel like I really know you. Better than I know anyone.”
“You do know me better then anyone.” You smiled and cupped his face to bring him into another kiss. When you pulled apart, Peter smiled shyly and rested his forehead against yours.
“I love you, sweetness. You are the best thing that’s ever been mine.” Peter said as he rubbed your knee.
“As I said before, you’re okay.” You teased, making him roll his eyes.
“I’m more than okay. I’m a great boyfriend. I haven’t even said anything about the fact that you didn’t get me anything for our 8 month anniversary. But I don’t care, because just getting to be with you is the real gift. I don’t need anything else.” Peters said as he dramatically shrugged his shoulders.
“Aw. I was gonna let you hit it from the back as an anniversary gift, but if you don’t need anything, I guess I don’t have to.” You smiled sweetly and patted his cheek before going back to your work.
“What’s that now?” Peters perked up.
“Nothing. Thanks for the necklace, lover. I love it. And I love you more.” You kissed his cheek before kissing the rest of his face.
The next day, you and Peter took a break from working and walked to the local coffee shop. You had your arm wrapped around Peters arm as you walked down the sidewalk, not having to worry about your dad catching you.
“You can go ahead and order. I have to use the bathroom.” You told Peter once you got inside. When you got out of the bathroom, you saw Peter talking to the barista.
“There she is.” He smiled and pointed you out to the barista.
“Do you guys know each other?” You wondered as you walked up to the counter.
“No. He just walked up to me and said “wait until you see how pretty my girlfriend looks” and then told me you were in the bathroom”. The cashier said, sounding unamused.
“Peter.” You laughed and playfully hit his arm.
“What? You look really pretty today.” He defended himself. You rolled your eyes at him before ordering your drink. Peter tried to pay for you but you pushed his card away.
“Stop it. You’re not paying.” You told him and tried to swipe your credit card.
“Yes I am. I’m your boyfriend.” Peter insisted and pushed your card out of the way.
“And I’m the daughter of a billionaire.”
“And I’m your boyfriend.” Peter repeated and swiped his card. You couldn’t help but smile and let him pay for you. You had more money than you could ever need and Peter struggled to make ends meet, but he insisted on paying for you every time.
You got your coffees and sat down at a booth near the window. You held hands across the table as you talked about every little thing on your mind. Your soft smile dropped suddenly and you yanked your hand out of Peters.
“Oh my God.”
“What?” Peter frowned in disappointment at the loss of contact.
“My dad is here.” You whispered and pointed behind Peter.
“Your dad?” Peter asked just as Tony approached the table.
“Hello child. Surrogate child.” Tony greeted as he looked between the two of you. “What are you two doing here?“
“Just taking a little coffee break. What about you?” You asked as you tucked your necklace into your shirt.
“Same. And you know how I get when I’m craving scones. It’s not just a craving. It’s a dire need.” Tony said as he held up a little bag with a scone inside.
“Right. Well I’ll see you at home.” You said, hoping to get rid of him.
“Actually, I think I’ll join you. What are the earths youngest hero’s up to lately?” Tony asked as he slid into the booth beside you. You gave Peter apologetic smile for your dad crashing your date before answering his question.
“Not much. Right Peter?”
“Not much.” Peter nodded too many times.
“You know, I think you two need to get some boyfriends. That’ll give you something to do.” Tony suggested.
“I don’t want a boyfriend.” You laughed nervously and made panicked eye contact with Peter.
“Neither do I. I’m not gay.” Peter laughed as well, thinking Tony was joking.
“You’re not?” Tony asked in a fully serious tone.
“No, daddy. He’s not.” You said quietly.
“Really?” Tony asked in surprise.
“Dad.” You said warningly.
“What? I just assumed ever since I caught him reenacting the 1989 tour in his bedroom in a sparkly jacket and sunglasses.”
“Fair enough.” Peter mumbled.
You stayed at the coffee shop for another forty minutes before heading back to the tower. Your dad walked in front as you and Peter walked behind him. You could tell Peter was still disappointed about your date being crashed so you slipped your hand into his and squeezed three times. Peter immediately smiled and squeezed your hand back.
The next day, you were eating cereal in the kitchen when Tony came in with a towel around his neck and a hot pink sweatband around his head.
“Hey honey.” Tony greeted and kissed the side of your head.
“Hi daddy. Did you just workout?”
“I did. I heard a vicious rumor that Dr. Banner was in the running for People magazines Sexiest man alive this year and I simply couldn’t be upstaged.”
“Right.” You chuckled and went back to your cereal.
“Hm.” Tony frowned suddenly.
“What?”
“What’s that necklace?” Tony wondered as he pointed to the “p” necklace around your neck.
“Huh? What necklace?” You laughed nervously and tucked it into your shirt.
“The “p” around your neck. Where did you get that?”
“Don’t you remember? You got it for me.” You lied.
“No I didn’t. I’ve never seen that before. And I only buy you real jewelry. That looks like you got it at Claire’s. Is someone who isn’t me buying my precious daughter jewelry?”
“What?” You laughed nervously. “No. Who would be buying me jewelry? Certainly not a gentleman caller. What are you even asking me? Who is Claire?”
“Are you okay, honey?” Tony eyed you skeptically. “You’re acting a little stranger than usual. It’s not, uh, a feminine issue, is it?”
“A feminine issue?”
“You know. Not an exclamation mark but not quite a question mark.” Tony said with an uneasy smile, making you catch onto what he was implying.
“Oh. No, I’m not on my-“ You cut yourself off when you realized it would probably be easier just to lie.
“Yeah. I am. Sorry. I’ll be more normal.”
“It’s okay. Nothing to apologize for. Sorry I asked.” Tony said with an apologetic smile. He excused himself and left the room before things could get even worse.
A few hours later, Tony came into your room with a heating pad and a Kit Kat. You looked at him curiously as he placed them on your bed.
“Here. For your exclamation mark.” He said with a sheepish smile.
“Thanks.” You awkwardly picked up the stuff and placed the heating pad on your lap.
“Good luck with, um, all of that.” Tony said as he gestured to you. He started to leave your room but you called out to him.
“Hey dad?”
“Yeah, honey?”
“What do you think of Peter?” You asked as you pulled the wrapper off of the Kit Kat.
“What do I think of him?”
“Yeah. Thoughts? Opinions? Observations you’ve made?” You shrugged as you broke the Kit Kat in two and handed him half.
“I think he’s great.” Tony shrugged.
“So do I.” You smiled in relief.
“Yeah. He’s a good kid. And you know, if he weren’t a superhero, I think you two were make a terrific couple.” Tony said, making your heart stop momentarily.
