ATTN City of San Diego residents: the Greenery at Miramar Landfill will compost your trees! You have until January 23rd to drop off at various locations throughout the city limits💚 . . ZW tip: When we were packing ours up for the drop off, my husband couldn’t find a garbage bag to put it in. Instead, he got crafty with an old sheet and some rubber bands! No plastic needed, and we get to save the sheet & rubber bands for later reuse. A solution can be found everywhere if you try hard enough 😼 I just wish we had shared this tip with the other tree owners who left theirs wrapped in plastic. . . Christmas trees are one component of a more natural lifestyle that comes with several challenges. I still buy a real tree because I don’t want an artificial one, as they are mostly made from plastic or other toxic substances. However, the amount of materials, land, and water consumed by these tree farms is wasteful, even if composted. Wild trees are not a viable alternative as they provide shelter for wildlife (and if you’ve ever seen Christmas Vacation you know how badly it can end)... This year I learned about @primrosevale in the UK who created a *potted* Christmas tree *rental* program, which is just brilliant! But, unless this idea is implemented in SD next year, we might just get a rosemary bush instead🌿 And that is one gift that keeps on giving! (at Miramar Landfill)
