I think that Dr. Christina "I was an excellent soldier" Raynor needs to deal with some personal things before she's anyone's therapist, because she strong-armed more of Bucky's autonomy away from him than Zemo did within the series.

important to gimli characterization. to me. is that while he's generous & steadfast & caring where it matters he is also just a little bit vain. not in a delusional way or a way that causes problems but like. he is aware that he's good looking & good at what he does and is pleased with himself for it. he's aware of his own good qualities & proud of them in a way that makes his friends roll their eyes a little. but he's charming & realistic about it and also Right so you can't be too annoyed. guy who takes way too long styling his hair & beard because he knows he has very nice hair. guy who will brag a little about his axework because he knows he's just that good. do you see what I'm getting at

katara’s fatal flaw when it comes to politics and also just general communication is that she cannot fathom why anyone would wish to act in a cruel manner and knowingly harm others, whereas sokka’s is that he does not understand how people can be willfully ignorant or even just plain dumb. it’s why sokka is always having to point out to katara that someone is a malicious actor who is taking advantage of her compassion and idealism (jet, hama, aunt wu, etc) because he knows that not everyone has pure, altruistic intentions, but he also doesn’t understand that king kuei isn’t just sheltered, he is also straight up an idiot (or that hahn isn’t just arrogant, he is also incompetent, etc etc) until it’s too late.

Begging tumblr to not send this post to the void again
Anyway, The Narrator wasn’t left alone for as long as Stanley was. He followed a familiar stream of thought to safety shortly after he arrived.
To say he was confused would be an understatement to say the least
Also thank you :]

I’ve tried like 500 times to articulate my thoughts about nonwhite superman and how much that adds to his childhood of loneliness and every time I hit a stumbling block because the topic makes me too insane to think but please hold my hand and imagine this little boy trying to grow up in rural Kansas and being the only person he’s ever known who looks like he does. This little boy who never has a proper answer when people ask where he’s really from, and even once he knows the truth of himself he can never safely share it. Please imagine him fighting every single day to belong and never being able to no matter how hard he tries because people will always find something questionable in the very way he looks. A lot of the superman mythos is dependant on Clark’s ability to assimilate but when you take that away what is left?? He’s just a kid fighting so hard for a belonging he’ll never have a hope in hell of being handed. Oh it hurts my heart

HC that Kirk is a great cook/baker but never really gets to showcase that skill cause his quarters [unlike Pike's] doesn't have a massive fucking kitchen he can play around in.
But the thing that draws him the most is old rationing recipes from the great depression. This man was on Tarsus where he nearly died from starvation, ofc he'd be super good at cooking with barely anything.
He also [imo] would also be super good at picking up clues as to if a plant is edible or not and likes to play that game in his head as he looks around planets as Spock goes around doing whatever he does with his tricorder.
And Spock and Bones don't know shit about these skills of his until they're all stranded somewhere and Kirk just cooks nonchalantly and the other two just look either [in Bones' case] bewildered and [in Spock's case] mildly baffled that their captain can just make 3 reasonably sized portions out of NOTHING.

im planning on making will turner for my next baldur's gate multiplayer character, and that got me trying to figure out what the cast's class and stat array would look like if they were characters in a campaign. these are the fruits of my labor. i am open to changing my mind.
elizabeth swann: sorcerer. natural charisma and an innate sense of calculation and cunning. quick to consider a lot of options at once. later on she gets more close-range options and can control whole battlefields. (dump stat: strength, the classic spellcaster minmax choice)
will turner: fighter, potential multiclass into rogue (or even cleric, depending on how you read into the ferryman thing). he does one thing really really good and it's fight things. comes with a lot of great proficiencies and a background that seems mundane but is deeply tied in with the narrative. of course. (dump stat: intelligence. sorry. his wis is good though.)
jack sparrow: a classic thief rogue — though i think you could argue for arcane trickster too. stumbles into situations and skill checks himself out of them. hidden depths lie beneath a roguish exterior and many, many sessions of bullshittery that somehow always tie back into the main plot. (dump stat: constitution. he's gotten hit in the head so many goddamn times.)
barbossa: hear me out: warlock. they have a lot of variation that can make it hard to tell what class they are, and you could argue that the aztec gold and later calypso are patrons to which he owes his unlife and, subsequently, his powers. comes with a high charisma stat for chewing the scenery. (dump stat: he cheated his stat rolls and has none)
norrington: paladin. my god. a paragon of light until he breaks his oath in dmc through no fault of his own and destroys himself clawing his way back into favor. (dump stat: strength, so he can be a dex-based paladin but his wis is probably next lowest)
beckett: bard. no further explanation.
davy jones: has since surpassed the levels of the class-based system but was a cleric, back in the day, devoted to a goddess he believed abandoned him. no it hasn't defined his existence for centuries. no he's not bitter. why do you ask?
calypso: aforementioned goddess ex. you know how it is.
governor swann: npc the dm has to frantically make a statblock for when he's suddenly drawn into a fight. he has 6hp.