“What does him being a superhero have to do with it?”
“Being a superhero means he’s unreliable. It means he will make promises he won’t keep. I’ve left your mother waiting by the phone too many times to let you make the same mistakes. I don’t want my daughter spending the rest of her life waiting for someone who isn’t coming home. A man with a job like ours will never make you happy. He might make you happy now, sure. But in ten years from now when you’re sitting alone at your child’s birthday party because your husband is off saving the world and your child is crying because their father didn’t build the toy he promised you he would make time to build, you won’t be happy. You’ll be resentful. Plus, you have me as your dad. You don’t need a superhero boyfriend to worry about too.”
“Yeah.” You said quietly. “I know that.”
“Why do you ask?” Tony wondered.
“No reason.” You replied without looking up at him. Tony nodded sympathetically, understanding that something was on your mind but you weren’t ready to talk about it yet.
“I trust you. I trust you’ll make the right decisions.” He said, making your guilt grow.
“Thanks, daddy.” You looked up at him and smiled sadly.
“No problem, honey.”
A few days later, Peter and Tony prepared to go on a mission together. It was low stakes enough that it only required the two of them to go. You were a little nervous about Peter spending so much alone time with your dad since he didn’t have the best track record with keeping secrets, but you decided to trust him.
“Hi baby girl. Your dad and I are heading out soon. I came to say goodbye.” Peter said as he came into your room. He took one step towards you just at Tony came into the room. He immediately stopped and nervously eyed your dad.
“Parker. We’re late. We gotta go.” Tony said as he knocked on the doorframe.
“Coming Mr. Stark.” Peter said quickly.
“Bye honey.” Tony said as he pulled you into a hug and kissed your cheek.
“Bye dad.”
“Goodbye Y/n.” Peter said from the doorframe, giving you an apologetic smile for not being able to say a proper goodbye.
“Bye Peter.” You said quietly as your eyes lingered on him. It was a low stakes mission, but there was always a chance of something going wrong. You hated that you weren’t able to kiss him goodbye. He and Tony left the room without another word and you let out a disappointed sigh.
“Shoot. I forgot my web cartridges. I’ll be right back.” Peter told Tony before running back to the tower. He immediately ran to your room and stood in your doorway.
“Did you really think I’d leave without kissing you goodbye?” He asked with a suave smile. You broke into a relived smile and ran into his arms. He caught you and immediately kissed you as he lifted you off the ground.
“Go on your mission. Be safe.” You said as you rubbed your nose against his.
“I will. I love you.“ Peter said before kissing your nose.
“I love you too.” You kissed him one last time before sending him on his way.
Six days later, you got a text from Tony that he and Peter would be home within the hour. You found it strange that Peter didn’t text you himself, but you were just excited they were back. Once you got an alert from FRIDAY that Tony and Peter entered the building, you ran to the front room. A couple other Avengers wandering in to greet them as you excitedly bounced on your heels. As soon as they came into the room, the mood changed drastically. Peter was in his Spiderman suit without his mask on. He wore a devastated look on his face clouded by bruises and serval cuts. Tony looked just as defeated with a bandaged cut going across his eyebrow.
“What happened?” You were the first to speak once the stunned silence in the room settled. Tony sighed a little and looked over at Peter, who’s bottom lip was beginning to tremble.
“Guys? Are you okay? How did the mission go?” Natasha asked, her heavy with concern. Both men stayed silent, making your panic grow.
“Peter?” You asked, assuming he would tell you. Peter said nothing as he shook his head and visibly fought back tears.
“Dad?” You asked, a little annoyed with the way they were keeping the suspense in the air.
“We, uh, we did not complete the mission.” Tony said quietly. You were too busy staring at your dad to notice that Peter had started to cry. He looked down and rubbed his eyes as tears streamed down his face. You immediately took a step towards Peter, then stopped yourself. Peter could feel everyone staring at him and felt his face blush in embarrassment. He looked around the room before his eyes landed on you, tears still running down his face. Your eyes flicked to your dad and you decided that in that moment, you cared more about comforting Peter than keeping your secret. You ran to Peter and enveloped him in a hug. He immediately wrapped his arms around your body and buried his face in your neck as he cried.
“Shhh. It’s okay. Don’t cry. I got you. It’s okay.” You said quietly in his ear as you stroked his hair.
“I failed. I failed the mission.” Peter sniffled as he hugged your tighter.
“You didn’t fail. You just didn’t succeed this time. It’s okay. You’re okay.”
“It’s not okay. I messed up. Mr. Stark trusted me and I messed up.”
“We’ve all messed up. You’re not the first person to fail a mission. And you won’t be that last.” You told him as you picked his head up and wiped away his tears with your thumbs.
“I just feel like an idiot.” Peter croaked out.
“Well you’re not an idiot. I wouldn’t be dating you if you were an idiot.” You told him as you rubbed your nose against his. The other Avengers in the room exchanged looks before focusing their attention back on you and Peter. You pulled Peters head down and pressed a long kiss to his forehead before kissing both his cheeks where his cuts were. Peter relished in the comfort for a second before remembering you weren’t alone.
“What are you doing?” He whispered and nodded towards your dad.
“I don’t care. My boyfriend is hurt and I’m gonna comfort him. I don’t care who sees.” You told Peter as as you stoked his cheek with your thumb. Peter gave you a grateful smile and leaned into your palm. You returned the smile for just a second until you heard Tony loudly clear his throat. You jumped a little before stepping in front of Peter and facing Tony. Peter looked at you with fear in his eyes but you slipped your hand into his and squeezed it to reassure him.
“Dad, I know what you’re gonna say. But before you do-“
“I’m not mad.” Tony said after being silent for the past few minutes.
“You’re not?”
“I’m not thrilled, and I wish you would’ve told me sooner, but I’m not mad.” Tony repeated with a small shrug. You and Peter exchanged a confused look before looking back at Tony.
“I thought you said relationships between anyone in the tower were forbidden?” You pointed out as you wrapped your arm around Peters.
“I did. But that was mostly to put an end to whatever gross thing Nat and Bruce have going on. No one’s playing hide the zucchini on my watch.” Tony said as he wagged a finger at Natasha and Bruce.
“I’ve said nothing.” Bruce pointed out.
“But the other day when we were talking, you said-“
“I know what I said.” Tony cut you off. “I know I told you never to date a superhero. But you’re not dating a superhero. You’re dating Peter.”
“Ouch.” Peter mumbled.
“What do you mean?” You wondered. Tony looked at you for a minute before his eyes drifted to look at how you were holding Peters arm.
