Okay, so you fucked up. You definitely should've waited for backup.

Your feet stumble over each other on the broken road, gunfire from behind you willing you to move faster. Around you, a marketplace crowded with people, innocent people. In your hand, a powerful agent in a small vial, strong enough to wipe out the entire city.

"On your left," you finally hear on the comms. You let out a sigh of relief as you look back to see a truck coming through.

You see Natasha leaning out the window of the backseat passenger side, arms ready. "Y/N! Take my hand," she calls to you, the truck driving next to you as you run.

You reach out to her, making eye contact with the widow. Usually, you would see a look of annoyance, you were surprised to see her green eyes filled with worry. Brows pushed together as her face wavers with fear.

"Take my hand!" She calls again, and this time you jump up, letting her grab you. Natasha pulls you into the truck as Sam cheers from the drivers seat with a "Hell yeah!" While you sit in the backseat with Natasha, bullets littering the back of the truck.

Your chest heaves as you try to catch your breath, laughing along with Sam in relief. Natasha only moves away from you, seemingly shaken up.

As the truck pulls up to the safe house, you hand the vial to Sam after the three of you get out. "I'll get this bad boy locked up," he nods and pats your shoulder to which you wince. Natasha frowns at you when he walks away.

"What the fuck was that?" She says, pushing you. Your back hits the door of the truck.

"Easy!" You wince again, groaning at the sharp pain from your shoulder blade.

"No, you could've died!" Natasha yells back in your face. "You could've died..." She says in a softer tone, tears welling in her eyes.

"Nat..." You mumble, reaching out to her. She slaps your hand away. Pushing you again. And again. She hits your chest, letting the tears fall down her cheeks.

"You don't get to just, make someone care about you, and then-then do stupid shit like that!" She cries, and you stand there shocked. You had never seen the widow this upset, let alone in an incident involving you.

"I didn't think you cared that much... you don't act like it," you say, reaching your hand across your body to hold your shoulder. Natasha sighs, looking to your face, studying your soft eyes and bruised cheek.

"Because of this exact reason. I try to stay away, and I try not to care. But you're so fucking..." She's at a loss for words, and instead of trying to find the right ones, she grabs your face in her hands and kisses you.

Her lips are soft and wet, salty from her tears. You wrap your arms around her middle and pull her closer, deepening the kiss. The kiss you had wanted since the first day you laid eyes on her. She pulls apart only a little, her forehead resting on yours as her lips hover over your lips.

"Don't do something so stupid again," Natasha sighs, and you nod in response. You press your lips to hers again, mumbling out an apology.

"You're in a lot of pain, aren't you?" She says.

"Yep," you groan and smile as she laughs and wipes her face. Her hand rests on your cheek for just a second longer before she takes your hand.

"Come on, let's get you cleaned up."

"Wait, does this mean I can kiss you again or... was that like a one-time thing or..." You trail off, raising your eyebrow.

"You're insufferable... Yes, you can kiss me again," Natasha says in a serious tone, but the smile on lips tells you all you need to know.

Comprehensive Trigun Stampede Timeline

(With sources and references!) I will use the abbreviations EY to stand for Earth Year and PE to stand for Planet Era, the calendar and year system used by No Man's Land. I will use ~ in front of a date to indicate that it's not concrete but is about that time.

This should hopefully be a comprehensive timeline for TriStamp. I've done my best to comb through both the series as well as some of the extras from Studio Orange on Twitter, and I will provide sources/pictures as well as reasoning where relevant. So onto the actual timeline starting with.....

~EY 2256 - Project SEEDS leaves earth - based on Rem saying that it has been about 200 years since they left Earth and in that scenes the boys look like they do after at least a year old.

EY 2405 May 3rd - Tesla is born

EY 2455 July 21st - Vash and Nai are born

EY 2456 July 21st - Vash and Nai's first birthday

~ EY 2456 - The Big Fall - due to the fact that Vash and Nai still look about the same age it is either the same year or pretty close to it when the Big Fall happens

~ EY 2461 - When Vash runs away from Home to confront Nai and he gets his arm cut off. Brad says it had been 5 years since the Big Fall.

PE 00 November 1st (~ EY 2502) - The first city November is established as well as the Planet Era Calendar. Based on Vash, Nai, Luida, and Brad all saying it has been about 150 years since the Fall at the time the actual episodes take place, the math works out to this happening about 46 years after the big fall. This information comes from Studio Orange's twitter where they posted some extra world building info.

