so this post is dedicated to all those poor ships and characters that suffer from chronic side pairing or chronic side character.

For explanation

chronic side pairing: a ship that is actually common/popular within a fandom but is never the focus of any fics and is usually a side pairing.

chronic side character: a main character in canon (sorry canon side characters) that is often pushed aside by other main characters or even side characters and barely has fics where they are the focus.

Here's another favorite fandom thing: when a mediocre artist posts art related to a fandom and the fans like and reblog and say encouraging things. I love that so much.

My mind is still fixed on Percy/Leo Hurst from the Rigel Black Chronicles.

Leo is someone else's OC based on a character from a novel. But the idea of Percy meeting the King of Thieves, the one person most aware of all the Ministry's flaws and the person who takes up responsibility for the people they've failed ... and Leo is a gentle guy. At no point does he call Harry out for being part of the rich magical elite, or make anyone who's ignorant about the Alleys feel bad about it. He's good with people and knowing what to say when to get them to understand where he's coming from, and what to hold back. You can't invent anyone better to shake up someone's preconceptions without triggering a defensive response. And I think Percy would love the ability to help people directly in the Alleys, especially once he realizes his work in the Ministry is not doing the good he hoped for.

Maybe Percy volunteers at the clinic for whatever reason. Maybe Leo's dad sends anyone who gets an O on their Potions OWL a whole brochure on the benefits of being a Potion's Master. Or maybe Percy shows up at the Potion's Guild saying "My brothers keep inventing things and blowing themselves up, PLEASE HELP ME." Maybe he's just looking for someone to help him get that Potion's NEWT.

And personality-wise, Leo is both a fun guy and also responsible. People tend to want to pair Percy with someone who can help him "lighten up", but he is not going to get along with someone who doesn't take anything seriously. Leo's also street smarts to Percy's book smarts. They're the same age. It works so well.

Reasons Spiderverse x Pjo x DC aka The Anomalies should be a thing

Miles' story is all about interdimensional relathionships,the multiverse is canon to DC too and it can be easily incorperated into Pjo too because of the ancient greek magicisms so it's the perfect setup and gives Miles an opportunity to shine

Miles,Percy and Jason are the definition of the 'god made us exist in different series' because he knew we'd be unstoppable as canon best friends' meme.They have so much in common:August birthdays,undiagnosed audhd,afro-caribbeans,infinite love for their moms,physical incapability to not run their mouths,no flirting skills,genius' with dorky interests,unbreakables backbones,punks,willingness to give up the entire world for their loved ones because they're convinced they can always find a way to save it,catch a break every now and then but not often,darker supressed powers they're terrified of,transgender,had their lives irreversably impacted when they were 15 in an iconic story arc and doom-undoomed by the narrative

They also have significant contrasts in ways that'd make their relathionship interesting,not with toxicity but unconventional healthiness and that itself is fitting to all three of them.Percy and Jason would start of hating eachother and only sticking together to be around Miles who's instantly loved by them and so adoptable to them too and have the frenemies to ride or die best friends slowburn they deserve and Miles deserves to be best friends with characters as beloved and popular Percy and Jason since he's so underrated and overlooked and they'd be super open with their appreciation of him as he with his of them

my year in fic

Thanks for the tag @wolfpants! I've needed to do a roundup post for the year, and your post was a good reminder to do so! I've accomplished a lot in 2023, but specifically looking at fics...I've written 27(ish) fics this year, and surpassed 100 fics total this year! 182,231 (posted) words. I wrote several fics I've long wanted to write. And 3 fics from this year jumped right up to my Top 10 favorites (if not top 5!) 2023 has been a good year for writing, I think! This verse, even though it's clearly a crossover, can also be taken as a Muggle AU! Basically the world where magic doesn't / never existed.

And a little reminder that Hermione, in this verse, is not a Granger. She's a Holmes.

• The Malfoys, primarily Lucius Malfoy, are members of the Government.

