Supergirl/Kara Danvers x Reader
Oh yeah…part five! Somehow it’s still going! And hold on folks, this one contains minor angst (wow! Me writing angst?!) Enjoy.
CW: Slight angst, mentions of blood, knife, injury
Mysterious Kryptonian Fly Pt.5
After arriving in the kitchen, you put one AirPod in so you can listen to music while you cook but also so you can keep an ear out for Kara.
You press play on your favorite playlist and start gathering the ingredients for your famous soup. Around half an hour later the base of the soup is on the stove and you’re cutting up vegetables to put in later.
This recipe takes a while but you know it’s Kara’s favorite so you don’t mind making it especially if it helps her feel even a little bit better.
As you handle and cook around the kitchen, Kara wakes from her nap. At first she doesn’t open her eyes, but she can tell you aren’t next to her anymore so she uses her superheating and hears low music and rhythmic chopping, the sound of a knife on a cutting board. And your soft humming.
She smiles, opening her eyes, using her x-ray vision to confirm you’re in the kitchen which makes her smile wider when she sees you dancing adorably around as you cooked.
Kara yawns and closes her eyes again, keeping her superhearing active, the sounds of you cooking so peaceful to her that if you can’t be snuggled up to her, this is the next best thing.
She’s not sure how much time passes as she dozes lightly, still listening to you, but her eyes snap open when she hears some sort of gasp of pain.
Confusion, adrenaline and worry for you course through her and she’s immediately on her feet, head spinning as she stands.
You aren’t even sure how it happened. You’ve made this soup dozens of times and cook for Kara the majority of the weekdays, but somehow you miscalculated slightly, causing the knife you were holding to slice a large cut through your non-dominant hand.
You hiss in pain, quickly setting the knife in the cutting board and grabbing a dish towel, holding it to your rapidly bleeding hand. You wince at the sharp sting when the towel touches the cut.
“Y/n.” You look up when you hear Kara gasp your name. Her face is pale, frightened, and she’s leaning heavily on the kitchen island to keep herself upright.
Your heart is racing and your hand shakes with pain as you look at her. “I-I’m okay, Kara. You should be in bed honey.” You keep your words calm, blinking away the tears that are burning in your eyes.
Kara shakes her head, wincing as she does. “Baby, you’re hurt! You’re bleeding.” She comes closer, unsure of what to do exactly but knowing you need her help.
You clench your jaw as a sharp pain echoes from your hand, tear slipping out this time. “It’s just a small cut.” You say but you choke a bit on your words, your voice starting to rumble against your will.
“It doesn’t look that little. Here let me help you.” Kara closes the distance between you and reaches for another towel, the current one already drenched in red.
“No, Kara, you don’t need to…” The pain is becoming unbearable now, making your judgement weird and your words come out surprisingly angry.
Kara’s sick. You may be hurt but you’re fine. Well kind of. But she needs to be resting, not here wobbling on her feet just because you got a little hurt.
Your girlfriend ignores your protests, moving to wrap the towel around the other. More pain shoots through you the second the two towels meet.
“Kara! I said I’m fine!” You stammer through tears. You can’t hold them back anymore.
“B-but..you…” Kara doesn’t even finish her words as an unfamiliar anger swells inside you and before you can stop it you let it out.
“STOP IT, Kara…just go.” You yell, heart immediately sinking when you watch Kara drop her hands away from you, her face falling into an expression you never hoped to see.
She stumbles back a few steps, shocked. The two of you stare at each other for a mere second before she’s gone in the blink of an eye.
“No, wait! Ka…” Your words fade as she disappears from sight. A sob escapes your lips as you sink to your knees, hand throbbing with pain.
You’re not sure how long you’re crying on the floor, the scene of your actions replaying again and again. You can’t stop seeing Kara’s face in your mind. Rao it tears you apart that you caused it.
Sure you and Kara bicker every once in a while, but fights and yelling were rare. In fact you’re not even sure if you’ve ever yelled at her like that. Sure you’ve raised your voice a few times, so had she, but never like that.
You feel sick, looking down at your hand which is now dripping red onto the floor. You swallow hard, feeling lightheaded. You’re not good with large amounts of blood.
Taking a breath, you stand up, leaning the kitchen and heading to the bathroom, which you have go to through the bedroom to get to. You know Kara will be in there. She’s not on the couch and in her current state there’s probably no where else she could be.
Sure enough, when you round the corner you see her lying in bed, her back to you. You know she knows you’re in the room, your heavy breathing definitely gives you away, either that or she uses her superhearing.
You open your mouth, willing yourself to say something, anything, but you can’t even think of where to start, what do say. So you silently turn and walk into the bathroom.
You throw the bloody towels in the trash and run your hand under cold water from the sink. It sting but you need to wash off the dried blood before you can wrap it up. Luckily the bleeding has slowed down now.
You quickly find the first aid kid (stocked abundantly thanks to Alex with all sorts of higher quality things), and sit down on the edge of the bathtub, pulling out a pack of gauze and some sort of stretchy medical tape.
A few minutes later you groan in frustration, a fresh set of tears forming in your eyes. You still haven’t gotten your hand wrapped. It’s a lot harder than you expected and you were never good at medical things. Then throw in your emotional state and the fact that you’re doing this with one hand and this was bound to happen.
You try again, but now you’ve bled all over the bandage tape. You close your eyes, wishing none of this was happening. That you hadn’t gotten cut or hurt the person who you love more than anyone in the world.
Tears silently slide down your cheeks and you open your eyes when you hear soft footsteps. Looking up, you see Kara standing in the doorway, her brows crinkled with sympathy and worry as she looks at you with those ocean eyes. There’s no sense of anger or hurt in her eyes anymore.
You give a silent nod and she comes fully into the bathroom. Without a word, she gets a new cloth and runs it under warm water before kneeling down in front of you and gently taking the upper arm of your hurt hand in her’s.
You watch as she carefully dabs the blood away from you cut with the damp cloth. You wince as it stings but you don’t pull away, letting Kara continue to clean the cut.
She dries it off and unrolls a new piece of medical tape and unwraps a new patch of gauze. She skillfully wraps up your hand, her eyes never straying from it as she works. But when she’s done she presses her lips to your newly bandaged hand with a light before she stands up.
She meets your eyes only briefly before leaving the room without a word. You sit, staring at your hand for a minute before finding and taking some Advil. Then you wash your tearstained face and take a few deep breaths before walking out of the bathroom, expecting to find Kara back in the bedroom but she isn’t there.
You find her in the kitchen, cleaning the blood from the floor from earlier. She also turned the stovetop off. Kara stands when she hears you come into the room.
You offer her some form of a smile, new tears gently sliding down your face. A beat later and you’re being held by her strong arms as she closes the distance and wraps you in a loving hug.
You sob into her shoulder, relieved. You know this is Kara’s way of forgiving you, and you haven’t even said anything yet. She truly is so pure.
She pulls back gently when your sobs finally slow and fade away. You look at her, eyes shining with guilt and tears.
“I-I’m sorry, Kara. I’m so, so sorry.” You choke out. “I didn’t mean to yell at you like that…I should’ve have and I…” You quiet immediately as Kara cups your face gently between her hands.
“Shhh…it’s okay, baby. I know. I know.” Her words are hushed as her thumbs softly wipe the tears from your cheeks.
You look into her eyes and know her words are true. You sigh, getting lost in her, then you place your good hand on her flushed cheek and slowly lean closer.
When she doesn’t pull away, you kiss her deeply, everything melting away as your lips move slowly against her’s. All of the negative emotions that clouded your mind moments earlier drift away and when you finally pull apart, there’s only love radiating from the both of you.
Kara smiles at you, sweet, loving and so Kara before she hums, “you’ve been taking such good care of me baby, been so worried, so present. Let me take care of you now.” She holds your injured hand gently in hers, her thumb brushing against the bandage.
You offer her a sweet smile. “How about I order some soup from Noonan’s and we have a movie marathon on the couch?” You suggest and she nods with another smile.
“I’d love that baby.” She hums and you nod too, placing a chaste kiss to her still-warm forehead.
After helping her finish cleaning the kitchen, you order the soup and then the both of you settle on the couch once again. This time though, you’re being held in Kara’s arms, resting your back against her chest she holds you close and puts on How To Train Your Dragon.
Kara kisses the top of your head then giggles as you tilt your head up to kiss the bottom of her chin, ducking her head at the last second so her lips meet yours instead. You laugh into her mouth, pulling away and sneaking a quick kiss to her chin before settling more into her warm arms.
“How are you feeing baby?” You ask and Kara just shrugs. “Pretty much the same, still pretty bad.” She answers and you find her hand, giving it a squeeze with your non-injured one.
“How’s your hand? It looked like a pretty deep cut.” She comments quietly. You look up at her, worry shines in her eyes and her expression.
“Yeah, I think it went kinda deep. Stings like hell, but I’m okay now. Thanks to you.” You give her the truth and she smiles gratefully. She pulls you closer, kissing your hair.
“I’m glad you’re okay, baby.” She murmurs into your soft hair and you hum in response as the two of you fall into a comfortable silence, focused on the movie until she speaks again.
“Will you let Alex check it out next time she comes?” She asks softly, wanting her sister who has an actual medical degree to check on it.
“Of course, Kara. Good idea.” You agree and she smiles.
“And will you let me change the bandage however many times she says to?”
You smirk. “I will if you promise to focus on getting better and resting.” You bargain and she chuckles.
“Fine baby. For you, yes. I promise.” she kisses your hair again and the two of you turn your attention back to the movie until there’s a knock at the door.
You move to get up but Kara stops you. “I got it babe.” She offers but you shoot her a look. “Baby you promised to rest.” You remind gently and she nods with a playful eye roll.
You get up to meet the delivery man and smile upon opening it, a familiar face standing in the doorway, holding takeout bags from Noonan’s.
“Hey Henry!” You greet the young man who nine out of ten times is the one who delivers your food and you and Kara order a lot of food. So much so you’re on a first name basis.
He also usually sneaks a couple of sticky buns in the order, knowing you and especially Kara are very fond of them.
“Hi y/n! Unusual order today—I’ve got three orders of soup…and a few sticky buns.” He adds with a wink. You take the bags, smiling gratefully.
“Ugh you’re the best, Henry. Thanks! Kara’s sick and as you can see, it’s been an interesting day.” You hold up your bandaged hand for him to see then pay him and add a generous tip.
“Oh damn, well I hope you both feel better and say hi to Kara for me!” He gives you a warm smile. “And let me know if you guys need anything else, I can run out and grab anything you need.” Henry offers sweetly and your smile widens.
“You really are the best. Thank you!”
He gives you and nod. “See ya soon!” He bids farewell and you close the door, moving to put the bags on the kitchen island.
You stash the sticky buns in the fridge and get two bowls of soup ready, carrying Kara’s over to her first then running back to grab your’s before finally joining her on the couch again.
Kara eats more than last time, but still not a lot so you also give her another one of the metabolism stabilizing gummies.
After eating, the two of you curl back up together on the couch after a brief lighthearted disagreement on who would be the big spoon and you both finally agreed that Kara would lay in your lap this time.
Now her back rests against your chest and you run your hands through her hair once more with your good hand, while Kara trails mindless shape along the upper arm of your hurt one.
It’s peaceful and quiet, save for the regular soft sniffles and occasional cough or sneeze from your sick girlfriend. You’re halfway through the second movie when you notice Kara steadily growing warmer and warming, her fever returning with full force.
