We're each stuck in a universe where the other doesn't exist and we each get to see a world where we're together and happy (watching doctor Zayne and MC living the dream, always on the outside looking in), and just like him we know it can never be cuz we're stuck in a universe where we can never meet... I just finished catching up on the newest bits of Doctor Who and. Well. At first I wasn't sure I was gonna like it. I was curious what RTD would do the second time around and I love Ncuti Gatwa, but what I saw from the trailers and screenshots... I didn't like the new polished look and the cgi is a bit much. The Christmas Special wasn't very convincing either. (Idk, I just didn't like it.)

But! Then the actual series started and I loved it! Ruby - who I at first judged as a Rose knock-off - was actually very different from Rose. As an individual character and in her relationship with the Doctor. They gave more besties vibes (like the Doctor and Donna did) than tragic lovers and while Rose was in it for the action & adventure, Ruby seemed to be in it for the wonder. Less action junkie, more art museum if you know what I mean.

There were some really good episodes with good themes and messages which could've been subtler but oh well. You don't get Disney sponsered pro-choice messages everyday.

Considering this series in the context of it being a soft reboot it was a solid series. Ruby might be coming back in the future, there weren't any too convoluted overarching plots, they didn't overuse old Doctor Who tropes (Dalek attack, Cyberman invasion, etc.), they already introduced this mystery character (Ruby's neighbour) and I can't be the only one who thinks Rogue will be back at some point, right?

I hope we get to keep this Doctor for another series or two, maybe with some exciting companions. They also seem more willing to include more character from Classic Who these days, that could be fun. So yeah, I'm excited about this!
