Part 3 of 3. Sam Winchester.
We are both sam girls so it's only fitting we saved him til last. This one focuses on his battle with demon blood-lust. Being able to hug Jared Padalecki in person was a dream!

Part 1 of 3. Dean Winchester.
😊 a creative attempt with a basic reference. Incredibly proud of this peice. One of mikis favourites. We love using a simple reference and then styling it with our imagination, this is a perfect example of how we paint our love for characters.

When youve been a writer for long enough, commas become more of a spiritual practice than a grammatical one.
Could I explain the actual rules of how they’re used? Absolutely not.
Do I rely on sensing a tremor in the force to tell me where to use them? Yes and this has never failed me even once.
#it has failed me many times#because no one understands that the comma needs to be there for pacing#not necessarily grammar#sentence flow is super important but no one gets it

no character or plotline will ever fully explore an issue from every point of view, and that's okay. art can and should be a starting point for a discussion rather than seen as a 'one size fits all'. each and every person who experiences a story will see it in a different way, will pick up on things that someone else didn't, and might find a viewpoint that speaks specifically to them that even the creator themselves didn't intend.
art is a conversation, not a textbook. it is not supposed to tell you a fact, but rather show you an inkblot test and ask what you see.

Kittridge seeing Donloe with Ethan’s team is so fucking funny cuz like, he sent that guy to the Arctic thirty years ago to get rid of him and keep the vault break-in quiet and now he's inexplicably back again, and he's working with the guy who broke into the vault.
From Kittridge's perspective, every time Ethan Hunt shows up it's like a hit parade of all the ghosts of the U.S. government's past. No wonder Kittridge is so exasperated with him.
#mission impossible#ethan hunt#gotta love how ethan just has a pack of strays that he uses to save to world and cause problems for the establishment

That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.

How do we know/guess how Latin was pronounced?
I can't find the post where I talked about this before, but basically there are two ways.
1) Because Latin transitioned from a living language (in the Roman Empire) to the language of scholars and clerics (in the Middle Ages) without a gap, the pronunciation was passed down from teacher to student. It almost definitely shifted a bit over time though, due to human error and the lack of recording devices. This handed-down version is called Ecclesiastical Pronunciation.
2) In the early 20th century (iirc) scholars attempted to compensate for shifting pronunciation by reconstructing how Latin might have been pronounced in Ancient Rome. The version they came up with is called Classical Pronunciation.
There are valid reasons for choosing either pronunciation, and you'll meet latinists hotly in favour of each. 😜

