It's no longer Halloween where I live, but anyway: Dictionary.com (of all places) had a contest guest-judged by my childhood hero, R.L. Stine. It was to write the first 50 words of a story involving a haunted house.
Sadly, neither of my entries won, but I thought I'd post them here just for fun.
Entry #1:
"Those who enter Strongmore Manor will haunt its halls forever."
I can vouch for that. I sneaked in for a dare in 1986, becoming the lucky thirteenth victim of Gregor Strongmore's curse.
I watch as another group of kids creep through the door. As if this place wasn't crowded enough.
Entry #2:
Steven could tolerate his roommates at first. The piercing screams, slamming doors and visions of hanged bodies were a small price to pay for buying a Victorian mansion so cheaply.
Then they took his cookies.
The cookies CLEARLY labeled with HIS name.
"That's it!" he screamed. "I'm calling an exorcist!"

What are the winning numbers for the Mega Millions lottery, on November 22nd, 2022?
There is an ancient saying that goes, "if you don't play, you can't win," and this is true even if the odds of being struck by lightning are far higher than the odds of winning a game of poker. Despite this, you shouldn't let this stop you from testing your luck at the casino. Have a look at the winning numbers from the lottery that took place on Tuesday.
The jackpot for the Powerball game that was up for grabs earlier this month and was worth $2 billion is going to make the reward for the Mega Millions game that will be given on November 22 seem like little change in comparison. On the other hand, if the winner of today's drawing is the lucky one who matches all six numbers, they will be handed the stunning amount of $132.1 million cash option as their prize.
An ancient proverb asserts that "if you don't play, you can't win," regardless of whether or not the odds are in your favour.
The grand prize for the Mega Millions Game The multi-state, multi-jurisdictional lottery game known as Mega Millions in the United States is currently accessible in 45 of the 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia and the United States Virgin Islands, as of the 30th of January, 2020. The game wasn't played for the first time in 1996; before, it had been known simply as The Big Game. Six years later, in 1992, they gave it a temporary name change to The Big Game Mega Millions. The first drawing for Mega Millions, sometimes referred to as "The Big Game," was held in the year 2002; for further details, continue reading below. Six separate states were the first to offer the lottery game that would later become known as Mega Millions to interested participants. After the name The Big Game was retired, the logo for all versions of the game featured a ball in a gold colour with six stars to represent the game's initial membership. However, some lotteries inserted their own logo into the ball, so the logo may have varied slightly depending on the version of the game you played.
When the jackpot is being publicised, it is sometimes portrayed as a minimal sum that will be paid out in annual instalments. This is reflective of a common practise among lotteries in the United States. If a jackpot winner chooses the cash value option, which is the more typical of the two options, they will be given a sum that is approximately comparable to the value of the instalments at this point in time. The previous version of Mega Millions began on October 19, 2013, and the first drawing for the game was held three days after that date. In the current version of Mega Millions, players need to match 5 of 70 white balls and the gold-colored "MegaBall" from the second field of 25 numbers in order to win (5/70 / 1/25). The "MegaBall" is drawn from the second field of numbers.
The winning Mega Millions ticket was bought in South Carolina, and the winning jackpot amount was $1.537 billion for the drawing that took place on October 23, 2018. The drawing was held on October 23, 2018. This was the only occasion that the jackpot was ever won, and it was the biggest prize in the game's whole existence.
The numbers that were selected as winners on Tuesday :
Tonight at 11 o'clock Eastern Time, we will publish an update on the winning lotto numbers for the drawing that took place on November 22. The drawing took place on November 22.
This was the only occasion that the jackpot was ever won, and it was worth more than any other prize in the game's entire existence. In the lottery that took place on Friday, what were the winning numbers, and when can I expect to receive them?
The numbers 2-14-16-38-66, as well as the 9 Mega Ball, were selected on November 18 as the winners of the Mega Millions lottery. For individuals who took part in the activity, the Megaplier was increased by a factor of four.
The prize was given to the winner in March of 2019, although they remained anonymous throughout the process.
Except for on holidays, the drawing for Mega Millions takes place at eleven o'clock at night on Tuesday and Friday (Eastern Time), regardless of the day. The Mega Millions lottery draws are held at the studios of WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. The drawings are supervised by the Georgia Lottery, which is responsible for the lottery. The Mega Millions lottery is run by a consortium that is made up of the original 12 lotteries that participated in the game. Today, your hosts will be John Crow, Carol Blackmon, and Adrian Wolford. Thank you for joining us!
What are the most significant prizes that a player has a chance of winning in Mega Millions?
The most recent Mega Millions jackpot to be won was worth more than $1 billion. It was worth $1.33 billion and was won in Chicago in July of 2022. The jackpot was worth more than $1 billion. The record-breaking jackpot for Mega Millions was won on October 23, 2018, in the state of South Carolina. It was for an astounding 1.54 billion dollars, making it the biggest payout that has ever been won by a single player with a single ticket.
In the Mega Millions game, how much cash is going to be distributed to the winners?
Participants in the Mega Millions lottery must spend a minimum of two dollars for each ticket. However, even if they do not match all six numbers, they still have the chance to win a large amount of money in the event that they do match at least three of the numbers. In the following, you will find a complete description of the several ways to win, along with the chances that are linked with each technique.
There is a one in 302,575,350 chance that you will win the jackpot if you have all five regular balls and the Mega Ball.
If you get five balls, you have a chance of winning $1,000,000, which is 1 in 12,607,306.
There is a one in 931,001 chance that a player will win $10,000 while using four regular balls and the Mega Ball. You have one in 38,792 possibilities to win $500 if you get four of the same balls. There is a one in 14,542 chance that a player will win $200 by matching three balls and the Mega Ball. $10 for three balls, with chances of 1 in 606. The entrance fee is ten dollars, and the chances of winning are one in 693. The price to enter is 10 dollars. The chances of winning are one in 89, and the cost of playing is $4 for one ball and the Mega Ball. The chances of winning with a Mega Ball are 1 in 37, and the Mega Ball costs $2.
In 2022, there will be additional jackpot winners in the Mega Millions game.
To far in the year 2022, there have been a total of six fortunate winners, and the following is a list of their winning tickets:
On October 14, 2022, the sale of tickets in San Jose, California, and Fort Myers, Florida, will bring in a combined total of $502 million (or $252.0 million in cash).
An unnamed partnership will utilise a ticket that was purchased on July 29, 2022 in Des Plaines, Illinois, to win a total of $1.337 billion (or $780.5 million in cash). The ticket was for the Mega Millions lottery game.
A ticket that was purchased in Pegram, Tennessee, on April 15, 2022, will win a total of $20 million (or $11.9 million in cash), and the winner will be an anonymous trust.
On April 12, 2022, a ticket that was purchased in Ramsey, Minnesota, results in a couple from Minnesota winning $110 million with that ticket. The couple will get cash totaling $69.1 million.
On March 8, 2022, Brooklyn, New York citizen Herman Kahan was awarded a total of $128 million, of which $85.8 million was paid out in cash as a result of the winnings.
On January 28, 2022, Kristine Wellenstein was able to win a total of $426 million thanks to the ticket that she purchased in Woodland Hills, California. She might have chosen to get $292.9 million in cash instead.
The cash option of $238 million would come in handy to help beat inflation and would be a nice way to complete the year and the rest of your life given that Thanksgiving is coming up at the end of the month and Christmas is not too far away. I hope you win!

