Colombo: Season 1 + Pilots (1968, 1971-72)

This is a very good season that gives the series a nice start. The inverted whodunnit stories are engaging and play with the audience in exciting ways. There are some great moments of suspense throughout the series and the direction brings energy that stands out among tv movies of the time. The character of Columbo is very endearing and this leads to some levity that works with the series' tone. Peter Falk is fantastic here and the guest stars are a who's who of reliable character actors from this era. This is a good season that is worth watching for fans of cozier murder mysteries.

He tends to be a very dramatic person, who descends into comically exaggerated producing-tissues-from-the-void-and-sobbing-while-reciting-sad-Shakespeare-lines levels of theatrics at the slightest provocation. He's the brains of the group and the one they all turn to for technical knowledge and gadgets. Batman:The World fell apart…Where are we sitting on that?

M. Kowalski:Earth is Geologically Stable, the Destruction of Earths’ Spirit on the other hand…

Batman:Understood, should we assign someone to Amity Park?

M.Kowalski: Only if you feel the need to, Phantom won’t be graduating for a few years yet but if and when that time comes I’ll let ya know. If you want the League to be more prepared for Spooky hijinx like this, well this is likely the safest place to learn.

This Is Us Series by AuKestrel: how was the decision reached between Kowalski and Fraser to embark on the quest for the Hand of Franklin?

Near Wild Heaven Series by AuKestrel: This was, almost literally, the first thing I wrote, and certainly the first long thing I ever wrote. (Coming to Terms was the first "short" story I wrote and posted.) I worked on this off and on for over a year and did not write it in any kind of linear fashion. The first part was actually finished last, in part because I was stuck in getting them to a plausible misunderstanding that was necessary for the plot (such as it was). It's rough, and could have done with more work, although I did fix a lot of the (popular at the time, I swear!) dialect.

I'm posting it in part because I had SUCH a great time writing it (in fact, there are still parts of it that make me laugh), because I learned so much by/while writing it, and also because it's sort of "historical": a lot of the tropes in dS fandom did not exist when this was written (hard to believe, but there were only 27 F/K stories on Hexwood when I came into the fandom, and only about 5 of those had any kind of M/M sex!), and I thought it would be fun for other people to see how we earlier writers managed such things as tropes before they were tropes. But, in essence, you are about to read a "first novel," with all the alarm bells that ought to ring in your head.
