K-media reports that Taehyung has filmed a promotional video for the 2nd corps training.

V of the group BTS, who is currently serving in the Ssangyong Unit of the 2nd Corps of the Army, showed off the majesty of a dignified soldier in a video.

As a result of News 1 coverage on the 17th, V appeared in a video recently posted on a YouTube channel wearing a military police combat uniform and with people who appeared to be fellow unit members.

In this video, V shows himself undergoing urban combat shooting training. V especially captured the public's attention by showing off his strong eyes while wearing an outfit with a 'military police' patch. In addition, V was admirable as he skillfully handled a firearm and hit the target every time he fired.

Meanwhile, V applied for and was accepted into the Special Task Force (SDT) of the Army Capital Defense Command last year, and in February of this year, he was assigned to the Ssangyong Unit of the 2nd Army Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do and has continued his military service. He is serving as a special member of the Military Police Corps under the direct command of the headquarters.

I think I’m now caught up on the most recent updates. I’m really busy this week but I’ll work on chronologically placing the newest posts in their respective spots in the year-specific pages in the next few days 🙏🏽

On April 7, 2024, Jungkook liked a post on TikTok with the caption, “A story no one would believe if there were no cameras.” This action coincides close to the two-year anniversary of the Taekook back hug at the Bellagio, initially doubted by some fans until further content confirmed it. While speculative, the timing suggests a potential correlation with the Vegas event.

March 24, 2024 -

Jk is active on Tik Tok! He likes quite a few videos, two being directly related to Tae’s newest release FRI(END)S, and the third being a video of Jimin’s “Closer Than This” which has Tae in it at the end!

Jimin’s video is older, having been posted in December 2023. Jk comments, “I'm looking at this now/ I see this now.”

At the end of his dance, Jimin takes the camera and shows Tae to viewers. They are playful for the remainder of the video.

Jungkook’s interview for the @SIRIUSXM K-Pop Superlatives is released. The whole interview is really cute, and makes me miss him terribly. He’s asked a series of “who’s most likely to” among himself and the other members. When asked who’s most likely to break into song, he says it’s “V.”

Interestingly, this was filmed around November 26, 2023. Jungkook was in Japan and Tae flew to London the following day. For me, there is no other way to interpret this. Only the members would be on stage with him, so this has to be about one of the members. And this message can be twofold: an existing distance during the time of the interview (Tae and Jk were both traveling to different countries for work at the time of the interview) and impending military service that was scheduled for the following month (which is currently taking place. Tae knew this would be released during their time in service).

While there isn't anything seemingly poignant going on in the below moment, I found this really domestic. Tae fiddles with a necklace while his body is turned into Jk, who’s snacking, but also has his body turned towards Tae. It’s the subtler moments like this that speak volumes about their closeness. Even during simpler tasks, such as this, there’s a need to be close to the other.

We finally have a BB of Jk’s Inkigayo stage performance! A smiling Tae arrives to support him -

Tae, at first, stands over Jk. Jk knows who’s entered the room, even with his eyes closed. He clearly was expecting Tae, and he “greets” him by asking, “What?” It should be noted, as others have pointed out, that they didn’t greet each other with the standard “Hello” or “How are you?” This is another indicator of how close they are and how much time they spend with each other to skip these formalities. 

There’s then a noticeable cut, with Tae now air-straddling Jk. The subsequent interaction between them is so incredibly domestic! Jk is adorably pouty as he twice asks Tae, in a soft voice, where he’d been.

Tae finishes the second half of his training (first basic, and now the three week, additional training for SDT). Tae will now serve with the 2nd Army Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, where he will continue his military service as a Special Task Force of the Military Police Corps.

January 31, 2024 -

Tae’s final deployment details are released! Remember, Tae applied for SDT and placement is random, with soldiers being assigned to the Ministry of National Defense, Army headquarters, or each division, once the additional three weeks of SDT training are completed. SDT is distributed to not just Seoul, but also each region.