Excuse me, WHY did Supernatural not give us REAL angel wings???
Angel wings being solid physical tangible, but invisible, things. Angel wings being able to knock things over and wrap around people to stop bullets. Angel wings having feathers, real ones, that sometimes get left behind.
Angel wings being part of an interdimensional being, and disappearing completely when folded away, but then springing back when they get unfurled.
Angel wings coming permanently unfurled when the Angel dies.
Angel feathers becoming visible when they fall off.
Angel wings always being the same no matter what human vessel an angel is in.
Sam being able to see angel wings.
Sam meeting Cas, who unfurls his wings and Sam just about falling over in shock.
Sam complimenting Cas on his beautiful iridescent black wings, and Cas looking at him in confusion because "You are the boy with demon blood. You are unclean. You should not be able to see that." (But Sam can because faith is about what's in his HEART not his BLOOD).
Sam realizing that Dean can't see them.
Sam never talking about it to Cas again. At least not for a long time.
Dean on the verge of getting turned into Swiss cheese, Sam unable to help, and suddenly Cas is there, unfurling his wings and folding them around Dean, and Dean can't see the wings, he just sees bullets hitting the ground, but Sam looks at Cas and murmurs, "Thank you."
Sam always being able to see angel wings.
Sam finding Jack for the first time, and there's two little feathery lumps sticking out of Jack's shoulders, and they're wet with blood, and after he knocks Jack out, he cleans Jack's back up, and washes the stumps and their little feathers, and stitches up the broken skin, and cuts holes in the shirt he gives Jack to make sure it won't rub over them.
Jack's wings growing so fast that some days he can hear his bones creak, and the pain makes him cranky and it's hard for him to focus to control his powers. Him begging Sam to help, because Cas is gone, and Dean says that real angels aren't born, they're created, fully fledged and already knowing how to use and control their wings, they don't bleed and cry and ache because their bones and muscles are changing so much, and that's just one more thing that makes Jack a monster, a creature that should never have been.
Sam teaching himself massage techniques off YouTube to give Jack back rubs.
Jack asking Sam if he's seen his father's Lucifer's wings. Sam nodding slowly, because he hates to think about it. Jack begging Sam to tell him what they looked like, because that's probably what Jack's will become. Sam really, really not wanting to say, but Jack starts to get mad, so Sam tells him. "They were black. But not iridescent like Cas's or soft black like the night time. Black like dried blood. And they burn when you touch them. But ice burn, not like fire. And the feathers cut skin easy." He reaches out to gently brush the mottled plumage on one of Jack's now-five foot long wings, smooth his fingers down their soft edges. "So I already know you're not like him. You're going to have something better. Something beautiful."
Jack constantly knocking things over with his growing wings, cause he still hasn't figured out how to hide them.
Jack wrapping his wings around himself when he's sad or scared.
Jack coming up behind Sam to give him a hug, and wrapping his wings around Sam too.
Dean avoiding Jack because he can't tell how big the wings are and he is sick of getting smacked in the head or the gut when Jack moves, or walking face first into a wall of feathers. Also it reminds Dean of Cas too much.
Sam being unable to resist running his fingers over Jack's wings, because they're so soft and beautiful, and when he does it at the top, closer to Jack's shoulders, Jack giggles suddenly. And that's how he discovers that Jack is ticklish in some spots, but he's always super careful never to do that without some warning, because he doesn't want Jack to accidentally fling him into a wall. Again.
Jack's wings getting bigger and bigger, and eventually with trial and error (almost getting one wing sliced off in the dimensional transition) he figures out how to furl them just as a matter of survival.
Cas coming back and trying to teach Jack how to fly, but it's awkward because he never had to learn, he was just created knowing, and he never thought of Jack needing to learn. There are a few frustrating, exhausting days, and one night Jack goes to Sam because his back hurts from all the exercise, and he misses Sam taking care of him, and he kinda airs out his frustrations and fears, and Sam tells him he'll figure it out, both he and Cas will.
They do, of course.
They go flying one day, and Sam and Dean come along, and it's high summer, and they drive out into the farmlands, and a thunderstorm has just gone over, and the sun comes out, and the wheat fields lay out under the clearing sky, all heavy and ripe and golden brown. Jack unfurls his wings, and Sam laughs suddenly because that is what colour they are! The same colour of a ripe wheat field, lovely warm golden brown, and the sun shimmers on their edges, and Sam turns to Dean and says, "That's what colour they are," pointing to the field, and after a minute Dean lights up a little, because he's always been a little jealous of Sam's ability to see angel wings, he's only seen Cas's once, but suddenly for a second he thinks he can see Jack's. And they are beautiful.