You pause your hand which is still gently sifting through her hair so you can press a palm to her forehead. Sure enough it’s almost scaling to the touch. If she wasn’t Kryptonian you would have been extremely worried. Well, you’re still worried, but this was a normal fevered temperature for her.
With your hand still on her forehead, you let your thumb lightly graze over her hot skin in soft circles. She’s still awake, you can tell. The two of you have cuddled so much in your relationship and especially in the past few days that you can instantly tell whether she’s awake or not and vice versa.
You plan to wait a bit to see if her fever keeps rising before doing something, but Kara speaks just a few minutes later. Shifting in your arms, a few feverish chills sending shivers through her.
She lets out a soft whine and presses her face further into you. “ ‘m too cold.” She mumbles even though she’s practically sweating. You hold her tighter, placing a kiss to her hot forehead.
“Your fever’s bad.” You hum and she closes her eyes with a sigh. You frown, hating to see your normally energetic girlfriend so defeated.
“Good news is that the chills might mean your fever breaks soon, which is one step closer to getting better.” You let your voice sound gently and hopeful.
Kara looks up at you, “really?” You can see a hopeful twinkle in her eyes too. You nod with a smile. “It’ll be pretty uncomfortable, but you’ll get through it baby. Things have to get worse before they get better, and I’ll be here every step of the way.” You remind her gently.
Kara huffs into your shirt with a cute pout. “I don’t think anything could be worse than this…it-it’s even worse than Kryptonite!” Her admitting makes you hold her even tighter. That’s saying something.
You take one hand away from her and offer some som water, wanting to keep her form being dehydrated. She thanks you by kissing a freckle on your neck before settling her face there.
She settles down for a few minutes but soon her fever really starts affecting her, her soft skin growing hotter and she starts sweating more.
You don’t mind, but you know she feels terrible so you wrack your brain for something you can do to help.
“Hey, Kara? How about we take a cool shower. Might help you feel better and should bring your temp down a bit.” You suggest and she immediately agrees, willing to try anything to help her feel even the tiniest bit better.
To be continued…

Part 4 loves!!
Mysterious Kryptonian Flu Pt.4
You’re awoken sometime in the middle of the night by a loud gasp coming from Kara’s side of the bed.
She’s hyperventilating slightly and the blankets have been kicked off you both in her panic.
Your arms instinctively wrap around her trembling form, and she holds you tight, crying into your shoulder.
You hold her head gently to your chest while the other rubs her back. “Shhh, you’re safe baby. It’s alright now, it was just a dream. You’re okay Kara.” You soothe as she hiccups against you.
“Just a dream.” She mutters into you. “Just a dream.” You repeat softly for good measure as her crying starts to calm down and her breathing becomes steadier.
You hold her silently for a few more minutes before she pulls away and looks at you with a tearstained face.
“Hey, I’m here.” You hum softly as you wipe away a few tears from her cheeks with your thumbs.
“I know.” Kara gives you a wobbly smile, her heart still racing from her panic. “Thank you.” She murmurs and you can see her blush even in the dark.
You hum gently in response and hold her closer. The alien lets out a deep sigh against your neck, her warm breath tickling your skin. You smile as you rub her back soothingly until you feel her body stiffen suddenly.
Kara pulls away from you, her face pale with panic. “Oh Rao.” She groans s you reach down and grab the bucket on the floor, immediately placing it in her lap.
She clutches her arms around her stomach and the two of you fall into the all too familiar routine until she’s done, the bucket is cleaned and she’s curled up in a tight ball on the bed.
“Hey.” You whisper softly as you curl up next to her. “You ready to go back to bed?” You ask and Kara nods but you still notice a small spark of fear in her eyes at the mention of sleep.
She’s absolutely drained but terrified of having yet another nightmare. You lean closer and place a soft kiss to her forehead.
“I’ll be right here Kara. It will be alright.” You soothe, lightly trailing a finger over the small crease of worry etched into her brows.
Kara’s expression relaxes at your touch. She loves how you always make her worries fade just by being there with her. A small smile forms on her lips.
“Rao do I love you.” She murmurs, closing her eyes.
“Love you too, Danvers.” You pull her closer so she’s right up against you, head resting on your chest so she can listen to the calming sound of your heartbeat.
You wrap an arm protectively around her, gently running your hand along her back. She tucks her arms around you (not too tightly) as she relaxes even more and lets out a small sigh.
You kiss the top of her head before leaning your cheek against her soft hair. She listens to the sound of your heart as you feel the warmth of her soft rhythmic breath on your neck, and within minutes you’re both fast asleep again.
You sleep until around nine in the morning, happy that you both slept through the rest of the night peacefully. She’s still asleep so you carefully slip from her hold and tuck the blankets further around her.
It’s Monday so even though it’s probably evident both of you wont be showing up for work by now, you still call into your own workplace, and CatCo for Kara.
Then you take a quick shower, eat breakfast then were able to get a little work done on your computer.
You check in on Kara a lot, but when she’s still asleep by eleven, you figure you should wake her up for at least some more medicine, then she can go back to sleep if she needs to.
So you gently wake her by kissing her cheek and running your hand along her arm a few times. She lets out a sleepy groan and you smile, placing another kiss to her cheek, then her forehead, then her lips.
You smile into her soft lips when she kisses you back ever so slightly and you pull away as she opens her ocean eyes.
“Morning, love.” You greet softly, your fingers still grazing her cheek lightly. Kara gives you a small smile at the sight of you but it quickly falls into a frown as she closes her eyes again.
“Rao I feel awful.” She murmurs, taking a few deep slow breaths before opening her eyes again.
“Aww baby I’m sorry. I know it sucks being sick.” You hum and her face twists in mild confusion.
“I’m sick?” She rasps and you nod, trying not to smile at her adorable confused expression.
“You fought an alien who gave you some sort of alien flu. You still have your powers.” You recap gently and Kara nods along like she’s remembering more the more you remind her.
“Gosh I was so out of it yesterday. I barely remember it, it felt like a dream.” She nearly whines.
“Yeah, that’s what a fever’s do.”
“But I remember you being here with me.” Kara breathes, a small grateful smile on her face as she gazes at you.
“There’s no place I’d rather be, love.” You put a gentle hand to her forehead. “You’re still pretty warm.” You murmur. ‘Wait here baby, I’ll be right back.” You lean in to kiss her lips but she leans back.
“Nooope, babe I’m sick. Trust me you don’t want this flu.” She pouts but you just smirk at her.
“I can’t catch it Kara. Your flu isn’t susceptible to humans.” You inform gently and her expression relaxes.
“Oh.” Was all she says before you press your lips to hers in a warm kiss to emphasize your point.
You pull away a few moments later, “oh is right. Now hold on a sec.” You hum, standing and leaving the room, leaving Kara lying in bed, speechless.
You return a few moments later, two pills in one hand and a cool damp compress in the other. “These will help will general pain, fever and nausea.”
Kara gulps down the medicine with a couple bit sips of water before downing the whole rest of the cool liquid.
You smile, staying hydrated is good. Getting back in bed, she immediately moves to your lap, placing her head in your lap as you pull the blankets back over her slightly shivering form.
“So this is what a fever feels like?” She murmurs as you place the cool compress on her forehead. You nod with a hum.
“Sucks.” She looks up, her heart warming as she meets your soft eyes. You’re looking at her with so much loving concern that she momentarily forgets how bad she feels.
A small smile forms on her lips. “You know what would make me feel better?” She reaches up and taps your lips with her finger. Your heart flips.
“Well, I mean…if it’ll help then…” You muse, leaning down and letting her soft pink lips meet yours in a loving kiss.
You indulge the blonde for a few long seconds before pulling away to meet her adorable pout. You chuckle and give her lips one more peck.
“You need rest baby.” You hum and as if on cue, her cute pout is replaced with a yawn.
“Yeah. Ughhh I’m so tired.” She complains.
“I know baby. Just close your eyes. You’ll feel better.” You adjust the compress on her forehead then move your free hand to trail gentle shapes along her arm.
She sighs into your touch. “By the way this cool thingy is really helping.” She murmurs.
“I’m glad, Kara.” Your words are hushed and soft.
She listens to your heartbeat again for a while before she realizes how much energy the small use of her powers is actually taking up. So she switches to focusing on her normal senses, feeling your chest rise and fall beneath her head and the soothing feeling of your fingers on her arm.
It’s quiet for a while, give or take a few sniffles from the blonde in your lap. You can tell she isn’t quite asleep, but you’re glad she’s resting.
You look down at her when you hear a few more soft sniffles followed by the smallest groan. “You alright down there?” You muse gently and she nods, looking up at you, her chest rising unevenly a few times.
You see the sides of her red nose flare out before she quickly turns away from you. “Hnhh’sShhoo! Hh’KshHuhh! ‘TcshHuhh!” She sneezes into the blankets and then groans and sniffs feverishly.
“Bless you my love.” You hum, kissing the top of her head then reaching over grab a few tissues from the box on her nightstand.
She takes them from you with a tired sniff before her whole body tenses up again and she lets out a small whimper. Her nose seems to hate her today, the burning tingle returning will full force.
She rubs her nose hard with the tissues, but it only makes nose burn even more. She shivers, ducking her face back into the blankets.
You let out a soft hum, holding her tighter, feeling her chest rise unevenly once more. “K’ssShhiuu! Huh’sHHshoo!! “KkSsshh’shHieww!”
You rub her back gently as she sneezes agin, this time the force making her cough lightly into the blankets. You can tell it causes a lot of pain, the cough rattling through her chest, quickly turning into a full on fit and she sits up, coughing harshly into her elbow.
“You’re okay Kara. Just breathe, breathe for me baby.” You pat her back gently, taking her free hand and letting her squeeze it hard as she tries to catch her breath between painful hacks.
She’s finally able to calm down, following your breathing as you help her take deep breaths. Kara’s eyes are watery when she looks at you after leaning into your arms.
You kiss her forehead, gently using a hand to hold her head to your chest. She leans as much into your touch as she can, burying her face into your shirt.
You rub her back for so long she almost falls back asleep. “Can I get you some water, maybe some tea too?” You whisper as to not startle her.
She lets out a small whine but nods against you and you hug her tighter, kissing her hair before letting her go. Kara hugs a pillow tight. It would have to make do until you’re back.
“I’ll just be a minute baby.” You kiss her cheek before leaving and returning moments later with fresh water.
Kara drinks while you go back to the kitchen to start her favorite tea. When it’s done you load it with honey and lemon, stirring it gently as you carry the warm mug into the bedroom.
You hand her the tea and grab your laptop. The second you sit down she’s wrapping an arm tightly around your waist.
You chuckle softly. “I was only gone a couple minutes.” You tease gently as you pull up Netflix on your computer.
“Felt like forever.” Kara grumbles into your side with a yawn. “Please don’ ever leave me again.” She sniffles dramatically.
“Don’t worry Kar. I’m here. Now what do you wanna watch?” You ask softly and she picks a movie before starting to slowly sip on her hot tea. It feels so nice on her aching throat.
You wrap one arm around her shoulder and kiss her head as you press play on the movie.
The two of you watch, Kara drinking her tea and you lightly grazing your finger along her arm again. She quickly grows tired again and you notice just in time to take the mug from her hands before she nods off.
Setting it on the nightstand, you turn back to Kara, feeling her head drop gently to your shoulder and you smile, kissing her hair.
It’s not long before she wakes up, immediately getting caught in another coughing fit. You pat her back until she’s done.
“Here, Kar.” You hand her her water again and she grateful sips it before repositioning herself to lay down more.
She lets out a small whimper, burying her face into your side as she wraps her arms firmly around your waist and mumbles something completely unintelligible.
