"oh, c'mon parisa..." he scoffed, not even resisting the urge to roll his eyes. "you're hot, but you're not god's gift to mankind." since finding success only a few years ago, somehow managing to translate tiktok views into spotify streams and ticket sales, river had never been without an abundance beautiful women willing to throw themselves at him. if he dropped parisa, or if she for some reason decided she'd grown bored of him, he could replace her in a second, but who else would go through the trouble of trying to sabotage his other prospects like this? who else would care that much? and, though she tried to pretend otherwise, river knew she cared. she wouldn't have gone through all this trouble if she didn't, a thought as endearing as it was frustrating. "because! you're the one causing problems! it's great that you came all this way, but i didn't ask you to... i'm on tour, obviously i'm gonna be too busy to give you the attention you want." despite being a bit irritated by her surprise appearance, he let out a groan once she began acting as though she was ready to pack up and leave, rubbing his hands over his face to try and soothe the migraine that was no doubt on its way. "but you're not! there is no baby, you're not pregnant!" he paused then to look at her, really look at her. "are you?"
Tumblr media
"competition?" well, now she's just offended. "be so for real, river. do you think i have competition?" as if. parisa was a good damn blessing onto every place and life she entered — and here he was, foolishly squandering what little interest she had in him. did she actually desire commitment? no. what a disgusting thought. the last thing parisa would ever do is give the entirety of herself to anyone, let alone a musician. that didn't mean he was supposed to be willingly spending his time with someone else. "i don't understand how you're trying to pin this on me right now. i flew out here," for free. courtesy of daddy's jet. "to surprise you and you're too busy spending your evening fucking whatever fresh out of puberty, floozy fan of yours wore a skimpy enough outfit and battered her fuck-me lashes, to even give me the time of day." she finally rises, practically stomping across the room to fling open the wardrobe doors, gathering an armful of clothes and tossing them onto the sheets in a dramatic show that said she was going to depart — but not before a wicked smile shifts her pouty features, that gaze seeming to finally properly lock onto him. "do you think she'll cry when she hears the news? that it's my womb growing a little baby river and not hers?"

"reina realized the sound in her head, the scream, was her own. Anger or anguish, misery or mourning, all of the above. She felt the softness of earth beneath her hands and realized she was kneeling prostrate, channeling her pain into the sympathy of sodden ground. She felt something lashing gently over her forearms, slithering out from her pals. Like vines; like threads of consequence." and/or "Yes, Callum thought, I understand it now, Tristan, the meaning of life, it all makes sense. We are given exactly as much time as we need to be a human as we are, and that's it. That's the entirety of the magic. We're not gods, or maybe you are, or Reina is, but I'm not a god, Tristan, I'm just very sad and stupid! I have been looking for inspiration and it turns out I'm not inspired, I'm lazy! I only want to hold your hand! I don't wan't to rule the world, I don't want to control it, I don't even want to influrence it. I want to sit beside you in a little garden, I want to put your needs before mine, I want to laugh at your jokes, even the bad ones, and bury my head in proverbial sands." and/or “This was it, the chronic condition—the only meaning Parisa had left in life. It wasn’t a secret society, it wasn’t an ancient library, it wasn’t an experiment that had taken two decades to design, it was waking up every fucking morning and deciding to keep going. The tiny, unceremonious, incomparable miracle of making it through another goddamn day. The knowledge that life was mean and it was exacting. It was cruel and it was cursed; it was recalcitrant and precious. It was always ending. But it did not have to be earned.”
second piece from my review of @olivieblake 's the atlas series. I love these characters so deeply, and these three in particular, in their twisted discoveries of their personnal philosophies, and what ever can let them survive, was inspiring to read, and meant a lot to me. all three piece's speedpaints are up on my youtube channel!:)

