The crew goes to fight for Midgar! Was definitely in a Final Fantasy 7 mood due to the recent release of FF VII Rebirth! But I still think fondly of the beginning dark grundy adventures in the Shinra Power plant!

The Boy and his Dragon.

I wanted to finish this for Lunar New Years but this took longer than I wanted it to. Mainly cause I had no clue how to paint a dragon, let alone try painting more of a rendered style lol!

I've never had the courage to go all out full render since I really love to stylize and graphic-ize my paintings. It is something very different from what I make. This was really some I wanted to try with the dramatic lighting, a creature I don't normally draw and a very rendered human in a costume. I definitely learned A LOT! Also dragons are really fun to paint! Definitely went with an eastern style design!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day! 💕

I got to transform paint this background for the Solar Opposites holiday special! It was such a joy to make all the colors fit for such a love struck occasion! I definitely took color inspiration from the target valentines day section, it had to look aesthetic!

Lunar New Year washi tape design for my collaboration with The Washi Station! I was very much inspired by my family's love to decorate our home with florals to celebrate the festivities! Each florals represents something special to bring prosperity and luck for the household!

A little pleinair gouache painting of some boats of my past trips back home to Hong Kong! I love the color combinations of the fisherman's boats that roam in Tai O. It is a fishing village worth a visit if you ever want to go visit Hong Kong :) What made this painting a little difficult was the fact that values were kinda similar so having to bring the boat out from the trees way in the back was a bit of a challenge. Plus the water was also a similar green-blue tone, just had to adjust a few colors so the boats pop!  You can find this painting in my recent Idle Hours 2 book! I only have a few left!

The weekend is almost here! I kind of want to cozy up to Pikmin 4 again, they are all so cute! Its going to rain here so this is definitely the perfect stay at home weather game!

Currently nostalgic for my childhood anime! Especially Cardcaptor Sakura, growing up in Hong Kong they would play the movie on weekend time slots as much as they can. It was set in Hong Kong and it was such a blast to see the cardcaptor crew enjoy the sights and sounds of my hometown! I always wanted Sakura's fight wardrobe, who wouldn't want a friend sewing them costumes?!

Dungeon Meshi!

A friend introduced me to the manga earlier last year and I couldn't put it down! Now that the anime adaptation is out I wanted to do a cute little tribute to this eccentric crew of adventurers!

Missing the sights of Canyonlands National Park! I don't think the way I illustrated can even capture the vast-ness and beauty of this view. It's definitely a less sought out park since its a little more remote but definitely worth it! I can't wait till it gets warm again to venture out into the wilds! :)

Thank you so much everyone that came out to Lightbox Expo two weeks ago! It was so wonderful to meet everyone old and new!

Being a creative can be isolating so being part of events like these gives me a chance to talk to other artists and creative alike face to face! I am so grateful for everyone that stopped by, I really appreciate it!

Cute Travel Bug tote bags have arrived just in time for LightBox Expo! I'm so happy with how it turned out. I wanted to dedicate this tote to all the travellers and wanderers, life's always an adventure. This is a thick canvas tote bag, screen printed perfect for your farmers market shopping!

I thought a little acrylic charm would complete the look as well. I always have a soft spot of little charms, and had a ton of those on my phone back in the day!

A little slice of Hong Kong when I went back to visit in May. I wanted to paint and try out some lighting!

The Royal Guard Swordtember design from my last post actually started out as a gouache painting! I actually wanted to do the whole series in gouache but I think that was more work that I thought it would be. Hence the animated gifs came to life, which was a blessing in disguise cause I really enjoyed doing those!

I did do a base drawing but it actually took me a while to sit down to finish it. I don't know what came over me but that fear was real. I realized all it took was the first brush stroke and if it looked like crap so be it.

Thanks to this piece I wouldn't have started the others in digital and even added a bit of animation to it!

Sword of the Royal Guard - Swordtember 2023 Day 43 prompt

The Royal Heir , she guards one of the floral realms and is a close associate to the royals. Dressed in a couture-like gown, the petals are heavily inspired by the petals of the florals that exist within the castle compound. Not just representing the realm itself but the gown also helps distract opponents and doubles as an armor. For it is difficult to pierce , the petals make it a.lottle more difficult to target vulnerable spots. Don't let her elegance fool you, you would not like to meet the end of that sword.

Sword of the Royal Heir - Swordtember 2023 Day 13 prompt

The Royal Heir , poised and noble as she looks, the heir is trained in her swordsmanship from birth. She is required to helm this remarkable weapon with strength. Unlike a regular sword, the blade's material was crafted with a supernatural material that is only possessed within the bloodline. It's never seen elsewhere and the origins are unknown.

Sword of the Jester - Swordtember 2023

The Jester , after an unfortunate mishap with her performance at court, losing a leg was the least of her worries. Equipped with acrobatics and skillful swordsmanship, she continues to gracefully wield her props to entertain. An additional sword added is a bonus. Going to do a bit of Swordtember this year. I'm probably not going to do all but definitely will have fun with some prompts! Also just wanted to have fun with it and make little animated gifs!