Cas and Jack go flying up in the air, and Sam kinda follows along on the ground, slowly, like a worried parent, but he can hear Jack and Cas calling to each other, and Jack laughing, and then Sam's running, like a kid chasing seagulls, trying to catch something always out of reach, running along the edge of a field, and Jack and Cas fly higher and higher, shining in the sun, up toward the clouds, and Sam has to stop, breathless, staring up after them, chest aching with longing more than lack of air. They are out of his reach, they are something bright and beautiful and holy, something he can never touch, and he stands there for a while, not wanting to walk back and see Dean's face, judging him.
And then Jack comes diving back down, stooping like a falcon straight down toward Sam, and Sam's heart kind of stutters in his chest, but with an enormous beat of his wings, that flattens the wheat and the grass, he catches himself up, just before he hits the ground. His landing is a little wobbly, but his whole face is shining, not the blue glow of angel-grace, but the warm living brightness of pure joy, his cheeks red with effort and excitement, and his wind-blown hair a riot of sunshine gold. "Come with me!" he says, catching at Sam's hand, and Sam doesn't have time to understand before he is yanked up into the air.
Sam discovering (once he stops screaming, but really it was only one yelp) that flying is AMAZING, and Jack wraps his arms around Sam's chest, and Sam can feel him working for it, and he knows Jack must be tapping into his angel powers, but the world is spreading out below them, and Sam takes big gasping gulps of air, and it tastes so sweet, washed clean by the rainstorm still racing away to the east.
Sam held safe and tight in Jack's arms, flying over the wheat fields, and he feels like a drowning man dragged from the ocean, he can breathe again, and he feels so incredibly light.
Cas goes down to attempt the same with Dean, and narrowly escapes getting his hand sliced off, because NO THANK YOU, Dean is perfectly happy on the ground, there is a REASON humans do not have wings, get AWAY, Cas, go make sure Jack doesn't drop him. And Cas finally gives up and goes back up, leaving Dean to pull a beer out of the trunk and sit on the hood and watch.
Jack taking Sam up higher and higher, up to the clouds, until Sam has to tell him the air's too thin for him to breathe.
Sam telling Jack to let go of him, because he wants to know what free-fall is like, and then they get caught in warm air current on the way down, and they both kind of float on it, Sam spread-eagled like a skydiver, Jack beside him, and Sam rolls over, too happy to laugh or even speak, and he looks up at Jack's big strong wings, and he smiles at Jack with so much awe and pride, and it's not just the wind pulling tears from his eyes. And for just a few magical moments the two of them hang there over the great expanse of Kansas below them, and Jack reaches out to take Sam's hand, because inside him there is also a little boy who is unspeakably happy, and he wants to hold his dad's hand.
Jack and Cas getting goofy with Sam while flying, and throwing him back and forth between them.
Sam laughing and yelling, and Dean down below dying of laughter at his giant brother, all flailing arms and legs, getting tossed around like a human baseball by an angel and a half-angel. (What have their lives come to?)
They all watch the sunset before they head back, and they sit in the hayfield, Cas, Jack, Sam, and Dean, and Jack carefully unfurls his wings to wrap around them all, and Dean doesn't shove away the feathers that drape over his shoulder.
Sam noticing that Jack's wings are more vulnerable to wounds and damage because he's half human.
Sam always losing his breath a little when Jack unfurls his wings because they've gotten even bigger than Cas's.
Jack's wings getting faded and a little ragged in Purgatory, but shyly unfurling them to show Lucifer, who makes an annoyed comment about them being an awful colour, before he remembers he's supposed to be trying to build a relationship with Jack.
Jack's wings getting bloodstains when he's with Lucifer, and Luicfer telling him he should be proud, but Jack can see it darkening his feathers, and turning them the same colour as Lucifer's, and it makes him feel sick. Him protecting Sam with his wings during the fight between Lucifer and Michael, and then Sam sees the bloodstains.
Sam helping Jack wash and preen his wings, and holy oil takes the stains out, and Sam uses every last drop they have because he knows exactly how Jack feels, and he wants Jack to feel clean again.
Sam seeing how Jack's feathers are horribly dull and falling out in big clumps when Jack is sick and dying. Jack specifically giving Sam and Dean each one of his most beautiful primaries before he dies, that first time.
Sam gently folding Jack's practically skeletal wings up around his dead body.
Sam watching Jack's wings grow their feathers back when he gets resurrected.
Sam sometimes thinking about how every angel's wings are the right colour for them, but he couldn't explain most of them if he tried.
Sam being able to see angel wings, everyone.

No couple on TV makes me as insane as Olivia Dunham and Peter Bishop. They find each other in every time. They shouldn’t know each other but fate demands it. I want to gnaw through a bone when I think about them