The Mini Interview with Parisa Akhbari
Tumblr media
by Liz von Klemperer
Parisa Akhbari’s debut young adult novel Just Another Epic Love Poem (Dial Books, 2024) captures the complexity of queer, sapphic friendships that teeter into something more. The never-ending poem co-written by the protagonists is woven throughout the narrative, along text threads. This structure mimics the unique intimacy of adolescence, in which conversations morph and evolve from school to home to sleepovers and back again. Akhbari’s work as a teen therapist shines through, as she deftly delves into the complexities of navigating first relationships and the inevitability of leaving home.
I was excited to speak with Parisa Akhbari via Zoom about how her favorite poets made their way into the pages of her first novel, and about how she wrote the kind of book she wanted to read as a teen.
***
The Rumpus: How did you start writing this? What were the initial seeds of the idea?
Parisa Akhbari: In my day job I work with teens as a therapist, and that means I’m often immersed in the big emotions of adolescence. Over the past few years, as I sat with young people facing experiences of racism and homophobia and isolation, and also witnessed their rights being taken away on a national level, I started to feel that the adult generation had failed young people. I felt this sense of powerlessness about what I had to offer, when young people are up against so much. It made me reflect on what I wanted from the adults around me when I was seventeen or eighteen. And what I wanted was to believe that change was possible: that the circumstances of my life could transform. It would have meant a lot to imagine that someone like me could live a happy, fulfilling life, despite the complexities of their existence or despite the hardships they’re going through. Those are the kinds of mirrors, the kinds of stories I wish I’d had growing up. I wish I’d seen representations of queer, Iranian American or mixed race young people, living lives that are meaningful, complicated, fulfilling. Lives in which they are deeply loved and connected to others. A desire for that kind of story propelled me to write young adult literature.
For Just Another Epic Love Poem in particular, I thought back on the way my best friends and I communicated in high school. We used every channel available to us: texting, talking on the phone for hours, writing notes back and forth in class, leaving letters in each other’s lockers. We found all these ways to connect. It was one nonstop conversation that continually evolved. When you know someone that well, your voices also start to resonate with each other as you pick up each other’s cadences and idiosyncrasies. I wanted to bring that sense of never-ending connection to a story. The two main characters in JAELP, Mitra and Bea, not only share their queer identity and their experience of Catholic school, but they also have this secret poetic language through which they voice their thoughts. Their never-ending poem becomes a framework through which they can express themselves in a way that they can’t anywhere else.
Rumpus: This is a love story—what’s your relationship to love stories, and what motivated you to write a love story?
Akhbari: When I was a teen, I mostly read love stories, but I didn’t see queerness or POC characters represented in those stories. I read a lot of Sarah Dessen books, which I enjoyed, but they centered white and heterosexual characters. In much of the YA I had access to at the time, the protagonist’s focus was a relationship with a guy. Although I wasn’t out in high school, my closest relationships were with other girls. My best friends were girls, and even though I dated guys, I had crushes on girls, and felt the most emotional intimacy—and confusion!—in my relationships with girls. I didn’t see that dynamic explored in literature or on TV. Once I came out, I grappled with some of the nuances of being in queer friendships and relationships. The line between friendship and romance was much blurrier. Sometimes I’d have a relationship with someone, and we would move back and forth across that line. In writing YA, I wanted to explore what transforms in the space between two best friends as they navigate that line together. I think it’s a uniquely queer experience that a lot of folks in the LGBTQ community can relate to. There’s something wonderful and complicated about the fluidity of how you define who you are to one another.
Rumpus: Yes, it really speaks to a specific kind of queer culture. The transition from friendship to relationship and losing your friend in an attempt to build a new romantic relationship.
Akhbari: In the beginning of the novel, Mitra is focused on what she can gain from becoming romantically involved with Bea. She’s thinking about how amazing it would be to finally get to love her best friend in that way. And then she’s confronted with the reality that change and loss are inherent in that shift. Mitra and Bea lose the ability to say “I love you” in the way they did before. They lose some of the easy comfort they shared, because suddenly their interactions become heated and heightened. Mitra has to navigate all these new questions: Can we touch like we did before? Can we talk in the way we used to? It presents a lot of challenges for her.
Rumpus: The format of your book mimics that never-ending, multimedia back and forth. I also love the amount of poetry you include. How did that structure evolve?
Akhbari: Originally, I started writing the book in a traditional structure that alternated prose with snippets of the never-ending poem that they trade back and forth. But I found that structure boxed me in. I was already trying to break out of a typical novel format through the never-ending poem, and it felt constraining to limit myself only to prose for the rest of the story. To shake things up, my editor suggested I think about what’s at the heart of each beat in the story, and then consider the best format in which to tell that beat. It may be that the emotional core of the moment is best expressed in a text message, or a list, or a poem that the main character, Mitra, writes for a school assignment.
For example, in writing about Mitra’s reconnection with her estranged mother, the heart of that moment is Mitra’s response to seeing her mom for the first time in years. She has this moment of acknowledging all the little differences in the way her mom looks, and how she’s both unfamiliar and familiar at the same time. The moment trips Mitra’s memories in a visceral way. Although I could try to capture that moment in prose, I felt poetry would tap into an emotional depth for Mitra that she couldn’t directly face in the prose of her inner monologue. Poetry and art can give people a lens through which to look at the hardest things in their lives. They can examine their monsters through metaphors, poetry, and art in a way they can’t confront directly.
Rumpus: Speaking of poetry, you reference so many poets in this book because your protagonists love poetry. What is your relationship with some of these poets? How did you choose them?
Akhbari: Growing up, I thought poetry was stuffy, old-timey, and inaccessible. The poets I learned about in school were often dead, straight, white guys. They weren’t people I could relate to. It felt like they lived on some other untouchable level. Once I realized that other poets existed who spoke to me and to my experience, and whose art was just as valid, then I felt like I had my way in. That opened the door to poetry for me.
One of those poets was Hafez, whom Mitra calls upon throughout the story. In Iranian culture, Hafez isn’t just a revered poet; he’s a spiritual channel. In the way that a lot of Westerners look to astrology or tarot, Hafez is the guy you go to when you’re like, “What do I do about this situation? Or, What’s ahead for me?” My bibi jaan taught me to ask a question and find an answer in the pages of Hafez’s Divān. The challenge is how to interpret his words. That was fun to play with throughout Just Another Epic Love Poem because Mitra doesn’t have the assistance of her mom anymore to help her interpret. She has to figure out the answers to her big existential questions by herself.
Naomi Shihab Nye’s poem, “Kindness,” became an anchor for me early on in writing this book. She’s one of my favorite poets, in part because I connect to her writing about the Middle East, and also because I find her poetry to be grounded in the senses in a very accessible way. She’s a renowned writer of both adult and children’s poetry. People can disconnect from poetry when they find it too abstract, or unrelatable, or not reflective of their lives. But everything I’ve read of Naomi Shihab Nye’s feels like something that a teen could understand on a gut level, even if they don’t know all of the “rules” of poetic structure.
Rumpus: Is there a part of this book that feels pressing to articulate that I’ve missed?
Akhbari: One of my hopes for readers is that they can see poetry as accessible and relevant to their lives. We absorb a lot of cultural messages about who gets to be a poet, and what poetry looks like. I hope readers who have been pushed to the margins find that poetry is a powerful and concise tool for self-expression. In the same way that people have been reshaping and expanding queerness to create a space for themselves, you can also dismantle the rules and assumptions about poetry and reinvent it to fit your world. You can make it spacious enough to express your experience.

