Magne Furuholmen, claviériste et co-compositeur du groupe A-ha, a réagit à une vidéo postée par le président américain Donald Trump, qui a été immédiatement comparée par les internautes, au clip du tube « Take on Me »

Il n’a pas fallu longtemps à la Twittosphère pour s’enflammer  : lorsque le président américain Donald Trump a re-posté une vidéo via son compte officiel, ressemblant trop étrangement à une publicité de campagne présidentielle, les internautes ont vite fait le rapprochement avec le fameux clip du titre « Take on Me », du groupe A-ha, sorti en 1985. La vidéo du hit du groupe norvégien réalisée par le célèbre vidéaste britannique Steve Barron, est devenue célèbre de part son utilisation de la rotoscopie, une technique de traçage de séquences d’action en direct image par image avec des dessins au crayon qui forment une animation. La chaine MTV a été rapidement séduite par le style visuel unique du clip et l’a mis en forte rotation, contribuant ainsi àla notoriété internationale de A-ha en flèche et faisant de « Take on Me » l’une des vidéos les plus iconiques de l’ère MTV.

En raison du décalage horaire en Norvège, c’est en se réveillant, que le musicien Magne Furuholmen a découvert le clip devenu alors viral. Quand Rolling Stone USA lui a demandé ce qu’il pensait de la vidéo de Trump, il a répondu avec une pointe d’humour :

« Même les cochons aveugles peuvent trouver des truffes ».

« Nous faisons notre musique pour tout le monde. Nous n’avions pas l’intention de faire de notre musique un élément d’une campagne qui divise et, toutes choses égales par ailleurs, nous aurions préféré qu’elle ne le soit pas. Vous écrivez une chanson dans votre jeunesse et vous n’écrivez pas pour un groupe particulier de personnes d’une façon ou d’une autre ; vous l’écrivez pour tout le monde. Mais c’est alors que ce genre de choses se produisent », a confié Magne Furuholmen.

Dès que l’on touche au Président Trump, les réseaux sociaux s’enflamment entre amusement et polémique. Il y a ceux qui détournent les paroles de la chanson en faisant référence à la tentative de procédure d’impeachment en cours (« Il sera parti dans un jour ou deux », ceux qui critiquent le président pour avoir été trop loin dans la copie du clip (« Trump va encore plus loin que l’on ne le pensait »)  ou encore les pro-Trump qui s’insurgent à la fois contre le site Rolling Stone USA et la tentative de récupération politique de ce buzz.

Le dernier mot revient au musicien de A-ha :  « Nous sommes nés en Norvège, mais nous avons des amis dans le monde entier et nous sommes préoccupés par l’avenir du monde », dit-il. « À bien des égards, notre cœur saigne pour l’image de l’Amérique avec laquelle nous avons grandi. Mais quand on est entraîné dans ce genre de choses, il faut prendre du recul et en rire », dit-il en ajoutant qu’une chanson de protestation qu’il a publiée le mois dernier, « This is Now America« , premier extrait de son nouvel album solo à paraître, était une réponse directe au président orange. En effet, il vaut mieux en rire !

Magne Furuholmen et ses acolytes Morten Harket et Pal Waaktaar-Savoy seront en concert à la Scène Musicale le 9 novembre prochain, une tournée qui célèbrera leur premier album Hunting High and Low.