“I remember when I adopted you. The people at the foster home told me your mother had abandoned you. They told me she had let you sleep in her bed with her and waited until you fell asleep.” Tony said in a wavering voice before sucking in a sharp breath. Your eyes slowly fell to the floor as you tightened your grip on Peters arm.
“Then she left you.” Tony laughed sadly. “She left you behind. She left a beautiful baby girl who was barely fours years old behind in a cold house. They told me you had stayed in the house for three days before a neighbor found you. Apparently you had never left your moms bed.”
“I was waiting for her to come back.” You said quietly.
“I bet you were.” Tony nodded. “I remember being so angry at that woman for abandoning you like that. I signed the adoption papers within an hour of knowing you. And when I brought you home that night, I let you sleep in my bed. You clung to my arm all night, as if you were afraid I’d leave you too. I promised you that night I would do anything to protect you. I promised to make the world safer for you.”
“Daddy.” You smiled sadly and wiped a stray tear from your cheek. Tony gave you a fond smile before looking at Peter. Peter stood up straighter and looked directly at Tony.
“Peter, I see how hard you work. I watched you give this mission your all until you had nothing left to give. The same thing you give to every mission. So no, I’m not mad. If there are two people willing to risk their lives so that the world is safer for my daughter, then I’m not mad about that.”
You and Peter looked at each other and let out relived sighs. You kissed Peters cheek before running into Tony’s arms and hugging him.
“Thank you, daddy. Your opinion means everything to me.” You said as he rubbed circled into your back. Tony let you go and kept one hand on your back and extended his other hand towards Peter.
“Peter?”
“Yes sir?” Peter said eagerly.
“You have my blessing.” Tony said with a proud smile. Peter broke into a smile of his own before shaking Tony’s hand.
“Thank you, sir. I love her. You won’t regret this.” Peter said as he shook Tony’s hand.
“Yeah. I’m gonna hold you to that.”
“Just because I’m curious, can the people who already knew they were together raise their hands?” Natasha asked. She, along with Bruce, Steve, and Carol raised their hands.
“Okay, in my defense, I don’t pay much attention to things that aren’t me.” Tony shrugged before looking at Peter again.
“Take care of my baby girl, okay? Take care of her when I can’t.”
“I will.” Peter promised. “Don’t worry. I will.”
The next morning, you and Tony were cooking in the kitchen when Peter walked in. He yawned and rubbed his tired eyes before giving you a sleepy smile. You returned the smile and blew him a kiss. Peter looked at you for a second and then looked at your dad as if he was silently asking for permission.
“Go ahead.” Tony playfully rolled his eyes. “Kiss her good morning. You should do that every chance you get.”
Peter smiled excitedly and practically ran over to you to kiss you good morning. He cupped your face to kiss you before kissing both your cheeks. The rest of the Avengers shared looks as they sipped their coffee but said nothing. You went back to cooking and Peter wrapped his arms around you from behind and rested his chin on your shoulder. You piled some pancakes on a plate as Peter kissed your cheek again.
“Peter. Not in front of my dad.” You playfully warned him.
“It’s okay, honey. I’m okay with this. Peter has my blessing.” Tony said as he looked around at all the Avengers at the table to let them know he was really okay.
“See? I have his blessing. I can kiss you anytime I want now.” Peter said before kissing your cheek again. Tony looked at the two of you with a smile until he noticed something on your neck.
“Hold up.” Tony stopped the two of you and looked at you curiously.
“What’s wrong?” You wondered.
“What’s that on your neck?” Tony asked as he moved your hair back to reveal a deep purple mark on your neck. You gulped a little and quickly slapped your hand over your neck to cover it up.
“Nothing.” You said quickly. “Nothings on my neck.”
“Is that a hickey?” Tony asked sternly as he put his hands on his hips. The Avengers exchanged looks again and held back their laughter. You stepped in front of Peter to protect him from your dad as the two of you backed away.
“Are you two doing it?” Tony asked through gritted teeth.
“I mean, not at this current moment in time.” Peter said, making you smack his arm. Tony bent forwards and sucked in a sharp breath before snapping back up.
“Dad, before you freak out-“
“Banned.” Tony bellowed.
“W-what?” Peter stammered.
“Banned. Banned from the kitchen. Banned from the tower. Banned from this entire block. Banned from this concrete jungle where dreams are made of.”
“But you said he had your blessing.” You reminded your dad.
“Give me back my goddamn blessing right now you son of a bitch.” Tony snapped. “And then get the hell out of this tower. You are not to go anyway near my daughter ever again.”
“But daddy I love him!” You protested before looking at Peter.
“I’ve always wanted to say that.” You chuckled before getting serious again.
“Mr. Stark, if I may-“
“That’s Mr. Stark to you.” Tony cut him off.
“Mr. Stark, if I may, you and I have been on a mission for the last six days. We wouldn’t have had time to do it. That mark on her neck is from her curling iron.”
“Really?” Tony looked at you skeptically.
“Really.” You nodded. “I did it this morning before I came down.”
“All right. The ban is lifted. All is well. Who wants pancakes?” Tony’s mood changed back to happy as he brought the plate of pancakes over to the table. You and Peter looked at each other before going to the table. He pulled your hair out of you and you smiled gratefully.
“Good thinking back there. I never would’ve thought to say it was the curling iron.” You leaned over and whispered in Peters ear while everyone around the table talked.
“Thanks.” Peter whispered back. “Now let’s hurry up and get out of here before he realizes your hair isn’t curled today.”

“Hold the door!”
Peter stuck his hand between the elevator doors of the tower when he heard an unfamiliar voice. The doors opened back up and you stepped inside.
“Thanks for holding the door. It’s nice to meet you. It’s my first day.” You said as you held your hand out to him.
“It’s nice to meet you too. And I hope you don’t think it’s rude if I don’t shake your hand. I just have a thing with germs. The number of pathogens passes during a handshake is staggering. It’s actually safer to kiss.”
“Hm. I’ll have to take you up on that.” You replied with a coy smile, sending a blush to Peters face.
“I hope you do.” He mumbled shyly, getting a laugh out of you.
“I’m Y/n, by the way. Mr. Stark just recruited me to be on the team.”
“I’m Peter. And I didn’t know we were getting anyone else on the team. I’m barely on the team myself.“
“Same with me. I think I’m just doing a trial run to see if I fit in well.” You told him. “Is there anything I need to know before I meet the team? Any insider tips you can give me?”
