I also need to know about the Coconuts that are Not Required

This is one that I’ve had written out in a notebook since this time last year, and I have @lemonlushff to thank for it. We’d been talking about something - I think we might’ve been talking about doing a shipwrecked Making Waves tumblr game on discord, or maybe it was the luau one...

Point is, it sparked an idea with the title Coconuts Not Required, and I’d been on an Are You Being Served? binge at the time, so that plus Hart of Dixie were muses in a way. If you’ve seen either that’s the kind of mood I’m aiming for with this one.

Modern AU. Touga has a string of resorts that he owns. One in particular, the Four Souls (pending name) is....not doing so hot. Touga had left it to Myoga to manage, and well... he’s let so many things slide that it needs work.

Myoga has been skirting around the details and doesn’t tell the entire truth. Think that burning room with the dog meme. Touga finds out and sends Inuyasha - who was just fine doing freelance work thank you very much - out to take control and fix the place.

Inuyasha was happy being a simple handyman. He liked to build. He doesn’t want to deal with all the paperwork of running an upscale resort for both demons and humans. So he’s getting off the plane pissed.

Miroku is going to be his “lieutenant”, bringing him up to speed on the ins and outs of how the resort functions, as well as it’s employees and the current guests.

Kikyo is an indie writer that has been shadowing the resort and its employees, claiming they’re the muse for her next novel. She’s calm but eclectic. Kinda scatterbrained, but harmless.

Koga is the recreational instructor. Holds a variety of lessons through the week; a jack of all trades fitness dude. Shameless flirt. Doesn’t care about gender.

Shippo’s the glorified babysitter/camp counselor to guests’ kids. He’s got his hands full researching new crafts, games, and planning events.

Kagome is the dance instructor. Since it’s an island resort, she’s been primarily teaching hula and belly dance (because Touga is kitschy like that).

Sango is a jilted former fiance and guest at the resort. She got left at the altar before she even got to walk down it. The package deal she got was meant to be a honeymoon, but she couldn’t get a refund so she was able to trade in for a better deal (Miroku’s doing). She’s exceptionally quiet at first and doesn’t handle Miroku’s flirting well.

Inuyasha has kept to himself, which while good for his sanity, has also brought its share of rumors. Is he a playboy? Is he a delinquent? About the only rumor they got right was that he’s got a foul mouth and a temper.

There’s going to be a lot more to the story, but the setup is that Touga is given an ultimatum to get this particular resort turned around. And because he can’t be bothered since he’s expanding elsewhere, he pawns his youngest off to do it for him. From there it’s going to be a story that doesn’t have an outlandish plot, and (hopefully) will pass as a relaxing read.

In which I spent 2 hours compiling my favorite quotes from the books “Letters of Note” - a collection of letters sent from famous, regular, and famous-but-only-in-select-groups people. This is mostly just so I have a place where they’re saved but also because this blog is basically “stuff i like” so. yes. anyway. if you like old things and are interested in people you’ll probably like this.

White in response to Mr Nadeau’s letter about the future seaming bleak and hopeless to him (1973). pretty standard stuff really but in context it is better

I really like cereal! My favorites are the super awful for you ones, like Reece’s Puffs and Fruity Pebbles. Mmmmm. Now I want cereal. I’m just really bad at eating breakfast most of the time so when I do have cereal it usually ends up being more of a late-night snack sort of thing than a breakfast.

MAN THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THIS BOX FOR ALL THE NICE THINGS I WANT TO SAY ABOUT @spectrcm. Seriously everyone, this girl is THE BEST, and I’m not just saying that because I live with her and she could kill me in my sleep if I badmouthed her. *cough* NO BUT SERIOUSLY.

Every character she tries her hand at is FREAKING FLAWLESS. Her voice and writing style is just so wonderful and immersive from thing to thing, each character has their own writing/word quirks and it’s so great to read. Plus, she’s SUPER NICE and genuinely cares about the people she’s RPing with and interacting with, and just wants to be friends with everyone (which is an impossible goal but SHE SURE DOES TRY).

PLUS I get the added bonus of knowing her IRL after we met online and LET ME TELL YOU FRIENDS, that online personality of kindness and caring carries right on over! This girl is so full of heart. SO MUCH HEART. SHE PROBABLY HAS LIKE 20 HEARTS THAT IS HOW MUCH HEART SHE HAS. Okay I think I got my point across.

And yes. Showering @spectrcm with all of the compliments because I love her and she’s wonderful and if you’re not following her you definitely should be! a+++ 20/10 would recommend. (ALSO I AM SO UPSET YOU POSTED THE ONE ABOUT ME LIKE, TWO MINUTES BEFORE I’M POSTING THIS I WANTED TO BEAT YOU GDI)

Okay so, you were one of the first people who followed me on this blog, which is exciting because honestly I wasn’t sure I would get any followers because I have no idea what I’m doing here besides drowning in muses tbh. But you were wonderful about dragging plots out of me when I mostly sat here and went “IDK I WANNA DO ALL THE THINGS” and very nice about all my ‘WHAT IF I’M TERRIBLE AT TUMBLR RP’ worries.

I also love that we have so many things to get around to writing because you’re just as eager to do ALL OF THE THINGS as I am. Plus, your OCs are all wonderful and fun to write with!! (or at the very least plot with, for the ones we haven’t started yet).

G: Ghosts, are they real? - I like to think so, yes! Maybe not in the ‘look at that shadow in the corner!’ way they are in books and movies, but in the sense that the soul or spirit of a person can stay around after death, can exist alongside us even if we can’t see them. I have no proof one way or the other, no real personal experiences, but I really like to believe it’s a real thing! I: Ever been in love? - ALRIGHT SO I AM BAD AT EMOTIONS SO THIS IS GONNA BE A STRUGGLE. Okay, so here’s a thing with me. I’ve definitely loved people. One I dated for a while, one I did not, neither of whom I’m as close to now as I was before, sadly. I cared about them each more than I cared about myself (which wasn’t hard at the time, but still). But recently-ish I’ve realized that in a romantic sense, I am almost positively under the Asexual/Aromantic category (something I previously wrote off as just ‘not caring enough about relationships’ before realizing it was probably a bit deeper than just that after a point, y’know? I just never had a name for it before!). So I wouldn’t say I was ever in love with them, not in the proper romantic sense this is asking about probably, even though I felt love for them. IF THAT MAKES LITERALLY ANY SENSE? It was like the most in love it’s possible for me to be ‘in love’ with someone, so that totally counts right? idk i’m a mess what are emotions WHAT IS LOVE?S: Song last sung? - Bleeding a Stone off of ‘Every Sick Disgusting Thought We’ve Got In Our Brains’ by The Venetia Fair. It’s the CD in my car right now and I was out shopping earlier and had it on! I LOVE THIS BAND. They broke up over a year ago and it broke my heart. I saw them live once and they put on an amazing show. This whole album is golden. T: Time you woke up? - I SLEPT IN SO MUCH TODAY. I set a nice early alarm to go be productive and instead i hit the snooze button and then turned it off entirely and slept until like 10:00 am OOPS.
