🔴 Red- What is a trait your OC has that those around them don't see very often? Is it seen by a rare few or completely overlooked?

Zarr: his melancholy and nostalgia. He hypocritically preaches "what is dead is dead, past is past and dwelling on it will only bring you down" but he drags the dead weight of his past along with himself, his heavy heart grounds him in some sense but inevitably it is just what it is - a burden. He doesn't let anyone in besides very few privileged ones, so only one who's aware of his internal turmoil is his wife Rita. and maybe Butcher knows but does not talk about it.

Rita: her aggressivity. She's not naturally an angry person, dare I say she's the calmest of them all actually but she has a tendency to bottle things up and she rarely flies off the handle ...so boy when she does get mad MAD heads start "falling off". Besides that, the actual hidden trait would be her two-facedness. She has an image of a good and approachable person about her but she wouldn't be the big boss of the underground assassination scene if she was all unicorns and rainbows.

🟡 Yellow- What is something your OC wants but knows they can never have? How does it feel to never get this specific desire?

Tsu: something something never shooting his shot with Zarr when he had the change when they were young something something buried first love something something always the right-hand man and close companion nothing more something something just being happy by your side something something gay 🫵

Emi: perhaps it's just in a poet's nature to long for something, to yearn for something more, anything beyond what you have now. Yes, she's the richest she's ever been. She has all the comforts that soothe her whims and needs. Yet she wants more and more. Maybe what she actually desires is the familiarity of her youth, the bad smell of a shady tavern, the sweet taste of her lover's lips- ANYWAY

🟢 Green- What is considered a weakness in your OC that is actually a strength? What is a strength in your character that can be twisted into a weakness?

Sister Fiona: some may say her weakness is her religiousness? ((I hc that the AnS universe runs on multiple gods type of system but even though, Fiona and the underground's main "religion" is pretty pagan. She's a nun/cleric of Somni, goddess of night travelers, thieves and whatnot.)) Even though Fiona does not act as a proper "nun" she has set values and doctrines she follows, which may restrict her sometimes. Lacking freedom and dedicating your life to a god (even tho the god is extremely well respected) can be seen as a weakness if not a burden in the eyes of the underworld. For Fiona her belief is her strength, ofc not as big big of a strength as her sword but still...Her dedication is what fuels her in life. Also being a nun of Somni means you are automatically respected and nobody picks a fight with you so yeah.

Roslyn: her independence is her strong suit. She wouldn't be a fearsome pirate captain without being as independent as her at such a young age. Naturally, too much independence turns into a hindrance. Distrust and loneliness are her two close friends.

🎱 8 Ball- What situation was your OC lucky to escape from or get out of? What or who helped them unexpectedly?

Nokaru: long story short - getting abandoned by Obi, being held and tortured by a rival clan for a few months was less that ideal for her development. She got out, by herself, with no help. She walked all the way back to her clan's headquarters like nothing happened. She's not lucky, she's just competent.

Emi AGAIN cause I love her: Emi's life is just a series of unfortunate events, from getting out of her overbearing, manipulative patron's estate to managing to "take care" of a corrupt almost-husband and his family's sick marriage plan Emi has seen it all when it comes to Tanbarun aristocracy. What helped her get out of all the misfortune in her life were her ambitions for riches and recognition. Also her very nice but very shady and scheming ex-boyfriend (Tom tommyboy 👈 Obi's older bro)

You know how with cousins there is absolutely the age gap groups? The group that gets to sit at the adult table first vs the group that's gonna be at the kids table for the next decade?

I’m listening to MAG 32 and thinking about Fiona almost became a Hive. After being rejected by their family after coming at as nonbinary and lesbian and beginning their transition, they moved across the country for nursing school. They weren’t coping well with their depression, and they were completely alone: no friends, no family, nothing. They were so desperate for affection and love, and that (along with their background in working with Infection Control) made them so susceptible to the Corruption and the Hive specifically.

Meeting Kade saved their life, a fact that Fiona fully acknowledges despite Kade’s protesting. (Which makes the fact they couldn’t save Kade from the Hunt more devastating to them.) Them running into each other was a chance. Kade was already going after the Hive, Fiona got in the way, the Hive almost killed both Fiona and Kade, and they managed to lure it out of the hospital. Fiona was the one who ended up killing the thing (drowned the Hive in a retention pond near the hospital) when it was distracted by Kade. Both of them have scars from the encounter, particularly on their hands and arms.

After killing the Hive, hospital admin, the CDC and the Usher Foundation got involved. Fiona and Kade were checked out, patched up, and cleared. The director of the Foundation, Dr. Hayes, approached them both and offered them positions at the Foundation and, more importantly, answers to the questions they had. Fiona and Kade had bonded quite a bit by then, and they both refused the offer. They recovered together, and a year and a half later, they’d both recovered enough to reconsider Dr. Hayes’ offer. That’s how they ended up with the Foundation and the Archives specifically. Castillo had been the Archivist for a while now and needed some new assistants, especially ones who’d proven themselves competent and quick on their feet. About a year after that, Andrea began working at the Archives. It was the three of them and Castillo for the next five and a half years until Elijah started working for the Archives.

