Happy disability pride month to people whose physical disabilities were caused by someone else intentionally.
To those who survived violent hate crimes, to those who survived violent assault, to physical abuse survivors, to torture survivors, to child soldiers, to prisoners, to war and terrorism survivors, to people who were starved to the point of bone/joint/musculature and GI issues, to all who have to live every day knowing that if someone had not consciously decided to hurt them, they would not have those physical conditions.

(14 year old tim drake voice) guys i’m so excited my anthrax from bruce just arrived in the mail ^-^ it’s part of a new training exercise to improve my constitution and help me recognise the symptoms of various diseases and poisons :) can’t have me getting sick if i’m gonna fight by batman’s side!! actually did you know that dick grayson (the first robin) has only been sick twice since he was 13. yeah first was when he was living with bruce but the second time he was up in new york and i had to break into his apartment to bring him soup so he wouldn’t starve to death. he kept crying and calling me jason which was honestly really pathetic but happens to the best of us if you know what i’m saying. hey is that a joint you know if you light that you’re going to hell righ

( it suddenly occurs that someone might’ve been making an advance towards him using the most outlandish tactics in all the realms… at any rate, he is going to bed. he’ll ponder the rest later. )

Today the coolant systems are on decreased function for scheduled maintenance. It's always fun to watch my peers fur melt off their skin (non-literal). I'm fine. I get to hang in my tank.

Since it's pride month, just a little reminder for everyone that disabled people cannot flee their respective countries as many people are suggesting in response to recent legislations in USA and Russia--and not just because of the high cost of doing so!
When you want to permanently immigrate to another country, the embassy interviews you. People on any sort of disability payments and visibly disabled people are usually rejected outright because most countries have laws against disabled people immigrating. Even if you have a job now, but are visibly disabled or they can see you were on disability in the past, they may still deny you.
For disabled Americans, if you want to even visit another country for more than 30 days, if you are on SSI your payments will stop. If you're on SSDI you can only visit certain countries and still get your SSDI payments.

One day a lot of you will have to contend with your effect on people all because you prioritized your feel-good emotions of "validation" over material reality and over other people.
The fact that we have I/DD individuals who are begging you not to use "high support needs" about yourself when referring to having anxiety because you feel like calling yourself that validates your experiences is, frankly, insane.
The fact that wheelchair users are telling you that not having access to physical buildings is not the same as sensory issues once inside the building and you're calling them ableist because you assume that means they're putting you down for being neurodivergent or saying you have 0 problems is frankly, insane.
The fact that physically disabled people are having to tell you that no being physically disabled is not the same as being mentally ill and does not have the same material experiences (yes even though "the brain is a physical body part") and the response is to harass them because You feel like people take "physically disabled" more seriously or Think that people would respect you more is, frankly, insane.
The fact that in trauma and trauma disorder spaces we have people competing over their trauma histories and trying to reframe words as actually being exactly the same as manipulation or parental abuse because you don't think you had it bad enough and so you seek out "worse" things to call it and therefore flood the tags and flood communities with completely irrelevant bullshit is, frankly, insane.
You need to be able to deal with the fact that some people are not going to have the same experiences as you. Some of these experiences could and can even be described as "objectively worse," while other experiences are simply that: different from your own. You need to grapple with this without taking it as a personal affront and without assuming it means people are claiming you aren't struggling. Without taking it as commentary on your personal experiences at all, actually. You need to be able to exist without having to be acknowledged by random strangers around you and have your exact experiences mentioned before you care about another living person. And overall you all need to get far more comfortable with discomfort.

Anyway I was looking at Morgan's Wonderland, which is a theme park built from the ground up to be accessible (inspired by their daughter Morgan), instead of retrofitted accessibility. And they not only have that theme park, but they have an accessible sports center, an accessible kid's summer camp, and a community center type situation with case management and coordinated care for disabled people.
And when I say accessible theme park, their water park has complimentary waterproof wheelchairs with bags for ventilators and trachea covers. They describe what the sensory experience is like for each attraction on the page.
