Kind of an analysis, kind of an idea for the Rick and Morty future. Starring...

Memory Rick!

Ok. I'm gonna get straight to the point. I believe that Memory Rick was kept alive on purpose. And I also believe that they put him in Jerry's mind on purpose.

It just seems pointless, does it not? To have this derpy derp parading aimlessly around in Jerry's mind without reason? No. I think the writers have something big planned. I think that there's a very, very special, very important reason why Memory Rick is still alive and in Jerry's mind. This could be for a number of reasons. I'm sure the list of possibilities could go on forever, but I want to share what I'd like to see happen.

I want to see Memory Rick escape Jerry's mind in a desperate attempt to save the Smith family.

Here's an idea of how it all could go down. I'm going to use Rick Prime for an example.

What if the theory is true and Rick Prime did implant a virus inside of Rick? He would take over his entire mind and body (hence why Memory Rick was removed from Rick's mind. To keep him from being destroyed). And he would probably use C-137 to manipulate the family and/or put them in danger.

Even though he's a memory, Memory Rick is still a conjured part of C-137, and I think he could kick anyone's booty if he truly had to. Plus, I've always wanted to see Memory Rick interact with the Smith family; it'd probably be awkward, but funny and maybe even cathartic. Wouldn't it be funny if he gave Jerry endless crap for being stuck in his mind so long? Let's not forget that he has all the intelligence AND experience from C-137 that he needs to do what has to be done to protect everyone.

May I also point out that the Jerrick trap happened before Unmortricken, so if Rick Prime did implant a virus, the writers got Memory Rick out of there just in time. Just saying...

I don't think this will actually happen, but holy cannoli, I want it to!!!! I'll probably have to end up writing this idea instead though, but it was fun to share.

Something that's constantly debated within the fandom is why Trots, Muir, Addair, Roper, Raffs, O'Connor, Gibbo and Rennick were mutated alive, whilst others were left for dead or absorbed.

A popular theory is traumatic experiences or mental health issues makes them a target, which could be supported by this exchange from the reddit AMA

'The base game has lines that hint at a reason for this', 'Caz doesn't have all the information necessary to get a full explanation'.

These two lines could suggest that mental health could be associated to this- because all the infected characters have mental health issues, and Caz WOULD NOT have all the information about his colleagues mental health.

Theory continues below cut

-Trots is obviously stressed, made even clearer by his lines about 'telling them it's not right' and overall acting very stressed and shifty with how he moves. Another thing confirmed in the AMA is that Trots doesn't have much family left, and that he likely has OCD, and a thing about OCD is when people who have OCD are stressed they can to fall back on their compulsions, such as slamming a washing machine door. Even ignoring his behaviour when infected Trots' body posture and tone when talking to Gibbo and O'Connor is telling of stress.

-Muir is less obvious than some of the others, but his infected lines may imply he has fear of abandonment or even anxiety

-Addair obviously has something bad going on with one of his sons, with his condition being bad enough Trots wishes him well. We know this effects him a lot since some of his infected lines are about having to call his kids.

-Roper's position is stressing and in both the current and previous versions of the script he is shown to look over the other workers and take things into his own hands, having a very strained relationship with Rennick where he likely receives most of the backlash, enough that he's scared of Rennick when Infected. Therefore it would not be far fetched to assume his mental health may not be great.

-Raffs likely has anxiety and is actively terrified of going into the diving bell, enough that in the previous script he ended up puking- and is implied to have done the same in the current script when on the AMA it is said that its why Trots was in the bathroom when he got mutated.

-O'Connor lives in a leaky room and dislikes being in the pontoons as implied in the OG script, he is even shown agreeing with Trots about the state of the Beira. There are also two lines of his that stand out, 'She's all I got now', and 'I don't know what to do... Not again,' these lines [along with others] imply that's he's lost someone or people, a traumatic experience. [Also interesting, that second line implies he was stuck watching something happen- and is now forced to do that again by being stuck to the wall]

-Gibbo was also under stress to get things done like Roper, and has a newborn on land which could cause extra stress, he also has a photo of his mother- but not his father. Another thing that Gibbo has seen it under the rig already, which could cause him stress... Or imply he was already in the shapes sights.

-Rennick was forced to stay on the rig over Christmas instead of seeing his family and is very stressed from his position.

This is just a theory though, please add more if you think I missed anything!
