❤: who is more affectionate in public? in private?

idk about you but personally i don’t get the impression that either of them are exceptionally publicly affectionate.  it just doesn’t feel like their vibe.  i think ultimately, i would have to say lacey, because i imagine colton to be pretty chaste in a True Southern Gentleman kind of way you’ll maybe catch him slipping and initiating a Hand Hold but that’s about it. in private, i think colton is affectionate in just a mindless wanting to be close kind of way, i can see him being more touchy than in public for sure, so i may say him there.

💙: who is more protective?

i think colton is in like again a chivalrous Gentleman-ly kind of way. he really isn’t a sexist i promise i just think he romanticizes like the idea of being a little more old fashioned not because he thinks lacey needs to be protected or because she can’t protect herself, because the fact that she is capable like that is one of his favorite things about her. he just thinks its right and respectable for him to have her back and stand up in support of her.

colton. i think from what we’ve said about them,  i get the impression that colton was the one crushing on her more in high school when they started going out lacey was not more jaded persay but more cautious about romantic relationships because of her parents and their history,  whereas colton was less inhibited and also just a pretentious Words person once he was sure they were on the same page and moving forward i don’t think he would have a problem saying it first.

🌟  what is my muse’s sexual/romantic orientation?

colton’s bi surprise.  it’s not something that he’s particularly forthcoming about,   but it isn’t a secret either.   he doesn’t mention it just in that southern gentleman way where he doesn’t make a habit of talking about his sex life,   not because of his partners or identity,   but just because he doesn’t do that.

💬  when did my muse go on their first date?

colton’s first date was with lacey,   the fall of their freshman year.   he took her to barbecue on the river,   a local festival for food vendors to come and help raise money for charity.   it’s an end of summer tradition and a big deal in their parts,   and he thought it was making a big move.   yeah both of their families were there and pretty much every other person they ever knew,   but they split off from the group and enjoyed pulled pork nachos and listened to live music and it was just one of those nice little moments when you’re fourteen and getting to do things on your own at Last.

💋 how many people has my muse slept with?

three.  lacey,  a guy he tried to rebound with when he first moved to st louis (yeah maybe i will godmod and say it was nolan),  and a one night stand.   he just realized that the hook-up Scene wasn’t really his thing,   and he’s dated a little since moving to st louis,   but hasn’t really gotten serious enough with anyone for it to go that far.

7♠️ - what’s a hard truth that your muse has to learn/has learned?

i guess just that sometimes you must do the thing that is good for you and your Growth even when it isn’t the easy thing to do.   he wonders sometimes,   how his life could be different,   and in some ways,   better,   if he’d stuck around his hometown and just made it work there.   but,   ultimately,   he chased his bliss and he feels like he’s gonna be better off for it in the long run.

9♣️ - what is your muse’s proudest accomplishment?

tying into the one above he’s proud of the fact that he’s in grad school right now and pursuing something that makes him really genuinely happy instead of just settling for doing what he can to get by in his hometown.   between the factory,   the farm,   and the school,   he had enough connections that he plausibly could have made it work and figured something out but he got up and left and looked for better than making it work and he feels like that’s an accomplishment.

Q♥️ - who is someone special that your muse thinks about?

yeah we know its miss lacey.   especially now that they’re both in st louis,   he’s even more sure that fate is slowly working her way to bringing them back together,   boyfriend or no boyfriend.   she’s just a very special lady to him and he tries his best to let her have her space and do her things but he can’t just let her Really not be a part of his life.   whether they’re together or not,   she’s family.

intellectual pursuits?

he likes to think of most of his life as one big Intellectual Pursuit.   colton is pursuing his masters in history and in a perfect world,   he’d love to go on to get his phd down the road.   even when he was back home,   he’s always found learning and pursuing knowledge as a way to grow and think beyond his little world in barlow.   his concentrated area of study is american history specifically as it pertains to the frontier and westward expansion.

favorite book genre?

he’ll read just about anything,   but he’s got a soft spot for horror novels.   they’re not always the highest brow,   he’ll usually claim he prefers something else if he’s trying to impress,   but he finds the actual writing within horrors fascinating,   and thinks they’re a lot more impressive than horror movies.

biggest and smallest long term goal?

he wants to one day be a professor.   he’d love to teach and continue to do his own research and writing in his field and eventually publish some kind of book relating to his work,   to get that big tangible fruit of his labors,   so that’s probably his biggest long term goal.   smallest would be to quit biting his nails.   it’s something he’s learned to live with at this point,   something he’s always meant to stop doing,   but it’s a mindless habit he has a hard time kicking.

what activities do they enjoy,   but consider to be a waste of time?

he doesn’t play as much anymore,   but he did enjoy baseball when he played through high school.   he likes video games,   casual birdwatching,   and binge watching pawn shop tv shows.   he tries to not frame anything as a waste of time,   but he knows all of these things are less than productive.

