aegon couldn’t shake the image of his mother’s deflated, and utterly DISGUSTED expression off his head. she’d seldom looked at him with anything akin to sympathy & pride, but never had he seen her looking so— so DEFEATED. like aegon was a battle and she had just lost it. like there was absolutely NOTHING she could or would want to do for him anymore .. and somehow he couldn’t even blame her for feeling that way. how could he ?

not all mothers walk in on their princely son lying in bed with a naked woman AND a man instead of his wedded wife, after all.

but could she, really ? was there anywhere he could run to at this point, any place that hasn’t been tainted by war already ?

HIS FACE, which he could no longer recognize, was turned away from the prying eyes with his lifeless legs lying limp under the covers.

is this how father felt towards the end ? he wondered, and he would have SMILED BITTERLY if the slightest move of muscle didn’t make him groan in agony. rotting slowly and painfully and pitifully, knowing that the end is nigh.