PE 00 December (~ EY 2502) - 2nd city December is established

PE 01 July (~ EY 2503) - 3rd city July is established (RIP your theme song slapped)

PE 01-02 (~ EY 2503-2504) - The rest of the seven cities of Augusta, Octovern, May, and September are established

~ PE 79 (~ EY 2581) - Rollo is taken and Eye of Michael-ed. Based on a combination of what Roberto and Conrad say in episode 5. Conrad says in the flash back after Rollo has been experimented on that he is the first to survive for 5 whole years. And then Roberto later says its been about 20 years since the town was abandoned aka since Rollo came back as Monev the Gale and wrecked the place. Roberto says the 20 years comment when looking at the state of the house and before finding the photo of Vash and bby Rollo.

PE 81 (~ EY 2583) - Meryl is born! This also helps us establish the year the episodes take place as Meryl was born in 81, is 23 years old, and just finished college in 103 which you can just make out at the bottom of the screen. (23 + 81 = 104) Meaning the majority of the episodes themselves take place in PE 104

~ PE 84 (~ EY 2586) - Rollo comes back to the windmill town as Monev the Gale and wrecks the place.

PE 99 - PE 103 (~ EY 2601 – 2605) - Meryl is in college!

PE 104 May 25th (~ EY 2606) - We finally get to Episode 1! Meryl and Roberto find Vash half dead and he has the duel with the military police! As stated earlier we have determined the year based on Meryl's resume.

PE 104 May 25th/26th - Episode 2/3 happens. This episode may either be the same day as episode 1 or it could be the next day as there is multiple ways to determine the timing. First way: As Vash is attempting to leave Roberto does say "Wait... You told me this morning." when asking who Vash is seemingly running away from. This would indicate that it is the same day as episode 1 since that is when Vash first tells them about Knives. Second way: Episodes 2/3 take place the next day as in the intro sequence while Vash is cleaning his gun it is night outside as shown by the window in his room, and later on we see it is day and we know it is a window as when Vash is leaving you can see the light outside. I personally still think this is the case since the town people have also had a chance to get together and plan Vash's capture, and when Roberto is referring to the morning that could be referring to the interview he and Meryl were doing with him in the bar.

PE 104 May 29th/30th - Episode 4 happens. The radio states it has been 3 days since Jeneora Rock.

PE 104 May/June/July - Sometime in this period episode 5 happens. I suspect towards the mid/end of July since Vash and Wolfwood are still upset with each other over Rollo during the start of episode 6. (@ StudioOrange what happened during their off screen road trip we wanna know)

PE 104 ~ July 20th - Episodes 6/7 happen. The timing on this is entirely based on how long Vash remains passed out in Home before waking up, but at least one day passes from 6/7 to Vash's very bad no good day that is episodes 8/9/10/11/12 since it goes from day on 6 to sunset on 7, and then back to day when Vash wakes on the ship.

PE 104 July 21st - Episodes 8/9/10/11/12 aka Vash goes to Soup day aka the twin's 151st bday or thereabouts. We know for sure it was July 21st thanks to Nai giving his bro the worst bday present ever and the radio announcer confirming the date explicitly during the anniversary for the epilogue.

PE 106 July 21st (~ EY 2608) - Episode 12 epilogue happens as stated by the radio announcer.

BONUS: SE 110 June 2nd (~ EY 2612) - Now this is an interesting date, as this is the "effective" date listed on Wolfwood's pastor contract.

We do know for sure however that the date June 2nd SE110 cannot equal June 2nd PE110, and equal the current day and year, as this happens on July 21st. It also cannot be the date Wolfwood is sent after Vash as they meet up May 29/30th, and even if that date is wrong (like if more than a day passes between episodes 1 and 2 somehow), if the year was 110 then Meryl would be 29 years old, very much not a fresh out of college newbie since we know she also graduated in 103.

General theorizing from myself and the wonderful people who have commented on this post and on others post seem to align with SE possibly meaning Sinners Era and being slightly off from the Planet Era year system the rest of the planet uses.

For my personal theorizing, the closest match to this date is if SE110 is equivalent to PE104 (so a six year difference between year systems), and an extra 3 days happen between Episodes 1 and 2/3, then it may be the day Wolfwood was sent after Vash. It could also be that we are making the incorrect assumption that they are using the Earth calendar with Earth calendar month lengths. If May is 28 days then that would place Episode 4 on June 1st with my current timeline which would be even closer.

In summary: The important part is that Vash, Wolfwood, Meryl, and Roberto spend a total of about 2 months traveling together between May 25th and July 21st. And I have no fucking clue what's going on with Wolfwood's contract.

These little guys are the holder of the most complex vision on the animal kingdom! Oh boy, I spend a good time studying about it lol

- He has hexocular vision (each eye having 3 iris and moving independently)

- Wind's eyes are divided into three morphological sections: midband, dorsal hemisphere and ventral hemisphere.