•  Like Mycroft, Lucius Malfoy is a Government Official. He sits on the seats as most of the important Government members do, such as Mycroft Holmes. •  Lucius is one of the more snobby and shady members of the Government, who has strong distaste for the Holmes'—specifically Sherlock Holmes and especially Mycroft Holmes, and by extension, Sherlock's only child & daughter, Hermione. • Lucius has a strong dislike for Hermione due to her besting his son, Draco, in most ( if not every ) lesson they have together, always walking out of exams with perfect marks. He goes home and does nothing but complain about her.   ⤷ Molly tells Hermione it's just a school boy with a crush on her, which    at a young age, makes the little Holmes cringe and gag. •  Narcissa is the high class ❛do things behind the scenes❜ wife and mother. She goes out for tea and events with women of similar standing, making sure her son is well taught, tailored, prim and proper, whilst trying to keep her husband in line.

• The Weasleys

•  So similarly to how it would be at Hogwarts, all the Weasleys, ( Ginny, Ron, Fred, George, Percy, Bill & Charlie ) all attend the same school that Hermione attends. A mix class school, all the children in different year groups, but basically exactly as it was at Hogwarts. How Molly Weasley manages, we'll never know. •  Arthur Weasley is also a Government official, sat on the same row of tables as Lucius Malfoy and Mycroft Holmes, but digs more into the things that people of the Government deem as "little" / unimportant.

• The Potters are NOT infamous.

•  Harry is still born to James Potter and Lily Potter ( neé Evans ), but unlike the movies and books, James and Lily are still alive and thriving, raising their son Harry without a worry of murder in the world, just a normal family, really. •  That being said, Harry still grows up with the same, kind attitude as he usually does, but having a lot less trauma following behind him, still becoming best friends with Ronald Weasley and Hermione Holmes. •  James Potter is a member of the Government, but on a lower tier compared to Mycroft, Lucius and Arthur. He also coaches the "Gryffindor" football team on the afternoons when he isn't working, teaching Harry, Ron, Ginny, Fred, George and other kids / teens how to play.   ⤷ Football is where Harry & Draco kick off their rivalry, and where    Hermione goes to stick up for her friends, calling Draco a "spoilt little    brat" for his father buying his position and her a "filthy little trollop". •  Harry's got two non-blood related uncles, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, and a God-son, Teddy Lupin, who are all alive and well. Sirius has still been to jail for being framed for some sort of murder, and Remus has scars from a dog ( or wolf ) attack.

•  I don't think I need to make note, but I will. Severus Snape, Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore, and lots of other professors are now just plain teachers. Albus Dumbledore is still the headmaster, but dies in their sixth year of old age, having Minerva McGonagall take over as Headmistress.   ⤷ The subjects that they will teach is totally open for people's muses of    them to interpret! •  This also means that if people make their muses teachers, like Hermione for example, they'd just be plain teachers, following on from their old mentors above them.

𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 :

One third of the stepford cuckoos she was cloned in a lab, bred for power and raised to manipulate. She’s sneaky and cunning, willing to use her powers to manipulate those around her to get the results she wants. However, she has a heart of gold hidden underneath her “rough” exterior. All in all she’s impatient but a sweetheart and while she and her sisters may be able to share a mind there is a clear distinction between them, Esme being less willing to use violence as a first resort, but if you threaten anyone she cares for or back her into a corner, she’s willing to do anything. After all there’s nothing more dangerous than an animal that’s backed against the wall.

𝐛𝐢𝐨 :

Being one of five clones created in a lab meant that Esme never was destined for a normal life. She spent a large portion of her youth being controlled and manipulated into the perfect weapon, collared and kept separate from two of the five as she was forced to rip into peoples minds alongside her sisters.

At age 13 they turned against their captors. Esme, Sophie and Phoebe being the only clones that made it out alive in their escape. For years they manipulated their way into homes, faking mamories in families a day at a time only to move a few days later, it was no wonder that they were found only four years after their escape. The Hellfire club took in the three 17 year olds and utilized their abilities as much as they wished, this time fighting for her own rights or at least that's what Esme told herself.

