I am saying this while making eye contact with the same singin in the rain poster I've had on my bedroom wall since the age of 2, but fact is that the film singin in the rain is, structurally, completely baffling. who spends the first 12 minutes of their movie doing a frame story musical montage, no context, of an entire OTHER movie worth of story. and then they do that like 3 more times