*The Dh and Vh sections have sensitivity to 4 types of polarized light ( 2 diagonals, horizontal and vertical ) which allows a better analysis of the environment in therms of dimensions, perspective, distance, composition... (in other words , he can almost feel the world with his eyes. He uses this to find weak points in his opponents )

*MB is divided into 6 sessions that have 16 types of photoreceptor cells and cells sensitive to circular light polarization (which allows him to see ultraviolet and infrared)

-The image is processed by the eyes instead of his brain, which allows faster reactions

Our famous lady was designed by Sir Thomas Slade, Senior Surveyor of the Royal Navy. She was launched in 1765 and used around 6000 trees of which 90% were oak, the remainder being elm, pine and fir. She was not commissioned until 1778 and this long period of weathering resulted in her timbers being well seasoned which was a major reason for her long life. She was a First Rate Ship of the Line with an outfit of 100 guns on 3 decks.

She was in active service for 34 years. She served as the flagship to a number of distinguished Admirals and fought at the first Battle of Ushant in 1778 (Keppel), the Second Battle of Ushant in 1781 (Kempenfelt) and the Battle of Cape St Vincent in 1797 (Jervis). In 1797, she was pronounced unfit for further active service and was due to be converted to a hospital ship. However, when HMS Impregnable was lost in October 1797 leaving the Admiralty short of a First Rate, the decision was taken to refit Victory which took place at Chatham between 1800-1803.

As part of an extensive reconstruction, extra gun ports were added, increasing her guns from 100 to 104, the magazine was lined with copper, the masts were replaced and the paint scheme changed from red to the black and yellow seen today. She sailed for Portsmouth in April 1803 and Nelson hoisted his Flag onboard in May 1803 as Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet. Admiral Lord Nelson was Victory’s most famous Admiral.

On 21 October 1805, she led the British Fleet under his command into battle against a Franco-Spanish force off Cape Trafalgar. Nelson was shot at the height of the battle and died at 16.30 when victory was assured. SHe suffered a lot of punishment, 57 men were killed and 102 wounded, and the ship was so badly damaged that she had to be towed to Gibraltar for emergency repairs before returning home with Nelson’s body onboard.

After further service in the Baltic and off the coast of Spain, she was placed in reserve in 1812 and was moored off Gosport as a depot ship. Flagship of the Port Admiral, Portsmouth from 1824, she became flagship of the Commander-in-Chief in 1899. She then slowly deteriorated at her moorings until a campaign to save her was started in 1921 by the Society of Nautical Research (SNR).

In 1922 she was moved into No 2 dock Portsmouth, the oldest drydock in the world, for restoration. The work was completed in 1924 and preservation continued under the supervision of the Society for Nautical Research. The ship subsequently underwent another extensive restoration programme to make her appearance as close as possible to that at Trafalgar, for the bicentenary of the battle in October 2005. She is still in commission as the flagship of the Second Sea Lord/Commander-in-Chief Naval Home Command.

DAY 146: TOTAL CASUALTIES IN ZIONIST GENOCIDE OF PALESTINIANS RISES ABOVE 100'000 AS HUNDREDS SHOT IN AL-RASHID STREET MASSACRE

On the 146th day of Israel's ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 9 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 81 Palestinians and wounding another 132 others over the previous 24-hours, not including hundreds shot in an overnight massacre on Al-Rashid street.

In another Zionist atrocity committed against the Palestinian people, thousands of starving Palestinian families gathered to receive food aid from the arrival of a convoy carrying humanitarian aid on Al-Rashid street, in the Sheikh Ajlin neighborhood, west of Gaza City, when the Zionist occupation army opened fire with machine guns from armored vehicles and Israeli soldiers on the crowds of people.

As a result of the Zionist army's random aggression on civilian families, at least 104 civilians were killed and another 760 wounded, which was not included in today's tally of Israeli massacres.

Medical teams from hospitals across northern Gaza continue to attempt to save the lives of the wounded, many of whom were shot with machine gun fire from occupation armored vehicles and soldiers, however limited capabilities of the hospitals, most of which are only partially functional, makes the saving of lives extremely difficult for more severe injuries.

The number of dead is expected to rise over the coming days as the severely wounded die from their injuries in under-equipped local hospitals.

The Al-Rashid street massacre will likely go down as one of the deadliest episodes in Israel's ongoing genocide of Palestinians families in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, another hospital in Gaza has gone out of service. Reports say that Kamal Adwan Hospital, in the northern Gaza Strip, which was the last hospital operating in the area, has closed down due to running out of fuel for the hospital's generators, losing the ability to perform dialysis, internal medicine, operate the nursery, perform general surgeries or even perform children's emergency services.

