he is the bastard prince after all.
nikolai lantsov in love
warnings : none
for more : masterlist
nikolai lantsov became an unspoken tragedy the moment he was born. he loved stories as a kid, stories about lands far far away, of beasts and princesses, tales of voyages and sunken ships, of mermaids luring unsuspecting fools to their deaths, and of course stories about true love. he wanted to live the stories he couldn't write but he knew they weren't for him, he is the bastard prince after all.
nikolai lantsov believes falling in love is like lying naked in a field of roses. love makes you vulnerable, pricks your skin and bleeds your heart dry and then maybe, just maybe, you can seek comfort in the gentle caress of the blood red petals.
nikolai lantsov is not weak because nikolai lantsov craves love, he is one of the few who dare.
nikolai lantsov is falling for the saint with the golden light and only hopes there's someone to save him.

Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Shadow and Bone (TV), The Grisha Trilogy - Leigh Bardugo
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: The Darkling | Aleksander Morozova/Alina Starkov, Ivan/Fedyor Kaminsky
Characters: Ivan (The Grisha Trilogy), Original Children of The Darkling | Aleksander Morozova and Alina Starkov
Additional Tags: Unsaid verse, Sankt Ivan The Long Suffering, Fluff, Humor, Boys Will Be Boys, some historical references because it's me
Series: Part 34 of Terrible, Beautiful, Unsaid Things
Summary:
Ivan still remembered the profound disappointment he felt when Nadya was born. She was, after all, just a girl, and girls were, well, not exactly useless, but boring, finicky, overly sensitive, prone to tantrums, and just infinitely less preferable than boys. Or so he had thought.
Saints, what a fool he had been.
*
Boys will be boys (even tsareviches), and Sankt Ivan The Long Suffering might not survive that on the long run
A lighthearted Unsaid-verse ficlet

he knew the greatness wouldn't last, after all it is the destiny of the stars to collapse
nikolai lantsov's prayer
warnings : none
for more : masterlist
a/n : I haven't gotten the chance to read the books yet so this is based on my interpretation of what could happen in the show's storyline. the line ' it's the destiny of the stars to collapse' isn't mine, I read it somewhere long ago and i can't remember where
a silent prayer falls from his lips as he kneels in front of the golden altar of the saints, moonlight seeps in through the rose coloured glass on the windows, casting a haunting glow across his face.
he laughs to himself, he knew the greatness wouldn't last, after all it is the destiny of the stars to collapse. he wonders if his whole life he was just making up for who he was going to be, if all his good deeds were to make up for all the misery he is going to cause. he wonders if his name is still worth remembering.
he used to have stardust in his soul but now he can feel the monster sinking its jaws into his rotting flesh, charring his bones, grinding them to dust. he can feel his soul fading, it's being replaced by dark edged desire. his heart thumps against his ribcage, it's trying to leave too. his brain is turning to sap and his blood burns with unforgiving rage and hatred.
this isn't him, he knows that.
he prays to the saints to just give him just one more day to live, to let him serve his nation, be the king ravka deserves before the sun sets forever. but as always, his whispered prayers are met with deaf ears
so he screams, have I not given everything?

When I read the books of the Grishaverse years ago I wrote a post here on tumblr and I must have deleted or something because I can't find it so I'm writing it again.
It's so heartwarming to me that every male/main-love interest in the Grishaverse essentially gives up something that are very dear or important to them to their respectively female-love interests by the end of each book. As in:
By the end of S&B, Mal gave up his life for Alina. Quite literally something dear/important to him, I would say. The child literally looked his love in the eyes and said If it's my life you need, kill me them. It's yours.
By the end of SoC, Kaz gives Inej two very important things: First, her freedom. He is essentially letting her go even before knowing she would make the conscious decision of not giving up on Ketterdam and Kaz. I will have you without your armor, Kaz Brekker, or I won't have you at all, remember? Kaz loves Inej and still he loves her enough to not hold her in a city she clearly despises. He buys her freedom and a ticket to be as far away from Ketterdam and essentially him as possible.* Also, he gives her - literally in the last scene of Crooked Kingdom - the gift of physical touch and that says a lot on its own.
The icing on the cake: By the end of Rule of Wolves Nikolai makes the grand gesture of giving Zoya his kingdom, ending a dynasty for her. The Lantsov founded Rakva and yet he looked Zoya in the eyes, KNEELED TO THE GROUND and said If I one day become King it's because I marry you, and not the other way around. Yep, Yep, long live the Dragon Queen, Nikolai Lantsov.
Leigh Bardugo made many mistakes. The main male love interests were not one of them.
*Kaz eventually realizes Inej is not giving up on him or Ketterdam but my point still stands.

- 4 May 2023: Shadow and Puns -
I'm back after my vacation! I made little something for my good friend @katherinelilac featuring her OC; Katherine and Sadie. Sitting down and sharing jokes as a belated birthday gift~
I credit Katherine for introducing me to the Grisha Universe or more specifically, the Six of Crows. With that said, I figured I should share some dumb thoughts;
Wanna know which part did Nina love? Matt's tight ass
What other profession do you think Kaz can do? A Deal Bre-a-kker really works with those "Dirty Hands"
Why did Jesper ask for a Demolition Man? So he could have a Wayl-in to match his showmanship skills~
Wanna know what Mal could use to quicken his rescue mission? An A-line-a Starkov map.
What do you call the other side of the Fold? The Darkling Side
Inej was right to want all of Kaz or none at all because he truly is a Heart Brekker
This post uses [Pesky Petunia]
I hope to do more as some of my friend's birthdays are coming along in the next few months. I'm ready to work again, the fog is slightly clearing and I'm pumped!
Still a lot to work on but I'm enjoying every bit of the process. Expect more soon~ Until then, Happy belated Birthday Kat, have a good one!
Thanks for reading
