This reminds me of a time not too long ago (read: Very Recently) while taking a walk in the park with some friends during a warm but breezy afternoon.  Naturally, there were many birds about, seeing as birds famously love parks and wandering about them.  Well unfortunately for one small bird (one of those little black birds with the yellow beaks I forget their names) there was a hawk searching for lunch (it was 2pm, viable bird lunching hours), and it swooped in on the littel guy and absolutely ganked the poor thing.  It wasn’t a clean lift off though, the hawk was struggling to get away with its chosen meal as the little birdie wasn’t ready to give up the ghost just yet.  Now my friends and I were a little ways off.  See, there’s this little man made lake (pond? it’s not that big) that has a trail you can walk around, and we were on the opposite side of the water from this event, absolutely captivated by the feat of nature taking place before us.  Some other’s also noticed the battle occurring, but none were quite as attentive as the ducks and lone goose that were swimming in the pond.  The ducks were first to make their way to the front row seats of the water bank and the goose, who was closer to our side of the water, turned its attention fully towards the commotion and started gliding over to spectate.  Now I can’t fully be sure why these other birds felt compelled to get so close, but I imagine it’s similar to watching a car crash for them.  Anyway, this all takes place in the span of a minute or two while the birds are struggling with each other and by golly the little rascal does it! It breaks free and there’s a brief chase until the little guy dives straight into the hedge and the hawk attempts to follow but cannot seem to find the little guy in there - absolutely outplayed.  So now he has to find a new lunch, which it will be lucky to find before 2:30pm as many other little birds fled the scene.  Meanwhile the little bird can enjoy the mirth of victory and life from within the hedges. Absolutely fantastic.
it must be so fun to be a bird and go into a hedge 😆

My comic for SENSORY: Life on the Spectrum! Organised by Schnumn.
On harm reduction and understanding NSSI! Many autistic folk have normalised harmful behaviours as coping mechanisms in our daily lives and this comic is meant to help people recognise their self injuring behaviours and (hopefully) begin to see pathways to reducing their frequency.

we need to make an add-on that gives you the dictionary definition of queerbait every time you make a post accusing a show of it because i saw someone call bowser/luigi queerbaiting and. i have officially had enough. if you hand to god thought that nintendo entertainment was going to let that lizard turtle monster raw the little green plumber guy then that is entirely your fault. i cannot help you any more.

For the Autistic Comic Takeover on Twitter this year, I wrote about special interests in academia
Special interests are something that should be celebrated in academia, not shied away from, so I wanted to take some time to talk about it! It took me longer than it should have to realize I could, in fact, pursue the field I wanted to.  Academia can be incredibly intimidating, but it’s not actually as rigid as it seems on the outside.  New fields of study are cropping up all of the time because someone simply wanted to pursue a curiosity of theirs. At the end of the day, academia isn’t for everyone and that’s totally ok!  However, if you really do love the academic world and want to be in that space, there is room for you, even if you need a little help figuring out where exactly you fit.  Your ideas matter!

Recently read Hell Screen, it's a pretty dang good short story, if not brutal. Gonna probably take a look at Dream of a Red Chamber after finishing Wuthering Heights for the 50 billionth time. This probably sounds like a really weird reading list to some of you. That means you're safe.