“Well, you’re a pretty girl, so Sam is definitely going to hit on you.” Peter rolled his eyes a little. “But if it makes you uncomfortable, he’ll back off. He’s a flirt but he’s not an asshole. Well, he is an asshole, but he won’t be towards you. He is towards me though, but that’s a different story. Tony talks with an inflection in his voice that makes it really hard to tell if he’s kidding or not so never take anything he says seriously. And you should know Bucky and Steve are not dating. Neither are Bruce and Natasha. I don’t really know what’s going on between them but at this point I’m too scared to ask.”
“Is it important that I know they’re not dating?”
“Yes. You’re inevitably going to wonder about it so I’m telling you right now that they’re not.”
“Good to know.” You chuckled.
“Yeah. You’ll figure everyone else out pretty quickly. They’re all good people.” Peter assured you.
“What about you? Is there anything I need to know about you?” You asked, making Peter blush again.
“That depends on what you want to know.”
“Well I’ll have you know that I like to know everything. I hate when shit is unbeknownst to me.” You replied, making Peter laugh.
“I’ll tell you whatever you want to hear. I swear.” Peter answered, earning a smile out of you just as you reached your floor.
“I’m happy to hear that. I have to meet with Mr. Stark before I meet the team. It was nice meeting you, Peter.” You waved to him as you walked off the elevator.
“You too.” Peter called after you. He watched your disappear down the hall with a smile on his face and did a little happy dance before going to the meeting room.
It wasn’t long before Tony came into the room with you by his side. You looked around nervously at all the Avengers until your eyes landed on Peter. He gave you a double thumbs up and you visibly relaxed.
“Hello all. As you may have heard from my weekly newsletter I send out on Snapchat, we have a new recruit joining the team.“
“Snapchat newsletter?” Nat whispered to Sam.
“I don’t know. I blocked him after the first one he sent.” Sam sighed.
“Is Snapchat the one where you swipe right if you find a person attractive?” Steve leaned in to whisper.
“Yes.” Natasha lied.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I gave you the impression that I wanted to be spoken over when I’m talking.” Tony shouted over them, making you stifle a laugh.
“Sorry.” They mumbled.
“Thank you. Now, please give a warm and fuzzy welcome to Y/n.” Tony stepped to the side and proudly presented you.
“Hello.” You smiled shyly and waved. Everyone stared blankly at you and you wanted to disappear into the floor. You could feel your face burning up in embarrassment until someone stood up and walked over to you.
“Well I’ll be the first to play with the shiny new toy. Hi, gorgeous. I’m Sam.” Sam smiled suavely and shook your hand. You heard the name and made eye contact with Peter over Sam’s shoulder. Peter rolled his eyes again and you giggled.
“Hi. Nice to meet you.” You greeted him. Natasha and Steve were the next ones to get up to shake your hand.
“I’m Steve and that’s Natasha.” Steve told you as he firmly shook your hand.
“You can call me Nat.” Natasha smiled warmly at you when you greeted her.
“Hi Nat. Hi Steve.” You smiled timidly.
“This is Bucky.” Steve said and laughed Bucky forward. You held out your hand to shake his but when you saw his metal arm, you retracted it.
“Hi.” You said quickly.
“Sup.” He smirked.
“That’s Rhodey over there. And this is Peter.” Tony said and nudged Peter towards you. You reached out a hand and everyone assumed you were trying to shake Peters hand.
“Oh, Peter doesn’t-“ Tony began to warn you when your hand met Peters shoulder and you pulled him closer to kiss his cheek.
“Good to see you again.” You smiled at him.
“You too.” Peter blushed and patted your arm. Your hand slipped off his shoulder and you looked around to see the rest of the team staring at you.
“Wow. Okay, so, I’m gonna need an explanation for that at some point.” Tony nodded his head.
“I do too.” Sam chimed it.
“Give her some space.” Peter told them. “Here, you can sit next to me.”
You sat in the chair Peter had pulled out for you and gave him a grateful smile.
“Anywho, let’s jump right into the mission. We’re flying out to Socovia today folks for a little world saving. Then maybe some Mexican food after? Yeah? No one’s agreeing but it’s gonna happen anyway. Wheels up in 30.”
The team shuffled out of the room to grab their to go bags as you awkwardly hung back. You waited until you saw Peter and followed him out to the plane.
“Peter?” You whispered and tugged on his sleeve.
“Yeah?”
“Is there assigned seating on the plane?”
“No.” He shrugged. “We can sit wherever we want.”
“But do people typically sit in the same seats? I don’t want to overstep.”
“How about you sit next to me? Then you don’t have to worry.” Peter offered.
“Okay. Thanks.” You smiled and wrapped your arm around his so you could walk onto the plane together.
“So what’s in Socovia?” Natasha asked once everyone was seated.
“People keep getting murdered in the same gruesome way and the same symbol has been left on the wall each time.” Tony explained.
“What symbol?” Peter wondered. Tony took out an Manila folder and slid a photo towards you and Peter. In the picture was a graffiti drawing of the Avengers symbol inside a giant red circle with line going through it. Everyone leaned in to see the picture and understood why this was an Avengers level threat.
“Damn. They put the Ghostbusters thing over it and everything.” You mumbled.
“How gruesome are we talking by the way? Because I just ate.” Sam asked.
“All the victims were chained to the back of a car and dragged until they were decapitated.”
“Oh. Lovely.” Sam smiled sarcastically.
“Murders just keep coming up with new ways to murder, don’t they?” Steve said.
“Actually, dragging is steeped in English history. Back in the 11th century, drawing and quartering was a common form of punishment, and in fact-“
“Peter.” Tony cut him off and shook his head.
“Sorry.” Peter mumbled and slumped in his seat in embarrassment.
“He does that a lot. You’ll get used to it.” Sam told you, making Peter grow more embarrassed.
“Wait. I wanted to hear the rest.” You ignored Sam and turned to Peter.
“You did?” Everyone asked skeptically.
“You did?” Peter smiled in surprise.
“Yeah. What were you saying, Peter?” You asked and gave him your full attention.
“I was just saying that they would also disembowel and behead the victims when they were done with them. That’s all.” Peter continued.
“You just knew that off the top of your head?” Your eyes widened in amazement.
“He knows everything off the top of his head. He’s like a human encyclopedia.” Tony informed you.
“Wow. That’s really cool.” You smiled at Peter. Peter tried to say something in return but found himself too flustered to speak.
“You’ll have to forgive him. You might be the first person to refer to him as “cool”.” Sam snorted.
“Well I think you’re cool.” You said as you continued to ignore Sam.
“Thanks. You’re cool too.” Peter smiled shyly. Sam looked between the two of you before scooting closer to you.
“You know, I wouldn’t mind giving you a tour of the tower once we get back. I’d be more than happy to show you the ropes.” Sam said with a debonair smile.
