“…Whatever is making Gara scream like that, he can handle it on his own.” Why did she decide to be Doctor Loudmouth’s roommate again? Oh yeah, cause she was a lonely loser otherwise.
Guess who’s popping his head around the corner? Shyly peaking beyond the doorway, the lower half of his face hidden.
“So he really is living with someone... incredible...”

minervassoul:
She was slacking when it came to her practice. She really needed to get into it and start up again. Granted, she doubted that she was going to get out of here soon, but that was no excuse. She still needed to due her soccer practice! Who knows if someone from her world would ever show up here? She needed new tricks - Although.. when she had kicked the ball, she had kicked it a little too far. Too far, to the point where she had kicked it off the field she was using to practice and.. Oh geez! Did she almost hit somebody -!?
The guard ran up to them, glad to see that her ball didn’t actually hit them. She sighed of relief. The ball near her was sparking with small bursts of electricity. That was no magic trick or powers of hers. That was just what happened when Thunder players like her passed or kicked the ball.
❛ A-are you alright…? Sorry for almost hitting you..! ❜
@sunriseray
“WHOA!”
Taiyou was quick to duck as a soccer ball came flying toward his head, nearly knocking him over. He tilted sideways just a bit to see where it had gone to before a girl’s concerned voice caught his attention and he stood right back up to face her.
“I’m fine, miss... But... did you kick that? It was going so hard and fast, I’ve never seen someone send a soccer ball flying like a bullet was shot out of a gun! You kicked it so hard it’s static-y... That’s amazing!”

He was having a perfectly fine day! Whistling a tune as he picked up a box full of makeshift robotic parts, turning around to place it on the table next to him–
“Hi, Gara-san!”
“AAAAAH!”
HOLY FUCK!
The box went into the air and landed behind him. Upside down. There went all of his parts. Did he hear glass breaking??!
Standing right under him was that kid from the Vanguard world, smiling up all cutely at him. This kid was fucking dangerous, more so than Gao. God dammit.
“Oh greeeaaaaat, great. You’re back. What do you want? Who the fuck told you where my lab was?”
“Hi, Gara-san!”
The surprised cry and toss of the box didn’t disturb the sweet smile on Taiyou’s face. He stood up straight, hands still behind his back, ignoring the biting tone Gara spat at him upon realizing just who entered his lair.
“Tasuku told me! I asked about you, wondering if you were still here and decided to come visit. Wow, this is the coolest place I’ve ever seen... so this is a scientist’s lab...”
Taiyou ducked under Gara and of course began touching and poking at his odd experiments and whatever the heck... was in that glass vile. No, he’s not asking. No.
“So how are you?”
NO, PUT IT BACK!

“Uh, ‘friends’ is a little bit of a strong word… He’s definitely been trying, though, so it’s a huge improvement from before! I’m sure he’ll open up a little more once he sees you too!”
Were those happy tears? Typical Taiyou, he was so pure and caring for his friends! Tasuku let go of him only to take both of his hands.
“Hey Taiyou, let’s go back home together! Your room in the house is still exactly as it was before… We kept it clean for you in case you ever came back! I have so much to tell you about too…”
In the midst of his excitement, Tasuku seemed to remember his place.
“Oh, if you don’t have plans, of course! Sorry, I got a little bit ahead of myself there…”
Taiyou didn’t want to feel like a burden. Just like all the other times he was ready to decline moving in, but hearing that Tasuku went through the trouble of keeping it clean just for him, how could he? He didn’t have the heart to belittle his friend’s good gesture.
“I just got here, silly! I haven’t made any plans, and I’d love to hear what’s been going on. Oh, can we make pot stew together again? I know it’s late Summer still but it was so much fun last time.”
Chrono getting heated over the semantics of stew? Now that’s always a good time!
“We can have dinner while we talk. A nice homecoming for me. Is that too much?”

