DAPHINE HUFFED AS SHE tried to reach the apple from the tree again. she needed more apples to make cupcakes, but of course the only one that was there was higher than her. her feet fell back, standing flat instead of on her toes. right when she was about to try again, a hand came out from above her and grabbed the apple for her.

looking behind her, she saw the familiar blond hair of the man she loved. jacks smirked once he took the apple and tossed it in his hands. “apples for me, angel?” he teased. daphine smiled up at him and held her hand out for him to give her the apple. “sorry, but no. they’re for cupcakes!”

jacks lifted an eyebrow at her before dropping the red apple in her hands. “apple cupcakes?” he repeated, thumb hooking around the pocket of his pants. “yeah! i just learned how to make some and i wanted us to try it,” she explained with a smile. he hummed.

the two sat underneath the same apple tree, the grass surrounding them as they took out their food. daphine carefully took out the cupcakes she made, her eyes showing how excited she was to taste them.

jacks took out his own and carefully inspected it, the frosting that looked to have purposely cooked spots on it and the cupcake part of it. daph watched as he did and playfully rolled her eyes, taking off the pretty wrapping.

putting her hand underneath her mouth, she took a bite of it, the crumbles falling on her hand. she made a sound of satisfaction and nodded her head, jacks watching with a small smile. once she swallowed, “taste it! it’s good!” she grinned at him.

he leaned back, his hand in his grass as he took a bite of the cupcake she made. he looked up as he ate it and nodded at daphine once he finished. “it’s good, angel. we should make this more,” he mused. daphine lifted up her eyebrows at him. “you mean me?” she asked teasingly.

jacks rolled his eyes and shrugged. “you and i both know i helped by watching you.” daphine blew some air out of her mouth and took another bite of her cupcake. “yeah, you helped a lot.” they both knew that jacks only made it worse by staring at daphine’s every move as she made the cupcakes.