“What was that honey?” You hum and she pulls back a bit.
“This is worse than Argo Fever.” She repeats as you place a gentle hand to her head and start running your fingers through her hair again.
You let out a small sigh at her words, your heart breaking a little for her. A long moment passes before, “hey Kara?”
She hums in response, keeping her eyes closed while you continue massage her head. “I’m sorry I can’t do more to help you.” You admit finally. You wish with every part of you that you could take away Kara’s pain, to wrap her in a hug and have it all fade away.
But you can’t and it kills you to see her in so much discomfort.
You feel her shift as she turns to look at you. “You’re here. That’s all I need.” Her soft words make you love her even more and you intertwine your hand with hers, squeezing it gently.
A few minutes pass peacefully before Kara starts to shiver against you. She holds you tighter as a fresh wave of fever chills start washing through her.
“This again?” She groans into your side and you hold her tighter as she curls up into a ball next to you. You simply run your fingers through her hair and murmur soft nothings.
Still shaking, Kara looks up at you. “Can you do that cloth thing again?” She asks pitifully.
You hum. “Of course babygirl. I’ll have to get up though.” You remind her gently and she whines but lets you go.
You return a moment later and she wastes no time settling back into your arms as you rest the cool damp cloth to her forehead. Her eyes slip closed as you both just enjoy the closeness between you.
“Hey Kara?” You whisper when the cloth looses its cool sensation and your hands have started running through her hair instinctively.
She opens her eyes. “It’s getting kinda late and you haven’t eaten anything. Can I get you something baby?” You remind her softly.
She groans, leaning more into you. “I know baby. But you really need to eat. How about I make some homemade soup?” You suggest, knowing Kara loves your cooking.
“But I jus’ want to be with you.” Her voice comes small and tired. You think for a second.
“How about I stay with you until you fall asleep, you sound exhausted love. Then I can make the soup while you sleep and we can cuddle all you want again when you wake up?” You pitch your idea and smile when she nods.
“Okay.” She agrees. “Okay.” You mirror, kissing her forehead as she closes her eyes again and snuggles deeper into your arms.
“Sleep, love.” You hum and she lets out a soft sigh as you run your fingers through her hair, knowing it will help her fall asleep faster.
You stay like this for a bit, but not longer after your deal, she falls asleep. You stay a while longer though, making sure she’s completely asleep so you don’t wake her when you move.
It’s quite a peaceful, just you and Kara. Looking down at her, a big smile dawns on your face. She’s breathtakingly beautiful, inside and out, and even sick. You marvel at how she’s actually your’s and how you’re her’s. You feel so lucky to be loved by her.
Finally, carefully, you slip away from her hold, tuck the blankets tighter around her and make your way to the kitchen.

Supergirl/Kara Danvers x Reader
Mysterious Kryptonian Flu Pt.3
When Kara wakes, she’s more than happy to see Alex, but still wants to be with you and she stays snuggled up to you the whole time Alex and Maggie are there.
She doesn’t want dinner but the rest of you eat and a while later they get ready to leave.
“Feel better, kid. And remember I’m only a phone call away if you guys need me.” She kisses Kara’s cheek before wrapping an arm around her girlfriend’s waist and the two of them leave you and Kara alone.
You gently trail your fingers along your girlfriend’s stomach and the two of you fall into a comfortable silence. Eventually you speak.
“Kara, babe, are you awake?” You hum and she replies with a small “yeah”, looking up at you with her stunning blue eyes.
“I know you still don’t feel well but you should try and eat a little something, maybe some more soup?” You suggest as gently as you can.
Maybe a human could get by with not eating much while sick but even though she feels bad, her alien metabolism still requires her to eat much more than a human.
A small crinkle forms between Kara’s brows as she thinks. “Okay. But no more soup?” She asks, worried about what happened last time.
“Alright sweetheart, anything you want.” You hug her closer and kiss the top of her head before moving to get up. You don’t though because she makes a small noise of protest.
“Can we jus’ stay like this a little longer?” She pleas, giving you an irresistible pout.
“Mhm. A few more minutes.” You agree and Kara snuggles deeper into your arms. You hug her closer and lightly rub her back until she loosens her hold on you a few minutes later, like promised.
You slip out from under her and help her lean against the back of the couch. “Be right back baby.” You promise, making your way to the kitchen.
When you arrive you find a small plastic bag and a note on the counter from Alex.
These should help keep her metabolism stable while being easy on her stomach. They’re also filled with concentrated Vitamin D and made specifically for her. One every 12 hours.
The note reads and you look into the bag to see a few small orange gummies. You smile, so grateful Alex was able to create something like this. This is literally exactly what Kara needs.
You take one gummy out and set it on a plate before making the rest of her food.
A couple of minutes later you arrive back in the living room. Kara eats some more crackers like earlier along with half a piece of toast with peanut putter on it, and the gummy. She also drinks a fair amount of water.
“Come here babygirl.” You hum when you come back to the couch after putting the plate away when she was done. Kara immediately snuggles back up to you and you put on her favorite movie again.
After a while you check the time then look down at her. Your hand makes its way to softly touch her cheek.
“Hey.” You whisper and she looks up at you.
“Hi.” Kara croaks with a pained smile.
“How’re feeling love?” You ask and she sighs.
“A bit better.”
“Do you wanna take a bath?” You ask with a gentle smile. “Then we can cuddle up in bed and go to sleep?”
Kara gives you a smile in return. “Yeah. Sounds nice.” She says through a slight cough.
You kiss her head and get up so you can draw the bath then you return to her. “Want me to carry you baby?” You ask and she nods, her eyelids already fighting to stay open and she hasn’t even moved yet.
You brush your lips quickly against her’s and put her up and you chuckle slightly when she holds onto you like a koala. Her head rests on your shoulder as she wraps her arms around your neck, her legs wrapped around your waist.
You wrap your arms around her and she leans into you. You smile at her adorableness as you make the quick trip to the bathroom as she clings to you.
You set her down on the edge of the tub before slowly helping her undress and getting her settled in the warm water.
You turn to leave but she grabs your hand gently before you can walk away. “Wait…stay?” She looks up at you with something akin to puppy dog eyes and you smile.
“Of course baby.” You sit down on the bathroom floor and hold her hand as she bathes, trailing mindlessly shapes on her soft skin as she closes her eyes and lets the warmth of the bath water help her feel a little better.
A small sigh comes from her and you smile softly at her. “Does it feel alright?” You ask and she nods immediately, her eyes still closed.
“Feels ‘mazing.” She murmurs with a yawn. “Thank you.”
You kiss her hand. “Anytime love.” You hum.
When she’s done you leave her to get ready for bed in the bathroom while you get ready for the night too, making sure there’s fresh water, tissues and a bucket by the bed for her. Then you straighten up the apartment a bit before sitting in bed and waiting for her.
When you left her in the bathroom, she slowly put on the pajamas you had gotten her and then stood in front of the mirror. Her body shakes as she leans against the sink for support. She cringes when she sees herself. Her hairs messy, face flushed and she looks pretty much as bad as she feels—in her opinion. To you she always looks perfect.
Kara brushes her hair and makes her way through her nightly routine, slightly agitated at how much energy the simple tasks seem to take up.
You look up when you hear soft footsteps coming into the room. “Hey, Kara.” You hum, holding your hand out for her.
She takes your hand with a small hey back as she climbs into bed with you. You can immediately tell how tired she is. It’s definitely time for bed.
“Aw c’mere babygirl.” You pull her into a gentle hug as she lays her head on your shoulder. Kara lets out a small sigh, leaning more into you and immediately closing her eyes.
You both slide down in bed to lay down and you pull the blankets up over the both of you, kissing her shoulder as you press your chest against her back and wrap your arms around her.
“Try and get some sleep, Kar. I’ll be right here, okay?” You speak softly in her ear and she nods, nestling more into the bed and your touch.
She trusts you completely and knows that you will be there, the whole night, like always and like you said. She finds comfort in the fact that you’re there for her even when she feels so bad. You being there with her helps her more than you’ll ever know.
“Goodnight babygirl. I love you.” You whisper as you close your eyes too. You smile to yourself when you hear Kara’s voice, barely above a whisper, telling you she loves you too.
Kara’s still awake when you fall asleep. She smiles softly as she uses her powers to listen to the comforting sound of your heartbeat, She’s so tired but also doesn’t really want to fall asleep knowing another nightmare could be waiting for her. She isn’t sure if she can take another one right now, but then she focuses back on you.
You’ll be there for her if she has another one. She knows you will. Even when she isn’t sick, she sometimes has bad dreams about Krypton or loved ones dying. But you’re always there fore her.
She knows you’ll hold her tight, soothe her and maybe rub her back your run your hands through her hair. The effect you have on her since day one is incredible. You always know just what to say and do, so with that thought, she finally lets herself drift off to sleep once more.

Here’s part two!
Supergirl/Kara Danvers x Reader
Mysterious Kryptonian Flu Pt.2
Not twenty minutes after Kara falls asleep, your phone lights up with a text from Alex. She’s already in the kitchen.
You had texted her right when Kara had fallen sleep so she’d know to be quiet when she came in and you’re glad Kara’s a heavy sleeper as you very carefully slip out from under her and pull the blankets back up around her.
You walk into the other room to meet Alex. “How is she?” She immediately asks worriedly.
You offer a somber smile. “Not good. She’s definitely sick but I don’t know how that’s possible, she still has her powers.” You explain, finally able to properly express hour full concerns.
You had kept calm earlier so your sick girlfriend would too but you were silently freaking out the whole time, completely at a loss of what to do and how to navigate the situation.
Alex gives you a soft smile. “She was in a fight with a rouge alien the other night. He did something to her, exposed her to some sort of alien virus that Kryptonian’s must be susceptible to.” Alex started and you nod along with her.
“We took some initial tests after the fight since it seemed to have drained her energy quite a bit. The results just came back. She has some sort of alien version of the flu, but other than feeling terrible for the next few days to a week, she should be fine once it passes.” She finished and you let out a breath of relief, feeling calmer now that you know Kara will be okay.
You steady yourself against the fridge, leaning back and steadying your heartbeat. “Wow, okay. Anything else I should know? How can I help her?” You ask already ready to be back in caretaker mode.
“Yes, the virus doesn’t seem to be susceptible to humans so luckily you should be able to take care of her without worrying about getting sick. Thank Rao too because I don’t know what we’d do if it could or even how it would affect us.”
You nod with another relieved breath. You would have taken care of Kara no matter what, but it’s good to know that you can’t get sick and can just focus on taking care of her.
“I also whipped up some Kryptonian grade medicine that should be strong enough to help ease her symptoms. Red pills for nausea and blue for fever and headaches.” Alex explains, leaving the bottles on the counter with a note of how often she should take them.
She also reveals a bag of stuff she bought; soup, cough drops, tissues, and a few bottles of Kara’s favorite drinks. She then peaks her head into the bedroom to look at Kara for a moment before telling you she has to get back to the DEO.
“Call me if you need anything at all.” She makes you promise and says she’ll be back after work to check in on her sister.
You thank her for everything and go right back to Kara as soon as she leaves.
Kara wakes up again later, seeming to feel a little better for now. You end up carrying her to the couch because she’s bored of being in bed and so that the two of you can just cuddle up and watch her favorite movies.
Halfway through the first movie, The Wizard of Oz of course, you look at the time and frown. It’s mid-afternoon and even though she’s sick, Kara hasn’t eaten anything today besides a few crackers. And with her alien metabolism, if she doesn’t eat actual food soon, she’ll probably feel even worse, if that’s even possible.