Biggest Slot Machine Payout

Biggest Slot Machine Payout Ever
Biggest Slot Machine Payout In History
She'd won big money before: hitting a $680,000 jackpot on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine, also at the Palace Station. It marked the first time Megabucks had surpassed $20 million. Well, it appears that the biggest slot machine wins also cannot go without Vegas casinos, so the fact that the largest slot machine payout in history happened in one doesn't surprise us at all. The biggest slot machine win of $39 million (and change) went to a 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles who, one day, decided to try his luck.
It only took 20 years, but the Lion’s Share slot machine at MGM Grand finally gave it up. In one of the most followed slots stories of 2014, a New Hampshire couple strolled into the MGM Grand on August 22 and won not only the $2.4 million jackpot, but also the machine itself. The payout finally allowed MGM Grand to decommission the Lion’s Share, which had been there since the casino opened in 1993.
Getting a seven-figure payday is always nice, but it doesn’t come close to being the biggest jackpot in slots history. The really big money comes courtesy of the massive progressive jackpots on the Megabucks machines. This is a network of 60-payline, five-reel slots with around 700 machines at 133 different locations. The odds of hitting the minimum $10-million jackpot in one play are nearly one in 50 million. With that in mind, here are the five biggest Vegas slots paydays on record.
$21.3 Million
Sometimes, all it takes is one spin. On June 1, 1999, a 49-year old self-employed business consultant from Illinois put $10 in the Megabucks machine at Caesars Palace. Moments later, he was over $21 million richer. He also won a $5,000 secondary jackpot. According to a spokesperson for IGT, the company that makes the Megabucks machine, the winner’s first wish was to pay off his credit card debts.
$22.6 Million
The Megabucks kept on flowing on March 27, 2002. Seventy-four-year-old Johanna Huendl of Covina, California put about $170 in the machine at Bally’s on her way to breakfast, and she ended up bringing home the bacon. Huendl, a Vienna native who came to America in 1956, thought at first that she had won a $2-million prize. She was off by one zero.
$27.5 Million
On November 15, 1998, an unnamed 67-year-old retired flight attendant from Vegas was playing the Megabucks machine at Palace Station, and she accidentally put in $300 when she intended to put in $100. She couldn’t have been upset for long because she won the first Megabucks jackpot to top $20-million in history. It wasn’t her first big slots win; she also took down a $680,000 prize playing the Wheel of Fortune machine at the same venue.
Tumblr media
$34.9 Million
The previous record was held by Cynthia Jay-Brennan, a 37-year-old cocktail waitress from Las Vegas who played the Megabucks at the Desert Inn on January 26, 2000. Unfortunately, six weeks later, a drunk driver rear-ended Jay-Brennan’s Camaro, leaving her a quadriplegic and her sister dead. The 58-year-old driver was given 28 to 92 years in prison.
$39.7 Million
On March 21, 2003, a 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles (who chose to remain anonymous) put $100 in the Megabucks machine at the Excalibur. He ended up winning the biggest jackpot ever, paid out in 25 annual instalments of $1.5 million each.
You may have seen the news story a few years ago about a woman in Queens, New York who almost won the largest slot machine jackpot in history. Unfortunately, the nearly $43 million win was a machine malfunction that went well above the $6,500 max payout.
A new record may not have been set, but there have been a number of huge casino jackpots throughout history. If you’re gearing up for a trip to Vegas or a casino party, check out these stories of life-changing, mind blowing jackpot wins.
Biggest Slot Machine Jackpots
Think you can’t get lucky on a slot machine twice? In 1998 a retired flight attendant proved that lightning can strike twice at the casinos. The unnamed woman first won $680,000 on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Palace Station. She decided to keep trying her luck and months later she won $27 million on a Megabucks machine at the same casino!
Elmer Sherwin is undoubtedly a lucky guy. He also hit not one but two of the largest slot machine jackpots in history! The first win of $4.6 million was on a Megabucks slot machine at the Mirage in 1989. Sherwin decided to visit Cannery Casino in North Las Vegas in 2005 to test his luck again. There he won again on a Megabucks slot machine, but this time he walked away with $21.1 million. Mr. Sherwin was in his 90s when he hit his second jackpot.