Aw, this kid was cute. Tetsuya couldn’t help but give a warm and welcoming smile on return. At least all the humans he had met so far were nice! Maybe this place wasn’t so bad after all.
“So, like, you also summon monsters to fight for you? But you don’t get a Buddy? That’s laaaaaame!” Though he wasn’t one to talk, considering he didn’t even have a contract in the first place. He had a buddy, not a Buddy. And he was fine with that.
“Are there any cool Vanguard Monsters runnin’ around here? Or is it just the human players around this place? Not that humans aren’t tight or anything. Look at all this cool stuff you guys can make.” He gestured around to their surroundings rather vaguely.
“Yeah! But...they’re not as real as they would be in Buddyfight. I always dreamed of playing Vanguard that way. Maybe one day! We do use powerful imaginations to bring the power of Cray to our world - but um, that’s a different story for next time!”
Taiyou sagely nodded his head and folded his arms. Tetsuya would have to get a better explanation from Chrono.
“No. That would be pretty neat too! Just us humans, though. I know Chrono has Chronodran!”

By now, Tasuku had no doubt that he would be a resident of Hive City for a very long time. But with Taiyou there with him, Tasuku didn’t really care. In fact, if Taiyou was going to be here, then the scientists could keep Tasuku as long as they wanted. That’s what Tasuku felt as they shared their warm embrace.
“Heheh. I never want to be separated from you again either! And it looks like they don’t want to get rid of me just yet, so…”
“I’m all yours! If you need anything, just say the word, and I’ll come running! By the way, where did they assign you this time? Do you wanna come back to the house again? Chrono’s still there too, and Shouji-san moved in recently.”
“I’m not sure what’s worse for someone. Tossing them back and forth like a yo-yo or keeping them here for as long as you and Chrono.” Taiyou’s smile faltered for a bit. Hey, that feeling was mutual though. So long as Chrono and Tasuku were here, Taiyou didn’t mind his stay in Hive City.
Plus, he made a new amazing friend every time! It wasn’t so bad.
“Sector oo1, apartment P!”
“K-Kazuma-san...he... he--” Whoa there buddy, calm down! The idea of Kazuma making friends with everyone made him positively glow!
“I’m so happy...! I was so worried about him, but knowing he’s made friends with all of you... I...”
No, there aren’t tears in his eyes. Don’t be ridiculous.

chroyes:
“Taiyou…. TAIYOU!!”
Just the mere sight of his smaller teammate made his heart overflow with concern and relief. It was always bittersweet to see your loved ones arrive in such a hellscape such as Hive, but as long as they would arrive, Chrono would see to it that he would take care of them. Point being, he wasted no time dashing up to the younger and throwing his arms around him for a crushing hug.
“Youuuu….!
“Don’t… leave without saying goodbye like that… dummy.”
“HUAGHH! Chro... Chrono...! Ah...!!” Taiyou laughed out of giddiness as his best friend greeted him with a powerful bearhug. He playfully pushed away, then pouted.
“Aww, hey! You make it sound like it’s all my fault, you... you big meanie!”
Even after the embrace broke, Taiyou grabbed onto Chrono’s arm and practically dangled off of it. Man, was he happiest at seeing him still here! His world was dark and cold without him around.
“Thank goodness. Tasuku was here so I had hoped to see you too! Tell those dumb scientists they need to let me stay!”

“It’s all good, my man! Ya don’t gotta apologize. I’ve been mistakin’ peeps for Buddy Monsters left and right, I ain’t got no room to talk.”
He did nod enthusiastically at Taiyou’s questions however. At least he didn’t have to try and explain all of this Buddyfight stuff to him! Bless Tasuku Ryuenji. Bless him.
“Yup! I’m not sure if all of ‘em got a Buddy Monster equivalent, just Noboru and Tasuku as far as I know. And, uh, ya don’t gotta use my full title like that. You can just call me Tets to avoid the confusion. But it’s nice to meetcha too, Taiyou!” He held out a hand for the other boy to shake.
“Does this mean you’re from a world where there ain’t no Buddyfight? That’s hecka weird. What’s it like?”
“Tasuku and Noboru-san, too? Wow! That’s so incredible. I hope I get to meet them as well one day.”
Taiyou took Tetsuya’s hand between two others and gave a firm shake with the most precious smile. Making new friends was always so much fun here in Hive City.
“Un! I come from a world where we play a similar card game. It’s called Vanguard. We don’t have Buddies, but it’s still pretty much the same concept, and the game is a lot of fun!”

That small stature… That crown of chestnut… Not to mention, the huge, shining auburn eyes that had looked to Tasuku with recognition…!
“Taiyou!”
Unable to hold back his zeal, Tasuku ran towards Taiyou and hugged him tightly. This time, he could be sure that Taiyou had remembered him. He squeezed him tighter and tighter, just loving the way Taiyou radiated warmth.
“You’re back in the city! I missed you so much…!”
There was no time to yell out his name as happily as Tasuku had his own! He already closed the space and brought Taiyou into a warm welcoming embrace and he giggled while arms swung around him, a cheek nuzzling into his shoulder.
Tasuku was, despite being the same age, something of a big brother to him. He adored him just as much as he did Chrono!