You look down at her as she rests in your arms. Her baby blue eyes are struggling to stay open as she tries to focus on the movie.
“Hey.” You murmur gently, lightly scratching the top of her head in a soothing way. Kara glances up at you, blinking sleepily a few times.
“You haven’t eaten all day, love. Do you want to try some of the soup Alex brought by earlier?” You suggest even though it looks like she isn’t entirely focused on what you’re saying.
A couple of beats go by before your observation is proved wrong. “I’ll try.” She rasps softly. “For you.” Kara adds, her impossibly blue eyes looking into yours with such trust and adoration.
Your heart skips a beat as you’re momentarily taken aback by her ability to disarm you even when she’s not 100%.
“Still a charmer when you’re sick, huh Danvers?” You joke lightly.
“I aim to please.” She answers with a small smile which comes out more of a grimace but you love it nonetheless and you can’t help but smile back.
Then, unable to resist, you lean down and graze your lips against hers in a light kiss, heart soaring when she gently kisses you back.
When you both pull away, your smiles are even bigger.
“How about I get you that soup now?” You ask and she nods slightly. You kiss the top of her blonde head before carefully repositioning her out of your lap so you can stand.
Kara stays laying down, stretched out over the couch and you pull another blanket over her and kiss her warm forehead before heading to the kitchen.
A couple minutes later you come back and smile softly when you find her with her eyes closed, breathing steadily.
You set the bowl down on the coffee table and crouch down in front of your girlfriend.
“Wake up love, soups’ ready.” You whisper, placing a quick, gentle kiss to her soft lips. She slowly opens her eyes with a dazed smile
You help her sit up and kiss her temple as you hand her the soup. She eats about half of it before she just starts playing with it and of course you notice.
“All done?” You ask and she nods. “Yeah, thank you.” She murmurs shyly as you take the bowl away from her shaking hands.
Her cheeks are flushed slightly in embarrassment, not used to being taken care of in this way.
“Hey.” You hum, waiting for her to look at you before continuing. “Even Supergirl can take sick days. It’s okay.” You remind gently before taking the bowl of half eaten soup to the fridge for later.
You come back and she snuggles up to you as you sit back down, laying her head in your lap. You wrap one arm around her, your hand moving under her shirt to gently trail soothing fingers along her stomach.
Your other hand makes its way to her hair and you start gently massaging her head. Kara lets out a small sigh, leaning more into your touch.
“I love you.” She murmurs sleepily. You bend down slightly to kiss her flushed cheek. “I love you too baby, so, so much.” You whisper in her ear.
Kara closes her eyes and lets the soothing feelings of your gentle ministrations lull her into a light sleep. You smile when her breathing evens out and she relaxes further in your hold.
You stay like this until a few hours later your phone lights up with another text from Alex.
Alex: Out of work. Okay if Maggie and I drop by for a bit?”
You: Of course! Kara crashed hours ago so I’m sure she’ll wake up soon.
You text back with a picture of an adorable sleeping Kara all curled up in the blankets, her hair splayed everywhere.
Alex: Great. Be there in a bit with dinner.
Alex: Btw Maggie loves the pic ❤️
You set your phone down and go back to massaging Kara gently as she continues to sleep peacefully.
It isn’t until you wake up that you notice you’d fallen asleep along with Kara. But now her blonde head and familiar weight isn’t in your lap anymore. Your heart sinks when you hear the sound of retching from the bathroom.
“Oh honey.” You rush in, heart clenching when you see her leaning over the toilet once more, throwing up the soup from earlier. In seconds you’re on the floor with her, rubbing her back and holding up her hair.
“You’re okay baby. Just get it all out.” You murmur as you continue to try and comfort your trembling girlfriend.
When she’s done she practically collapses back into your arms, shaking as she sniffles against your neck.
“Shhh. I’ve got you Kara.” You cradle her to your chest, holding her tight.
“It-it hurts so bad.” She rasps, tears running down onto your neck.
“I know baby. I’m so sorry. I promise you’ll be okay soon.” You hum, rubbing her shirt along her back which is slightly damp from sweat but you don’t care, you just hold her tighter until she relaxes into your hold.
“How about we get you changed into some fresh pajamas, hmm? Then you can have some medicine and we can so sleep on the couch again?” You offer gently and she nods against you, sniffling a few times as she takes a shaky deep breath.
You pick her up and kiss her warm sticky forehead then carry her to the bedroom and help her change and take the medicine Alex brought.
Finally, the two of you are back on the couch and Kara’s basically sprawled across your lap and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
You pull a blanket over your sick alien girlfriend and wrap your arms around her, also wrapping your legs around her waist and turn the movie back on for background noise.
You kiss her head. “Try and rest some more babygirl.” You whisper softly. Kara hums in response and within seconds she’s asleep again in your arms.
You’re rubbing her back and lightly scratching her head when you hear the apartment door open quietly. Turning your head, you see Alex and Maggie sneaking in ever so quietly as to not disturb your girlfriend who is still asleep in your arms.
The two deposit their coats and set a brown paper takeout bag on the counter before they tiptoe over to the couch.
“How is she?” Alex asks, crouching down to be closer to Kara’s level. She gently reaches out a finger and runs it along her sister’s flushed face.
“Pretty bad. She had some soup but threw it up a bit ago. I think it took a lot out of her. I have her some medicine and I think it kinda knocked her out too.” You whisper back and the brunette nods her understanding, hating to see her sister so miserable.
Maggie left for a moment but is back now with a thermometer which she places lightly to Kara’s forehead. When it beeps she pulls it back and shows Alex.
“103.6” She murmurs. “At least it’s gone down a little.” Alex smiles a little. You nod and then gesture for them to sit down, there’s still a movie on afterall.
The couple sits down on the chair adjacent the couch and you all watch the movie, pretending to pay attention as if your gazes don’t go back to Kara every thirty seconds.
A while later, a small groan comes from your girlfriend and all heads immediately turn to her, waiting for her blue eyes to open. But they stay closed, her eyebrows knitting together and her face scrunching up.
Her breathing becomes stuttered as more small groans and whimpers come from her. You immediately recognize it. She’s in the beginning of a nightmare—and a bad one by the looks of it.
Alex starts to move so she can help her sister but Maggie puts a hand on her arm, stopping her. “What?” She whispers then follows Maggie’s gaze to where you two are still cuddled up.
Alex leans back in her chair, feeling her chest warm with love. You’ve pulled Kara closer into your as you tuck your head down besides hers.
“Shhh…you’re okay babygirl. I’ve got you. You’re, I’m safe. I’m here. It’s alright.” You whisper softly in her ear, one hand gently stroking her cheek as the other runs through her hair, gently scratching her head.
A few long seconds later and she’s fully relaxed back into your arms and you continue comforting her until you’re sure she’s fallen back into a peaceful sleep, her nightmare gone.
“That’s it baby.” You whisper one more time as she lets out a deep sleepy sigh and presses herself subconsciously even closer to you. You lean your head to her soft hair and give her a fingering kiss.
“Wow.” Alex breathes softly and you look up, forgetting they were there for a moment. “You know, she really loves you.” She adds and you smile down at Kara.
“I know. She never lets me forget it. I just hope she knows how much I love her too.” You don’t take your eyes off of the beautiful, sick girl in your arms.
“From what I saw, she does.” Alex replies but you look up at her puzzled so she continues with a smile. “Before she found you, I was the only one who could calm her down from a nightmare and that was usually after she woke up a mess of tears and sobs but you…you managed to calm her down without her even stirring. She really loves you.” Alex explains and your heart just about melts completely.
“Oh.” You whisper, gaze shifting back to Kara as you lean your face back into her soft golden hair.
“I love you too Kara. So, so much.” You whisper, kissing her once more. She may be absolutely miserable, but maybe everything will be okay after all. You’ve got each other, and that’s what matters.

Hello sunshine!! I have a request from the prompts if you feel so inclined:
Caitvi (sick vi) — “you know I don’t get sick” and “can we cuddle?”
Please and thank u :)
Tumblr media
Ugh such a great prompt pairing! Sorry it took so long to get written, I hope you enjoy!!
Stubbornly Adorable
It was obvious that Vi was sick.
Caitlyn knew pretty much the second she’d woken in the early hours of the morning to her girlfriend stifling a pair of wet harsh sneezes into her pillow, but the Piltovan knew better than to point out the obvious.
Vi hated being sick, and she hated admitting even more, so Caitlyn had simply rested her hand on Vi’s tattoo back (which seemed much warmer than her usual sleepy heat) and murmured a soft “bless you darling” before pulling Vi closer to her chest and letting the both of them drift back into a light doze until it was time for them to start their day.
The day passed by lazily. Caitlyn spent most of her day at her home desk, catching up long overdue paperwork while trying too hard not to worry too much about Vi who floated in and out of the room all day, doing a most terrible job of trying to hide her growing cold.
Each time she sniffled softly into her sleeve, or stifled a harsh fit of itchy sneezes into her fist, or disguised a cough by clearing her throat while reading a book, Caitlyn had to practically glue herself to her chair to keep from marching across the room and forcing Vi back to bed for some clearly needed rest.
At one point, sometime in the early afternoon, Caitlyn glanced over as Vi wandered into the room after a workout, clearly struggling to get control of her red runny nose. The pink-haired girl was still in her sweatpants and workout tank, a damp towel wrapped around the back of her neck as she sniffled wetly while leaning against one of the plush green armchairs that sat by the fireplace.
“Huh’huhh…HHh’tssCHHuhhh! Hheh…huhhh-hEHHh’TCHhhuh!!…ugh, shit.”
Caitlyn watched as Vi hadn’t even seemed to notice her as her breath hitched and she snapped forward into a hastily covered double followed by a sudden harsher “hH’TSShHHuhh!!”
Caitlyn’s heart tugged gently at how exhausted Vi sounded. “Bless you, love.” She hummed from her desk, Vi’s head shooting up in surprise like she’d forgotten Cait was there.
“Snrff…thandks.” Vi just shrugged as she made her way over to her girlfriend, wiping her nose on her towel as she did. As she came closer Caitlyn could see the thick sheen of sweat glistening around her temples, certainly too much to be just from her workout. She frowned slightly but relaxed when Vi came up behind her, wrapping her strong sweaty arms around her shoulders.
“ughh, Violet you’re all sweaty!” She pretended to be grossed out but there was a growing smile on her face that broke free when Vi kissed her hair with an equally amused, “ahh but you love me anyways.”
Vi then rested her chin on Cait’s shoulder and glanced at the large pile of papers on the desk with a sniffle that sounded much too congested. “How’s the fight of the never ending pile of evil paper vs workaholic perfectionist girlfriend going?” She mused and Caitlyn let out a huff that might have been a laugh.
“As expected. Extremely mind-numbing and mildly torturous.” She replied with a sigh, then added, “I’m winning though.”
Vi placed a soft kiss to her shoulder. “Attagirl.” Her tone proud even as she cleared her throat and backed away with a slight cough.
Caitlyn sighed softly before turning in her chair to glance back at her girlfriend. She hesitated only momentarily. “—Vi….are you feeling alright today?” She took a chance, knowing the Zaunite would be too stubborn to admit she isn’t feeling well, but wanting nothing more than to wrap her up in her fluffiest duvet and kiss her fevered face until she let herself be taken care of.
Vi immediately straightened with a sniff. “Of course, Cait. Must..uh just be allergies or somethin’.” She tried but Caitlyn narrowed her gaze. “Violet it’s the middle of winter.” She countered.