Starting on February 8, 2024, Tae will serve at the 2nd Army Corps of Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. Alternately known as the “Double Dragons,” or “Rok II Corps” or “Ssangyong Unit,” it’s a unit responsible for guarding the challenging military demarcation line. There is a Military Police unit under the direct control of the ROK II Corps, and this includes a Special Duty Team, as well as general military police. This location, nicknamed twin dragons(쌍용), is nestled between twin peaks and is tasked with protecting the Mid-East front, which is one of the roads connecting to Seoul, such as Hwacheon Chuncheon and Yanggu.

I’m not versed in Korean geography and military camps, but a few pages noted that this location is notoriously brutal and difficult to access due to rough mountainous terrain, which is why the unit Tae is assigned to is small. According to these pages, the unit faces tough conditions, including iron fences along the north facing side, numerous stairways for guard duty that are coupled with heavy gears and arms, and there have been reported ankle and knee issues among soldiers deployed here, making it a challenging and less desirable posting. The 2nd Corps, the unit Tae is assigned to, is part of the Ground Operations Command, and has an offensive force tasked with engaging the enemy and protecting the Military Demarcation Line.

Positive notations are that the facilities and food are good, and there is easily accessible transportation since many units are stationed here and the camp is located by Chuncheon City.

The below information says Wooga member and friend Hyungsik also served at this location. However, a friend researched and noted that Hyungsik was in the military police department of the Capital Defense Command as an active duty soldier, which is in Seoul, Seodaemun District (so special forces like Tae but a different posting). Please disregard the small blip from the below SS that says it’s the same unit as Tae’s. They’re in two separate units.

Tae’s hairstylist, Mujin, is interviewed for Harper’s Bazaar Korea. He talks with the magazine about Tae’s beautiful blue hair, noting the process to achieve this ethereal look. He mentions the story and concept of the pictorial were planned in advance, with the male, coming of age, romantic drama “Call Me By Your Name” (CMBYN) being an inspiration.

Mujin: After checking the overall story, design, and concept of the pictorial planned by 'Bazaar' in advance, the mise-en-scène of “Call Me by Your Name.”

Mujin also references the LGBTQ+ movie “Blue is the Warmest Color,” a female coming of age movie similar to CMBYN, and we can discern this because he says “warmest” then ‘blue color’ is placed in quotations, indicating he’s citing material that inspired their pictorial. His exact words are, “The warmest ‘blue color’ with a European sensibility rather than a specially decorated feel.” A Google search of “warmest blue color” will showcase the movie, and protagonist Emma’s blue hair color.

Jungkook and Jimin graduate from basic! Unfortunately, I don’t have any further information than that, and I haven’t seen any videos or pictures besides these two below. I debated on even sharing these photos, but they’re across social media platforms, so I’ll leave them here as a means of archiving this milestone in service. On Tae’s first full day of cellphone use (he’s got an off day before starting SDT on January 18), he updates his IG with his collaboration with Harper’s Bazaar Korea and Celine. Tae and Joon graduate from basic!

Tae and Joon are 2 among only 6 of Nonsan’s Elite Soldiers. From what I’m seeing on social media, Taehyung and Joon would’ve qualified as Elite trainees because they succeeded at the following criteria:

Doing more than 86 sit-ups in 2 minutes

Doing more than 72 pushups in 2 minutes

Ran 1.5 km in under 5 mins and 28 secs

Ran 3km in under 12 mins and 30 secs

Made 16 out of 20 zero point shots

Be present in all training

Another account also noted the following: Being given an elite soldier’s status means both Taehyung and Namjoon excelled in 7 types of training, which includes a 3 km race, shooting, first aid, vigilance, CBR training, and individual combat. Notably, Tae got first place in shooting and sit ups (and was also praised for his personality and leadership skills; see translation below).

A further breakdown of Tae’s impressive stats in his short time in basic, and what to expect next: Taehyung was promoted to a Platoon Leader within 18 days of enlisting. He also became one of the 6 soldiers who obtained Elite status. On January 18, he’ll be deployed to The Army General Administration School to complete his additional advanced SDT training. The training period is from January 18, 2024 - February 8, 2024. Once the three weeks of additional training is completed, he will be deployed to his final camp.

So endlessly proud of him!
