Hmmmm. Very good question!

As far as art goes, I've been wanting to try a somewhat more lineless/less cartoon-ish style, but I'm super intimidated by it because it would be totally reliant on shading/highlighting that I really don't do a lot of right now.

As far as writing--this isn't really a trope, so I'm not sure it counts, but there's a fic that's been rotating in my mind like a rotisserie chicken for a long while that I want to write, but it would end up being super long probably and I think to really pull it off I would have to be a lot more nuanced with a character that...isn't really my favorite.

There was a post going around a while back (fuck I wish I could remember whose it was) about wanting to see stories about Jedi returning to the Order when the war started rather than just stories about them leaving, and I've always thought that it would be a fantastic character and general meta study to explore a universe where Obi-Wan had decided to stay on Mandalore with Satine, but finds that he cannot sit idly by once the war breaks out and decides to don the robes again.

It would probably be end-game Codywan (bc I am who I am, and I'm very interested in the concept of the clones being very why the fuck are they sending us some fucking New Mandalorian Duke to be our general and eventually coming around, because it's Obi-Wan), but it would also be way too easy to fall into that nasty trope where the protag's current spouse is just an irredeemable bitch, especially since she isn't really my favorite character like I said, and I hate that trope, so writing that story would require me to be cognizant of what I was doing and how things were reading pretty much the entire time.

That said, I do also think it would be a very rewarding story if I was able to pull it off, so I probably will give it a try eventually. I'm just really intimidated by it lol.

TITANS: Usually my answer is Wicked Game but this time I want to highlight my two current favorites which are my two of my most recent fics I loved, and I loved, and I lost you and I am flesh, bones... I am skin, soul… both started out as one shots, both got surprise second chapters, the latter of which will get more. Two recent ideas that really got me excited about writing Titans again. The first one is an unexpected exploration of my grief after losing my beloved show - I say "unexpected" because this fic was never in the plans until it hit me like a wrecking ball one day and I had to drop everything to write it. And the second one was drifting in my head for a while, fed by things other shows had given me, until Titanstober Challenge came and gave me an excuse to write it!

THE LAST OF US: I have to go with And We Were Dancing Like We're Made Of Starlight, the fic where Joel and Ellie find an abandoned mansion and have a little dance in the ballroom, because the idea just warms my heart when I think about it, the response of the fandom to it was amazing AND WE GOT A VIDEO OF PEDRO AND BELLA DANCING TO MATCH IT - sick coincidence that this footage dropped like a day or two after I posted this fic BECAUSE LOOK AT THEMMMM

PROSPECT: Haunted is my baby. It's an AU where the shitty bio father survives the events of the movie and the found father gets to be Feral Protective™, beat the crap out of him (for trying to steal and hurt his girl again) and tell him how much he fucked up yes this is me recompensating myself for not getting Dick vs. Trigon

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: I've only written two so far, but I'm going with Her Father's Daughter because the scene which this fic is an extension of absolutely wrecked me and is one of my all time favorite scenes from this series. The weight of grief when the person you're grieving isn't even gone yet, the fear that is ripping Daisy apart, the absolute hopelessness of the situation and Coulson's calm belief that she's going to be alright, I couldn't let it go without exploring it.

HIS DARK MATERIALS: One Word is the winner here. I rarely get invested in romantic relationships, especially these days, but Will and Lyra are the exception, they own my heart. And this fic is fixing their ending and letting them be happy because if there's one thing I will never be okay with is the fact these two didn't get their happily ever after and if you knew why, you'd agree with me 😩

🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?

