第62回日本SF大会 やねこんR、無事終了

第62回日本SF大会 やねこんR、無事に終えました。 1枚目:オタクバー常連さんの着ぐるみ師。参加してるケモナーイベントがSF大会を参考にしてると聞き、今回初参加。 惜しくも暗黒星雲賞は次点。 2枚目:おぼろげ絵画教室。 右端は星雲賞アート部門受賞の麻宮騎亜氏！ いつも通り、おおいに盛り上がりました。 3枚目:仕事場が変わって顔を見れてなかった、古参のオタクバー常連さんと。 経営するオタクバーのオリジナルTシャツを着てきてくれたので、記念写真をパチリ。 4枚目:��泊はプリキュア部屋。60代のおじさん3人とここで寝る罰ゲーム。 4時半に寝たのですが、「風呂と朝食行こうぜ」と7時半に起こされる罰ゲーム。 帰りの車中ではほとんど寝落ちしてました。

Is the White Dragon Horse Buddhist?

I was recently contacted by a reader on my main external blog. Part of their question asked:

I heard on the Fifth Monkey [@jttwaudiodrama] production notes for Part 8 that the White Dragon Horse wasn’t really converted to Buddhism and thus never “left his family” and obligations. Would this make him eligible for marriage...?

My answer:

There is some inconsistency in the White Dragon Horse’s story. I can’t recall him officially taking vows during the journey, but the Buddha states in chapter 100 that he had (at some point):

Then he [the Buddha] said to the white horse, “You were originally the prince of Dragon King Guangjin of the Western Ocean. Because you disobeyed your father’s command and committed the crime of unfiliality, you were to be executed. Fortunately you made submission to the Law and accepted our vows ... (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 4, p. 382). 又叫那白馬：「汝本是西洋大海廣晉龍王之子，因汝違逆父命，犯了不孝之罪。幸得皈身皈法，皈我沙門 ...

He is then elevated in rank to become an Aṣṭasenā, a group of eight celestial beings said to be "in attendance when the Buddha speaks the Mahayana sutras" (Buswell & Lopez, 2014, p. 74). The Buddha continues:

... Because you carried the sage monk daily on your back during his journey to the West and because you also took the holy scriptures back to the East, you too have made merit. I hereby grant you promotion and appoint you one of the dragon[ horses] belonging to the Eight Classes of Supernatural Beings (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 4, p. 382). ... 每日家虧你馱負聖僧來西，又虧你馱負聖經去東，亦有功者，加陞汝職正果，為八部天龍馬。」

After transforming back into a dragon, he takes his place atop a Huabiao pillar in paradise:

The elder, his three disciples, and the horse all kowtowed to thank the Buddha, who ordered some of the guardians to take the horse to the Dragon-Transforming Pool at the back of the Spirit Mountain. After being pushed into the pool, the horse stretched himself, and in a little while he shed his coat, horns began to grow on his head, golden scales appeared all over his body, and silver whiskers emerged on his cheeks. His whole body shrouded in auspicious air and his four paws wrapped in hallowed clouds, he soared out of the pool and circled inside the monastery gate, on top of one of the Pillars that Support Heaven (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 4, p. 382). 長老四眾，俱各叩頭謝恩。馬亦謝恩訖。仍命揭諦引了馬，下靈山後崖化龍池邊，將馬推入池中。須臾間，那馬打個展身，即退了毛皮，換了頭角，渾身上長起金鱗，腮頷下生出銀鬚，一身瑞氣，四爪祥雲，飛出化龍池，盤繞在山門裡擎天華表柱上。

And lastly, JTTW refers to him as a bodhisattva:

I submit to the Bodhisattva of Vast Strength, the Heavenly Dragon of Eight Divisions of Supernatural Beings (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 4, p. 385). 南無八部天龍廣力菩薩。

So given this info, I don’t think he would be involved in a relationship.