GALERIE SCENE OUVERTE ANNOUNCES ITS PARTICIPATION AT THE SECOND EDITION OF DESIGN MIAMI PARIS
Galerie SCENE OUVERTE is pleased to announce its participation in the second edition of Design Miami/Paris, taking place from October 15 - 20, 2024, at the historic L'Hôtel de Maisons, located at 51 rue de l'Université. Dedicated to showcasing visionary creators who redefine the boundaries of artisanal innovation, the gallery will exhibit works by 14 international artists and designers. Presenting bold explorations of materiality and form, each work embodies a multisensory experience that merges aesthetic sophistication with masterful craftsmanship. The presentation will feature an eclectic array of seating, tables, mirrors, vases, and decorative objects that transcend the ordinary through a transformative approach to materials. From wood, ceramic, and glass to sandstone, marble, clay, and silk, the selection represents a fluid interaction between innovation and tradition, unveiling new dimensions of material potential. Inspired by organic forms and the comforting embrace of home, Parisa Bazargani's Cuddle chair embodies the seamless fusion of form and function. Through meticulous upholstery and savoir-faire, the chair transforms into an inviting design that harmonizes elegance and comfort. In a celebration of nature’s delicate intricacies, Célia Bertrand’s light fixture, Flore, marries porcelain craftsmanship with an ethereal quality, as seen in part at the newly opened restaurant L’Abysse in Monte-Carlo, designed by the founder of Galerie SCENE OUVERTE Laurence Bonnel. At the heart of the exhibition lies a profound exploration of poetic forms, exemplified by Belgian design duo KRJST Studio. Their Wait for Her chair reflects a deep engagement with textile art, weaving together landscapes of imagination through complex threads. This piece, rooted in a dialogue between classical and contemporary influences, merges traditional weaving with advanced technologies to produce a new interpretation of tapestry.
In contrast, Don Cameron’s Oblique Coffee Table, crafted from black Spanish clay, draws inspiration from architectural theory, echoing Claude Parent’s influential oblique function, embracing sloped forms and unconventional angles. Hervé Langlais’ Carpatre III, a marble masterpiece, similarly engages architectural discourse, paying homage to the artistic legacies of Brancusi, Eduardo Chillida, and Carlo Scarpa.
Presented as Design at Large/, Studio BISKT will unveil Bench #1, bridging industrial processes and artisanal mastery. Crafted from enameled sandstone with a steel structure, the piece dissolves boundaries between art and design, embodying the studio's philosophy of pushing functional and aesthetic limits. Their series of vases, rendered in the same material, will be showcased alongside the bench, further exemplifying their innovative approach. This presentation also inaugurates the new addition of Studio BISKT the Young Scene Ouverte gallery program – a dedicated section of the gallery supporting young, promising artists and designers in their artistic development and creative vision.
The presentation will also highlight the talents of Silver Sentimenti, Alissa Volchkova, and Rinke Joosten, whose vibrant blown-glass vessels will be displayed alongside minimalist ceramic sculptures by Rino Claessens and Francisco Aniorte’s exquisitely crafted table series.
Coinciding with Design Miami Paris, Galerie Scene Ouverte will inaugurate its new exhibition space in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés with the solo show ‘Prométhée’ by prolific architecture and design studio RoWin’Atelier.

