Lilia frowned while holding that book, turning it up and down as if hoping doing that silly action would somehow give him all the intelligence and common sense in the world.

He wasn't sure how long he kept doing such a thing, trying to comprehend what it was saying in every way possible until it got to the point Lilia was sitting upside down on the sofa, holding the book vertically and squinting.

Maybe his old age was finally catching up to him. Maybe his eyes were finally starting to get bad. Maybe Lilia would even die tomorrow and oh no, who would take care of that human kid and Malleus then? Oh no.

"Oh, Malleus! You're finally home!" Lilia flopped down from the sofa, almost as if sliding from it and quickly turning back up, rushing up to his side and shoving the book to his face. "So, you see. Your dad is smart and all and surely he can read, you know! He's smart! He was a strong guard and all! But! Apparently your dad cannot comprehend human literature and therefore is unable to understand anything written in this book about how to take care of human babies and celebrate their birthdays!"

Malleus was Lilias last hope. Please, tell poor innocent Lilia that he can understand the language.

"... Lilia. I am quite certain this is a book about human cooking, not a parenting guide. And you seem to be on the chapter that tackles the history of human meat." Malleus mumbled from behind the book still being shoved at his face.

Oh, how miserable. At least Silver wasn't awake already to see his dad committing such a small, tiny, insignificant mistake as this.