Elsewhere, two children died at Al-Shifa Hospital in the northern Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City, as a result of dehydration and malnutrition, raising the death toll from famine among children to six deaths over the previous 24-hours.

Simultaneously, occupation fighter jets bombed a residential neighborhood in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, in the central Gaza Strip, leading to the deaths of at least 14 civilians and wounding dozens of others, while shortly afterwards, the Zionist army fired multiple missiles into the same neighborhood, also killing and wounding a number of Palestinian civilians.

At the same time, occupation aircraft bombed another civilian residence in the Al-Bureij Refugee Camp, in the central Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinians.

In the southern Gaza Strip, occupation artillery shelling targeted the kidney department of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, while outside the hospital, the corpses of 14 Palestinians were recovered over the last day from the Khan Yunis area, including the body of a martyr who was shot by occupation snipers in the vicinity of the Hayat School, near the hospital complex.

Similarly, in another Zionist crime, occupation warplanes bombed a group of civilians in the Asdaa neighborhood, northwest of Khan Yunis, in the south-central Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of six Palestinians.

Occupation air forces also bombed the village of Al-Qarara, also in the Khan Yunis governate, killing at least six civilians and wounding several others.

Meanwhile, a limited incursion into Rafah city by a pair of Merkava tanks and seven D9 armored bulldozers moved into the area near the Surfa landfill and began bulldozing the neighborhood.

Also in the Rafah area, local medical and civil defense crews managed to successfully recover the body of a female civilian, just two days after she was killed in a Zionist airstrike on her family home.

In the north of the Gaza Strip, occupation Merkava tanks and other armored vehicles continue to invade the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, while occupation warplanes bombarded the Al-Barbari family home, dropping the building onto the heads of the family inside and resulting in the arrival of 11 dead and 39 wounded at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

Occupation aircraft also continue to bombard, with airstrikes and artillery fire, the city of Beit Lahia, in the northern Gaza Strip.

Local civil defense crews also managed to retrieve the corpses of 25 Palestinians who were crushed under the rubble of several inhabited homes that were bombed by occupation air forces in the central Gaza Strip.

Similarly, the bodies of five Palestinian civilians were transported to the European Gaza Hospital in the Al-Fukhari neighborhood of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, after intense Israeli shelling of the south and central areas of the enclave, while occupation gunfire and artillery shelling targeted anything that moves in the Al-Satar neighborhood and in the vicinity of the Nasser Medical Complex, also in the city of Khan Yunis.

As a result of Israel's genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, ongoing since October 7th, 2023, the death toll has risen in excess of 30'035 killed, with another 70'457 wounded in occupation air, drone, missile and artillery strikes across the Palestinian enclave, bringing the total number of casualties above 100'000 officially for the first time.

There were many downsides to coming back a na'vi. His clean shave now had a long braided rat tail; he frequently bashed his head on door frames, his body worked light a night light but worst of all his game had suffered.

You caught his eye day one. Sweet little pilot jogging over to the general. He'd been unable to take his eyes off you as you struggled to zip up your jumpsuit. When you'd started actually talking with him he was done for. You were perfect, everything he'd ever wanted.

He joked with you as you flew them on a mission to secure an outpost. Putting out his hand to help you up onto the craft. You'd taken it laughing as he bowed. Your soft hand feeling so small in his own. He'd been delighted when he made you laugh, despite the angry looks from Mansk he got for 'distracting' you. The sound was like music to his ears and he swore he'd be the cause of it forever.

The whole day you'd been with them he was certain he was catching the same vibe off of you. You blushed at his compliments, were always by his side and even seemed to be flirting back at times. You'd even not so subtly squeezed his bicep whist using him to get up.

So when he'd found you on the way to the mess hall, slung an arm over your shoulder and asked you out, he'd been surprised at your rejection. He spent that meal sulking while you sat over with other humans. Still he wasn't the type to give up easily. Just needed a little convincing that he was a great guy right? He could do that.

Emboldened he continued his courtship in earnest. You'd headed out with them to search the perimeter. Quaritch had found out something was knocking the cameras down and they were out with the team reinstalling. This gave him ample time to show off, especially when the team split up and you were alone together.

You reached the first felled camera, grabbing the broken thing and dumping it in your pack. You took the replacement out before eyeing the fence. Before you could even think to climb up, Lyle swooped in.

You let out a squeal when he hoisted you up onto on shoulder. You wobbled but his hands on your hips steadied you.