"it's a little weird, don't you think? a little...stalker-ish?" putting the full weight of his fascination upon him. did it matter that she'd been tempting fate? that she'd given him such pointed glances and hiked her dresses up a little too high when walking past? that she'd sent such an explicit image? wasn't he an adult with the capability to walk away if he didn't want her this? "i assure you i've already dealt with enough of those in my life. — and while you may be marginally better looking than some of the others, it doesn't make the whole thing any less sad." as if the femme didn't love every second of being someone's obsession. her father's excessive protection leaving her clueless on just how big a threat she truly posed to herself. "well i'm sure we could go ask her. she's certainly looking for you, about now, is she not? i'd love to get her opinion on my raw photography skills." she's tempting fate and she knows it; already cruelly playing with a woman's husband — did she really need to play with her emotions as well? it's like she can't help herself. parisa had always been given everything she wanted. it was never enough. it left her more desperately yearning for the things she couldn't shouldn't have. "don't flatter yourself, conrad. you're a cycling news story. nothing more. your name comes and goes as often as carolyn's boy-toys." a statement that, based on the crinkling of her usually composed expression, might be the most honest thing she's said to him that evening. "think so low of you?" she steps closer, those heels echoing off the bathroom tile. "i don't think much of you at all, conrad." though it was clear she had thought of him, had thought enough to snap and send that scandalous image. "but if i'm so clueless...please enlighten me. tell me why a married man with a beautiful wife is so willing to give me that attention i like so much." she draws near enough to close the space between them, allows the swell of her breasts to graze against his chest, long lashes batting up at him with feigned innocence. "what is it you think i don't know?"

who: @parisadavani when: casino night, mid to later in the night where: coming out of the bathrooms
As Mari rounded the corner out of the bathroom - another trip that evening, the only way she could figure out a way to excuse herself (though if she had any balls, she’d just leave) - she crashed directly into someone, not having expected anyone to be traversing to this bathroom. It was the furthest from the ballroom that had been transformed into a casino for the night, quieter and privater and...well, Mari would’ve said good for drugs, if not other things, if it hadn’t been Parisa she crashed into, sending her small clutch to the ground, its contents spilling to the floor. “Shit,” Mari said, lowering to her knees - really, more of a crash, her muscles and balance giving out about halfway to the floor - to gather up her belongings, scrambling for them so Parisa wouldn’t notice the contents of her purse, most of which weren’t legal.

in another life, maybe he’d be able to stay away from parisa. but even then, dalton knew deep down that he wouldn’t. she’d somehow wormed her way into his mind, and he couldn’t get her out. though, in some sense, he knew that he’d also crafted a corner of his mind for her, a place where thoughts of her roamed free. he’d tried to keep her away, tried to enforce whatever boundaries he could and yet no matter how many times that he tried, he failed miserably at it.  “it’s late, you should be asleep.”  and yet, here he was, his head buried in a book. his hair was mussed, and judging by the slight tiredness he felt in his eyes, he wouldn’t be surprised if his eyes were slightly bloodshot.  “come here to attempt to glean more information from me again?”   /   @endlessfables (parisa)