“That’s okay. Mr. Stark already gave me a tour of the building when he interviewed me to be on the team.” You politely declined.
“A tour before you even joined? Is that so?” Sam raised his eyebrows at Tony.
“She was by far the best candidate.” Tony shrugged. “She had the job before she left my office.”
“Wow. So you’re not just a pretty face?” Sam teased you with a flirtatious wink.
“No. I’m not.” You said flatly.
“I don’t think anyone gets asked to join the Avengers for having a pretty face. I’m pretty sure she was hired because she’s qualified.” Peter chimed in, making you smile.
“That’s awfully charming of you to come to your lady’s defense, spider boy king of thieves, but I’ll have to respectfully disagree. Thor was 100% hired for being pretty.” Tony admitted.
“Oh.” Peter said and sat back in his seat.
“Why’d he call me your lady?” You asked Peter.
“Um, I have no idea.” He lied quickly. Peter turned bright red and looked at Tony, who was looking at the two of you with a knowing expression.
“You know why.” Tony mouthed. He then pointed between the two of you before making his hands kiss each other. Peter motioned for him to stop but you were oblivious to the whole thing.
Once you landed, you got off the plane and waited for further instruction. Tony started to pair everyone off and Peter got excited when your name still hadn’t been called.
“Blues Clues and New Girl, you should head to where the first victim was found. See if you can find anything.” Tony told you and Peter.
“Okay. On it.” Peter saluted him before slipping his mask over his face.
“And hey. No kissing, okay? This is a serious mission.” Tony called after the two of you. Peter was thankful he had his mask on so you couldn’t see the shade of red he turned.
“No kissing? Does he always say that?” You laughed in confusion.
“Uh huh. Let’s not think about it. Let’s go.” Peter said quickly and treaded into the forrest ahead of you.
“Okay.” You laughed skeptically and followed after him. When you caught up to him, you gentle elbowed him in the side.
“Thanks for having my back on the plane, by the way. Sam is just like you said.”
“No problem. And don’t mind Sam. He can only speak to women if he’s flirting.”
“What about you? Do you do a lot of flirting?” You smiled coyly at him, making Peter choke on his saliva.
“I’m afraid I don’t know how.” He admitted.
“Sure you do. Pretend I’m a girl you want to date and give me your best pick up line.”
“Pretend you’re a girl I want to date? What? I mean, I’ll try.” Peter laughed nervously. “But I don’t know any pick up lines.”
“Come on. If you saw me in a bar and you were trying to pick me up, what would you say?”
“I wouldn’t be in a bar.” Peter laughed sheepishly.
“Just humor me.”
“Fine. I would say that I think you’re really beautiful and I would like to take you on a date.” Peter said sincerely as he stopped to look at you. You stopped as well and smiled softly at him when you heard the fondness in his voice.
“Where would you take me?” You asked him.
“A museum.”
“A museum? You had that answer ready.” You chuckled in surprise and took a step closer to him.
“Well I noticed you have a picture of The Kiss as your phone background. I’m a fan of Klimt as well.”
“I love The Kiss. It’s just so romantic.” You sighed. “Even though it looks incredibly uncomfortable.”
“It does. Her neck must really hurt.”
“Do you know any facts about The Kiss?” You asked him. “I only ask since you knew all that stuff back on the plane.”
“Are you being polite or do you actually want to know?” Peter asked skeptically.
“I want to know.” You assured him.
“Well, Klimt’s career was actually on a downfall when he painting it. Before creating the piece, he had received a scathing review in the first decade of the 20th century for his three-part University of Vienna Ceiling Paintings. Because of all the nudity, his works were described as "pornography" and "perverted excess”. It almost ruined his reputation, actually. He later wrote in a letter, "Either I am too old, or too nervous, or too stupid—there must be something wrong." in regards to his paintings. That was all right before he got popular with The Kiss.” Peter told you. He smiled under his mask when he finished speaking and realized it had been a long time since someone had let him talk about something without being interrupted or told to stop.
“You’re so smart.” You sighed. “I wish I was smart.”
“Come on. I’m sure you’re smart.” Peter assured you.
“I’m not. I’m really dumb actually.” You admitted and gave him a sad smile.
“What? I find that hard to believe.”
“It’s true. I’m book smart, sure. But when it comes to talking to people, most things go right over my head.”
“That’s okay. You have a lot of other great qualities to you. I’ve only known you a few hours and I can see that already.” Peter told you.
“Aw. Thanks, Pete.” You smiled at him as your shoulder brushed up against each others. Peter smiled shyly in return and felt his face heat up.
“So do you like museums?” Peter asked you.
“Love them.” You gushed. “I like going in and pretending like I’m in that scene from Pride and Prejudice where she stares at Mr. Darcy’s stature and realizes she’s in love with him.”
“I haven’t seen it.” Peter admitted, wishing he had so he wouldn’t disappoint you.
“What? You have to watch it.” You insisted.
“Maybe you could show it to me sometime.” Peter suggested, hoping you’d take the hint that he liked you.
“Yeah! I totally could. And we could check out a museum afterwards so you can feel like that scene!” You smiled in excitement and tugged on his arm.
“It’s a date.” Peter replied, liking how excited you were to spend time together.
“You’re so funny. A date, he says.” You laughed and kept walking into the forest. Peters smile fell when he realized you had in fact not gotten the hint that he liked you.
The longer you lived in the tower, the closer you and Peter became. You spent most of your time together and as much as he loved being your friend, he couldn’t help but pine for you. You often made it seem like you felt the same, but he found that every time he tried to tell you that he wanted to me more than friends, it went right over your head.
“I’ll go easy on you, okay?” Peter said as he held up his boxing glove covered hands during sparing one day.
“I’m gonna knock you out where you stand.” You exclaimed and swung at him. Peter ducked and punched you in the stomach before tackling you onto the mat.
“I’m sorry. But this is the end of the line for you.” Peter smirked as he hovered over you.
“Not if I make it a curve.” You declared before flipping Peter over and pinning him by his wrists.
“Wow. You pinned me.” Peter said with pleasant surprise.
“Please. You totally let me win.” You rolled your eyes and got off of him.
“What? I would never.” Peter said sarcastically.
“You would. And you did. Cheater.” You teased before tugging the strap of your boxing glove off with your teeth. Peter gulped and watched you as you did the same to the other one instead of using your newly freed hand.
“But I cheated for you. That’s a good kind of cheating.” Peter said as he helped you off the ground.
“So you justify cheating? Wow, P. Is this what it would be like to date you? Constantly getting cheated on?” You pretended to gasp as you went to get water bottles out of the refrigerator for the two of you.