"High enough?" Lyle laughed at your flushed expression. You nodded swiftly, turning your attention to the camera. Lyle preened at your reaction, watching the blush spread up to your ears. He couldn't say he wasn't enjoying this too, the feel of your hips under his fingers was electric. He gave them a subtle squeeze as he plopped you back down.

"Uh yeah...um... next one." You stormed ahead quickly.

At the next sight the camera was intact. You stopped to make note while Lyle watched your back. Nestled in the tree there were bright red flowers were growing. They were dainty things, elegant thin petals that curled around the ends, with a shining black center. An idea sparked and he picked one gently.

"104 is looking fine we should move onto..." You paused, frozen as Lyle slipped the flower behind your ear.

"'Bout as pretty as you, no?" He grinned watching your colour rise to match the floral decoration.

It was that exact moment the thanator growled. In an instant you were both drawing guns, firing desperately at the pouncing monster. Lyle's faster reflexes kicked in and he grabbed your waist pulling you down as the creature crashed into the fence behind you.

He scooped you up under his arm before sprinting off into the forest. The bullets had bounced right off that thing, best bet was to loose it and double back to the base.

Lyle leapt over fallen logs and rocks, gripping you under one arm and his gun in the other. The beasts heavy footfall bounded behind him, crashing through obstacles.

The thought came to him as he barreled past the flora. The cameras that had been knocked down were red. Their casing was a vibrant plastic with the lens a black glass center. He glanced down at the flower still tangled in your hair before grabbing it. He looked back at the beast, holding it aloft before tossing it behind him.

He immediately slid down and darted behind a tree as he heard the thundering approach stop. Sat tucked against the twisted roots he kept you pulled tight against his chest. Feeling your rapid heart beat against his arm.

He risked a peak watching the thanator rear up before its front paws slammed down on the flower. It sniffed the remains before tugging dirt across to bury the thing. He stayed still, plastered to the trunk as it's head moved. The nostrils flared before it turned thundering back towards the fence.

Lyle let out a breath looking down at you with a strained laugh. Your tiny frame crushed against his broad chest. He could barely make out your face behind the fogged up mask but he heard you laugh too. Your small hands were still gripping his arms. You noticed too pulling them away suddenly before clearing your throat.

Hesitantly Lyle loosened his grip allowing you to stand up out of his lap. He felt that pang of rejection again, grumbling at the loss of your heat.

"We should circle back, try give the thanator a wide berth right?" Your mask had cleared, leaving your face visible again. Lyle could see the remnants of blush on your cheeks. He agreed leading the way back, though the fading light concerned him.

His thoughts dwelled on you as he walked. He couldn't figure out what your problem was. You liked him, he was sure. He wasn't an idiot, he'd had plenty of experience to know when someone returned your feelings. So what was holding you back.

A roll of thunder snapped him back. In a moment the sky opened up and the heaviest rain he'd ever experienced began. You shrieked beside him, moving closer into his form for shelter. Lyle hunched forward blocking the worst of it from hitting your head.

His head swiveled, spotting a larger tree off in the distance. He nudged your shoulder, pointing it out and you both ran over. It was hard to match speed with your gate so much shorter than his own. In the end he decided to just scoop you up and run fully. You gripped around his neck as he held you into his chest.

He was right, the larger tree had an internal structure that left room for himself and you to crawl in. Like a tiny 'home tree' he thought, though his mind switched back as he felt your warm hand on his peck. You didn't meet his eyes but he caught your meaning and placed you down.

In the tight space he had to sit to even fit, with you stuck in between his legs. There was enough room for you both to sit with a back to opposite walls but even your shorter legs couldn't straighten. It left you both very close and very wet.

Lyle watched your eyes drag across his chest, feeling a pride swell up in him. Oh you liked what you were seeing, even if you wouldn't admit it. Lyle felt a little mean, pulling at his soaked vest before tugging it up over his head. He caught you swallowing hard before your eyes darted to the floor.

With you distracted he took the opportunity to admire the way your clothes clung to you. Perfectly hugging the swell of your breast, even allowing him to see the perk of nipple pocking though. He followed a bead of water that ran down your chest wishing he would follow that trail himself.

He was beyond frustrated by you. You would fit so perfectly in his arms so what was holding you back. Then it clicked. He stared down to his long legs, bent to cram into the space, then past them to your tiny frame.

He wondered what he could do, what he could say to assure you it wouldn't be a problem. He was sure it wouldn't be, he was patient, he could take it slow with you. Just out right saying that was sure to put you off though.

Your body suddenly shook, a violent shiver running though you. You hugged your arms in, rubbing them with your hands. Lyle hadn't felt the chill, something in his new form keeping him warmer.