A few years early a 25-year-old software engineer won the highest slot machine payout in history. In 2003 the young man won $39.7 million playing a Megabucks machine at Excalibur. He decided to take an annual $1.5 million payout for 25 years instead of one lump sum payment. That means he’ll be raking in the dough for another decade.
In 2000 Cynthia Jay scored the largest jackpot at the time. She won nearly $35 million at a Megabucks slot machine in the Monte Carlo Casino in Vegas. But less than two months later Jay was in a horrible car wreck that killed her sister and left Jay paralyzed from the chest down.
In August 2016 a resident of Hawaii came to the mainland for a Vegas vacation and traveled back home with a lot more money. What was really impressive is that the woman was playing penny slot machines at the Wynn casino when she won $10,777,270.51.
While it isn’t the biggest slot machine jackpot win in history, a Florida man identified as only Fred S. did get very lucky in July 2018. He hit not one but two big jackpots at the Hard Rock Biloxi within a matter of minutes. First, Fred got a massive $1,291,918 win with a $20 bet. While he waited on the casino to verify the win he got a $14,000 win on another slot machine to bring the total winnings over $1.3 million.
Biggest Hands at the Poker Table
Hands down, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is where you’ll find the biggest Texas Hold’em jackpots. Once the field gets narrowed down to just two players, a single hand can bring in millions. After 10 hours of heads up poker playing, John Cynn was named the 2018 WSOP winner and received $8,800,000. His opponent Tony Miles didn’t do so bad himself. Even though he lost, Miles received $5 million for second place.
But that wasn’t the biggest payout in the history of the tournament or even that year. Four other WSOP winners have won more:
Jamie Gold - $12 million in 2006
Martin Jacobson - $10 million in 2014
Peter Eastgate - $9,152,416 in 2008
Jonathan Duhamel - $8,944,138 in 2010
In 2018 Justin Bonomo won $10 million in the World Series of Poker's $1 million buy-in Big One for One Drop. But by far the later poker jackpot ever was $18,346,673 when Antonio Esfandiari won the 2012 Big One for One Drop.
Tumblr media
Highest Payouts at the Craps Table
Patricia Demauro is easily one of the most successful craps players in history. In 2009 she famously won 154 consecutive throws while playing at the Borgata in Atlantic City. The actual amount was never disclosed, but based on the minimum buy-in of $10 the payout would likely range from well over six figures up to $1 million or more.
Not long ago a player won over $5.3 million at the Tropicana Casino and Resort, mainly at the craps tables. The unidentified man had a 6-hour hot streak, but he had to bet big to win the millions. At one point he was placing $100,000 bets.
Huge Win at the Roulette Wheel
Biggest Slot Machine Payout Ever
In 2004 Ashley Revell made a huge gamble. He sold everything he owned, headed to Vegas and put his entire life savings on a spin of the roulette wheel. Crazy – yes. But it paid off. Revell put just over $135,000 on a red bet and won over $270,000. The whole thing was filmed and eventually became a short reality show called Double or Nothing.
Biggest Blackjack Winners
The most infamously successful blackjack players were a group of MIT students who used card counting to win around $100 million. However, this situation was unique because the mathematical geniuses worked as a team so their winning streaks wouldn’t get noticed by dealers.
But one man bested the MIT players. Gambler Don Johnson made millions at blackjack tables over a six-month period in 2011. Instead of card counting, Johnson sought out casinos that had the most favorable rules, like being able to split a hand up to four times.
Another thing Johnson looked for were casinos that offered a guaranteed payout, which refunds part of what’s lost on a hand. All that research paid off to the tune of $15 million in half a year of playing.
A billionaire by the name of Kerry Packer also won big at the blackjack tables. During a trip to Vegas in 1997 he reported won somewhere in the range of $20-40 million. The winnings came from a combination of black jack and baccarat.

This Round 11 was a calm before a storm... at least, I sure hope so! We’re going into Wordy Weekend with a tight score, and hopefully the lacking performance this round and Round 10 is all just a precursor to a massive Round 12.
No use in dragging this out, let’s get to scores! This post is long enough that we need a read more button, banter shall not deviate us from our course.