Lol, the last time I answered a question like this, I was accused of being racist for saying that Sam Wilson is funny and emotionally stable XD

But as I think about it now, I suppose the real answer is that the toughest characters for me to write are snarky geniuses. The main ones I've had occasion to write would be Sherlock Holmes and Tony Stark. For one thing, they're much more intelligent than I am, so that's hard to write, and also their areas of expertise are very far removed from my own. Then, at least in Tony's case, I always feel the need to reference pop culture in some way - but not the nerdy stuff I would actually know about. Tony's always dropping references to movies I haven't seen or bands I don't listen to or something, so it takes a lot of effort to figure out what to make him say, and both he and Sherlock have this mocking way of talking a lot of the time that doesn't come naturally to me. I don't feel like I've ever really gotten either of their voices quite right.

🌻 How often do you read your own fics?

Less than I used to, I think. These days, I usually only read my own stuff when someone comments, "I love how you did XYZ!" And then I'm like, "Wait, I did XYZ?" and of course I have to go read it to see what they're talking about :P By the way, I'm not counting reading back over earlier portions of whatever WIP I'm in the middle of. That's just part of the writing process.

Final Fantasy X - Someday the Dream Will End My novelization of the game. Please note the date this was published and realize I was sixteen the last time I touched this thing ^^' It is very far beneath my current standards, but it's what got me into writing fanfiction in the first place, and it taught me so much about how stories work, how to write novel-length works, and also a lot of my preferences when it comes to writing and posting fanfic, specifically.

Harry Potter - Change I don't actually like any of my HP fics very much, if I'm being honest. I wrote most of them ages and ages ago, so the writing isn't very good, and I don't think I handled the few good ideas I had with the delicacy they required. So I picked this one because I wrote it much later than all the rest, so it's at least fairly competent. It's just a little exploration of a headcanon about how the broken Hogwarts House system could be tweaked to not be quite so divisive and counter-productive.

Full Metal Alchemist - The Ultimate Sacrifice Oh my gosh, I've written so many FMA fics over the years, it's almost impossible to pick x.x Some of them are really old and not very well written, some have really good ideas but my skill at the time is holding them back, some are quite good but...are they my favorite? In the end, I decided to go with this oneshot because it was burning a hole in my brain for years before I finally got it written down, and I think it still holds up okay seven years later. Basically, it's an AU that explores what it would be like if Ed uses his love for Al as the toll to get Al's body back. Super angsty, lots of tears, it's great! :D

ICO - Piaculum My novelization of the game, written after the official one was published in Japan but a good three years before it was ever translated to English, so that's how I justified writing it ^^' I didn't really know what I was doing. Parts of it are still kind of good, and I like how I dealt with certain themes and drew in connections to Shadow of the Colossus. But yeah, if you want a book that contains the story of my favorite game of all time, just go read Castle in the Mist by Miyuki Miyabe instead.

Legend of Zelda - One Hundred Beats A 100 Themes fic centered around the friendship of Link and Navi. I wrote this whole thing during one of the busiest and most exhausting periods of my life, and I'll always be impressed by past-me for doing that. I also really like some of the stories I came up with for it, especially all the AUs. Most importantly of all, brainstorming one chapter led me to the headcanon that healed the pain of what they did (or didn't do) with Navi in the canon, and for that I will always love this fic.

Sherlock - Memento Mori One of my kidlock oneshots, an AU where John and Sherlock met as kids. This one deals with the death of Sherlock's dog Redbeard (needless to say, it's quite different from the canon). Personally, I think this is the best one of my kidlock fics.

Captain America - Make Me Whole Obviously! This is the fic that took over my life and changed me irrevocably. For the first time ever, after so many years of writing just to get the ideas out and because no one else was doing it, this time I had a story where, even if ten other people came out of the woodwork with the exact same concept who were much better writers than me, I wanted to be the one to write it. I really got the sense that God wanted me to write this story, and I've seen the fruit of that over and over again. And, of course, without this fic I wouldn't be writing the mammoth WIP I'm working on now.

🚦What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?