anyweyzzzzzzzzzzzzz,, meet ryuuzaki mato (竜崎 マト) and uruwashi hazuki (雲類鷲 晴月) !! (he/she for mato, any prns for hazuki)

first of all, i'd like to say that i used picrews as references for them, but i only made slight changes for mato (the og skin color was too dull.... </3)

okay so. mato. he's genderfluid, bisexual, and uses he/she pronouns (already stated that on the top of the post)! she prefers being called by her given name rather than her surname (take into account the name order in japan)

and yes, they're both managers! i figured i wanted to make male manager ocs, and these two were the result,, i KNOW mato looks like a girl but let him (and ME) be plz :3c

she isn't usually seen wearing the prescribed blazer for seishou, but i like to think that they (seishou) aren't too strict with the school dress code. although that was the case, mato still promised she'd (mostly) wear vests or cardigans that had similar colors to the blazer. at first, she was a bit nervous about going to school with a yellow cardigan, but seishou allowed it, so she's safe!!! wow!!!!!!!! also whether he wears a skirt or pants to school depends on his mood

my guy is obsessed with vests and cardigans so everyone just kinda immediately associates those clothes to him whenever they come across them. some examples of how his casual outfits usually look like: these pins. might have slight modifications depending on how diligent i am

now, about his past, why he wears an eyepatch, and how his sister died........

a random fact about her is that she owns a toy piano from her unfortunately deceased older sister, and has a youtube channel dedicated to making covers with it, occasionally accompanying them with a xylophone and/or her voice. figure one: final duet.

ah wait. before i talk abt his past, i wanna talk abt etymologies!!!!!

first of all, the ryuu in her surname 竜崎 (first kanji/character) is from 竜座 (ryuuza), which means draco constellation! this is supposed to be in line w how they name seishou characters (aka they name them after constellations). as for mato, i just took that from the first two syllables of matoro juka's surname and wrote it in katakana LMAO

his sister, ryuuzaki yostuha (name not final), died at 15 years old, which is basically fresh outta junior high (bc she was turning 16 that year). apparently, she had a stalker who had been planning to kill her since 2 years ago, and they murdered her on her birthday. mato was 9 at the time.

mato's initial reaction was shock and denial, since yknow. yotsuha's his sister. and she's one of his closest... friends? relatives? ever.

it's been 3 years since yotsuha's death, and mato's now in junior high. he noticed how his parents' attention suddenly turned to him, and how they started giving him so much affection the same way they did to yotsuha, and it kinda irked him a bit. she knew? she should be grateful since her parents actually "care" about her now, but on second thought, it's probably because they're coping with losing their eldest daughter.

okay NOW on why she's wearing an eyepatch. in her last few days of being a first year in seishou, same stalker who killed yotsuha suddenly showed up on her way home and attempted murdering her too, but only ended up stabbing her right eye. stalker ended up retreating but got arrested later lolz

and Finally. the general gist of his past as of now is that he grew up being neglected by his parents until his sister died and all the attention and affection they gave to her suddenly turned to him. then on one fine day, stalker who murdered older sister pulled a funny and stabbed his eye. okay that's it

next up, uruwashi hazuki! they're also genderfluid, unlabeled sexuality (still not sure about this) and they use any prns (stated already at the top of the post but yk)!

she basically wears the girls' seishou uniform Except:

she wears those tight shorts or whatever theyre called (whatever terumi wears in her og zeus uniform)

her blazer is unbuttoned and the polo? shirt is untucked on one side (usually the left)

as for his casual outfit.... well, the picrew i used just clearly depicts his usual casual outfit lol

a random fact about him is that he tends to collect a lot of space-related stuff, especially if it's something connected to constellations, stars, and the moon. i mean. moon is literally in his name (月(tsuki/zuki) = moon)

for etymologies, the washi in her surname 雲類鷲 (third kanji/character) comes from 鷲座/わし座 (washiza), which means aquila/eagle constellation!!! same thing as a while ago, and also i wanted to give her a moon typa motif so i put 月 in her name HAKALSJAH (also fyi i took her surname from uruwashi karuta ayakashi akashi 😭😭😭😭😭)

as for their past, i'm still thinking about it. for now, it's just something along the lines of being raised by a seemingly ordinary family in a broken village.

i plan to expand that idea maybe by around the end of the week since moratorium is this week which means i'll get really busy... 💔

anyways, i'm glad i still had the time to write this! i'd like to remind you again that half (if not more or less) of the info i jotted down in this post aren't completely finalized yet, and are therefore subject to change in the not-so distant future!