TEAM TOTAL THIS ROUND: 53 Points
GRAND TOTAL: 862 Points
Now that you’ve skipped past that, stopping only to touch on your team’s score, you’re pretty antsy to find out what our final Wordy Weekend theme is, right?
Well, first, I have to tell you about our penultimate (and best) Wordy Weekend prize, that was awarded last weekend to @zoes-dumb-writings.
I gave her a list of twelve players, with only numbers to identify them. Three of these ‘players’ were in fact duds, and Zoe doesn’t know which ones were duds... so the prizes, in theory, will not be spread out equally.
What are these prizes?
Special, lucrative items that are only available this way, items that will never be in a box, that’s what. Special lucrative items, and everyone is getting one of them.
Let’s introduce you to these items!
brooke item: reverses the effect of a powerup if used within 10 minutes of the powerup’s use. if used after the ten minute window it allows the user to take a small percentage of the powerup, depending on what it is, based on how soon they use the item after the powerup’s use.
jeremy item: takes away 50 points from one team, gives 25 to your team and 25 to the other team besides the one you took the points from.
michael item: rolls a die for effects. 1 and 4 give the user 15 extra points, 2 and 5 gives the user 30 extra points if they reach a certain (randomised) wordcount, 3 and 6 gives the user 15 extra points taken from another player of their choice.
christine item: allows two random players on different teams to swap points, giving them immunity from items being used on them, both from other players and themselves.
brooke item asterisk: this item applies only to the following powerups:
tiaras
swords
+point tickets
houseplants
point sucking items (plasma ray, sapphire stealer, point succ-er, etc)
percentage cut of the powerup’s points:
used between 10-15 minutes later: 50% of points affected by the powerup are given
used between 15-20 minutes later: 30% of points affected by the powerup’s user are given
used between 20-30 minutes later: 25% of points affected by the powerup’s user are given
used between 30-45 minutes later: 15% of points affected by the powerup’s user are given
used between 45-60 minutes later: 10% of points affected by the powerup’s user are given
used between 60-75 minutes later: 5% of points affected by the powerup’s user are given
used more than 75 minutes later: the only effect is that you just wasted your item.
Now that you’ve read that, you’ve picked your favourite item, you’re ready to find out what you got, to see me open your ‘box’ in the server... well, too bad. The recipients of each item have already been chosen by Zoe!
Here’s who’s getting what:
~Jeremy Item~
@zoes-dumb-writings
@im-actually-ok (dropped out)
~Michael Item~
@ouzoa11-writes
@heereigoagain
~Brooke Item~
@nbchristinecanigula
@junietuesday
~Christine Item~
@portinaris
@swagcoolcat
@certifiedboyf
Everyone got One and only One of their assigned item, and this item will not count towards your item limit.
In addition to all this! Everyone is getting 6 boxes today, since there will be no other rounds to use them on. There will be no boxes after this Round 12.
There are also! Two new wordcount levels, Venom and Sun God. Not that I expect anyone to hit them... but just to say I have them.
Venom is 25k, and Sun God is 30k. Venom is worth 40 extra points, Sun God 50. I doubt anyone will get either, not even @ouzoa11-writes. Sun God is 10k every day for three days!
That being said... the 5am cutoff time? Now nonexistent for our final round. The new cutoff time is 11am EST on Monday, giving everyone a little extra time to write.
Alright! Now, I will finally, finally, finally show y’all what this weekend’s theme is!
BATTLE ROYALE WEEKEND!
Tumblr media
This is the Hunger Games weekend in a Be More Chill writing challenge. The difference is that there’s no opening ceremonies, and no crazy costumes, and no child slaughter. This is just pure simulated basic Hunger Games, but with writing, rather than child slaughter.
Here’s how it works:
At least 5 people have to agree to sprint at once. If I’m not among them, make sure you keep track of your rounds!
You must do a 10, 15 or 20 minute sprint (doesn’t matter which, just one of the three. A sprint of any other length doesn’t count). The winner (the person with the highest wordcount) gets 4 points, second place gets 3 points, third place gets 2. Everyone else gets 1 point, except for the person with the lowest wordcount. That person is ‘killed’ and cannot participate in the sprints of this particular Battle Royale anymore.
In the event of a tie for last place or a wordcount difference between the lowest and second lowest players of 10 words or less, nobody is killed. For a tie for a place, both people receive the extra points. There is no wordcount difference rule for placing.
Sprints continue this way until there are only 3 players left, at which point there are no more third place extra points. At 2 players left, the winner of the sprint will receive 5 points, and the loser will be left with nothing but the points they’ve collected thus far, ‘dead’ on the side of the channel.
I’ll keep track of points for battle royales, but if I’m not in one, it would be very nice if you would all write a post at the end with the scores of all the participants so that I’ll see it.
Speaking of which! For CAH Points, I’m giving everyone perms to pin posts, please pin your final leaderboards!
Okay, okay, after aaaalll that, I’m finally ready to give out prompts. There will be new special prompts in the discord (the old ones only count for 5 extra points, now.) and the prompts for this round are worth 4 points apiece. There’s also more than 6 or 3, but there’s no penalty for not using prompts, just that you won’t receive the 4 points for that prompt.