01. where was your character born? what brought them to st louis? what do they like most about the town?

colton was born in barlow,  kentucky.   he came to st louis for grad school.   on the surface,   its why he came to st louis specifically.   in general though,   he was brought to anywhere out of barlow just because small town life just simply isn’t for him.   he likes st louis because it represents potential.   it’s all the excitement and change and opportunity he’s been looking for,   even now,   after being settled here a few years.

02. who are your character’s friends and family? who do they surround themselves with? who are the people your character is closest to?

colton’s immediate family consists of his parents and his sister,  and,  by extension,   her family.   he gets along well enough with his parents,   even if they don’t always see eye to eye on certain things.   he’s closer with his sister and spends a decent amount of his weekends loitering around her place,   hanging out with her kids.   he surrounds himself mostly with his classmates,   enjoying the conversation that comes from like minded people,   even if they can’t always relate to him.   he’s closest with his sister,   or his grandfather,   whom he calls at least once a week,   more in the rare event that he’s homesick.   pa may not always get what colton’s going on about but he tries and that’s what matters.

03. what is your character’s biggest fear? who have they told this to? who would they never tell this to? why?

colton’s biggest fear is that he’ll always be Yearning for more.   he feels pretty satisfied in st louis,   but he also once felt satisfied in the town he did undergrad in,   and his hometown,   but he always ends up ready for something more.   he comes from the kind of place where you’re supposed to have deep roots,   to live on the land that your family has lived on for ages,   and he really does wish that was enough for him.   it’d make things easier.   but he always wants to be moving and growing and really is afraid he’s going to miss out on getting just like happy,  simple,   domestic times because of that.   he wants more out of life than his town had to offer,   but he didn’t want to abandon the idea of family and home completely.   he’d never tell his family this,   because he feels like he’s got to keep some kind of strong face,   for #toxicmasculinity reasons just as much as needing to prove that he made the right choice in leaving.

04. has your character ever been in love? had a broken heart?

yeah colton had a high school sweetie.   her name was lacey,   they started dating when they were fourteen,   fresh into high school,   went to the same place for undergrad,   lived back home together for a year,   and then called it quits when colton decided to go back to school and move to st louis.   she’s his first and only Real Love,   but,   she got a job teaching at their high school,  and was ready to just settle into living in their hometown again.   even when they decided they could make long distance work while he was at school,   he knew he wouldn’t be able to just finish up in st louis and move back.   yeah it broke his heart a bit but he ended things a week before he headed out.   hurt like hell but maybe deep down he does still imagine that something will happen and they’ll get back together without him moving home one day,   you know,   like an idiot.

06. it’s saturday at noon. what is your character doing? give details.

again,   he likes to fuck around with kyleigh and her kids on the weekends.   when he moved,  it was never to get away from his family,  just the place,   and it’s nice to have them around and still be able to hang out with the kids and stuff.  if he’s not with them,   he’s probably reading.   fucking nerd.

07. what is one strong memory that has stuck with your character since childhood?

back when their grandfather was a little more Spry,   whenever spring came,   he’d go on long meandering walks out in the woods on sunday mornings  ( before church ).   he had never been a hunter,   or a fisher,   it wasn’t anything like that,   just a nice little walk.   when he was like 12 colton decided he needed to be his annoying tag along who probably ruined the purpose of the walks by breaking how quiet and serene the woods were that early,   but pa just ran with it.   they’d talk about whatever came up and it made colton feel special to be a part of something that had always been a special ritual every spring.

09. what is something that upsets your character? where do they go when they’re upset?

i feel like it takes a lot to actually upset him.   he’s pretty chill.   smaller things,   he’s pretty good at just brushing off and moving on from.   he’s upset by like rational things  ( assholes, people coming for his family, questioning his choices )  i guess can’t relate.  he still finds walks in the Woods comforting,   good for clearing your mind,   but most likely he just tries to distract himself with a book or some mindless tv  ( yeah he has a few pawn shows bookmarked for this exact reason ).

10. when your character thinks of their childhood kitchen, what smell do they associate with it? why?

whatever the smell is,   it’s heavy.   something meaty and greasy that would be accompanied by starchy,   weighty sides and some kind of bread,   because that’s what makes a meal,   obviously.   they’ve always been a big dinner around the supper table kind of family.  porkchops,   cube steak,   and chicken anyway you could have it were all on frequent rotation.
