even if you're not a supernatural fan, if you've been on tumblr long enough you are, like, culturally. like cultural christianity in america except it's the cw's supernatural. you may never have watched an episode or set foot inside the tag but your regular life shuts down on their holidays and all of your world news is delivered through that point of view. something to think about

i'm a little surprised at how much people are holding on to the idea that ttpd is a break up album about joe. there is a reason why you're losing me was on midnights and not ttpd.

ttpd is not about the how or why this relationship ended- it's about the aftermath, the chaos of trying to find yourself again, only to discover you once again made the same mistake of loving someone who won't fight for you. ttpd is about getting hit with realization that now you have two broken hearts that need mending, because forcing yourself to ignore the past just leads to it fucking up your present. ttpd is about the longing for a home you can't return to, and then resenting yourself for even wanting to return to a home that broke you.

i feel like people misunderstand the theme of the album by trying to decide which songs are about about who. the whole point of the album is to that it's both of them- and more- at the same time.

i kind of love how few of the songs are explicitly about joe. like their relationship was completely out of the limelight and for the most part, she respected his privacy on this album. she even acknowledges this is intentional in "How Did It End?" don't get me wrong, her heartbreak for joe is evident in every song, even the ones about matty healy, but the number of songs/lines about joe are limited or vague. i think it speaks to how well she knows him and how much she still cares for him, even if it's no longer romantic. that being said, kind of surprised about how many of the songs are about matty healy. it feels like she said he's already popular so all bets off.

I’m gonna conclude this department meeting by saying:

Taylor and Jack need to take a musical break from each other because it seems like they’ve gotten too comfortable together in the studio and aren’t challenging each other anymore. Also Aaron Dessner is a king, a saint, an angel, and the best thing to happen to Taylor’s music.
