in my thoughts infinite doesnt really start thinking about gender stuff until hes stuck in null space post-forces. because he cant do much else. perfect time to contemplate your identity!!!!

i think that he never really thought about his identity past what his own ego wanted him to be: infinte, ultimate mercenary, all-powerful. but a little thought pops up in their mind. who IS infinite? not as an identity, but as a person? who are they without his powers, his status? who is he?

i dont think he fully explores the gender side of things until after escaping null space, but once in a safe environment with space to explore, i think it hits him like a brick wall. a momentary, fleeting feeling of gender envy that makes him pause. literally just a feeling of "god i wish that were me"

its probably a slow journey. shes slowly trying to build up her own sense of identity, and after so much time focusing on what she can do, shes finally focusing on who she is. she tries new clothes. starts trying multiple pronouns. styling her hair differently. and as time goes on, she becomes more confident in who she is.

other misc headcanons i have that dont relate to like, her transition 'timeline':

she doesnt voice train; shes content with how her voice sounds

she does take Sonic Universe Estrogen tho

he officially identifies as gendervoid, specifically voidgirl. he prefers he/she pronouns, but likes they/them sometimes

in the mothfinite timeline, moth helps her with gender exploration a lot & when infinite joins the restoration officially, amy actually bonds a bit with her over it + provides some advice and suggestions!