またひとつ区切りがついてしまいました。こんなにも終わってほしくないことがあったなんて���こんな気持ちになれるなんて。僕は本当に幸せです。

しあらさん。そして日野悠真。引退直前に1番ハードなことをさせてしまいましたね。秋公演期間中、何度も貴方のかっこよさを見せつけられてきました。きっとしあらさんじゃなきゃ走り抜けることはできなかったんだろうと思っています。貴方に任せて本当に良かった。この時が続けばいいなと、ずっと思っていました。

それはまるで魔法のようで、のところ。楽ステでシャツが出ているのを見て、ああこんなにも頑張ってくれたんだと泣きそうになった。堂々と手を伸ばす姿を見て涙が溢れた。

白子。そして日野翔太。高校演劇経験者ということもあって、演劇に対して割と近い理念をもっているんじゃないかなと勝手に考えています。いつか語り合いたいな。役作りとかシーン練とか、君と話しながらやっていくの、僕は楽しかったよ。君の演劇に対するエネルギー、見習いたいと思います。

闇の中一瞬触れた手、のところ。力強く触れた手を噛み締めていて、君にとっても楽しい時間だったらいいなと、そんなことを考えていた。

ころねさん。そして小池綾香。好きなものを好きでいるための努力を惜しまない人。きっと苦しい時期もあったでしょう。好きでいていいのか悩む時期もあったでしょう。それも全部ひっくるめて楽しかったと思ってもらえてたら、僕はとても嬉しいです。稽古の外でもたくさん助けられました。感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。

ゆに。そして辻井。自分の強み弱みを的確に把握できている役者なのかなと思います。今できないことは何で、どうすればできるようになるのか。当たり前のように思えて、とても難しいことをこれからも考えてみてください。きっと君の良さが伸び続けていくはずです。

頑張ったね、のところ。まさかここで泣けるとは思っていなかった。君は何を思いながらあのセリフを言ったんだろうか。

見光一雲

ロキ。そして上杉。きっと信じている価値観が近い部分があるんだと思う。君のおかげで美しくなったシーンが幾つもありました。日を追う事に演技の幅が広くなっていって、その成長を一緒に味わえたことを嬉しく思います。いつかなにかをお返しできたらいいな。

何年一緒にやってきてると思ってるんだ、のところ。君の優しさが役の優しさと重なっていた。もっと君の優しさに触れていたかった。

コン

こん。そして天野。もしかしたら、君は僕と似たような着眼点を持っているのかもしれないな。それに気づけたのが稽古終盤で、もっと早くから見てあげられなかったことが心残りです。上手くなろうという意識が、努力の形跡が、一段と強く現れていた役者だと思います。

想いをストレートに伝えてくれるところ。もっと練習したかったですと言ってもらえた時、僕がどれだけ嬉しかったか。君は知る由もないんだろうけど。

たぴおか太郎

ナスカ。そして海老名。初めの方はイメージの共有に苦しめてしまいましたね。それでも気がつけば役作りが完成していて、流石の一言に尽きます。あの役を一番楽しんでくれたんじゃないでしょうか。そんな君を見て、僕も楽しみながらやっていけました。

誰よりも大きく喜んでくれるところ。周りを巻き込んでくれるその笑顔があったから、折れそうな時も進むことができた。

Aru=R

ホバさん。そして園田。とても長く、苦しい時間を過ごさせてしまったんじゃないでしょうか。もっといいやり方があったのかもしれません。それでも、懸命に努力を重ねる貴方を、密かに頼もしく思っていました。多くの色を持つ役を演じきってくださったこと、本当に嬉しく思います。

その可能性が低すぎるから、のところ。呼吸もままならないようなセリフの読みを、息も忘れて聴いていた。全力を出すということを、背中を以て伝えてくれた。

苔丸

こけまる。そして二宮。長いセリフの中、たった一文追加しただけのところにすぐに気がついていて驚きました。こういった影での積み重ねがセリフ覚えや役作りの早さに繋がっているのでしょう。その秘訣はやはり、この場所が好きということなんでしょうか。これからも好きでいてくれたら嬉しいです。