PLEASE DON'T LET ME GO
Tumblr media
Writers: Olly Murs, Claude Kelly and Steve Robson
Producers: FutureCut, Steve Robson
Album: Olly Murs
Release Date: 29/08/2010
B-Side: 'This One's For The Girls' (Writers: Olly Murs, James Bryan, George Astasio, Jason Pebworth, Jon Shave / Producers: The Invisible Men)
Chart Positions: #1 (UK), #2 (Scotland), #5 (Ireland), #31 (Belgium), #35 (Slovakia)
Certifications: Gold (UK, 400k)
And so, from here, we begin our story. Or rather, we begin eight months before that on Sunday, 13th December 2009. 16.2 million watched the final of that year's series of ITV talent show The X Factor, as Olly Murs, a 26 year old call centre worker from Witham, Essex, finished second place in an epic battle for a multi-million pound recording contract and instant superstardom, as affable Geordie with voice of an angel, Joe McElderry, took the grand prize home (except the other crucial element afforded to the winner, namely that year's Christmas number one, with a cookie cutter cover version of Miley Cyrus' hit 'The Climb', was denied of him by a group of angry hardcore rock fans downloading a 15 year old track by Rage Against The Machine. So, if anything, you might say it was a dodged bullet).
X Factor history, and reality TV generally, had taught us up to that point, that beyond the smoke, fanfare and mirrors of the climaxes of these shows, only in very select cases did a long-term career come for the finalists - winners or not. True, Leona Lewis had become the global, worldwide star the show had long been trying to make, and previous series’ finalists JLS and Alexandra Burke had emerged to chart topping singles, mass hysteria and adoration. But most of them usually wound up dropped after the inevitable third or fourth single/difficult second album flopped, to be found thereafter performing on the Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry, or doing panto opposite Orville the duck and disgraced comedian Justin Lee Collins.
Most of them didn't go onto be, as Olly set out in his mission statement on that first audition, 'to be famous, to sell records, and be an international superstar'. But even though he’d been in the front rooms of millions of viewers for a whole three months, no one seemed confident that this cheeky but charming Essex lad was going to become one of the biggest British male solo artists of his generation. Simon Cowell, who was Olly’s mentor in the ‘Over 25s’ category on the show, said that they had gone in with a mission to win. Speaking in 2010, Cowell said: ‘When you’ve lost, words don’t mean an awful lot … And then the next day, I had [Epic Records’ boss] Nick Raphael, who’d signed JLS on the phone, saying “I want Olly”. Perfect.’ Speaking that same year, Nick said: ‘When you meet him, you like him, and like how he is around other people, and it’s very hard for us to find artists who you can like easily.’
Olly finally signed the dotted line on his £1m record deal with Epic in February 2010, just before embarking on The X Factor national arena tour that all the contestants of the previous series appeared on. Nick, along with his long time collaborative A&R partner Jo Charrington, who’d overseen the development and launch not only of JLS, but also Jay-Z, Another Level, Blue, Paloma Faith, and then later on, Sam Smith and 5 Seconds Of Summer, envisaged Olly being his own artist, and to appeal to as broad an audience as possible by taking an active role in his own music and artistry, and not just releasing the stock album of covers on Mother’s Day to remind Doris in Leighton Buzzard of who he was before she moved on with the rest of The X Factor’s audience to the next thing.
Olly was quickly dispatched to writing sessions with several teams and established songwriters and producers. Among these were two men who have been a part of over 50% of the songs we’re going to meet along our journey through his career: New York born and bred superhit writer, Claude Kelly, and top pop producer Steve Robson. Between them, they’d written or produced countless chart-topping singles and albums for everyone, from Whitney Houston to Take That.
youtube
Whilst the search for the sound of his first musical offerings to the world got underway, the cool but contemporary likes of Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson had been topping the charts, and a lilting, reggae influenced pop song by an unknown Australian writer, called ‘Feel Free’, was demoed in early sessions. Although unreleased to this day, sources suggested at the time that it was not a million miles away from Johnson’s own ‘Sitting, Waiting, Wishing’ or Mraz’s ‘I’m Yours’. Olly immediately knew that this was a sound that reflected his personality – upbeat, fun and laidback – and that this was the direction he wanted to go in.
As an introductory record, ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’ might seem like a strange choice with hindsight, certainly compared to later records of Olly’s we’ll meet, being as it is a plea to a former lover not to end things with the hapless, lovelorn soul in the song who’s ‘heart is b-b-beating double time’. Although it does carry a lot of the tropes key to a debut release by a mainstream pop artist. It has an irresistible, catchy chorus with a strong melody. And, at a time when the charts were full of EDM and futuristic, bombastic artists that were worshipped like other worldly creatures, it immediately stood out when it came on the radio.
And then there’s the video. The ‘gate-crashing a party as introduction to a brand-new artist’ trope of pop videos has been utilised for decades – remember the Spice Girls’ video for ‘Wannabe’? At a posh summer garden party at a sprawling country pile, Olly turns up on a Moped adorned in a Harrington jacket, grandad shirt, shades and trilby. If Terry McCann, the title character of 80s TV show Minder had been a popstar, one imagines that Olly in the ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’ video would’ve been the end result.
It’s a clever angle for his first video, because it establishes him outside of his telly roots enough as the relatable underdog taking his first steps into the sprawling country piles and excess that represents the pop industry. It was very different to what was out there, some more toffy nosed might say it was uninvited, but over the song’s duration, he gradually charms its guests (read: we the listeners) into acceptance. Which upon its release at the end of summer 2010, is precisely what Olly achieved with this single. Locked in a chart battle for number one with Katy Perry, one of the biggest and most outlandish popstars of all in 2010, and as big as pop music got at that time – and also crucially, the polar opposite of Olly – sales for the single went through the roof, and it landed straight in at number one in the UK.
For a first single, it does what an introduction should do – announce the artist in just over three minutes, but to leave just enough to have the listener wanting more. A lot of the sensibilities in ‘Please Don’t Let Me Go’ continue to be common features of what makes an Olly Murs record instantly recognisable, as we shall see in the coming weeks. And with ten weeks on the chart, and his first gold record to his name, as well as hitting the charts in four other countries, it was clear that the public wouldn’t be letting go of him anytime soon.
OTHER THOUGHTS
‘This One’s For The Girls’, the song’s B-side, is a fan favourite, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s a good time party track celebrating his love of ‘the girls all around the world’, with a sound more than a little indebted to that of early Jackson 5. Jon Shave, who’d previously worked with top pop producer Brian Higgins at Xenomania, and two former members of 00s indie band Orson had a big hand in the production of the song.