A little bomb called Sienna
Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Becca Lao) x Bryce Lahela Rating: Teen+ Warnings: mentions of depression Tropes: Bryce- Friends with Benefits, Go on a Date
Summary: Sienna tries to have a serious conversation with Becca before her first date with Bryce.
________________
It didn’t take long before she started spending more time with Bryce outside the comforts of his apartment walls. They weren’t necessarily hiding their relationship, they just didn’t know what to call it. They were casual. They were friends. Friends who had intimate benefits. It wasn’t a secret, but also no one bothered to ask about their title. Bryce hated labels anyway, they didn’t fit with his go-with-the-flow demeanor.
They’ve played footsies in the cafeteria, kissed for hours in the grass in the park, shared plates at Alessandro’s, and intertwined their hands at the coffee shops by the hospital.
“You and Bryce are getting serious,” Sienna acknowledged from her place sprawled out on Becca’s bed as the latter got ready.
“Don’t worry, Sie, it’s casual,” she tried to placate, paying more attention to the finer details of her make up than the serious conversation her best friend was trying to initiate. “We won’t break up the friend group.”
“I’m not worried about that - well not that much. Its… are you okay?”
“Peachy, why?”
“You haven’t spent a night alone in weeks. Not since Dr. - He disappeared. I just... don’t want you to self combust.” Sienna was sitting up now, worrying the threads of Becca’s duvet between her fingertips.
“And spending time with Bryce has made me a ticking time bomb?”
“No. Distancing yourself from your friends and emotions is turning you into a bomb.”
“Sienna, I’m fine.” Becca brushes off the concern, zipping up the back of a little black dress. “What do you think of this outfit?”
“You look amazing like always.”
“Not too slutty? I’m going for slightly sexy. Not too revealing but also not harlequin.”
Sienna pointed to the closet poorly hiding a sad little smile, “Add your cape jacket and you’re good.”
“Thanks. We’re trying this new upscale gastropub downtown, The Masquerade Nigh. It’s our first real date.”
The smile on Becca’s face was just wide enough for Sienna to shelve her concerns for the time being. She smiled back, “You two spend all your time together, nothing to worry about.”
“I know, I know. I just want it to go well.”
“How well?” Sienna wiggled her brows.
“We’re not having sex yet.”
“No?”
“We’re taking things slow,” Becca then shrugs, “We sleep together but nothing biblical.”
Not too long later, Bryce is at her door with stars in his eyes.
“Man if I’m not the luckiest guy alive.” His eyes never straying from her and his jaw all but on the floor.
“You’ll do what?”
“Becks, Becks, Becks. I am the luckiest man alive.”
They had a lovely dinner together.

Colin’s notes and interpretation
After collaborating twice with SUGA, IU choose V to star with her in the MV for her song “Love wins all”.
More details about the concept were shared in an interview with the MV director (Eng translation, original article). V’s character is partially blind, IU’s character can’t talk, the camcorder shows the filter of love, and the square symbolises discrimination.
IU’s custom wedding dress was designed in the Korean haute couture house Dénicheur (Instagram post), props were provided by The Prop (Instagram post), and they filmed at Freya, an abandoned beach resort in Yangyang (rental website, with pictures).

CLOSED STARTER for @parisadavani LOCATION: Somewhere on campus
Kit wasn’t too active on the campus group chat. Hardly actually. Even less this year since Greer’s been missing. That didn’t mean he didn’t check it though. He usually read through what people had to say when he was on this way back from the gym, like right now. Freshly showered with his bag slung of a shoulder, his thumb moved slowly along the screen to review what he missed. Something about bootlickers and... breakfast? A lot of conversations tended to happen at once in this online space. It wasn’t unusual for Kit to feel lost as he read through it. But then he saw his name, and things took a turn from there. It begun with plans for a cooking contest and apparently ended with... Oran and Parisa breaking up? Jesus. Over hanging out him? What a massive tool. A steaming pile of shit had more appeal than that guy. He exited out of the campus group chat and pulled up his text thread with Parisa, typing out a quick message to her as he made his way across the quad.
hey, i just caught up on the campus group chat. you ok?