困難だらけの、のところ。柔らかな動きから想いが零れ出していた。繋げる、ということの難しさ、美しさを、改めて教えてくれた。

統括のフォーニャー

フォーニャー。そして橘。僕と役者とを、役者と観客とを結ぶ、とても大事な役割を果たしてくれました。伝える、という大切なことが、君なしでは実現しませんでした。君に任せて良かったと、心から思います。

Isn't forced migration to the moon、のところ。ワンシーンの中で感情の流れを動かさなくてはならないのに、その変化をしっかりと伝えてくれた。脚本全体を、このセリフで支えてくれた。

アリリ・オルタネイト

イルル。そしてアレン。君の得意と不得意のその先を見てみたくてこの役に当ててみました。成功だったと信じています。今までとは色の違う演技だったと思いますが、どうだったでしょうか。どうか、君の持っているものを大切にしてあげてください。優しさなんかも含めて。

I can't believe、のところ。たった一つの動作、言葉でシーンを大きく動かしてくれた。美しいフィナーレを彩ってくれた。

ベジはむの残留思念体

ベジさん。そして五条。観客を楽しませるシーンから不安にさせるシーンまで、多くの場面で引き金となってくれました。簡単にできることじゃないのに簡単にやってのけるのは、きっと周囲との信頼関係があるからじゃないのかなと思います。その輪の中に僕は入れたでしょうか。

早ければ来週にでも殺せますが、のところ。息を呑み、心音が早まるのが分かった。心を揺さぶられながら、それすらも心地よく感じていた。

近未来ミイラ

みいら。そして戸部。実は最初に君に演出補佐を頼んだ時は、新人公演のための修行期間として頑張ってもらおうかな、なんて密かに思っていました。けれど実際はこっちが助けてもらってばかりで、君がいなくてはこの物語は完成していませんでした。

幕裏でグラスを丁寧に渡してくれるところ。絶対に両手で渡してくれて、なんとなくグラスよりも大切ななにかを受け取った気になっていた。僕は君に何を渡せたかな。

しょこら

こらしょ。そして鬼頭。この期間、特に終盤にかけて大きく成長してくれました。はじめの方、時間をかけて見てあげられなかったことを申し訳なく思います。これから君は、大きな役者へと育っていくのでしょう。その歩みの手助けができていれば幸いです。

一体なんてことしてくれたんだ、のところ。何度も何度も繰り返した練習の軌跡を見せてくれた。力強い足踏みに頼もしさを覚えた。

坪井涼

ゴコさん。音響オペとして舞台を奏でてくれました。貴方のおかげで役者が声豊かになり、素敵な舞台になってくれました。何度もご迷惑をおかけしましたね。その一つ一つへの貴方の対応に、僕は救われてきました。

一緒に笑ってくれるところ。独りじゃないと何度も確認させてくれた。絶対に誰も独りにしなかった。

園堂香莉

なぽり。照明オペとして舞台を照らしてくれた。舞台をあんなに彩鮮やかにするのは難しかったと思います。臨機応変に照明を操る君がいるから、全力で舞台を作ることができました。

オペ卓に立っているところ。いつもと同じ声で、だけど違った表情で。少し楽しそうに見えたのが気の所為じゃないといいんだけれど。

田坂優

えぴ。映像オペとして舞台を飾ってくれました。今回、映像の数が普段より多く、またタイミングも厳しめに設定しました。それでも難なくこなしてくれる君に、安心して僕らの背中を預けることができました。

含羞むように笑うところ。その笑顔も、いつしか自信に変わっていくのだろう。きっと今だけだから、少し大切にしておこうと思った。

君安飛那太

コルクさん。キャスパの振り付けを担当してくれました。最後に貴方の創る美しさの力を借りることができて、本当に嬉しく思います。小さな言葉の積み重ねでここまで連れてきてもらいました。そんな関係も、悪くは無いのだと思います。

話したいことを話しかけてくれるところ。とても楽しくて、ずるくて、あまりに眩しかった。

公演が終わってから、この日々を思い出さない日はありませんでした。皆さんの表情、言葉、息遣い、すべて鮮明に憶えています。笑った顔も、怒った顔も、大好きでした。きっとこれからも思い出し続けるのでしょう。
