THE ENTIRE WEST IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE AND I AM BEGGING YOU TO CALL YOUR SENATORS
Tumblr media
Trump’s budget bill has many, many things in it, but buried amongst it is the MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PUBLIC LAND FOR SALE.
This is the entirety of the Arizona state forests, the entire Cascades mountain range. Swathes of pristine desert around the national parks in Utah. On the doorstep of Jackson Hole.
THIS BILL IS BIG, BUT IT CAN BE AMENDED AND ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT PASS AS IS please.
If you have ever enjoyed the wilderness, we stand to lose it all forever.
CALLING your senators - NOT JUST IN THE WEST. ALL SENATORS, is CRUCIAL.
Outdoor alliance has a great resource for reaching out.
I don’t have a huge following but please, everywhere I have ever loved, the forests I grew up playing in, the land I got married on, is all at risk and I am begging.

why bother caring about the environment when 1. It’s so obviously a lost cause and 2. There’s definitely going to be a nuclear war?
And what are you doing about it Anon? Learn about ecological restoration or get out of my way.

do you think its worth it to try and get fiagnosed for something like POTS? ive been told i have it by my gp but i haven't gone to get diagnosed yet and like. i dunno. sounds like a lot of time and energy and money for them to potentially say "keep doing what you're doing, lots of sodium lots of water."
whoever told you that POTS treatment is just salt and water was lying to you. POTS is extremely treatable, there are dozens if not hundreds of different medications that can make a serious difference for a POTS patient.
POTS is absolutely worth getting diagnosed with. because it has so much treatment. as I mention in my pinned post, the best way to get a doctor willing to do stuff is to look for a local support group for the condition you want to be tested for. and then ask who local patients go to (without mentioning me on support groups please).
I encourage you and everyone else reading this not to spread the bullshit that POTS treatment is only salt and water, or salt and water and exercise. I have autonomic failure, a more life-threatening form of dysautonomia (among others), and even my conditions are still EXTREMELY treatable.
POTS can also be an indicator of underlying conditions that could become life-threatening if left untreated or undiagnosed like autoimmune diseases, mast cell disorders, and connective tissue disorders (patients with connective tissue disorders risk death from many common antibiotics). POTS usually shows up with a few other medical conditions that are also woefully under-recognized and misdiagnosed. POTS can also suddenly get worse and lead to accidents like falls on hard surfaces or fainting or near-fainting behind the wheel of a vehicle. the injuries caused by unmanaged POTS can further disable someone or threaten their life.
if your goal is a decent life or to just feel less awful physically yeah POTS treatment and further evaluation to rule out several other potential comorbid (and also typically treatable) conditions from a decently informed doctor will take you a lot of the way there. but it is really important that everyone is on the same page that the treatment is absolutely not limited to salt and water. there are so many drugs that treat POTS.

I wish people would stop saying “It’s July. Well done for wasting half a year.” Did you make someone smile in the past six months? Did you stroke a cat or throw a stick for a dog? Did you learn a new fact or teach someone a new joke? Did you laugh, cry, scream or sing in the past six months? Because if so, congratulations for not wasting your time at all.

People often balk at hunting or fishing because they get squeamish imagining having to witness the animal's death and processing before they get their ground meat patty but what I really don't understand is a righteous affrontation to foraging. Like taking mushrooms and plants "out of nature." Where it "belongs." Sorry I forgot, we are not biological organisms that evolved and live on this planet; as spiritually enlightened godlike Humans it is our intellectual duty to buy seedless imported watermelons for $7 from the produce section at Walmart #moralsnotmorels

Okay, new cleaning strategy.
Bad at self-discipline, good at acts of love through service. So I'm gonna clean my house pretending it is the house of someone I love who's been too depressed to clean. She's gonna be so surprised.

when i first heard about the male loneliness epidemic i was like oh yeah close camaraderie and bonding between men is often discouraged in favor of competition or, if not discouraged, at least filtered through a lens of individualism that precludes deep connections. and then i learned what people meant by it (men arent getting laid) to which i say skill issue

“They’re trying to convince people they can’t do the things they’ve been doing easily for years – to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies – to write that for you.” We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, “that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won’t know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can’t do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat. People are already doing this. You won’t have to process grief, because you’ll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it’s going to destroy humans, long before there’s a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people.”
Justine Bateman on AI in this article from The Guardian

something i've noticed that has become really annoying in the past 10 years or so is this fad of what i've been calling, for lack of a better word, "structural whataboutism." it's that thing where, when faced with a concrete, resolvable problem in your community, your answer is to blame it on a vast, unsolvable issue of structural inequality and then throw up your hands. "there's trash all over the ground in this corner of the park" becomes "well, that's where MEN OF COLOR congregate after their 12-HOUR GRAVEYARD SHIFTS and i'm not going to support a CARCERAL SOLUTION to a CAPITALISTIC PROBLEM. WE NEED TO ELIMINATE POVERTY AND THE SUBJUGATION OF THE WORKING CLASS" and it's like okay but sis. someone still has to go pick up the trash. we don't need a carceral solution, we need more trash cans. you're not going to eliminate poverty and the subjugation of the working class and even if ya did, there would still be trash on the ground. how any of this passes for radicalism within their peer groups i simply don't understand. it's radical laziness more than anything else