"Come here you're freezing." He smiled opening his arms to you. You paused, eyeing his chest before your teeth started chattering. You were being silly, you were gonna get sick if you kept it up. Lyle thought to just pull you to him but he didn't have to, you shifted over. You turned your back to him, scooting inbetween his legs.

Lyle shifted, lifting you up onto his thigh to sit and wrapping his arms around you. You froze going bright red again and staring at the floor.

"Thanks!" You squeaked out.

The two of you sat like that as the storm raged on outside. You eased into him, relaxing into his hold. Lyle absent-mindedly rubbing your back and legs as he listened to the rain outside. It was only when his hand raised higher he began noticing your reaction.

You stiffened again, pressing your legs together tightly, your bottom lip caught between your teeth. Lyle smirked, running that hand up over your hip and to the swell of your breast. He tucked his face down into your neck, placing a gently kiss to your throat.

He felt your breath hitch, shaky hand coming up to touch his own. You didn't pull him away however, just placed your own hand atop his on your chest. He continued kissing up your neck, nuzzling behind your ear.

"Do you want me to stop?" He asked feeling your hand grip his own.

"No." You spoke clearly, voice tinged with the desire Lyle was feeling himself.

"Good." He continued bring his hand up to turn your face to his. Your hand followed pulling your mask off a moment. Lyle took the opportunity to kiss you. It was needy, a desperate heated moment before you had to break away to replace the mask.

Lyle wanted more but he'd have to wait, plenty of time for that in an environment where you could breath. For now he refocused on your neck tugging your wet shirt lower. He followed down, hoisting you up under your arm pits to get better access.

You pulled away a moment, Lyle certain then you'd changed your mind. Instead you removed the shirt, looking back as his pupils blew out. His lustful gaze trained on you before he dove back into open mouthed kisses.

He felt your hands all over him. Rubbing his skin, kneading into his shoulders, down his arms, across his chest. He felt your fingers tracing round his boxers hem as he nipped your breast.

He sucked the skin, desperate to leave as many love bites littered across you as he could get away with. The stiffened, groaning as he felt your hand reach down, brushing the length of him. He paused his own exploration as your hand wrapped around him giving an experimental tug.

He moaned at your touch, looking back to your heated expression. Your eyes were widened and your mouth had formed a little 'o'. He laughed a little, drawing your gaze to his own.

The mission was going great.

They didn't always, and the fact that Steve paired you up with Wanda was making it all the better. Your goal, get to the lower levels where the servers are located to retrieve the data needed. Wandas goal, get you there safely. You were an asset to the team for sure, with your smarts and spy skills, but sometimes the occasion called for a little magical touch. You couldn't have been more grateful this was an occasion.

The two of you were currently waiting on one of the upper levels of the building, waiting on Steve or Natashas signal to continue down.

You glimpse at Wanda again as she leans against the wall across from you. Her red locks flow past her shoulders, red suit hugging her curves as she twists a ring on her finger.

"I'm glad Steve paired us up, by the way," you say quietly with a smile on your face. Wanda doesn't miss the glint in your eye as she looks up to meet your gaze.

"Well, someone had to babysit, right?" She says playfully, a smirk on her lips. Your lips part as you gasp and stand straight from your previous leaning position.

"I-what-babysit?" The words spill out all together as you look at her in offense. "I'll have you know I am a decorated international spy. I may not be a-a black widow or have magic fingers, but I assure you I don't need a babysitter!" You huff as you step up to her, ego calming as she stands straight, looking down at you.

"Magic fingers?" Wanda chuckles, and your cheeks burn.

"You know what I meant," you mumble and cross your arms. She steps closer, now invading your personal space.

"Are you talking about my powers or the magic that had you in my bed screa-"

You put your hand over her mouth, stopping her from finishing her sentence. She lifts her hands in defense as you glare at her with a red face.

Before either of you can say another word, Natashas voice call over the comms.

"Head down, Wanda, be ready. They're waiting for you guys," she warns. The two of you look at each other with a nod, both of you attempting to be serious. You make your way lower, coming across a set of double doors.

"Ready?" Wanda asks, her fingers twitching as she forms red orbs of energy in her hands. You nod, pulling out your pistol in one hand and a small knife in the other.

Wanda sends a blast through the doors, opening them up and revealing a group of the enemies that had, in fact, been waiting. She's quick to send another few blasts, scattering them about the large room as the two of you begin to fight.

"Babysitter..." You mumble to yourself, shaking your head as you take down an agent. You look over at Wanda to see she's taken out half the group. Okay, so maybe it wasn't bad she was here. You, not so easily, fight with another and lose your pistol in the process. But as you land another punch, he falls to the ground.

