Page 8 of my Miraculous Mentor AU comic A Matter of Trust! In which Plagg doesn't quite get the awestruck reception he was looking for. Adrien got a very sanitized retelling! 🫢

Can we retire telling people (especially children) "i told you so" when they get hurt. It has never helped anybody, and in fact is the part i most vividly remember from all of those instances. Having my pain and distress repeatedly trivialized and ignored in that way was straight up traumatizing.

the one thing i don't understand when people are like,,, against writing abt "problematic" topics is that they'll read a piece and be like "This is problematic, you can't write this, because people will think it's okay"
but like... you read it.... and you were able to infer that it wasn't depicting a good thing..????
why, then, wouldn't other people be able to do that as well? do you think you're uniquely able to spot negative things in art even if they aren't explicitly portrayed as such? do you think that other adult people are incapable of also reading this and recognizing when something is or isn't okay in real life?

Seeing a lot of these posts on (mostly American) TikTok and Insta about women who are all bright and happy about being stay at home moms and being like yes I love my child and that’s why I give up my independence (as if that’s not extremely privileged to afford to do that). There seems to be this mentality amongst them that either you’re a stay at home mom or you’re a full time boss bitch who works hard for capitalism. And really I think these people just need paid maternity leave for a year (mandatory by the gov, not based on your job or company)?
Like wanting to spend time with your newborn child for the first months of their lives (without having to worry about huge financial consequences) is completely reasonable. Lots of parents want to do that. But wanting to work when you have children? Also reasonable. Paid maternity leave which allows you time with your child as well as the safety of knowing you can return to your job/studies afterward to continue your life and career? Yeah.
