It's so important to me that Jonathan is so soft in the Superman movie. Jonathan is there asking Lois with worried eyes if their boy is going to be okay. Jonathan is there tearily telling Clark he's proud of him. Jonathan is there recognizing how upset Clark is and coaxing him to talk about it. Jonathan loudly loves his son. There is no guessing game, no question, no room for uncertainty.

And Clark reflects that every day as Superman.

The funniest scenes in Superman (2025) was when Lex used Ultraman for something other than punching Superman. Because you just know ordering this clone around gives Lex such a powertrip.

This bald mf took him to the Pentagon to standby and turn the lights on for his powerpoint. He had him stand in the pocket dimension for god knows how long just to hand a doughnut to the Boravian president.

It sends me into stitches just thinking about it. I genuinely hope Lex just sent Ultraman to the doughnut shop with a 5 dollar bill and he just silently waited in line until it was his turn to order. Just another day in Metropolis.

Do you think Lex had him do his laundry? I do. I really do.

Thoughts on Superman (2025) - some spoilers ahead:

● Eve is a spectacular character. Smart enough to hide her espionage as 'whoo hoo dumb bimbo selfies', dumb enough to send them to Jimmy while angrily muttering shouting to herself in a closet 10 feet from Lex. Iconic. No notes.

● Does... does Jimmy know Clark is Superman, or does he think Clark has been publishing Lois' interviews with Superman? I think he knows.

● Love seeing an early Clark/Lois relationship developing. The awkward fumbling, arguments, and that interview? *chefs kiss*

● David/James Gunn has made it much clearer to me why Synder's Superman just doesn't quite sit right (and I say that as a Cavill fan). He comes across very holier-than-thou. Very angel-sent-from-above. Gunn's Superman is just a guy, who can stop bad things happening so of course he does. If your average kid who's Ma and Pa taught them to help others had the capacity to stop a giant world-changing multinational conflict, they would.

● As always with Superman, I love overanalysing the meaning of certain conversations happening with Clark in the cape. 'I love you'. Said for the first time in the cape. Reciprocated in the cape. Because they aren't 2 different people. And without the hypno glasses, in the cape, Clark is at his most authentic. He's hiding nothing from Lois, when on the face of it, it feels like Superman is a lie, a mask. But it's not. Again, the heart of Superman is he's not some god-like being. He's just a guy, doing his best. Just a guy, totally in love with his badass girlfriend.

Headcanon: Superman really really loves baseball and one thing on his bucket list is to gather enough super beings on his level to play a proper game. So far he’s managed to get three amazons, two New Gods and Lobo.

I love that in the end, what put Lex Luthor away was the efforts of ordinary humans- Eve, Jimmy & Lois.

Really was nice to have a Superman movie where Lois has such a central role and doesn't need to be saved by Superman even once and actually saves him instead.