"See that?" You breathe out as you look to Wanda, who gracefully fought the last three at the same time. "I can take care of myself!" You say with a huff and lean down to grab the fallen gun.

As you do, you feel yourself being grabbed from behind. An excruciatingly sharp pain resonates from the side of your abdomen and you let out a, "Fuck!" When the agent removes the blade they stuck in you. You raise your hand across your body, pointing the gun behind you.

The bullet only grazes them, and they run through the set of double doors as soon as Wanda turned her head in your direction.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" She asks with worried eyes. A shaky hand rests on your face as she watches blood spill through your shirt. Your hand covers the gash to apply pressure, a wince leaving your lips.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I've been stabbed before," you say with a casual tone, trying to act as if the wound throbbing with pain wasn't enough to take you to your knees.

Wandas eyes burn red, an anger behind her eyes you had never seen before.

"I'm going to fucking kill them," she spits out, malice behind her words. Before she can walk away your hand reaches out to grab her wrist, stopping her.

"Wanda... don't leave me," you say softly, your touch and now gentle tone enough to calm her down only a little. She takes a deep breath, her hands still shaking with anger, but nods.

"Alright, alright, come here," she sighs softly and kisses your cheek before letting you lean on her for support as you make your way down. "We'll get you out of here and then I'm going to fucking kill them."

You chuckle a little at her reaction, face heating again just like earlier. You could see it written on her face, the way her jaw was tensed and the fire burning behind her eyes, that she wasn't lying.

"Did you see those guys I took out?" You ask, trying to lighten her mood. Wanda can't help but smile at you, both of you knowing she had fully taken on the group of them.

"They looked pretty rough, detka.. not sure why Steve and Nat thought you needed help," She says knowingly.

When she did return, it was with crimson splattered across the front of her suit and a smile on her face. You didn't say a word, only giving her a kiss and letting her wrap her arms around you.

You nod in approval, letting her stop to pick you up and carry you the rest of the way. Not that you needed it, but you weren't going to deny being in the arms of Wanda, and she wasn't going to let another person lay their hands on you again. As soon as you were safe with Natasha, Wanda disappeared.

Halo Reloaded: Puppy Eyes

In a cozy nook of New Mombasa, tucked away from the usual hustle and the occasional, unnerving peace that came after a particularly nasty Covenant invasion, was a diner. Not just any diner, but the kind with neon lights that had seen better days and a jukebox in the corner that was perpetually stuck on jazz standards from centuries past.

It was here, amidst the scent of overcooked burgers and undercooked fries, that Kelly-087 and Fred-104 decided to plant themselves for what passed as a date night in the Spartan handbook (not that such a handbook existed, but if it did, it would likely advise against anything that could result in fun).

Fred, the ever-dutiful Spartan, was halfway through a cup of coffee that could charitably be described as "motor oil chic." Kelly, on the other hand, was attacking a milkshake with the enthusiasm of a child who'd just discovered sugar was a thing. It was a rare moment of downtime, a slice of normal in lives that were anything but.

"Fred," Kelly said, sliding her milkshake aside with a look that meant trouble. Or fun. With Kelly, it was often both. "How do you feel about dancing?"Fred, whose experience with dancing was mostly limited to dodging plasma fire, nearly inhaled his coffee.

"Dancing?" he sputtered, trying to imagine himself in any scenario where that would be a good idea.

"Yeah, you know," Kelly pressed, her eyes gleaming with a mix of challenge and excitement. "Music, moving, maybe not stepping on each other's feet too much?"

Fred raised an eyebrow, putting down his coffee like it was suddenly made of live grenades. "Kelly, the last time I 'danced,' I accidentally dislocated an ensign's shoulder. You really want to unleash that on the civilian population?"

Kelly leaned back, giving him a look that was part amusement, part exasperation. "Oh, come on. I've seen you in a fight. You're all grace and lethal elegance. Just pretend it's a combat situation. Minus the actual combat."

Fred snorted, shaking his head. "Because nothing says romance like treating a dance floor like a battlefield."

But Kelly wasn't deterred. She employed the big guns: the puppy eyes. It was a low blow, and they both knew it. Those big, earnest eyes that said, "Trust me, what's the worst that could happen?" A lot, actually, but Fred found it increasingly hard to care.

"I can't say no to those eyes," he grumbled, though the fight was already leaving him. "This is going to end in disaster."

Kelly's grin could have powered the UNSC Infinity. "Disaster, adventure—it's all about perspective. Plus, it'll be fun. Promise."

Fred sighed, the weight of impending doom settling in. "You know, most couples would just go see a movie."

"And miss the chance to see you in dancing shoes? Never," Kelly shot back, her tone light, teasing.