Lucky fortune powerball 엔트리파워볼대중소 numbers could have bad luck
We all played Powerball numbers in a fortune cookie, 엔트리파워볼대중소 분석 figuring it would be decent enough to help win the jackpot finally. But did you ever hear about where the figures come from? Do you really hope they’re tailored to you? Or should they just be massed? If mass is made, it could only be misfortune cookies.
Think of it as I go back to fortune cookies. Most Powerball experts would tell you that random numbers and even better strategies to use numbers other people do not tend to use are a smart idea. The explanation is that if you win a jackpot and many others retain the winning numbers, the jackpot will be split by many winners.
Back to sweets of fortune. Sure, fortunate cookie numbers will end up as the winners; they have the same chance as other numbers are chosen. Although if the fortunes are mass made, hundreds of thousands of other persons will play almost the same cards, which means that you will break the jackpot 메이저 엔트리파워볼대중소 hundreds of times if the numbers used in the cookie are won over. Of course, it is a great luck to win Powerball, but breaking it hundreds of times is poor luck or bad luck.
Consider this. Consider this. In March 2005, Powerball had a second prize paying $200,000 in the United States. At the time, 4-5 people used to win it. This special draw led to 110 winners. The chances are less than one in a trillion, which means it was nearly unlikely. But it did, and there must have been a reason. And it’s been there too. People were playing on the numbers printed on a wealth cookie. This is a good fortune stroke! Perhaps more fortunate, the second prize, regardless of the number of winners, was $200,000. If they had won the $25 million jackpot, it will be divided over 110 sides. Then we’d have to call it a tragedy cookie. 엔트리파워볼
How to Gain the 엔트리파워볼대중소 사이트 Mega Millions
Have you ever considered the reaction of Kansas people if they had a state Powerball of their own? Besides the national Powerball, Kansas has its own Super Cash.
Super Cash, which started in February 2002 with a lot of promise, is by far one of the most profitable two-play cash prizes, also with a guaranteed cash prize of over 100,000 dollars. The candidates choose five numbers from a pool of thirty-two to win the whole prize pool.
When playing the Kansas Powerball, the first premise is that anything will 엔트리파워볼대중소 가입 happen, but only the most apparent incidents will happen first and the least obvious will follow. If the number 17 appears in the last 50 games, it is fair to say that nearly every player has it on their leader.
Winning the Super cash takes a certain knowledge of previous numbers, particularly if a trend has to be drawn to ascertain the winning numbers possible. The numbers accrued at the age of seven sufficient to decide the next winning ticket. The chances of selecting the winning number are nearly one in 2,517,200.
For a guaranteed payout of 100,000 dollars at the table, astute players have a decent shot of having the desired numbers. Given this, most players will use an odd-even routine to measure a high number chance. History 엔트리파워볼대중소 사이트목록 and the use of a single number as a repeat form can determine whether a 3/2 or 2/3 impairment is used. After a replay, a selected random number has a 67 percent probability of being selected.
A high-low split is another viable option for certain teams, but it is nearly impossible to be high or low in size. The same peculiar formula, which involves picking 2 numbers, one to 16 (low) and 3, from 70 to 32 (high), is a great technique to use for a very low combination.
a simple powerball tip 파워볼사이트백조 to improve the odds
It is also helpful to follow the pattern when it comes to winning the Powerball. Of course, each has a competitor, but more than two people have previously shared a grand prize winning Powerball. In certain circumstances, it is not cheating because the organizers profit from increasing the prize money.
Another choice is to take the average of all grid numbers. This balanced technique enables players to join 엔트리파워볼대중소 가입방법 percentages that are equivalent or equal to the total amount in a certain range. Not only can it reach the last five digits, a waste of time, however, if done well, it might lead to a new millionaire.
Kansas Super Cash is one of the most cost-effective ways to get wealthy with a safe minimum prize. It is understandable why people want to make their Powerball quick.
What are Australia’s best Tattersall Powerball Games?
Oz Lotto Super 7 is the perfect alternative for Powerball participants who want to win maximum money irrespective of the odds. The chance of winning the jackpot is one in 45 million, but the jackpots can be huge. The largest Oz Lotto 엔트리파워볼대중소 추천 jackpot of Super 7 to date was $90 million. This is a great deal!
Then there are those in the Powerball who want to make a lot of money but don’t worry about the chances because they want to play a game where they are more likely to win. In my view, Lotto is the finest game Tattersall Australia Powerball has to play on Monday and Wednesday. The Lotto on Monday and Wednesday has a one in one million winning probability and a guaranteed jackpot of $1 million. The jackpots are less than in Super 7’s Oz Lotto, but Monday and Wednesday Lotto are 45 times more likely to win, so that it is a worthwhile deal.
Which game you want to play, Tattersall Australia Powerball is awesome to be anonymous if you hit the jackpot. In Australia, big winners can stay anonymous unlike in the USA, where the big winners are frequently targeted by the media hysteria.