“Are you kidding me? I’d be an excellent boyfriend.” Peter insisted and took the bottle you handed him.
“Really? Says who? Where are the user reviews?” You teased and took a sip.
“So far, they haven’t been any users. But if I ever became a boyfriend, I’d be the best boyfriend to ever boyfriend.”
“You know what? I believe you.” You shrugged. “You do have all the best boyfriend qualities. You’re sweet and smart and funny. Not to mention, slightly above average on the handsome scale. You’re kinda a total catch. Oh my god. How come I’m not dating you?”
“You could. If you wanted to.” Peter stammered as his entire face turned red.
“You are so funny. Seriously, why don’t you have a girlfriend?” You laughed as Peters advances went right over your head. Peter frowned a little and decided that if he was going to get through to you, he had to try harder.
A few days later, you came into Peters room while he was doing some homework to show him your outfit.
“Woah. You going out?” He asked you when he saw the little black dress guy had on.
“Yeah. Does this outfit make me look slutty but in a fun way?”
“Honestly, yes. That’s exactly how I would describe it. Who are you going out with?” Peter wondered.
“A boy.”
“What? What boy? Who him? I mean, who is he? What?” Peter fumbled over his words as jealously manifested in his tummy.
“Oh my God. I’m just kidding. I’m going out with some girl friends.” You laughed when you saw how flustered he got.
“Oh. Okay.” Peter sighed in relief.
“You weren’t jealous, were you?” You smiled in surprise.
“I…I was actually.” Peter admitted, knowing there was no point in denying what you already knew.
“Oh. I get it.” You nodded and smiled sympathetically at him.
“Look, I’ve been meaning to tell you this for a while-“
“You were jealous that I had a date and you didn’t, weren’t you?” You cut him off. That wasn’t at all what Peter was jealous about and you had once again missed what he was trying to say.
“Yeah. That’s it.” Peter lied.
“P, if you want a date, you just have to ask a girl out. Any girl would be lucky to have you.” You said simply.
“You think so? Any girl?”
“Totally. If a guy like you asked me out, I’d say yes in a heartbeat.“ You assured him.
“You’d say yes if I asked you out?” Peter raised an eyebrow.
“Are you kidding? Absolutely. And I’d lock you down too. You’d never get away from me.” You told him. A smile tugged at Peters lips as your words gave him the confidence to finally ask you out.
“Y/n, I think you are the most beautiful girl in the world and I would love to take you on a date.” Peter said and held his breath in anticipation of your response.
“That was perfect, P! That’s exactly how you should ask a girl out.” You smiled in excitement, making his smile fall.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” He grumbled.
“Good luck. See you later!” You patted his back before leaving the room.
The next day, you went into the home theater and found a couple members of the team watching something on the big tv. Peter turned his head when he heard you come in and waved you over.
“Hey. Mind if I share your blanket?” You asked him.
“Yeah. Go ahead.” Peter blushed and lifted up his blanket so you could slide under it. You smiled at him before sitting down and snuggling into his side.
“You’re so warm. Can you start sleeping in my bed? It’s freezing in my room.” You mumbled as you wrapped your arms around his torso.
“I could definitely spoon you at nights for $5 an hour.” Peter teased as he wrapped an arm on you.
“I’d pay $20 an hour just to have these arms around me. Holy shit. They feel like a snake swallowed a baby.” You said as you squeezed his bicep.
“Thank you?” Peter chuckled.
“No. Thank you. Never let me go.” You sighed happily and snuggled back into his chest. Peter felt his face heat up and rested his cheek against the top of your head. You could feel his heart beating against your cheek and nuzzled into his chest further. You stayed in comfortable silence for a minute as your breathing synced up.
“This is nice.” Peter said in a quiet voice.
“It is. You should hold me more often.”
“I would love to do that.” He laughed softly.
“Really?” You asked and tilted your chin up to look at him. He looked down at you and nodded his head. You smiled and snuggled into his chest, restoring his confident once again.
“Do you ever think about being more than friends?” He asked softly.
“Oh my god. Are you finally asking me?” You smiled and sat up a little.
“Yeah. I finally am.” Peter nodded and sat up as well.
“You want to be roommates?” You asked excitedly and squeezed his hands.
“Wait, what?” Peters smile dropped.
“We can get bunk beds and everything! I thought you’d never ask.” You gushed and threw your arms around him to hug him. Peter squeezed his eyes shut in disappointment that you hadn’t understood what he was trying to say but decided that this was better than nothing.
“Me either.” He mumbled.
A week later, you had fully moved into Peters room. He laid awake one night and stared up at the bottom of your top bunk. He thought back to the day you built the bunk bed together and while showering him with compliments for his strength all day, he still had no idea how you really felt about him. You always made it seem like you liked him back but as he stared up at the bottom of your bed, he couldn’t help but think of all the times he tried to ask you out and you didn’t even realize. He was so deep in thought that he hadn’t even noticed you had climbed down from your top bunk and stood beside his bed.
“Holy shit.” He jumped when he saw you.
“I had a bad dream.” You said in a quiet voice.
“Oh no. Come here.” Peter sat up and patted his bed. You quickly climbed down and got into bed with Peter.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” You asked and you laid down together.
“Of course. Always.” Peter nodded and wrapped his arm around your waist. You rested your head on his pillow and looked into his eyes.
“You seemed kinda restless up there. Is everything okay?” Peter asked you.
“Not really. I have a lot on my mind.”
“Oh yeah? What’s the matter?”
“I raised my hand in class today and got it wrong. Like, way wrong. A few people laughed because I think they thought I was trying to be funny. But I wasn’t trying to be funny. I really thought my answer was right.”
“At least you tried.” Peter said reassuringly.
“I shouldn’t have tried. I tried to redeem myself later in class by answering another question but I got that one wrong too. And then the teacher asked a question that I definitely knew but when I raised my hand, he laughed and said “maybe you should stop trying”. I felt like such an idiot. I had that right answer. He just didn’t let me say it.”
“Don’t talk about yourself like that. You’re not an idiot.” Peter said as he rubbed circles on your back.
“Yes I am. Everyone says so.” You sighed. “I’ll never be smart like you. You know everything about everything.”
“Just because I memorize a bunch of facts doesn’t make me smart. You’re smart in your own way.” Peter told you.
“That’s a nice way of saying I’m dumb.” You chuckled softly.
“I would never call you dumb. I don’t think you’re dumb at all.” Peter shook his head and looked into your eyes
“Aw, P.” You smiled softly and cupped his chin.”
“In fact, I think you’re the loveliest person I’ve ever met. You’re courageous and hardworking and strong and so insanely beautiful sometimes it’s annoying, actually. And when I think of all the adjectives that can be used to describe you, dumb does not make the cut.”