Enoch:

As I’ve been discussing with @necromancers-incorporated (who is lovely by the way), Enoch is actually a somewhat recent addition to Miss P’s kids! His loop got raided by the wights, so sometime in the last 80 (?) years. He was really close with at least one of the other kids there and they died in the raid, leaving him more closed off than before. He’s really worried about an other wight raid on Miss P’s loop (which would probably cause a panic attack in the first book when the Miss Avocet shows up to warn of the raid on her loop).

Fiona & Hugh:

I’ve talked about this a little before, but I like to hc Hugh as Rromani (Kale, to be specific) and I think Fiona lived with Hugh and his family for a little while before they moved in with Miss P. Not sure under what circumstances they went to Miss P, but I think Hugh’s family was accepting of him and Fiona being peculiar, maybe they even had other family members who were. Also. Fiona’s Jewish.

Fiona/Maya Headcanon Post

my first HC post for miona disappeared so i had to remake this >:/ but now its split into this (reasons Why i like them together) and a part 2 i'll post later which is just the fluffy stuff from before

• On Fiona's side, the attraction is purely physical at first. She takes one look at Maya and feels like a rugs been yanked out from under her feet, she's dangerous and beautiful (maybe not so immediately intimidating as Athena, but there's no doubting from a glance that Maya is deadly)

• Which is p much Fiona's biggest kryptonite really. She's a con artist who can fill any role needed for job with the snap of her fingers, but put her in front of a pretty woman who could kick her ass and suddenly she's just Fiona again

• Which is like...kinda refreshing for Maya. She's bored to death of everyone's first and only impression of her being "Oh a Siren", whereas Fiona's thought process (which was undoubtedly written all over her face) went more like 1. TALL 2. Ripped, like absolutely shredded oh shit 3. Those are neat tatt- 4. Hey Wait A Sec

• Maya, on the other hand, looked at Fiona and saw someone with an interesting story to tell. She just knew instinctively that this was someone she'd love to sit and talk to over drinks for hours

• and I mean yeah, there was physical attraction too, how can anyone look at Fiona and not go heart eyes?

• I think Maya was always going to need someone who could keep up with her, being a Siren and being a Vault Hunter are two very Big things in Borderlands

• and Fiona needed someone who was bigger than her, more thematically imposing than just a con artist. She didn't like the relationships she was in where she was the only Interesting one

• Plus Vault Hunting just really got into her veins after the traveller, so sort-of dating sort-of being taught by Maya just really made sense

• They also fit together perfectly in the sense that Maya tends to always be the level-headed one of whatever group she's working with, while Fiona is...well, the wildcard (she's smart, but fuck if she doesnt make bad decisions on a whim and need someone to drag her ass back to safety)

• Fiona tries so hard to be the cool one and impress Maya whenever they're out on a job, but no Maya is the badass and Fi is just the dork whose head-over-heels for her

• They also help each other in the sense that they're kind of opposite ends of the "orphan" spectrum too

• Maya was raised by the Brotherhood and absolutely has a lot of PTSD from that upbringing. She goes to Pandora to learn about who she is as a Siren, but has nothing and no one left that she can call family (before the events of bl2 that is)

• Whereas Fiona always had Sasha, and then had Felix for a good while. She was lucky enough to have something to hold onto even into her adulthood while still struggling w the whole raising herself and her sister thing

• It's something they can relate to within each other and help in their different stages of recovery, while also showing that neither upbringing is the sole Reason they became the people they are (Maya arguably had the worse childhood and ended up a hero, while Fiona had a luckier one and ended up a criminal). they just have a whole lot of baggage and it helps to have a partner who understands that

• Also if you ship them, then they get to go on double dates with Zer0/Rhys

• Also also Ava is like...a Very good mix of the two of them which means they can work together to parent their troublesome adopted daughter

• but that is like a Whole Other hc post I could go on and on about

tldr: Maya and Fiona make great parallels for one another and are in love that is all

Fav thing about them: cool design, cool story, and i like that there were so many little hints about who she is scattered throughout the game (“phaseshift”, her holding back from swearing, etc)Least fav thing about them: she’s also really boring?? she doesn’t feel like much of a character on her own and more of a plot device than a person. not that it’s her fault of course, jack was the one who kept her locked up and had her guide the vh’s, it just means it’s harder for me to really like her.Fav line: “I’unno”brOTP: ??she calls claptrap a funny little robot?? idkOTP: her and fiona (really hope she’s an adult but i’m p sure she’s at least 20, it’s hard to tell cuz her actor looks like an adult but her model looks like a 16 yr old)nOTP: gai/ngel; i don’t like either of them and don’t really see them working. they’re both young girls, that’s about it :/Random headcanon: idk if this is really a hc, but i think it’d be a cool idea if each sirens’ tattoos were unique to them and changed as they used their powers. like using them more would make them darken over time and become more prominent, but not using them would make them fade a little and blend into the skin. also stronger sirens would have more complicated tattoos and the tattoo pattern would be determined by what their powers are. so like angels would be a bit more robotic looking since her powers seem to relate to technology. or!! if siren’s powers could be artificially altered so that angel had just environmental manipulation but jack somehow altered or enhanced her powers through technology and her tattoos which were more natural shaped, like the others, started to change and become a mix between natural and robotic.Unpopular opinion: her story, aesthetic, and design is great for cool art, but it also makes a lot of the art of her seem the same since they all follow the same general theme. there’s just not much to her character to build off of :/Song I associate with them: i’unnoFavorite picture of them: that one cosplay of her and jack with the big wings…idk where it is
