ah yes, hello edge lord. it is lovely to see you again. you my dear, are the incarnation of duality, and you might think of claws and venom mixed with grace but alas, nothing near as poetic. you my friend, are mixture of what is seen as right, and what is questioned.   you follow the path of your own two feet,   you know the twists and turns of life's forests quite well if I do say so myself. and you can meander along them wonderfully. you strive to stay true to a certain sense of principles you might call your code, but whereas in reality, those would be your morals. people tend to see you as strange. sharp edged and glinting you hide behind a cloak of chain mail but really you just prefer to show off your imperfections first. unlike many who scramble to make it as if their flaws never existed, you proudly raise yours up. saying,    "this is me, this is the worst of me, now you know what to expect."   and might I say, it is quite an intriguing mindset, for truth be told, the ones that love your spikes and craters are the ones who appreciate your softness the most. you wish not to be loved as something lovable, but as a monster. for aren't we all just beasts in human skin? you are brave, but you are lonely. you know quite well how to scare off most, making even the heroes with the boldest bravado creep away with their tails between their legs. you are not a villian, sometimes you play the part a bit too well. but nevertheless you are no hero either. you put yourself first, but if one wins your trust then may the gods have mercy on those who might wrong them. you long to be a poetic mess of sorts, and well, if the ink sets in long enough you might just become that sooner or later. but for one who is so dead set on truth you sure do hide a lot don't you? please, step out of the shadows, there is a difference to not making your flaws visible and to simply acting as if you're the most despicable person in all the realms. it's because you're afraid of attachment is it not? well let me tell you a little secret, everyone is. you say you wish to be left alone for eternity but than why are you craving connection.   you wish to be known and understood truly,   but you snarl and push the ones that might be trying away. please little wolf, accept you are lovable. you are not some ravenous beast that terrifies the multitudes, sure, you are not for the faint of heart but that does not make you an inkling less perfect as you are. young antihero, step into the sun. you would do better actually reaching for the things you want rather than pining for them in the darkness.

/  Not related to anything but !! I wanted to point out just how cool Ookurikara’s sword actually looks like, and how the dragon tattoo he has on his arm reflects the carving the actual sword has (from which his name ‘Ookurikara’ comes from) which is the kurikara dragon, which is one of the manifestations of Fudō Myō-ō, a legendary Japanese deity that is often depicted as a dragon coiled around a flaming sword eating its tip. 

Now the reason as of why Hiromitsu (his swordsmith) made this kurikara dragon carving on the blade seems to be unknown? or at least I wasn’t able to find any information in regards as to why he did it on this specific sword nor if it was a common thing he did on other swords he forged ?? in any case it could simply be the result of Fudō Myō-ō being a pretty important and revered deity by practitioners of buddhism in Japan but again, I couldn’t really find any actual information as of the reasons behind the carving. Now back to Ookurikara, I find it curious too that despite this clear bond between the sword and the deity, his character kind of doesn’t really match what Fudō Myō-ō is said to do; which is protect the faithful, convert stubborn people to accept the Buddha’s teachings, or how the sword that Fudō Myō-ō carries cuts through deluded and ignorant minds and through illusions, or how the ropes he carries bind those who are ruled by their passions and emotions- none of these seem to be mentioned by Ookurikara (and if anything, he is the stubborn person who is also not interested in protecting anyone either AOIUTROTH) tho I can sort of see how this ends up taking shape after he undergoes through his kiwame training and how his old stubborns beliefs of doing everything by himself slowly grow to change as he undergoes through his own personal development and he eventually realizes the importance of accepting other’s helps (and allowing himself to do so) and how this can actually contribute to growing stronger. According to what I read, I guess (?) you can sort of tie it to the idea that with the assistance of the deity, one can grow to attain union with the universe and become a benefit to mankind- which by understanding himself and becoming stronger he becomes an important card that will help the saniwa keep history in place

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒 / 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒

❀   𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐈 ; It is incredibly difficult for someone to push or lift Heshikiri around; be it someone trying to push him around or strong winds doing their thing, chances are that it will all be fruitless. This is a reference to his actual sword and the story behind his name as “Heshikiri” translates to “pressure slash” (Hasebe is the name of the swordsmith who made him). The story follows that Nobunaga could not forgive the mistake of his tea servant and was so enraged that he tried to execute him. Following by, this servant tried to hide in a cupboard but Nobunaga cut through the wood and killed him by simply letting the weight of the blade fall down, hence heshi’s name. Putting the story to the side, the downside of this is that if he happens to trip over, the impact is bigger and thus he’ll probably end up with a bruise

❀  𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐔 ; Since ishikirimaru is so tall when someone talks to him he tends to lean down a little !

❀  𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐔 ; On the same note, everyday Ishikirimaru without fault (unless on an expedition) will sprinkle water at the entrance of the citadel both in the morning and evening as a cleansing ritual. If this takes place in a diff verse, he’ll do the same but at the entrance of his saniwa’s home or room. The purpose of this? it serves as to purify sins and uncleanliness alongside with bad luck (amongst others). Another thing is that Ishikirimaru always carries a small pouch with salt for cleansing purposes as well.

❀  𝐊𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐍 ; Kasen is knowledgeable in many areas ! aside poetry and tea ceremonies, he knows about growing flowers and plants and taking care of them (which is something we saw in hanamaru) To add to this, he is cultured in the design of landscapes !

❀  𝐌𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐙𝐔𝐊𝐈 ; It is already a known fact in game that Jiji possesses powers related to the moon, just like how he was able to literally become part of the moon for some time during an event in the game; to add to this, I like to think that just like how Gawain benefits from the sun, Jiji benefits from the moon; so if he’s used at night, his powers increase due to this relation he has with the moon

❀  𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐀 ; During his kiwame’s awakened form, we can notice a dragon appearing around Ookurikara, which I like to think that Ookurikara’s dragon tattoo on his arm is not merely an illusion but can actually manifest as an actual dragon as the personification of Fudō Myō-ō, though this is something that he can’t easily control pre-kiwame as he hasn’t yet understood his nature

❀  𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐔 &  𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐊𝐔𝐃𝐀𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐈 ; (Due to their stats) Ishikirimaru and Shokudaikiri are not the fastest runners and if the team is lacking horses, they are usually the ones that tend to receive them before anyone else

❀  𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐊𝐔𝐃𝐀𝐈𝐊𝐈𝐑𝐈 ; Under Shokudaikiri’s eyepatch, he does actually have an eye ! he can’t see well with his left eye and although the circumstances that have affected it (which u will have to find out) are different from the ones that took Masamune’s own due to smallpox, it coincidentally happens to mirror Masamune's own missing eye except on Shoku’s case its his left and not right one like his previous owner

❀  𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐄 ; Despite his former master’s reputation, Nagasone’s character is pretty laid back and friendly. Fighting is entirely reserved for training and real threats only, and despite the fact that sometimes he headbutts with Mutsunokami, he naturally does not possess a violent nature and would never raise his sword against allies or friends. Unlike many swords that tend to share traits their former masters possessed, Nagasone has his own different traits which are a result of his nature as a counterfeit that decided to forge his own story upon acquiring a spirit