“Why are you so good to me? It’s like you came straight from heaven into my life.” You smiled and scooted closer to him.
“I did. I’m a ghost.” He whispered, making you laugh.
“I’m so glad you were the one I met in the elevator on my first day. Can you imagine if I asked someone like Sam to hold the door for me?”
“You’d be in his bed right now and not mine.” Peter snorted.
“Please. I’d never be in his bed. And I like to think that no matter who held the elevator for me that day, you and I still would’ve formed this bond.” You said without looking into his eyes.
“You think so?” Peter smiled a little.
“I’m positive. I’ve never connected like this with anyone. I never believed in soulmates until I met you.”
“You think we’re soulmates?” Peters smile grew as he pulled you closer.
“Why not?” You shrugged. “Why not suspend your beliefs in science for a moment and believe that you and I were cut from the same cloth? I know it sounds silly, but I think it’s possible. And it makes me happy to believe it. You’re my twin flame.”
Peters heart was pounding in his chest as you said everything he always wanted to hear. Peter brushed some hair off of your face and left his hand on your cheek.
“What are we?” He asked you in a quiet voice.
“I just said we’re twin flames?” You frowned in confusion.
“Not that. I meant our relationship. What do you think of us as?”
“Peter.” You laughed softly and moved closer to him. He nodded his head and eagerly waited for your response.
“Twin flames. I literally just said that. Can you not hear me?” You asked genuinely and spoke a little louder. Peter groaned and rolled onto his back so you wouldn’t see his frustration.
“I’m going to sleep.”
“You promised you’d hold me.” You whined a little.
“Fine. Roll over.”
“Can’t we lay like this?” You asked and tugged his shirt so he’d roll back over to face you.
“Oh. Okay. Sure.” Peters disappointed faded away as he was reminded that just being your friend was a privilege.
“Goodnight, P.” You said through a yawn and wrapped both arms around him to rest your head on his chest.
“Goodnight, honey.”
The next morning, Peter walked into the kitchen and the conversation that had been happening immediately went quiet. Peter looked around in confusion as everyone snickered and hid behind their coffee cups.
“So. Rumor has it you two slept together last night.” Tony said with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
“What? Who started that rumor?” Peter frowned as he turned bright red.
“I did. After I went into your room this morning and saw you two tangled together in Peters bed.” Tony smirked and pointed over to you. You were sitting in the living room by yourself with your headphones in so you couldn’t hear the conversation going on.
“Ew. Aren’t you guys like 10?” Sam scrunched his nose.
“No. We’re adults. And it wasn’t like that. She had a bad dream so she slept in my bed.” Peter defended.
“Aw. Look at you comforting your girlfriend when she had a bad dream. How cute.” Sam teased.
“She’s not my girlfriend.” Peter mumbled and felt that of his face got any hotter, he’d explode.
“Wait, she’s not?” Sam asked.
“No. We’re just friends.”
“Well then what the hell am I waiting for? I’m about to get myself Mrs. Falcon.” Sam laughed and got out of his seat. Peter watched him as he went into the living room where you were.
“What’s he doing?” Peter asked Tony.
“Asking Y/n out. Duh.” Tony replied.
“What?! He can’t do that? He’s so big and strong and handsome. What if she says yes?” Peter began to panic and craned his neck to watch you and Sam.
“What’s your damage? I thought you guys were just friends.” Tony snorted.
“We are. I don’t even care actually.” Peter lied and sat back in his seat as his leg bounced. He looked over at you and Sam again and saw you nodding your head at something Sam was saying.
“Are you okay?” Tony asked when he saw the look on Peters face.
“I’m gonna fucking throw up.”
“Plug it up. He’s coming back.” Tony warned him. Sam walked back to Tony and Peter with a look on his face that peter couldn’t read.
“Well? Is she the next Mrs. Sam Wilson?” Tony asked.
“She turned me down.” Sam answered, seeming like he still didn’t believe it.
“What? What did she say?” Peter couldn’t contain his smile as he asked.
“She said she’s flattered but not interested in me.”
“Wait, how did you ask her?” Peter wondered.
“I don’t want to rehash it.” Sam waved his hand. “I asked her to go on a date, she said no, that’s pretty much it.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Peter whispered as he sat back in his chair.
“That’s what I said.” Sam scoffed. “Wait, why are you upset? I’m the one who got turned down.”
“Because I’ve been trying to ask her out for months but she either pretends she doesn’t understand or it genuinely goes right over her head. How come she understood when you did it?”
“Because I was direct. I didn’t beat around the bush like a boy who’s scared to ask his best friend on a date.” Sam told him.
“I’m not scared.” Peter scoffed. “I’m fact, I’m gonna go talk to her.”
“Good luck.” Sam called after him as Peter went over to you.
“Hey.” Peter waved nervously.
“Hey, P. What’s going on?” You smiled and took your earbuds out.
“Not much. I hear Sam asked you out.” Peter said as he sat down beside you.
“Oh. Yeah.” You scrunched your nose a little and laughed uncomfortably.
“You said no?”
“Yeah. I felt bad but he’s not my type.”
“I get that. What is your type, by the way?” Peter asked casually.
“I guess I don’t really know. I just like people that I like. But it helps when they’re kind and can make me laugh. I just want someone who doesn’t make me feel like I have to put on a performance. I want someone who makes me feel like I can be the person I am when I’m alone.” You explained. You thought about it for a second and then laughed a little.
“Hey, look at that. I just described you.” You chuckled. Peters heart beat in his chest and he knew if there was ever a time to tell you how he felt, it was now.
“Well I’m glad you feel that way. Because I have feelings for you. I have for a really long time.”
“Oh. You do?” You frowned and looked concerned. Peter saw your face and sighed, knowing that meant his feelings were likely unrequited.
“Yeah, I do.”
“Well what are the feelings? Oh no! Is the feeling anger? Are you mad at me?” You gasped and put your hand on top of his. Peter stared at you for a long time as he realized his efforts had once again gone directly over your head.
“No. Actually, yeah. I am mad.” Peter realized.
“Did I do something wrong?”
“You haven’t done anything wrong.” Peter sighed. “I’m just confused.”
“About what? Can I help?”
“I have been trying to ask you on a date for months and you haven’t taken the hint yet. Do you just not like me or am I just not being clear enough?”
“You want to take me on a date?” You furrowed your eyebrows.
“Yes. I do.” Peter answered, excited that you had finally understood.
“As friends?”
“No!” Peter groaned.
“As roommates? Oh, I get it. You want to go on a shopping date to IKEA to decorate our room now that we’re roommates.”
