you take a few shots too many, those airhead friends of yours that kei never really liked busying themselves w some random guys, and you end up calling him to pick you up. there’s some creep at the club that just doesn’t let up, you’re a little scared, and your phone is almost dead. he’s the only person you really know that’d actually pick up at this late hour and come get you — he’s your brother after all. and yet, you regret ever calling him in the first place as soon as you get in the car, listen to him calling you even dumber than he’d thought of you, jaw slack and eyes firm yet tired behind his glasses as he drives. you hold back tears on the way home, and for the very first time in your life, you feel like kei nii might actually hate you :( and that he meant every single jab he’s gave you throughout all these years. he tugs you inside the house, unaware of your silence, and grumbles something about u being lucky that mums not home to see you this fucked up. you sit at the edge of your bed, shaky fingers struggling to undo the straps of your heels, and kei lets out an exasperated sigh as he crouches down in front of you. he slaps your hands away, works on unclasping the straps and tells you you’re hopeless. you’re just so annoying with how reckless you’re being, he’s got practice tomorrow morning and yet its 3 am and he has to deal with you — careless as always. he sets your shoes aside and is about to get up and leave when he hears the choked little sound. a tear or two falls on his hand and he looks up — breath hitching in his throat upon his step sister crying. he’s seen it so many times before, being the very cause for your tears more often than not, and yet this time, he’s confused. you wipe at your eyes, a poor attempt to hide the heartbreak, and swallow back little muffled cries. you tell him you’re sorry, that you never wanted him to hate you. you’re sorry that you’re annoying, sorry that you’re being a bother as always. kei watches in sheer astonishment as your bottom lip wobbles, still glimmering with your gloss. just don’t hate me, nii chan. he almost feels bad, for the first time in forever, as you sit there in your tiny black dress, with those pretty long falsies on, and cry your heart out — for him. its the exhaustion, he thinks, it has to be as he reaches a hand up and rests it on the back of your neck. he calls you silly, wipes a thumb below your eyes and furrows his brows a bit — he could never hate you, why’d you even think that? you really are a dumb thing. he’s just tired and not thinking straight, kei’s sure, as he leans up to press his lips to yours and taste you. your tongue is heavy with intoxication and shock, and he makes out the faint vanilla of your lip gloss and remnants of liquor as he kisses you, languid and sloppy, something to slow down the haywire in your mind. he could never hate you, he repeats, easing you down on the bed and hiking your dress over your hips — groaning when you give him the prettiest wide eyes, glossy with tears still but oh, so hopeful. kei nii is a good brother, despite his sharp tongue and teasing nature — and makes sure you never, ever doubt his love for you again :(

ushijima though,, he’s a whole another story you’re so right. i’m p sure he doesn’t even give you any remotely dirty thought — anything that would be immoral considering your relation. you’re his little step sister, and there’s nothing more to it. sure, he’s never been too close with you — always solely focused on his career — but he does appreciate you. you’re nice, sweet and caring with the way you always pick him up from the airport or fly over to some of his games. i think dean is someone who really panics when he the people he cares about aren’t in his line of sight / presence. like watching people leave (not even in the dramatic sense, like. just leaving the house / where he can see them) freaks him out. he’s gotten used to masking it really well at this point so like. no one knows but it manifests in little controlling actions and anger which obvs is annoying to other people like dean NEEDS to know where sam is going when, when he expects to be back, he NEEDS cas to check in when he’s gone for longer than a few hours and it’s yes, deeply rooted in his abandonment issues but also. extremely rooted in his fear as a child that whenever john walked out the door might be the last....like he literally was a little kid waiting anxiously and scared shitless for his dad to come back from hunts, knowing that it was very very possible he might never come back. like kid dean has bobby and pastor jim’s numbers memorized and knows that if john’s not back / doesn’t check in after three weeks (long, long after the grocery money has run out) he’s supposed to call them. anyways. yeah...so dean seeing someone walk out the door. instantly flooded with anxiety and freeze response

Okay but also when you consider that Rita is older than Juno by probably an absolute minimum of five years (and let's be real, it's probably closer to ten) so much of the shit she did to stick around and help him out makes that much more sense. Sure, the difference in maturity between 38-43/48 may not be so huge, but remember, they met when Juno was about 19. Whether she was 24 or 29, she would have still seen Juno as a kid.

And when someone you perceive as a kid goes through so many lengths to help you keep your own job and save your name while his own gets dragged through the mud? When everything they do in efforts to help make something better only smacks them into the dirt?? Of course you're going to want to help! Of course she stayed, that's her Dumb Baby Sibling who did something really rash and stupid and brave.

And once you see someone that way, your viewpoint never really changes. I'm sure 20 years of working together changed it a bit to where he's not really a kid anymore, but he also is in her heart. This is up until he can do some proper growing up in s2, where his new maturity and will to live put them on slightly more equal ground.

It’s so infuriating to talk to my father about what was going on 2015-2017 because me and my sisters were sooo neglected because my dad was so depressed by our mom leaving. I already had so much on my plate but I also had to step in as a backup mother bc all my dad would do is sleep. To this day he’s obsessed with convincing me to forgive him but I just can’t, especially not with how much it affected me and my sisters and how much he still fucks up now. He just can’t cope with the fact that I’m still angry about it even though he “did all he could” …. Okay. But we were young and you were our father. My chronic illness was at its worst, I was being bullied, we just got out of being homeless, my mom had just left, I was planning to kill myself once my sisters got into a stable situation so I wouldn’t have to worry about them without me, and ontop of that my dad didn’t ever seem to care about anything. There were constant cries for help, once I remember I asked him to help me change my username on something and it was literally ‘unheardcries’. I know it’s edgy but that was like my final time I tried to indirectly reach out I think. It was a small thing but that only took place after I started self harming etc etc and that got no response either. I barely remember that timeframe so I don’t even know what my little sisters were going through. And he just cannot fathom that I could be hurt by something he supposedly didn’t mean to do .. it’s not like I think he really meant to neglect us but don’t I have the right to be angry at someone who was supposed to do everything but that in such an insane time ??