“Tasuku!! Every time I show up, I always get afraid that the people I know are gone. It’s so good to see you again... I missed you too! Hopefully this time they’ll let me stay for a lot longer. I don’t want to be away from you again!”

“Say what?”
Tetsuya tilted his head, scratching his cheek as he stared at the stranger in confusion. Party? He hadn’t had time to throw any parties. What was this guy talking– oh.
Seriously, how hecking popular is the other me…?
“Er, I hate to burst your bubble, but you gots the wrong Tetsuya, dawg. I mean, yeah, I’m Tetsuya, but I ain’t that Tetsuya, ya dig? I’m Dancing Magician, Tetsuya! From Dungeon World!”
“Oh... OH! Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to get it wrong!” Taiyou placed his hands up and lowered his head out of embarrassment. He only hoped he hadn’t insulted him!
“Dungeon World? That’s...that’s a world that comes from Buddyfight - from Tasuku’s world. My friends have Buddy Monster counterparts? That’s so cool! I’m Asukawa Taiyou. It’s so nice to meet you, Dancing Magician, Tetsuy!”

“Yo, they’ve brought you here, like, four times? That’s mega whack! How do you even deal?”
“I don’t know! Eheh... I-I guess I stopped being surprised after last time. I don’t remember my very first visit, but I remember the rest. That’s okay though!
“How are you, Tetsuya-san? It’s been a while! I still remember that party you threw, I had major fun.”

… Right. He took it literal. Doctor Gara never felt more idiotic than right now, whereas he was faced with a child that had a mouth running five times faster than any other kid he’d met in this city. Not to mention he was disgustingly pure and sweet…
Gross.
“Absolutely none of that is going to happen. I’m not sorry for what I did, even if I’m not doing it anymore. Your view of the world is just as black and white as that irritating Ryuenji! No wonder the two of you get along.”
For crying out loud, he was still standing there, staring up at him with those burgundy puppy eyes. Gara wanted to vomit.
“… You want ice cream or something? If I buy you ice cream, will you screw off?”
“Wuh-- HEY! You asked me, I gave you an answer! What do you mean you’re not going to do any of that?” Taiyou’s cheeks puffed out in a pout as he folded his arms, glaring up at the doctor indignantly. He refused to let this go! He had a chance to make a difference, and he would force Gara to apologize even if it meant--
“… You want ice cream or something?”
“.......................................... Ice cream isn’t going to heal my friends.”
“But if you want me off of your back for now, yes. Buy me ice cream. Prove to me you can be a nice guy and I’ll leave you alone.”
Hey. Free ice cream. He can’t pass that up.

“You’re dead wrong if you think I’m trying to make you believe it or that I care if you do or not! I really don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone’s opinions of me!”
That was the loudest, most profound lie he told himself.
All of this change, every ounce of venom leaving his body. It was due to one singular person… Someone he refused to ever see again.
“What do you want, kid? What’s it gonna take to get you to scram and get the hell off of my back?”
Taiyou confused himself for a good couple of minutes at Doctor Gara’s declaration of not caring.
Most villains who were trying to get closer to their enemies would lie and make a huge stink about becoming good for the benefit of the world, right? That’s what he saw in television shows. But what if Doctor Gara knew it and was lying about not caring? Or maybe he was telling the truth...
Ugh, my head hurts!
“Good question. You could start by patching up the hole you put in the kitchen! And apologize to Tasuku, Noboru, Gao, Kakeru-sensei, and Tetsuya for crashing his party. Let’s see, what else...”
Blast from the past.

“Taiyou…!” Feeling immense happiness well up within him, Tasuku hugs Taiyou tightly. “I feel the same way!”
“You do plenty just by being here. When we’re together, I feel like we can get through anything!”
Taiyou giggled as Tasuku embraced him and he more than willingly returned the affection and gave a bit of a nuzzle with his cheek. He could always turn his frown upside down with ease.
“You’re too kind, really! And it does... you always give me strength and lift me up. It’s no wonder everyone looks up to you! You’re such a wonderful senpai.”