“What?! No. How does your mind even jump to that?” Peter whined and buried his face in his hands.
“I’m confused. Are we going to IKEA or not?”
“I WANT TO BE YOUR BOYFRIEND.” Peter picked his head up to exclaim.
“You want to be my boyfriend?” Your eyes widened.
“Yes. Finally.”
“But as friends, right?” You continued, making Peter slam his head down on the table.
“What do I have to do to get through to you? Get on my knees?” He asked you.
“It wouldn’t hurt.” You shrugged. And so, Peter got down on one knee and took your hand in his.
“Will you make me the happiest man in the world and let me take you on a date?” Peter asked as he looked into your eyes.
“A date? I thought you were proposing.” You replied, just messing with him now.
“Oh My God. This is impossible. I give up.” Peter got up and held up his hands in defense.
“Aw, what? You’re giving up right at the good part?” You smiled coyly as you stood up as well.
“Good part? What good-“
You cut Peter off by cupping his face to pull him into a kiss. Once he got over his initial shock, his eyes fluttered shut and he wrapped his arms around your waist to pull you closer. The team mates in the other room caught sight of this and had a misted reaction of smirks and eye rolls.
“How does tonight at 7 sound?” You asked once you pulled away.
“That sounds perfect.” Peter smiled as his face turned a shade of pink.
“Awesome. It’s a date.” You kissed his cheek before walking out of the room.
A few days later, the entire team piled onto the quintet to set out on another mission. Tony passed around the file to get everyone up to speed on the mission while you and Peter whispered things in each others ears and laughed quietly.
“Wow. This must be some kind of satanic ritual. All victims killed so far have been virgins.” Steve noted as he read through the file.
“Uh oh. Peter better stay home.” Sam snorted.
“Peters not a Virgin.” You laughed, making everyone fall silent. Peter shrunk down in his seat and turned bright red as you realized why everyone was staring at you in disgust.
“I’m guessing.” You quickly added.
“So I take it she finally got the hint, huh?” Sam asked Peter with an unamused expression.
“Yeah.” Peter smiled proudly. “She got it.”

+++
+++

Me eating this up right now omg
Ryker is my brother in law and I love him to death!!
AAAAA CONGRATS ON 1.2k!! May I ask about a match for Yuli and I? 🦭🦭🦭
A two parter :O
"Yuli! I have an idea about who to match you with...but you need to hear me out. I know it might seem strange at first, but the instincts are leading me here.
I think you should give a chance to Azul!"
Listen I know he's a shady octopus man and it would probably take Yuli a while to forgive him after his overblot, but I think Azul would like Yuli a lot! I could even see some cute moments with them!
Azul definitely denies any sort of crush on Yuli
but he's scrambling for attention and/or getting any sort of positive reaction out of Yuli
Azul really likes Yuli's more bold and resourceful side
though Yuli might not truest him much at first, he's trying really hard to get her to trust him and prove he's not some shady business man
Yuli gets discounts at the Mostro Lounge (not Grim tho)
listen, Yuli is the badass cool one and Azul is the one that likes to think he's super cool but is a flustered mess around her
But Azul would try to help Yuli out whenever he can, no matter if it's fixing something in Ramshackle or fighting off another overblot
he'd love to help Yuli build a life in twisted wonderland with him
(forgive me, Azul has prevented me from saying any more on the topic)
"Birb my good friend! I gotta be honest, I'm torn between two people for you. But I gotta think of the long run and who would be best for you overall.
That's why I pair you with Silver!"
We talk about Silver a lot and while I couldn't guarantee you getting your fav, I honestly don't see any other match for you that works as well as he does! He just is perfect for you!
Birds? Birds.
animals and little birds will surround you two when Silver is around
He's so soft normally but there is a new level of soft when he's around you
he just has a gentle smile on his face and loves giving you gentle little kisses
you make him feel so relaxed, and he often falls asleep in your company, but he trusts you
let him sleep on your shoulder of lap pls
he loves how caring and kind you are especially towards animals
PLS OPEN A LITTLE ANIMAL SANCTUARY TOGETHER THAT WOULD BE SO CUTE
I see little picnic dates in the woods for you two
and he will gently kiss your hand too
Silver loves to spend as much time with you as possible, and will randomly give you compliments about the littlest things
he is SO observant when it comes to you too
anytime he notices slight discomfort or anything he's stepping in to help
(me planning the wedding for you two rn)

Fairytale Beginning
Pairing: Gepard Landau x reader
Fandom: Honkai: Star Rail
Genre: fluff
A/N: This is part of the Masked Fools' August collab, Fairytale! Check out our other awesome writers there <3
Gepard Landau is so much more than just your fairytale ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since you were little, you had always wanted to live out a fairy tale.
At first, you wanted to be the knight who slayed the dragon and saved the kingdom. People would cheer and call you their hero, and throw flowers at you- blooms that you had never seen in real life. Then, as you grew up, you wished for a gallant prince to come and save you from the depths of the Underground where the Supreme Guardian had halted transport between the two worlds, trapping the less fortunate down in the dark. Finally, when the blockade had been lifted and the Stellaron banished, you made your way up to the surface, and met the prince you had always wanted.
Gepard’s eyes were deep and honest, and so very blue. The first time you saw him, you had thought to yourself, they’re the color of the sky. It was a comparison that you hadn’t been able to make until that morning, when you emerged from the caverns and saw the azure light above you for the first time. When you spoke to him, he made you forget the darkness that stretched below the surface of the city. He took you to a cafe with flowers in the window and made you smile and laugh and dream for the first time since you stopped wishing to be a knight, and started wishing for a prince.
It seemed too good to be true when you started dating Gepard. How could one man be so kind and wonderful? But as you would come to learn, Gepard wasn’t perfect- he had his quirks like everyone else. He wouldn’t eat meat that was overcooked, and needed his bathwater to be scalding before he even thought about stepping foot in it. He couldn’t grow flowers for the life of him- he had left an entire planter full of ball peonies he was saving for your one-year anniversary in the sun for too long and cried when he saw that they had wilted. And of course, as the captain of the Silvermane Guards, he spent more time on the front lines than he did in your arms, and left you wondering just when you would see him again.
But despite it all, you loved him. You loved him more than the sky and the grass and the flowers you had always dreamed of seeing. So when he got down on one knee in front of the Everwinter Monument and pulled out a sapphire ring, you said yes- and later on, I do.
On the day of your wedding beneath the vast blue sky, hands joined with your lover’s in holy matrimony, you finally realized that Gepard Landau was not your fairytale ending- your lives together were only just beginning.