Vi rolled her eyes defensively. “You know I don’t get sick. Perks of growing up in the Lanes—strong immune system.” She attempted a charming smile but it turned out more of a pained grimace.
“I’m fine, love…just don’t worry ‘bout me okay?”
Caitlyn just sighed again and nodded as Vi made her way to the doorway.
“Vi?” She called before she could leave and Vi turned back, leaning against the doorframe.
“Yeah, Cait?” She hummed, softening when she saw the caring, worried expression on her girlfriend’s face. Maybe she had been a little too harsh.
“Just…you know you can tell me anything, right?” The dark haired girl almost whispered. Vi offered a real, grateful smile.
“I know, Cait.” She murmured softly before turning and leaving, probably to go take a shower, leaving Caitlyn to finish up her work.
With a final sigh Caitlyn decided she’d let Vi come to her when she was ready. She’d expressed her concern and now all she had to do was wait. She’d knew it wouldn’t be long before her girlfriend gave in, she just had to be patient.
Later, after dinner and when the two were getting ready for bed was when Vi’s walls finally started crumbling down. She’d tried to tough it out, it was just a minor cold anyways, but now, after a day of pretending and a day of spending less time with her girlfriend while she left her to work on her paperwork, Vi finally wanted nothing more than to bed held.
Caitlyn was drying her hands after washing her face in the sink when Vi shuffled over to the doorway between the bathroom and their bedroom. She was dressed in fresh sweatpants, one of Cait’s coziest sweaters, and the fluffiest socks she could find and she was still shivering like she was left out in a snowstorm. Caitlyn’s heart almost broke when she glanced up to find her silently standing there, a look of hesitation on her expression, like she was mulling over a decision.
“Cait?” Vi mumbled so softly she wouldn’t have heard it if she wasn’t solely focused on her girlfriend.
Vi gaze was cast on the intricate tile floor, one hand nervously running along the back of her neck, the other playing with the hem of her sleeve. Caitlyn’s heart almost broke at how soft and tender the sight before her was. She stepped closer and used her slender fingers to gently tip Vi’s chin up so she could look into her silvery blue eyes.
“Yes, love?” She hummed softly, patiently. Vi swallowed and winced at the tightness in her throat from both the vulnerability of the moment and the soreness that had settled its way in there, making every word feel like gravel when she spoke.
She sighed and closed her eyes as Caitlyn cupped her cheek with the tenderness she’d been longing for all day. “I-I think I’m sick.” She admitted softly.
Caitlyn bit back a fond chuckle as she smiled lovingly at her girlfriend, glad she finally got over herself and was now standing here, ready to be taken care of.
“I know, love.” She hummed back and took one of Vi’s hands in her’s. “Let’s get you in bed huh? You must be exhausted.” She leaned down slightly and kissed Vi’s feverish forehead, the warmth radiating there concerning Caitlyn a little more as she tugged Vi gently over to their bed.
She tucked Vi into the soft bed and brushed a strand of damp pink hair away from her face. When Vi glanced up at her, her eyes were impossibly soft. “Can we…can we cuddle?” She murmured and this time Caitlyn did let out a small fond chuckle.
“What else would we be doing love?” She hummed as she joined Vi under the covers. “You’re sick and sleepy and annoying adorable. I’d be crazy not to.” She wrapped her arms around Vi and pulled her flush against her chest, pressing a kiss to her cheek before Vi tucked her face into her chest with a deep content sigh.
Vi only hummed in response and wrapped her own arm tighter around Caitlyn’s waist as she pressed a featherlight kiss to her collarbone before promptly hitching and letting out an impossibly soft sneeze into her girlfriend before she could even try to move. “N’hChhuhhu.” She sniffled wetly with an embarrassed groan.
Caitlyn only chuckled and held her tighter. “Bless you darling. Sleep now, I’ve got you”
Vi finally let her eyes flutter closed as she relaxed fully into Caitlyn’s touch, feeling slightly better for the first time all day. “Mmm…thandk you for being patient with me.” She mumbled sleepily a while later when Caitlyn was sure she’d already fallen asleep.
Caitlyn smile softly into her hair and kissed her. “Always, Violet.” She whispered. “I love you.”
She could feel Vi’s sleepy smile against her skin as she whispered the words back before they both fell into a deep loving, very much needed sleep.

Yay! I actually got something written—I already had the base for it written years ago when I was in my Supergirl era. Anyways, there’s more where this comes from. Enjoy! (Also not proof read as always)
Supergirl/Kara Danvers x Reader
TW: throwing up, not too graphic but definitely mentioned
Mysterious Kryptonian Flu Pt.1
Kara groans as she wakes up, slowly opening her eyes as she sits up in bed. Her mind feels groggy, her limbs ache, and she feels just plain awful—which is something she is very much not used to.
Looking over, she sees your side of the bed is empty. Kara lets out a soft whimper at the thought of standing up to look for you. Using her x-ray vision, she scans the apartment and finds you standing in the kitchen. Every single bone in her body aches in protest as she gets out of bed, her desire to be near you stronger than her exhaustion.
She stumbles into the kitchen, her legs surprisingly wobbly and she catches herself against the counter for support. “Morning, baby!” You chime happily, your back turn away from Kara as you make breakfast. You had heard her come into the room, though.
Upon not receiving an answer, you immediately turn around, eyes growing wide with concern as they land on your girlfriend. “Kara?” You ask, walking closer to her, quickly sensing something is wrong.
Her normally happy, smiling face is pale, and slightly green, and there’s definitely no smile on her face. “Kara, babe?” You try again, closing the distance between the two of you and putting a gentle hand on her shaking, pj-clad shoulder. “Are you okay?” She finally looks up at you.
All you see is pain, confusion and panic swimming in her eyes. Kara shakes her head at your question and you look her up and down. She’s shaking. Hard. Like she’s about to pass out or something.
“Come on babe, I think you should sit down.” You loop your arm through hers and she nods in agreement as she leans heavily on you. You lead her to the couch, helping her sit down before kneeling down in front of her, placing a gentle hand on each of her knees.
“Kara, what’s going on?” You look up at her, visible worry all over your expression. She takes a few seconds to try and think of what to say. Her mind is slow. You wait somewhat patiently. “I-I don’t know.” Kara answers, her voice sounding raw and painful.
You rub one of her knees encouragingly as you wait for her to continue. Her eyes squeeze shut for a second and she swallows hard before opening them again. “I feel…bad. Icky. Everything hurts…” Kara tries to explain her unknown feelings. “…my head hurts and it feels…cloudy? And…” What was the word? Kara thinks again at how to describe it.
“…nauseous. My stomach feels like that.” She finishes and closes her eyes again. You frown deeply. It definitely sounds like your superhero girlfriend is sick, but you’re pretty sure that’s not possible. And you know she hasn’t blown out her powers or overworked herself recently at all.
“Poor baby…” You start to say but Kara cuts you off by super-speeding suddenly out of the room. You call after her as you run as fast as your human legs will take you, reaching the bathroom just seconds after her.
Your heart drops when you see her leaning over the toilet, gripping the sides hard with her hands as she throws up. You’re immediately by her side, taking a deep breath to calm your own panic before you gather up the strands of Kara’s soft golden hair that’s falling around her face. You tie it up in a messy ponytail then move to rub her back with you hand, murmuring words of comfort as she continues to be sick.
Luckily Kara’s bathroom is small enough that you can reach the sink from where you’re sitting and you keep one hand on her back while you reach under the sink and find a clean wash cloth. You run it under cool water and then gently press to the back of your girlfriend’s neck.
With your full attention back on her, it’s clear she’s in a lot of pain. When you think about it, she’s never thrown up ever in her life until now, perks of being a Kryptonian you guess. But now…you don’t know what’s going on, and you can’t imagine how awful she feels.
You rub her back and do her best to comfort her until she eventually loosens her grip on the toilet and slowly sinks back into your arms.
“Shhh. I’ve got you baby. I’m here.” You soothe, brushing some stray strands of hair from Kara’s face.
You move the wash cloth from the back of her neck and use it to gently wipe off her face then you lean over slightly to flush the toilet.
Now you just hold Kara, both arms wrapped securely around her as she buries her face into your chest, breathing heavily. You can feel warm silent tears dripping onto your shirt and your heart breaks.
You rest your face to her hair and kiss her head. “You’re okay love. I know it hurts. I’m sorry. You’ll be okay, I’ve got you.” You hum, not quite sure of what to say, but your words seem to calm her down a bit and you take it as a win.
She still shakes slightly in your arms and her eyes are tightly shut but her breathing calms and you just continue to hold her until suddenly she’s tensing and throws herself out of your arms and faces back to the toilet.
You do the same as before, re-tying Kara’s hair to keep the extra strands out of her face and run her back, murmuring sweet nothings until she’s done.
She falls back into your arms again, shaking even harder this time. You wipe her face and hug her tightly as you gently rock her back and forth on the cold tile floor.
She’s crying even harder this time, you notice, and you know it will only make her feel worse and dehydrate her more so you quickly think of how to calm her down.
“Kara, Bluebird?” You ask, using your nickname for her, hoping it will catch her attention. It does. She doesn’t look at you but she hums in response.
“You still have your powers, yeah?” You wonder and she gives a slight nod against your chest. “Okay good…just try and listen to my heartbeat alright? Focus on me baby.” You suggest softly.
Kara nods again and takes a shaky breath before closing her eyes again as she hones in on one sound, blocking out everything else as she listens to the soft yet slightly faster than normal sound of your heartbeat.
After a few minutes her crying fades into soft sniffles and her breathing finally calms down.
“Good job, baby.” You praise gently, glad you’re able to provide some sort of comfort to your miserable girlfriend.
Kara keeps listening for a while and you keep holding her, checking in every few minutes as the two of you just breathe together.
Eventually she hasn’t thrown up for a while and you assume she isn’t too comfortable on the floor. She should be in bed.
“Kara, love?” You whisper in her ear and she makes another small noise in response to show she’s listening.
“Do you think you’re done?” She shrugs against you, still feeling terrible, but it seems the worst of the nausea has passed.
“How about we get you back in bed huh?” Kara immediately nods and wraps her arms loosely around your waist as you pick her up bridal and start carrying her out of the bathroom.
On the way there she sniffles softly then takes a sudden breath. “NuhHhnChiuu! Nhnh…nHuhSchUuuh!” She sneezes twice against your chest, wiping her runny nose along your shirt. She’s too tired to notice and you’re too in love to care.
You just kiss the top of her head. “Bless you babygirl.” You reach the bedroom set her down on the soft mattress. She immediately curls up as you pull the blankets over her.
“I’ll be right back.” You promise as you kiss her forehead, growing when you feel how warm it is. She’s definitely running a fever.
You leave her cozy in bed and make your way to the kitchen to get some things to help her but your first priority is texting her sister Alex. Being the DEO’s lead expert in Kryptonian physiology and Kara’s sister, she definitely needs to know what’s up.
You explain the situation and she answers almost immediately, texting that she’s on her way.
You finish gathering some things for Kara and make your way back to the bed. “I’m back baby.” You hum gently as you sit down carefully next to her.
You help her into a sitting position, leaning her against some pillows. “Here, small sips okay?” You hold a glass of cool water up to her lips and she eagerly takes a few sips. She sighs as the cool water soothes some of the burning in her throat.
“Thanks.” Kara rasps, speaking for the first time in a while. “Mhm” You nodded before she suddenly lets out a small groan.
You’re immediately more alert. “You okay, do you think you’re gonna be sick again?” You place your hand on her shoulder.