I am going to be rotating Xichen's recontextualization of NMJ's death and his part in NMJ's death and the fact that NMJ was murdered and how he was murdered and who murdered him and Xichen's own culpability in that after Guanyin Temple from now into the next century because it's just!
It's awful. It's horrible. It's unrecoverable brain disease.
HOW do you recover from that. Is there potential to recover from that. God. Anyway.

bad and tina’s conversation today starting about what it truly means to be ‘okay’, and the importance of perspective. how people who are hurt one way can be okay another, or visa verca, how there are different kinds of ‘okay’, how those who are being asked if they’re okay can not know themselves that they’re not okay, because their sense of self or reality or perception of such can be warped. forever with the reality pills, for example.
bad, in that way that he does, feeling out if he can answer something honestly. asking roundabout questions and dodging those that he gets in return, until dropping the truth in a way that’s earth shattering, before pretending it’s a joke. only it isn’t a joke, it’s really a cry for help, he just can’t ever be straightforward about anything. not with himself, especially not with others.
he tells tina, finally, about what he’s been doing to himself. maybe because she wasn’t pressing to see if he’s okay, but pressing instead to see if he trusted her. and he’s been all about giving pieces of info to islanders lately to see if they’ve been trustworthy. this way he gets to ignore the fact that he’s not okay, gets to drop a truth bomb that is almost a cry for help, and trap tina with a secret so locked up it will definitely expose her as a traitor should it get out. outlandish enough he can pretend it’s a joke or lie to everyone else should push come to shove, because he’s ‘okay’ - of course he’s okay, why wouldn’t he be, it’s the eggs that aren’t okay.
but that’s the thing - being ‘okay’ is about perspective, and his has been terribly warped. he’s been color blind for weeks, he hardly looks at himself in the mirror, his sense of reality has been twisted due to sleep deprivation and grief.
their conversation ends with him, for the first time, acknowledging the fact that he is changing. finally taking tina literally, shocked that he’s physically turning blue. a shift in perspective. an admission, a self realization, however small, that he’s not as ‘okay’ as he thinks he is. he’s not okay at all.

I love that after treating Colin as less than an equal and trying to intimidate him prior to their parting of ways, Deli is clearly the one more affected by meeting again and seeing how Colin has comfortably moved on and found comradeship (or at least allyship) with Raphaniel. Like Colin was a little salty about the skald comments, but in that wonderfully understated "i care just enough to say something because you're wrong" way, a minor injury compared to how Deli is "thrown" by seeing Colin and Raphaniel fighting together

Every time I think about it too much, I go utterly insane over Noé's little "I'm glad you're the person you are now" speech.
Like, no matter how you read their relationship, it's undeniable that by that point, Noé cares about Vanitas so much. He's clearly quite upset by Vanitas's "as if anyone could fall for a person like me" line. And because of that, he goes out of his way to try and reassure Vanitas that he's good and worthy of love, and he specifically crafts his reassurance in a way that he thinks Vanitas will be able to accept.
He prefaces his kind words with "I still don't like you," because he knows that Vanitas reacts poorly to outright being liked. He adds on the line about his statement being "arbitrary" in an effort to pretend that his speech wasn't prompted by hearing Vanitas spill his self-hatred. He goes to lengths to make things look as much as possible like Noé's just sharing a thought, not trying to comfort Vani, but his intent comes through crystal clear.
Yet at the same time, the way he ties his speech to his thoughts on having met Astolpho shows that he really is being genuine. He goes out of his way to say all this because he wants to reassure Vanitas, but he doesn't say a word that isn't from the heart. Regardless of whether he “likes” the way he is or not, he’s genuinely grateful to have the Vanitas that he has.
It's so telling that Noé's reaction to hearing Vanitas speak self-hatingly is to go out of his way to contradict that hatred with affection. And that he tries to go about it so delicately. It speaks so much to his depth of feeling and his emotional intelligence. It’s just such a good scene.