You know, I've always said that bittersweet endings are my favorite. Endings like LotR, where the good guys win and evil is defeated, but not without great cost. But as I think through some of the endings I've been most satisfied about in my own writing, I think I need to fine-tune that. I think my favorite kind of ending is a particular brand of bittersweet, where it's not exactly "the Shire has been saved, but not for me." It's more like "we've been hurt, and we're not okay yet, but I think we will be." To me, that's the most realistic kind of ending you can get, because that's the way our lives are. (Not that I don't appreciate a good, completely happy ending where everybody lives happily ever after!)

When you grow up a creative, energetic child with an overactive imagination and a very supportive family… you get someone like Mindy Zaki: a girl who’s childhood dream bloomed with her. Like many children, Mindy had a pretty wild sweet tooth from the get-go. Candy was such a spectacle! It could pop like fireworks on your tongue, make any party level up, and was the perfect way to seal any celebration. She loved how much emotion could surround such little delicacies. Her fixation on sweets and confections grew from easy bake ovens and junior candy making kits to taking over her parent’s kitchen with state of the art supplies. Even now, Mindy is still astounded by the variety of candy from country to country… but there was still so much more to be explored! Aren’t people sick of the same tired flavors? Grape, orange, cherry… sure they were classics… but where’s all the creativity? Her drive and passion are truly impressive… and she won’t quit until her candies are blowing Hershey and Mars out of the water.

On the outside, people look at Mindy and see a pretty girl all dressed up and reaping the rewards of a lifestyle that comes with the ‘popular’ crowd. Sure, that’s all true… but Mindy is actually a secret ‘nerd.’ She’s always had a special appreciation for the creativity that Japan had with its candy and snacks. Delving more into their culture and customs, Mindy found herself getting really into anime. Then came manga… then comics.. then superheroes, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and even video games. Naturally, no one really knows this about her. She makes sure that side of her is well hidden… especially from Tiffany and the other Sugar Racers. 

Ah, the Sugar Racers… sweet like sugar, of course! But sugar can be sour, too. Mindy understands this about herself, which is why she gets on with the crew the way she does. Compared to the other racers, Mindy is more on the laid back and open minded side— though she knows she’s by no means a saint. Mindy can be quite self-centered. Everything she does, she does for Mindy. All of the ‘do gooder’ activities and events she participates in around town… yeah that’s just to promote her business and paint her in a good light. Even when it comes to picking on Vanellope… Mindy knows its mean. She knows the bullying isn’t actually benefiting the racers. But it neither hurts nor helps herself… so she just lets it happen. Besides, it’s much better for her to be in with the Sugar Racers than out with the glitch.

Mindy is no stranger to being underestimated. The girl is well aware her niche and colorful little dream is bit outlandish to some… but she’s working her ass off for it. It’s not often that one person has both the creative and the business side to bring a brand to life, but Mindy does. She’s a whirlwind of a one-woman show. One minute she’s rolling out numbers for budgeting, supplies, goals, quota… and the next minute she’s brainstorming new flavor combinations or imagining if candied ice cream drops would be possible. Maybe candied freeze dried ice cream? Her mind truly never stops… and don’t even get her started on packaging! In truth, running a business by herself can get overwhelming at times. It’s not uncommon to catch her speeding a few laps around the track whenever she needs to let off some steam.

Fashion is a huge outlet for self expression for Mindy. She’s definitely the best dressed candy maker you’ve ever seen. Not that there’s probably much competition in that department… Who’s she got to beat anyway? Mr. Wonka? Please. Either way you’ll hardly ever catch her in an un-styled outfit. (If you do, something is seriously wrong. Be prepared to handle her tears.) Mindy is always dressed to the nines and is one of those girls that can pull off anything. Girly, edgy, preppy, street, classic… she does it all! It’s so much fun for her to style hop! However, while Mindy does love fashion, she doesn’t so much care for brands or labels like some of the other Sugar Racers do. She likes what she likes… and it makes no difference to her whether she found something on the Chanel runway or in the corner of a thrift store. She knows she looks good and feels good regardless.