daddy's little girl had truly done it now. her father had warned her about her nasty proclivity for running away, that his over protection was for good reason and that she was going to get herself hurt or into trouble. they were words that parisa had not only ignored but laughed at. she was parisa abbas, the spoiled cherished daughter of a high commissioner, she was untouchable. so why then, was there blood spattered across her? splotches of red that had dotted her skin and stained the blue corset top and pristine white pants adorning her frame — a destruction of wardrobe that was really going to piss her off whenever she noticed. fortunately for them, the girl currently seems too stunned to process anything, silent and still from her cramped place in the backseat, staring at something that neither of them could see. it's only when the older of the pair leans back that her dark orbs shift, that they lock onto his face for the first time, seeming more disgusted than she was shocked or scared. "no. i came out of the the womb and my mother decided it was better to let men who can't wash their asses call me whatever sexist term they can best conjure up. — you fucking dunce." a high amount of sass to show to someone who'd just shot another person for seemingly no reason, a complete one-eighty from the girl who hadn't made a sound when the gun went off, who hadn't fought or protested against the hands that had grasped her and forced her into the unknown vehicle. it was as if the singular remark had snapped parisa out of her shock and instead of being terrified, she was consumed by her rage. "now turn this disgusting car around and let me out before i cause a god damn scene." and she would — just ask her father; very little that the girl was better at.

open to: femme faces / unlucky shopper or cashier
plot: on the lam and short on cash, career criminal brothers drop in at a piggly wiggly for a quick pick-me-up. unfortunately, in the midst of the robbery, your muse is taken hostage - whoopsie!
muses: caleb rudd, 37, criminal. vengeful and amoral to his core, recently released from prison. joseph rudd, 32, bartender. antisocial and a victim of his brother's schemes.
Tumblr media
" - the fuck were you thinking!" it'd all gone wrong — everything. from the very first second that they stepped into the sleepy supermarket, joseph could sense it. something was off in the stale air, a foreboding spark of electricity making his breath come heavier behind the bandana covering his face from the nose down. it was about to be one hell of a robbery, and caleb made sure of it. wild blue eyes darted frantically between the road and rearview mirror, his brother's hyena-like cackles grating his nerves as they sped away from the scene of the crime.
"what did i do?" caleb posed innocently, as if there wasn't blood splattered over all three of them. as if they hadn't been seconds away from being home free, duffel stuffed with cash from the registers, and then just for kicks, he'd aimed his shotgun at the manager and pulled the trigger. a pink and red confetti explosion of viscera had made bystanders scream and panic — and joseph, too. "i'm not the one who nabbed the girl." caleb twisted around in the passenger seat to leer at her, his smile out of place for the high-strung situation. she'd been chucked into the backseat of the rusted corvette like forgotten luggage, trapped behind seats that had to be shoved forward to exit the two-door vehicle, nothing but a mess of gas station garbage and loose dirty clothes greeting her. joseph didn't know why he'd dragged her out. regret dropped heavy in his gut, ignoring the way that caleb began to taunt her. "you do that just for me, joe, huh?" caleb slapped the other's shoulder before leaning further back, arms folding over the seat. "got a name, sugartits?"

𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐀 .
“They were students once as well, I wonder what their lives in college were like,” Parisa mused, her chin resting in her hand as her elbow was propped up on the table. It was easy to imagine the professors having been studious bookworms in their early twenties, but she couldn’t help but wonder if any of them had been social butterflies much like the two women chatting were. “All for class, but I’m also planning on keeping them for personal use so it’s a win-win I guess. I’ll need models for my senior year project, I’d love to have you if you’d be willing,” she mentioned earnestly. Not only did she like Julieta’s company, but the girl’s presence commanded a room and would certainly be powerful when Parisa had to present her final designs. “I may be offended if you told me you didn’t want me to make you a custom gown.” The comment was made in jest, as Parisa knew what an important choice that was for a future bride. “Do you have any favorites of the ones they sent you? No harm in focusing on school, you’re here for a reason, right? I’m sure your followers would understand and respect that.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“They’re probably just, you know, torturing us like they were tortured. It’s like a pattern of abuse or whatever. And don’t they know how much more our lives are complicated because I mean I basically have a full time career with what I’m doing.” Julieta didn’t have to post on Instagram, but she loved the attention that it got her. Companies that she would never have been in the room with came to her for information. “Do you have any fun projects that you’re working on?” She was happy that she got the chance to know Parisa now in college. It would seem desperate if she never spoke to the woman and suddenly tried to ask her for designs later. “I’d love to be a model for you!” she smiled. “That is assuming if I ever get married. I don’t want to think of an imaginary wedding if it never happens.” She laughed, she wasn’t even dating anyone right now, so the thought of those sorts of plans were a little silly. “I do. I’m picking a few to focus on,” Julieta nodded. “Oh, they do understand, but I don’t want to let them down. They count on me.”