“No…it jus’ hurdts.” Kara wines and you nod, pulling her into a comforting hug.
“You’re okay baby. If you think you’re going to throw up just let me know, I have a bucket here so you don’t have to get up, sound good?” You reach over to the floor and pick up a bucket you’d brought over.
“Okay.” Kara nods as you let go of the hug. Her breath hitches a moment later as she shivers.
“Huhnn..SshhChuu!” She sneezes sleepily, just once, into her lap.
“Bless you, Kar.” You place a hand on her shoulder once again and run your thumb gently along her shirt. “Is there anything else I can do to help sweetheart?” You tilt her chin gently with her fingers so you can look into her impossibly blue eyes.
“Jus’ hold me, please?” She practically whimpers and you offer her a solemn smile.
“Of course, baby. Come here.” You move to get under the blankets with her and she snuggles into your open arms, resting in the space between your begs.
She leans back against your chest and you wrap your arms firmly around her and kiss the top of her head as her eyes flutter closed.
“I texted Alex. She’s on her way.” You let your girlfriend know softly.
“Thank you.” Kara whispers back with a yawn.
“Of course. Try and get some rest now, love.” You hum, slipping your hand under her shirt so you can trail soft circles along her skin, hoping it will help her feel a little calmer.
You love Kara with all your heart and you know she loves you too, but you can’t do what Alex can, you can’t offer the same expertise. The two of them have such an incredible bond and with whatever’s going on with Kara right now, you know it’s best to have Alex here too.
A while later, you’re not sure if she’s fallen asleep or not until you feel her body tense up in your arms.
“Oh Rao.” Kara murmurs as you react just in time, grabbing the bucket and holding it in front of her.
You rub her back and try to keep her calm. As she throws up again, falling back into your arms when she’s done.
She whimpers as she curls up in your lap, wrapping her arms tight around your waist, some part of her hoping she could just hug the pain away.
You hold your arms around her too. “You’re alright babygirl. It’s okay.” You soothe, running your hands through her silky golden hair and continuing to do so until she seems more at ease.
“Done?” You ask and she nods. “Alright baby, I need to get up now…” You start. “…but I promise I’ll be right back.” You add when you feel her arms grip tighter around you.
The blonde nods and lets you go so you can get up. You press a soft kiss to her forehead before taking the bucket to the bathroom sink to wash it out. It’s a little gross, but you don’t care. It’s what you’ve gotta do, and you’ll do anything for your girl.
You come back to the bed and sit back down next to Kara’s trembling form with a packet of saltines in your hand.
Like before, you help her sit up slowly and then hold the water to her lips so she can take a few sips to ease her burning throat. Then you hand her a cracker and she frowns at it, a small crinkle forming in her brows.
“I know you don’t want to eat but your body needs it. You’ll feel even worse next time if you don’t have anything in there to get out.” You point to her stomach and she nods her understanding.
She gets through three crackers before she doesn’t want any more. “Good job baby. I’m proud of you.” You praise, giving her a loving smile which she does her best to return.
“What can I do to help?’ You ask again, not sure what to do until Alex gets here. Hopefully that’s soon.
“Hold me again?”
You nod and the two of your wordlessly sift so Kara’s head is resting against your chest and you have your arms wrapped around her. You slip your hands under her shirt again but this time you run your fingers along her stomach.
She relaxes into your hold and you continue your gentle ministrations as her breath slowly changes and she drifts off into a light sleep.
You smile down at her, torn by the fact that she’s absolutely miserable but still somehow he most adorable person-well, Kryptonian you’ve ever seen.
Her mouth is open slightly as she sleeps, her nose almost too congested for breathing. Your heart sinks when it dawns on you really how bad she feels.
“I’m so sorry you don’t feel good baby. We’ll figure this out, I promise.” You whisper and even though she’s asleep, you could’ve sworn she leans more into your touch.
You press a light kiss to her forehead—still hot with fever, but at least it’s holding steady. You make a mental note to address that later with Alex, but for now, while you wait, you’re content to just hold your girlfriend and hope that she starts feeling better soon.

eating this opportunity up 👉👈 post s2 Jinx nonnie here. Powder working on something or her dads while trying to hide a cold from her partner?
Tumblr media
You got it anon! Also feel free to pick an emoji to sign off with if you think you’ll be sending more prompts in the future if you want! :) Also I have a part 2 planned in my head if people want it, I just wanted to get this part out first for you all to enjoy!
Sniffles and Puzzles
You tap your foot restlessly while you sip the soda you’ve nursing for a while. Your gaze dances around the bar, taking in all the sights, the sounds, the people.
You sometimes love just sitting and watching the world go by, each person doing their own thing, living in their own world. But you’re starting to get anxious as you look down at your watch again.
It’s well into Powder’s lunch break and you haven’t even seen her since you set foot in the bar half an hour ago.
She’s been super busy working on a big project in her workshop lately and you understand that she sometimes tucks herself away when she gets sucked into an idea like this, so you suggested last night after you’d finally convinced her to join you in bed for some actual sleep, that the two of you should get lunch tomorrow during her break.
She agreed before cuddling up to you and falling asleep almost instantly, but now tomorrow is today and your girlfriend is nowhere to be seen. She’d left this morning before you’d gotten up, probably to work on her project before work because she’s crazy like that sometimes.
Normally you sit in your favorite booth and she’ll saunter on over immediately, somehow always sensing when you enter the bar, excited to see you and bringing you your favorite drink. You’ll smile and pull her in for a kiss and she’ll roll her eyes playfully murmuring something about being at work, but really she doesn’t mind. Plus she wants everyone there to know you’re taken. Then she’ll make her way back to the bar and chat up customers while serving drinks and food and you’ll sit and watch her from across the room as she animatedly works her way through her shift.
But today, nothing. After a few more minutes of just staring and waiting, you decide you’re about to get up and go look for your girlfriend when a flash of bright blue catches your attention by the bar.
You look over to finally see Powder for the first time today, though mostly from the back. She’s facing away from you, chatting to some customers while expertly making their drinks.
Watching carefully, you frown as you notice she seems off. Her movements while smooth and precise to anyone else watching, are a few ticks slower than how she normally goes about working the bar. She seems to move about almost sluggishly compared to her normal level of energy.
And when she turns slightly so her side is facing you, even from across the room you note the deep pink flush to her pale cheeks. You can even see how that normally big and bright smile of hers doesn’t quite reach her cheeks.
The second the people have gotten their drinks and moved away, you’re on your feet and taking their place before Powder can slip into the back rooms.
“Heya, can I get a refill over here?” You tease lightly, setting your cup on the counter. Your girlfriend turns at the sound of your familiar voice.
“Hey, baby.” She hums, leaning forward a little against the counter. “Nate’ll top you up. I’ve gotta…” She tries, jutting a finger over her shoulder to gesture to the back. Your worry and frown deepen when she speaks. Her usual raspy chirp sounds rougher, deeper, and more tired than normal.
“Wait! Pow...” You reach across the wood to gently grab her bicep. You crinkle your brows, “…had your lunch break yet?” You ask and she shakes her head with a light sniff before her eyes widen and her cheeks flush even darker.
“Shit! Our lunch date. Baby I’m sorry I lost track of time I-I—Huhh….nuHhhNuhhssChhuu!!”
She’s interrupted by a single sudden sneeze which she catches into cupped hands as she turns away from you. The loud sound earns a few turned heads as she rubs her nose harshly with her knuckles, the poor appendage much too red.
“Bless you!” You’re immediately handing her the spare handkerchief you keep on your pocket and she takes it gratefully.
Powder blows her nose quickly, but instead of offering relief like she’d hoped, the action only made her nose more itchy. You hear the way her breath pauses a second and you silently catch her gaze and nod your head in the direction of the back rooms.
She nods frantically, not wanting to keep drawing attention to herself and she quickly rushes off and out of sight, with you seconds behind her. By the time you reach the back she’s already bent forward and letting herself lose control as she catches the fit into your handkerchief. You rush to put a hand on her shoulder, steadying her.
“…Hgnhnh…hh'gtxSHUUHH! hh'KTSCHUH!!…heh-hH! HhHUh’dssSSCCHhhuhw…HhhDTSSCHHHhihww!!…ughh." Powder trembles slightly with the force of her sneezes and you’re taken aback by their harshness. She never sneezes this much or this hard.
“Goodness! Bless you, love.” You move to rub your hand up and down her back as she tends to her nose. You wait patiently until she finally lowers the soiled cloth and you gently turn her around to face you, your palm cupping her flushed cheek.
“Pow…” You start, your face twisting with loving concern when you observe her appearance again. She really does look miserable and it breaks your heart. You don’t get to finish the thought that you hadn’t even fully formed yet before because your girlfriend suddenly lunges into your arms.
She buries her face in your neck with a harsh sniffle, though this time not from being sick. “Woah, hey, baby what’s…” You’re quick to wrap your arms tightly around her in return. She lets out a small choked sob.
“I-I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you—I thought I’d be fine and then I felt worse and I forgot our lunch date and now I’m such a mess and you must…” She cries into you, and you’re quite taken aback by the sudden change of mood as her words tumble out in a ramble that you’re pretty sure might be caused by fever.
Your heart sinks even more at the insinuation that you’d be mad at her for keeping her cold hidden. You could never be mad at her for something like this.
“Woah, shhh, hey…hey. Powder. Breathe with me hmm? In…and out…yeah there you go.” You soothe her, gently guiding her to sit with you on the floor when you notice her legs shaking a little. Your finger tilts her chin up so you can meet her gaze as you take deep breaths with her until she calms down.
“It’s okay, Pow. I’m not mad or anything like that at all. You don’t have anything to be sorry for babygirl. You don’t feel well, it’s okay, I understand.” You hum softly, wiping away a few tears from her face with both your thumbs. She looks up at you, her eyes still shiny.
“Y-you’re not?” She sniffs and you offer her a reassuring smile before leaning forward to gently kiss her forehead, both to comfort her and check for fever. You know she knows you would never be upset at her for anything, but if the heat coming from her forehead indicates anything, it’s that she isn’t quite thinking clearly right now.
“Of course not, love. Now, how about we get you home hmm? You definitely need to be resting with a fever like this.” She nods in agreement and you hold her to your chest, rubbing her back gently for another minute or so until she’s completely calmed down.
“Ready to go babes?” You hum softly in her ear. Powder murmurs something against your shirt and you take the incoherent words as an okay and slowly start to coax her off your lap so you can both stand up.
You guide her to the “break room” area that Vander and Silco have set up for all their employees (plus their daughter and you of course) and sit her down on a cushy chair, she immediately curls into it.
“I’ll go grab your stuff and let your dads know I’m taking you home, ‘kay?” You tuck a loose strand of soft blue hair behind her ear. She answers with a quiet ‘mkay and it doesn’t take you long to do exactly what you’d said and in minutes you’re back by her side.
“C’mon baby let’s get you home to rest.” The two of you make your way out of the bar, you holding her stuff with one arm while your other wraps securely around her waist, holding her close as you begin the short walk back to your small shared apartment.
By the time you get there you can tell Powders’ even more tired than before, and you attempt to lead her straight to your shared bedroom as soon as you get home. Key word being ‘attempt’ because the second Powders senses what you’re doing, she stops in the middle of the living room area.
“Don’ wanna rest.” She pouts at you in an almost childlike way and you suppress an amused smile, giving her a soft one instead.
“I know Pow, but your body needs it.” You counter as carefully as you can, knowing how stubborn your girlfriend can be. She glares at you a little but in her current state the look is far from menacing, it’s more adorable, really.