After an undercover mission goes wrong both her sisters are taken captive and Esme devises a plan to help them escape, infiltrating the mutant underground to get them back. She wouldn't loose any more sisters.

ok ok this is gonna be a sorta long and sorta detailed post cuz i don't wanna have to answer any more "percy feats vs ror character feats" asks again (and i also should probably post this on the actual fic too to inform my readers for later arcs buuuuuuut maybe later, i'm too lazy rn lol)

percy is physically the weakest/slowest person in ror verse (against the main characters i mean). notice how i say PHYSICALLY. power-wise (as in her water manipulation, etc.), she could definitely take on the human characters (maybe not adam tho)

as i have said before, most book characters cannot trump anime characters from shonens/seinins when it comes to physical feats. shonens and seinens love going above and beyond in making characters physically op.

the pjo verse is very similar to our universe/the Real World in terms of physicality. the pjo humans are very average just like us and while the demigods are more enhanced than that, they are still nothing compared to ror characters. in the ror verse, the human physical potential is faaaaaar higher than the humans AND demigods of the pjo verse.

animes just Be Like That, okay??? it's like sending harry potter characters into sakamoto days. yeah hp characters have magic and sakadays characters have no powers, but they got an old man that can slice through a whole building with one swing of his sword (takamura), a dude that can one-inch punch a hole through people's bodies (gaku), and a dude who moves insanely fast (kindaka); they don't stand a fucking chance 💀💀💀💀💀

so percy, unfortunately, cannot stand a chance against even the ror humans if she's not using any of her powers. if she's sticking solely to her physical abilities (sword-fighting, hand-to-hand, etc. NO powers), she's FUCKED.

and as i have said before, the whole "oh but she carried the sky" thing is not a feat for her physical strength. if she was actually that strong, she would've just become the One Punch Man of the pjo verse and one-shotted every other enemy after that. there is a CURSE on atlas' punishment:

the ror HUMANS alone have the most insane fucking physical feats that percy (or any demigod in the pjo verse) could never even dream to accomplish (sorry my children 😔):

when lu bu was still alive, he was able to split open the skies with a single swing of his spear:

raiden ripping off poor shiva's arms with his bare hands (and his volundr didn't give him enhanced strength either, all thrud did was help him control his muscles; this strength is solely his):

i could go on and on about the ror humans, but i'm gonna move on to the gods!

as i've stated before, i HATEDDDDDDD how the gods were in the manga. they were more like superhumans!!!! they weren't godlike at all!!!! so i gave them a boost in powers for my fic so they would actually be godlike!!!! if percy can't even beat any of the ror humans in a physical fight, she absolutely does not stand a chance against ANY of the ror gods in a physical fight!!!!!!! or even a fight with her powers! because again, she is a demigod and they are GODS.

(tbh, even if i kept the gods as canon, she still wouldn't be able to beat them because their physical feats are ALSO insane 💀)

but is percy 1000000% fucked???? no. she still has ONE good shit in her arsenal that the ror humans and gods don't have: the curse of achilles. she 99.99% untouchable. she cannot be hurt by them unless their attacks hit her mortal spot, but only three people (loki, beel, and mnemosyne) know of that mortal spot and they're not keen on telling anyone about it or the curse

yes, the characters will absolutely throw her around like a fucking ragdoll (😭) but as long as her mortal spot is untouched, she will live!!!! (she'll be really fucking embarrassed tho, but she'll live!)

she also has insane fucking powers that the humans DON'T have:

AND i am also boosting her by giving her some limited blood/ichor manipulation (again, blood manipulation is not canon; this is a fanon thing that i THOUGHT was canon because many other ppl said it was canon, but it's really not 😔)

she is also insanely smart when it comes to battle IQ and strategizing and the best part is that people underestimate her cuz they either think she's dumb af (beel and loki) or that she's just a baby (poseidon, hades, zeus, shiva, adamas, literally fucking everyone else) or BOTH (cú chulainn 💀)

and another thing that i don't really count as a "pro" but i'm putting it in here anyway: no god is gonna wanna hurt her anyway 💀 she's very widely loved by the pantheons, they wouldn't wanna hurt her cuz they love her (romantically and platonically). same with humans, they're not gonna wanna fight her for the same reason 💖

I WILL ALSO BE GIVING HER A LIL SOMETHING EXTRA THAT YOU'LL LEARN ABOUT IN ACT 2!!!! IT'S GONNA REALLY HELP HER!!! BUT I WON'T SAY WHAT HEHE

so in conclusion:

percy absolutely does not stand a chance against a fight with any god even with her powers; she can last a decent amount of time, but she WILL lose

percy will 100% lose against the ror humans in a PHYSICAL fight (and by ror humans, i mean the ror human fighters ofc. the regular humans she could obviously beat cuz they're just regular humans)

percy has a good chance of winning against some of the humans in a fight with her powers (but she will 10000% lose against adam cuz it's adam 💀)