Coins in The Swordsman slot machine begin at 0.01, but there is a max bet of 200.00 per spin. You can also adjust the number of paylines, which is fairly uncommon in a lot of 50-line slots. When it comes to payouts, there is a fairly wide range of prizes. You can win by lining up three to six matching symbols on the reels. While waiting for his $1.3 million jackpot to be verified by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, a Florida man played a nearby slot machine at Hard Rock Casino Biloxi and added a $14,000 win.
On November 30, a man who wishes to remain unnamed won over $14 million on a Las Vegas slot machine and says he will split the money between a charity and his church.
The slot machine was located in the Rampart Casino.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, the man put $20 in the machine and “won $14,282,544.” He was at the casino with an out-of-town guest and had been playing the slot machine for about five minutes when he hit the jackpot.
The church he attends has been holding “services in a high school gymnasium,” and the gentleman is happy that he and his fellow congregants can now build their own building.

Admit it. You have the same dream we do.
Everything conspires and you find yourself in the right place at the right time – seated in front of a Megabucks slot machine that’s primed and ready to hit. You push the button (of course, pulling a lever would be more dramatic, but this is 2015 and the one-armed bandit has gone the way of the horse and buggy). The logos on the reels all line up. And then the moment you’ve been waiting for finally arrives…you realize you’re a millionaire.
Correction: A multimillionaire.
IGT’s Megabucks has been paying out ginormous life-changing jackpots for almost 20 years. Its slogan is “Dream big. Win big.”
A network of slot machines linked throughout Nevada, Megabucks boasts a top prize that builds from a base amount of $10 million. To play it costs $1 a spin, but to quality for that top amount you’ll have to shell out $3. That sounds pretty steep, we know. But trust us, if you hit Megabucks with only a buck or two invested, you’ll leave with a jackpot in the thousands instead of millions. And just imagine trying to live with that.
As you’d expect, Megabucks lays claim to having paid the largest slot jackpots in Vegas history. It last hit here in mid March at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. The lucky winner was Trinadad Torres, a 78-year-old woman from Magna, Utah. She played $100 before netting the $10,744,292.71 jackpot. Her plans include traveling to the Philippines and buying a yellow Mustang.
While nothing to sneeze at, Torres’ windfall just misses placing her on our list below of the 10 biggest slot jackpots ever won in Sin City.

More than 12 years ago, a 25-year-old software engineer from Los Angeles, who wanted to remain anonymous (and who can blame him?), hit the city’s largest slot jackpot after playing $100 on a Megabucks machine. A C-note in return for nearly $40 million…now that’s what we’d call a damn good investment.

Gobs bigger than any tip she’d received, cocktail waitress Cynthia Jay-Brennan, then 37 years old, hit the second largest Megabucks slot jackpot in Vegas (at that time it was the city’s highest Megabucks payout). But her story took a tragic turn when her car was rear-ended about six weeks later by a drunk driver. Her older sister Lela died in the accident, and Jay-Brennan was left paralyzed.

Ignoring your budget isn’t always a bad thing. Just ask the then 67-year-old retired flight attendant from Vegas who racked up the city’s third largest Megabucks slot payout. Casino builder game. She’d only intended to play $100 at Palace Station that day, but wound up putting $300 in…and we’re pretty she doesn’t regret overspending one bit.

How does that old expression go? The early bird catches…the $22.6 million slot jackpot. Well, that’s how Johanna Heundl (then 74 years old) of Covina, California, might remember it. She was on her way to breakfast when she decided to stop and play a Megabucks machine. Having looked away for a moment, she couldn’t believe her eyes when she turned back and saw all the logos aligned in the payline.

One man, two times a Megabucks winner. What are the odds? They’ve got to be astronomical. Certainly, anyone would be happy to score a single multimillion-dollar slot jackpot. But not everyone is Elmer Sherwin. A frequent Vegas visitor, Sherwin hit his first Megabucks jackpot of $4.6 million at The Mirage back in 1989. It was a sign of even better things to come. Sixteen years later, at the age of 92, that lucky son of a gun (kidding, we’re not jealous…really) did it again, adding another $21.1 million to his bank account.

Late last year a Las Vegas man put $20 in a Megabucks slot machine at the Summerlin-area Rampart Casino. Within five minutes he’d hit a jackpot worth $14.2 million. His plans were altruistic (unlike ours). The man, dubbed the “Rampart Lucky Local,” said he would make a donation to his church. The church, which had been holding services in a high school gym, can now have its own location built.