“How ‘bout we chill out and watch a movie or do a puzzle or something like that?” You offer, used to the fact that even when exhausted or sick, Powder likes to keep her mind busy in some sort of way. Often you’ll have to convince her to take breaks from her work or projects, so you’ve come to learn that offering chill but still engaging activities works pretty well for your girlfriend who never seems to be able to sit still for too long.
She debates this for a moment before agreeing then promptly muffling another harsh set of sneezes into her elbow. “Bless you. Go choose something. I’ll find you some tissues and maybe some meds. I’m pretty sure you’re running a fever.” You kiss her forehead again as you run your hand along her arm. She shivers slightly in response.
You make a mental note to grab a few extra throw blankets as you both set off on your side missions. You hear a few more sneezes echo through the apartment as you gather up some sick day necessities and you smile softly to yourself. It’ll be an interesting few days with a sick, pouty, stubborn girlfriend to take care of, but you can’t think of anything else you’d rather do than make sure she gets all the rest and love she needs.
Plus you get a few free days of doing nothing but cuddling with your girlfriend, so you suppose in the end, you’ll get all the quality time you could want with her—if you can keep her away from her workshop, and cozied up in bed instead.

Hii friend! can you do prompt 20 for Kara x sick reader? Only if you feel like it, no rush at all! 🩷
Tumblr media
Thanks for the prompt @trulysapphic ! 🫶 Finally got it written lol, I hope you enjoy! (Also sorry it’s a bit short, always more than happy to write a part two if ppl want!)
Supergirl/Kara Danvers x fem!Reader—“You sound like you’re catching a cold.”
The Perks of Dating a Superhero
“Babe you almost ready? They’ll be here any second!” Kara calls out gently across the loft as she puts the final touches on the dining room table.
It’s just a simple dinner with Alex and Eliza, but Kara is still anxious for everything to be perfect. You haven’t gotten together in a while so she’s excited to have you all hanging out and catching up.
“Right here, love.” You come up beside her, kissing her cheek as your hand rests on her shoulder.
Kara turns to smile brightly at you. Wrapping her arms around your waist, she gently tugs you closer and pulls you in for a proper kiss. Her lips are warm and soft, tasting vaguely like strawberries and you find yourself melting into her.
A knock at the door interrupts you two a moment later and you clear your throat as you pull back with a slight blush. Even after years of dating, Kara still manages to get you flustered so easily. Must be her Kryptonian charm. You have just enough time to collect yourself before Alex opens the door, inviting herself in with a wine bottle in one hand a small boxed cheesecake in the other.
You chuckle softly because it’s very on brand for her, though it momentarily catches in your throat, and you let out a small cough then wince slightly as you swallow. The action causing your throat to feel tight and slightly off. You just need some water.
You don’t think much of it, probably some dust or something catching in your throat but Kara turns to you, a slight frown plastered on her face that fades as quickly as it appears because you send her a reassuring smile and Eliza enters the apartment seconds later, effectively pulling your blonde’s attention from you as she goes to greet her adoptive mom.
You’re quickly swept up into the energy of the night as you all catch up on your lives—Eliza on her latest research, you on your latest cases, and Alex and Kara on their agent/hero duties (which they do their best to downplay as to not worry their mom too much), though Eliza knows they can take care of themselves.
The dinner is delicious, but you find yourself eating a little less than normal. You don’t notice one bit, but of course Kara does and she makes a mental note to check in on you later. Right now you’re laughing with her family and she wants to stay in the moment.
Her concern returns later though, when you pass on a slice of cheesecake. You love cheesecake. You claim it’s because you already treated yourself to something sweet on the way home from work and you’re full from dinner. You aren’t lying, she knows because you brought her one as well, but it’s weird for you to pass on treats when she’s pretty sure you have an even bigger sweet tooth than her.
“Hey love.” You feel your girlfriend’s familiar embrace as she wraps you in a gentle hug from behind as you finish up the last of the dishes from dinner. Alex and Eliza have left and it’s back to just the two of you in Kara’s cozy loft. Kara always offers to do the dishes with her superspeed but you usually decline, you like the mundaneness of the simple task. Living a life with a superhero girlfriend has its perks, which is why you sometimes take pleasure in the normal things.
“Hi baby.” You hum, smiling softly to yourself as you lean back into her unwavering hold and she kisses your shoulder. “Tonight was nice” You add after a moment of the two of you just enjoying the quiet together.
“It was. Thank you for cooking, it was so delicious baby.” She murmurs against your neck, her voice sweet like honey, placing a few soft kisses where you’re most sensitive. A shiver runs down your spine, but the sensation somehow does more than just make your heart beat a little faster and suddenly you’re having to pull away as your nose tingles and your breath hitches.
Kara watches in slight confusion before she realizes and her hand is gently on your back as you muffle two heavy sneezes into your elbow. You sniff harshly.
“Ble..” Kara starts but you hold up a finger, your eyes fluttering as your nose teases you again. You’re not done, it seems muffling had the adverse effect, only encouraging your nose to sneeze again.
“Nuhhh…hSHshhtshhh! Hhuhh’Tschoo! ‘chShiiew!” You catch the sneezes in your shirt, letting them out with full force. You rub your nose against your sleeve and internally wince at the wet trail it leaves.
“Oh bless you love!” Kara is taken a little by surprise and you can only sniffle again as you get your bearings. The dish towel you had been holding was now on the floor but neither of you cared. Ever the protective girlfriend she is, Kara immediately gently turns you to face her, putting the back of her hand to your forehead to check for fever.
“Are you feeling alright babe? You sound like you’re catching a cold.” She worries, concern etched deeply in her expression. You lean into her cool touch. “Dunno, maybe.” You shrug slightly and Kara takes note of your tone which is already littered with congestion after just a few sneezes. She hums.
“How about we take a hot shower? That might help, then early bed?” She proposes and you offer a grateful smile. “That sound wonderful, Kar.”
Your girlfriend beams at you, though you can still see the worry in her ocean blue eyes, and she takes your hand, leading you to the bathroom.
You sit on the closed toilet seat while Kara gets the shower going and once it’s running at a nice hot but not too hot temperature, she prompts you to get in while she goes to collect two extra fluffy towels and set out your favorite pjs on the bed.
When you step into the steamy shower, you feel as if every cell in your body releases a sigh. The hot water soothes an ache in your bones that you hadn’t even realized was there and you relax even further a minute later when your girlfriend joins you under the stream and holds your back against her chest. She kissed your shoulder, similar to earlier, but this time it’s more tender, sweet, with no further intentions than to just have you close and provide you with comfort.
“Any better?” She hums over the rush and pattering of water on the shower floor and you nod and she kisses you again. The two of you stand for a while, taking turns in the hot water and never letting go of your gentle hold on each other. Kara washes your hair, taking her time as she runs her fingers through your hair and massages your scalp. Your heart beats slow and steady, completely at peace under the tender touch of your girl.
Eventually, Kara can tell you’re getting tired when you yawn a few times and the two of you quickly wrap up your shower. Soon you’re both settled on your shared bed, both in fresh pjs, and you’re sitting cross-legged on top of the duvet while Kara sits behind you, running your brush through your wet hair. After brushing it out, she dries it with your hair dryer and you revel in the feeling of the warm hair on the back of your neck and Kara’s fingers running along your scalp.
When she’s done, she offers to braid your hair and you accept, the two of you exchanging sweet nothing as she works through your long strands.
“How are you feeling, baby?” She asks when you both finally settle down under the covers and she pulls you close in her arms. She kisses your forehead, relieved when it’s still of normal temperature.
“Tired, I guess. My throats a little sore.” You murmur as you gaze into her bright loving eyes. Kara offers you a sympathetic pout before leaning in to press those soft pink lips against yours.
“Poor love.” She murmurs in between soft kisses to your lips, cheeks, anywhere on your face she can reach. You revel in the way her touch both comforts and sparks something in you though you’re quickly turning away a few moments later.
“Kara! You’ll get sick.” You pout up at her but she only smirks in response.
“My love…” her voice is smooth as silk and she lets out a small chuckle, the sound tinkling in your ears like a wind chime on a sunny day. She kisses your lips once more, with a little extra passion for emphasis as she murmurs against you, “…I can’t get sick, not from you.” She reminds softly.
You blush slightly. “Oh right, superpowers.” The small chuckle you let out at your own forgetfulness quickly turns into a yawn. Kara simply smiles at you.
“You tired baby?” She hums, running her hands through your hair.
You shrug sheepishly, “maybe a little.”
Your girlfriend just pulls you closer into her arms and you tuck your head against her chest. You feel her kiss your hair before resting her chin atop your head.
“Let’s rest then, mhm? If you are getting sick, which I’m pretty sure you are, you’ll need some good sleep.” She says into your hair and you smile softly as you begin to close your eyes and settle even more into the comfy bed.
“Yeah, maybe we can kick this cold to the moon asap.” You agree and Kara hums softly at your words, knowing that probably won’t be the case. As soon as you start getting sick, you always end up sick, there’s no trying to kick it early. That’s just always how you’ve been.
“A kick to the moon? And I thought I was the one with superpowers.” She jokes lightly before adding, “what do you want for breakfast, love?”
You think a moment, your thoughts becoming slow as your body gets more and more relaxed. “Hmm whatever you want baby.” Your reply is punctuated with another yawn.
“Oh well in that case, I’m thinking I’ll surprise you…strawberries from Rome? Pastries from Paris? You’ll just have to find out I suppose.” She teases lightly and your heart warms because both of those are your favorites. Damn Kryptonian knows exactly what she’s doing.
“Ya know you don’t have to fly halfway around the world to get me breakfast?” You giggle and Kara huffs.
“Donuts and coffee from Noonan’s it is then.”
“Wait wait…I mean those strawberries sound pretty tempting.” You know she’s joking about Noonan’s, but you do want those strawberries. Kara hugs you a little tighter.
“I guess the surprise is no longer then. Strawberries it is.” She hums and turns out the light so you can both fall asleep.
You may not be feeling the best, but you’re in the best care possible. Just being in your loving girlfriend’s arms would be enough for you…but dating a superhero has its perks. And whether it be dishes at super speed, the strongest immune system in the world, strawberries from Rome, or just her simple caring touch, you fall asleep easily knowing you’re the luckiest girl on the planet because of her.

High School Jinx x fem!reader AU (both are 18)
Damn this one poured out of me! I may or may not have ignore some homework but well here y’all go! This one was adapted from one of my other fics I did for Feveruary day 1. Enjoy 🫶
Little Ball o’ Germs
Shaking the rain out of your hair when you enter the school hallways in the morning, you immediately head to the secret spot under the stairwell where you meet your girlfriend every morning. The big smile plastered on your face immediately falls when you find the spot to be abnormally empty.
Because of her older sister Vi’s early morning practices, Jinx usually gets to school way before you and is always working on homework or her newest project as she waits for you.
You lean against the wall, fidgeting anxiously as you wait for her, your mind wandering to why she could be late. Maybe Vi’s practice got canceled and they both slept in, or maybe she’s in the school workshop and lost track of time, or maybe she’s pulling a prank on you. You wouldn’t put it past her, knowing how mischievous your girlfriend can be sometimes, however you can’t get rid of the feeling that something wrong.
Glancing down at your watch, there’s only ten minutes until class and your brows furrow. Jinx hates being late, unknown to popular belief, she loves class and would never miss one unless she had to…or unless you’re busy making out in the middle of the day.