A woman visiting her niece in Vegas decided to drop $6 in a Megabucks slot machine before heading back to her room. Her reaction when the winning symbols lined up: “The machine broke.” Luckily, her niece was there to clarify things. We think we should book a room at Aria because about four months after that jackpot occurred, another Megabucks jackpot hit at the resort for $10,636,897. Talk about lightning striking twice!
Photo of New York-New York courtesy of MGM Resorts International.
Jackpot amount: $12,510,549.90 When: April 14, 1997 Where:New York-New York
New York-New York opened its doors on Jan. 3, 1997. Perhaps due to a little of the “city that never sleeps” magic, Vegas resident Suzanne Henley made her fortune at the Big Apple-themed megaresort just a few months later. On her way home from work, she stopped in to play a Megabucks machine – one that she’d had an inkling might hit. Henley waited in line an hour before she could play. And at 1:44 a.m., after putting $100 in, her diligence paid off…to the tune of more than $12.5 million.
It was relying on a 2016 decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the, which found that a new way of playing blackjack couldn’t be patented. The virtual reel of modern machines goes back to a 1984 patent obtained by Norwegian mathematician Inge Telnaes, which brought the industry into the modern age and helped turn it into a “gold mine,” CDC says.A typical video-slot game today shows differing images passing by as the reels “spin.” Konami’s patented idea, which it calls “Super Stack,” shows identical images spinning. The legal case began when Konami filed federal patent suits in 2014 in Las Vegas claiming that High 5 Games LLC and Marks Studios LLC used the “Super Stack” inventions without permission.High 5 Games successfully argued to the trial judge that Konami’s patents are little more than a tweak of the rules of the game. The gamemaker says in court papers that it’s a legitimate invention designed to provide “a heightened sense of interest, excitement, and anticipation of potential wins.”. Ever go to an event where all the cars were the same color?
When cars and trucks are being produced, there is an early stage known as the “body in white.” The phrase applies to completed body shells as they head into the paint shop for color to be applied.
Perhaps taking the concept of “body in white” a giant step further,
Guglielmo Miani, who heads Italian fashion brand Larusmiani, thought it would be great fun to stage a road rally, but only for cars wearing white paint, and thus the inaugural Fuori Concorso was held in the California desert early in 2020, with a second was later in the year on the Italian island of Sardinia.
It’s not unusual for red cars to dominate at Ferrari events, or black cars at a Model T club gathering, but what would you think about staging a car show or driving event exclusively for cars of a certain color?
Or here’s an alternative: A car show where cars are parked neither at random nor by marque or model or model year, but by color?
British Motor Show launches robot competition
These robots are made from car parts
Did you miss World Recycling Day? It was held recently and the British Motor Show used the occasion to launch a Car Robot Competition as part of its “Crazee Creations” category.
So how does it work?
“The Car Robot Competition will see showgoers able to create their own battle-style robots using old car parts, ahead of the show, to fight head-to-head in an arena, which will form a central part of the Show’s Crazee Car Corner, where you will find the weird and the wonderful, from monster trucks to modified cars,” motor show organizers announced.
“Participants are invited to design their very own robot, static or mobile, using recycled car parts. The robots will then be judged for style and creativity before a winner is announced… Teams are invited from schools, colleges, companies, or just groups of friends and individuals.”
The show’s Crazee Car Corner will feature a display of “modified cars, mental motorbikes, oddball caravans, upcycled automotive art and extreme machines. If you like the unusual, you’ll love the Crazee area.”
“The British Motor Show is about cars of all ages, shapes and sizes – it’s a celebration of cars in all their forms and the Crazee Corner is where those are taken to the extreme” said Andy Entwistle, the motor show’s chief executive. “That makes it the perfect place for visitors to create their own car robot creations and let their automotive imaginations run wild – and there’ll be some cool prizes on offer, too.”
The show is scheduled for August 19-22. For more information, visit the show website.
Beaulieu’s ‘Simply’ shows launch May 23
The 2014 Volkswagen XL1 was a diesel-electric 2-seat hybrid vehicle. Only 250 of the $130,000 vehicles were scheduled to be produced
British home computer producer Clive Sinclair also produced 1-person electric-powered tricycles called the Sinclair C5 but sold only 5,000 of them
The British National Motor Museum at Beaulieu opens its series of “Simply” car shows on May 23 with Simply Electric, a showplace for electric and hybrid cars and motorcycles and bicycles.
Organizers are particularly interested in any vintage electric vehicles and in classics that have been converted to electric powertrains.
The event will be the first of 15 such one-marque or one-type of vehicle shows scheduled to be staged this year at the British museum.

2 Jet Z, a home-built creation that became a Hot Wheels toy, will be among the vehicles featured May 14-15 at the annual Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Pennsylvania.
Built by Luis Rodriguez and powered by 630-horsepower version of the 2JZ engine from the Toyota Supra, the car looks like a fighter-jet cockpit on wheels. In 2018, the car was selected as a grand national champion of such full-scale Hot Wheels cars and was shrunk to 1:64 scale to become a real Hot Wheels die-cast toy.
In addition to 2 Jet Z, Rodriguez will show his newest creation, Scorp*lon, a car inspired by one of Syd Mead’s vehicles in the movie Thon.
The Import & Performance showcase also will feature a Volvo celebration, 20 years of the Honda K-Series, 30 years of the Toyota 2JZ engine and 50 years of Opel Manta.