You make your way outside to the bleachers, the area where Vi, her friends and some of yours all hang out before school. You quickly spot her bright pink hair which is dripping slightly from an after-practice shower. The rain has lightened up a bit, but it doesn’t matter since the bleachers are covered. She’s sitting on the silver bleachers, her girlfriend Caitlyn settled comfortably in between her spread out legs. They smile brightly when you approach them.
“Hey squirt!” Vi calls and you roll your eyes but you’re smiling. The nickname stemmed years ago from admiration when she finally grew taller than you. Vi should be in college but due to her dedication to athletics, she may or may not have failed enough classes to keep her behind for an extra year. She doesn’t seem to mind though, she met Caitlyn and gets to hang out at The Lanes High School a little longer.
“Vi I’m not even a year younger than you! We’re in the same grade.” You deadpan and she chuckles. “Aw but you’re still like a lil’ sister to me.” She defends and you take the opportunity to do what you came over here for.
“Speaking of, where’s Jinx?” You ask, your foot tapping anxiously a little against the grass. Vi’s face falls slightly, which makes your stomach drop then twist with worry. She’s quickly smiling again.
“Hey, just messin’ with ya. She’s home. Caught a cold. She wanted to come in but I made her stay, you know how stubborn she is.” You release a breath when you hear that your girlfriend is fine, well as fine as she can be with a cold. “Do I ever.” You smile slightly with a shake of your head.
“Vi, darling we’ve got to get to class.” Caitlyn speaks then, her accented voice smooth as silk as she looks up at her girlfriend. “Right. Well, see ya later!” Vi stands up, throwing her backpack over her shoulder and offering Caitlyn a hand.
“Want me to stop by the office and give ‘em an excuse for you? Guessing you’re cutting now?” Vi offers and you give her a grateful smile. Sometimes you swear she can read minds with how well she knows you all. The second she’d said Jinx was sick, you were already planning to go and be with her.
“Thanks Vi, you’re the best.” You wave goodbye to the pair as Vi wraps her arm around Cait’s waist. “I know.” She smirks and Caitlyn rolls her eyes fondly. “Hey good luck taking care of our girl, she a handful when sick.” Is Vi’s last word before you nod and they make their way into the school.
You’re immediately putting up the hood to your raincoat and making your way out to your car in the parking lot. It takes a second to get her engine going and you make a mental note to have Jinx look at it when she’s better. Then you’re making the quick ten minute drive to your girlfriend’s house.
Soon you’re letting yourself in with the spare key she gave you a while back. “Jinx?” You call out as you make your way into the general living area before checking the kitchen too. You peek your head into her bedroom but it’s also empty, which means you’d bet anything she’s in the garage at her makeshift workbench where she spends 90% of her time.
“Jinx, babe, you here?” You call out once more as you make your way there. Instead of hearing your girlfriend’s familiar gentle raspy voice, you hear a harsh, painful sounding cough coming from the other room, and it’s loud enough that echos over the music she’s also blasting.
Immediately rushing to find her, you enter the garage and indeed find her sitting at her workbench, hunched over some new gadgets she’s working on. You lean against the wall a moment, taking a second to watch her in her element. You love seeing her get so into her own space, but when she muffles a pair of wet sneezes into her shoulder, you make yourself known by turning off her record player.
“Wha—? Oh! Heya toots!” Jinx spins around in her chair, sounding surprisingly energetic for someone who looks like she definitely has a fever.
The first thing you notice when she faces you is the bright pink flush to her cheeks and red tipped nose. Said nose twitches slightly a moment later and she’s quickly turning away to sneeze again, this time into the crook of her arm.
“Bless you.” You hum in lieu of greeting as you cross the room and come up behind her, wrapping your arms around her shoulders and looking at the jumble of tech in front of her.
“Whatcha working on?” You ask, pressing a light kiss to her bare shoulder. She’s wearing sweatpants and tank top, her own designs graffitied on the front.
“Nothin’ much. What are ya doing here?” She asks as she continues to work and you move to pull up a stool, propping your face up with your hand as you lean on the wooden surface. You reach out and curl a few strands of her loose blue hair in your fingers.
“You didn’t show up, I was worried. Vi told me you’re sick, hmm? So why aren’t you in bed?” You wonder and she sets down her tools, turning to you with a shy smile and a strong sniff.
“I dunno what you’re on about babes, I feel right as rain.” She jokes lightly and you can hear deep congestion in her tone and see the exhaustion hidden behind her gaze. You roll your eyes. “Really…” you reach up and gently cup her cheek with one hand while the other one carefully removes her safety goggles from her forehead before you press the back of your hand there.
Just as you thought, she’s burning up. “…so this fever you’ve got? Decided to ignore it, huh?”
Jinx chuckles slightly at your words. “Seems that way.” Is her reply, then she releases a tired sigh and leans forward, resting her head to your chest. “I kinda feel like crap. Jus’ don’ like sittin around.” She admits softly and you lift her chin up you can look her in the eyes.
“Let’s get you back to bed hmm? I know you don’t like resting, but you need it.” You murmur softly, hoping she’ll agree with you, though with the way her eyelids are fluttering every few seconds, you know she’s exhausted. Your girlfriend only nods and you smile, hoping off the stool and holding your hand out for her. She takes it and you lead her back to her bedroom.
It’s not long before she’s tucked in, a fresh glass of water on her nightstand, and a couple fever reducing pills already working their way through her system. She looks up at you, her big blue eyes tired and soft with admiration. “Will-will you stay with me? I don’t want you to miss school…but I also really don’t want to be alone right now.” A pout forms on her plump pink lips and you resist the urge to kiss her right then and there.
“Of course, baby. I’m not worried about missing a few classes, especially when I have such a good reason to…” You crawl onto the bed in front of her and lean forward to kiss her forehead sweetly. Jinx’s brows scrunch slightly in mock confusion. “Oh, ‘nd what reason is that?” You wait a beat before throwing yourself carefully into her arms, gently tackling her against the fluffy pillows.
The sound of her laugh makes your heart feel fuzzy and your chest warm as you gaze lovingly at her, the two of you now lying there, your arms wrapped comfortingly around her. “My girlfriend is sick and in desperate need of cuddles, I can’t possibly go to school knowing that!” You exclaim but suddenly her laughing turns to coughing and she’s turning away into her pillow to avoid coughing on you.
Your face immediately falls as you move to rub her back. A few seconds later and she turns back to face you, her cheeks even more flushed after the force of her fit. With a sympathetic sigh, you cup her cheek and lean in slightly to kiss her forehead again. It’s still much too warm under your lips and your own forehead crinkles in worry as Jinx’s hand starts to play with the hair that falls easily around your shoulders.
She offers a tired smile as she gazes into your tender eyes. “Thank you baby, for staying…hey…your hairs’ wet.” She notes and you chuckle slightly. “Yeah it’s raining today.” You state like it’s obvious but over her shoulder you can see her curtains are closed.
“…guess I wouldn’t know, been ‘sleep for a while.” She mumbles and her eyes soften impossibly more as she looks at you. “Poor love.” You hum before moving to sit up and your girlfriend mirrors the action. You bring an arm around her shoulders as you lean against the pillows and she curls herself into you.
“Ugh it’s just so annoying…I feel s-so gro…gruu-hhuh-nhuhh’Schuhh!…ugh gross.” Jinx sneezes into your shirt, her body choosing to emphasize her point. “Bless you babe.” You run your fingers up and down her arm as she sniffs harshly, letting out an annoyed whine. You don’t care at all that she sneezed on you, in fact you find it a little endearing that she’s so comfortable with you that she lets her guard down so much.
“I’m sorry you feel so lousy…how ‘bout I make you some tea for your throat while you change into some fresh pajamas? Getting out of these sweaty clothes might help a bit.” You suggest and she looks up at you, her eyebrows raised. “I’m not sweaty!” She huffs and you roll your eyes.
“Hate to break it to that pretty little fevered brain of yours, but yeah, you kinda are.” You laugh as she wrinkles her nose. “Ugh gross! Remind me why you’re here again?”
You smile widely. “Uhhh because you’re my girlfriend and I love you?” You answer in a joking tone but you both know your words are sincere. She blushes slightly, opening her mouth to say something else but you interrupt her. “Even when you’re a little ball ‘o germs.” You laugh a little and it’s her turn to roll her eyes at you but she holds you a little tighter.
“You know if you stay you’re probably gonna catch this crap.” Is her response, her brows knitted together slightly. You just simply hum and kiss her hair. “Babe, I really don’t care. Plus we spend like all our time together, I’ve probably already gotten it, or if I haven’t then maybe I wont. Don’t worry about me.”
You feel her shift slightly so she can place a featherlight kiss to the side of your neck. “God you’re such a sap.” She hums and you huff out a laugh. “And here I thought you liked that about me!”
She scoffs at your terrible joke. “Stop, you know I do.”
“Okay, okay, pjs and tea?” You prompt and Jinx nods against you before stretching and then making her way off of you. By the time you’re up and by the door, she’s already digging around in her drawers. “I’ll be back in a minutes love.” You call to her and make your way to the kitchen.
A few minutes later and you’re humming quietly to yourself as you search for your girlfriend’s favorite mug, setting it down on the counter next to the teapot. You feel warm arms wrap around your waist from behind and you smile softly when Jinx tucks her face against your shoulder.
“Whatcha doin’ Jinx?” You ask just as the pot shrills and you carefully start pouring out the hot water into the mug.
“Mhmm missed you.” She murmurs against you and you hold back a laugh. “I haven’t even been gone five minutes. Seems like you’re the sap here.” You turn in her hold. Wrapping your own arms around her body and she leans her face to your chest.
“Mmm.” She just hums and you can tell she’s getting really tired. “Back to bed, hmm?” You kiss her soft blue hair. She nods and you grab her tea before the two of you make your way back to her bedroom with your arm wrapped around her shoulders. You smile internally at her new outfit, a different pair of thick cozy sweatpants and a baggy blue and pink sports shirt. It can sometimes drive you crazy when she dresses so casual, though you always think she looks hot.
You settle her back in bed, handing her the tea before finding the extra clothes you leave here for moments just like this and quickly change into them before slipping under the covers with her. You turn dims the lights, hoping it will help with the headache you’re guessing she has. You pull the blankets up snugly around the two of you and she cuddles right up to you.
“Comfortable?” You hum as she takes a few sips of the hot tea and you feel her body relax into your hold. She nods, eyes starting to feel heavier as she envelopes herself in your warmth. She doesn’t protest when you take the mug from her before she can skill it on herself and you set it on the bedstand stand.
You hold Jinx gently, keeping one arm tucked around her at all times, cradling her to your side while your other hand runs soothingly along her arm, sometimes moving to gently scratch her head. You exchange small words here and there, mostly you blessing her when she sneezes, or you murmuring soft nothings in her ears as you run your fingers through her hair.
It’s not long though before the only sounds are her soft snuffles, breathy coughs and the sound of you flipping the pages of a book you’d found within teach and started reading to keep your mind busy.
And this is how you stay for the rest of the day, reading, soothing your girlfriend and tending to her as she drifts in and out of small fevered naps. There’s nowhere else you’d rather be than right here, feeling the slow steady breaths of Jinx’s sleepy breathing synch with your own. Eventually, Caitlyn and Vi will come home from their practices, Vi sweaty and in need of a shower, and Caitlyn still wearing her cheerleading ribbons in her hair, and they’ll find the two of you curled up asleep together, and of course Vi will snap a quick picture before the two of them go about their afternoon, but for now, it’s just you and Jinx. It’s your favorite way to be.