They bantered back and forth a bit more, the diner around them fading into a comfortable backdrop. When they finally left, stepping out into the cool evening air, there was a lightness between them. It was the kind of moment that made all the chaos and destruction fade into the background, if only for a little while.

They made their way to whatever dance hall Kelly had in mind. Fred couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, dancing wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. After all, how hard could it be?

Famous last words, he'd think later, as he accidentally sent a fellow dancer spinning across the floor. But in that moment, with Kelly laughing beside him, it was all worth it.

It's very (very) late at night and english is not my first language, so sorry for the grammar mistakes. But I'm having some pretty intense thoughts about how (in the comics written by James Tynion IV, that cannot be placed in the same continuity as Zdarsky's Batman: The Knight) Minhkhoa and his family are held at gunpoint by Master Midas and his goons, something that is implied to be the catalyst for him to become a vigilante; and later on, once he becomes ghostmaker, we never see him use a gun (ONCE AGAIN, in james tynion continuity - the guy who introduced ghostmaker and his backstory)

And now, this is just my personal interpretation and hc, but Khoa having an aversion to guns bc of this moment fits pretty nicely with the way his dynamic with bruce works

Bc bruce and him are really very similar, and this is both the reason why they get along and why they fall apart. They have a strong case of self recognition through the other (complimentary) (derogatory) (affectionate) (DENIALIST). Bear with me

Doesn't Khoa's backstory remind you of something?

Sure, the circunstances are different and his parents weren't killed, but it does have some glaring similarities to bruce's own backstory. And it's not hard at all to notice, especially when Khoa and Bruce meet paths later on.

But you know a funny little thing about Khoa?

He himself doesn't acknowledge those things. Or at the very least, he doesn't like to acknowledge

He doesn't like to think of this moment as being the main reason for him to become ghostmaker. He doesn't like to think he did it so he could avenge his family by dismantling the Midas family empire and others like them.

He prefers to say that he does it for the "art of it". He likes to think that bc he's a psychopath, he doesn't have feelings and cannot be moved by them. He likes to think that him being a psychopath means nothing can hurt or affect him. That's the version of the story he likes to tell himself

So you can imagine how bad it was to find a boy in the same path as him, with whom he had an amazing connection, who he thought was the only person in the world who was just like him...

Only to hear this:

Like, are we at all surprised that he reacted like that?

btw yeah, it wasn't a great moment for him to hear bruce saying those things. Everytime Bruce acknowledged something about himself it was like he was pointing out khoa's weak points, showing him a mirror who reflected everything he was carefully ignoring and intentionally denying.

And Bruce. Bruce never stopped saying it. It's the very first thing everyone knows about him. He became batman bc of his parents. Something terrible happened to him when he was a child. It changed him forever. He can never let go of his past. He's moved by it. It shaped the person he is. He doesn't use guns bc of it. He's very adept to adopting orphans bc of it. He'll never stop trying to fix gotham bc of it. He's not ashamed to say it.

This is how he copes with his own Tragic Backstory™. By recognizing how much pain it caused him.

Khoa? He copes with his past by not recognizing how it affected him at all. By pretending it doesn't matter. That he doesn't care.

But Bruce makes it very difficult. He really does know him better than that

(tumblr won't let me put any more images, but just so you know, khoa doesn't tell him that he's right and the case was personal for him. bc he's repressed, you know. Btw go read this comic if you haven't)

So yeah, khoa hates bruce bc he doesn't like the idea of being like him. And that's also the main reason he tries so hard to make bruce leave gotham and his past behind. He's gonna fix this emo boy to prove he has nothing to fix about himself, you know, as you do.

But also bc he just likes bruce and he wants to be vigilantes husbands with him and that won't happen unless one of them admits the other is right about them (and i say "them" bc their self image/beliefs is somewhat linked to the other - at least in khoa's case, bc he's the one who has the full picture of their parallels and won't share it with bruce. But for him, if bruce insists he cares, then he's also implying that khoa cares. And when khoa says he doesn't, he is also fighting for bruce to not care too. Like, one cannot be fully satisfied with their own truth unless the other agrees with them. Khoa just decided they have to be mirrors in all the ways that matter (and also in the ones that don't). Batman has a giant dinosaur in his cave, ghostmaker must have one too. Batman has a batmobile, ghostmaker must have a ghost-racer. Ghostmaker doesn't care about his past - Batman, c'mon baby, be just a little more repressed, will you?)

Btw i need to sleep i think i'm gonna pass out i hate this deranged old man he's my favorite babyboy in the world i hope he has a terrible day tomorrow and my god all i wanted to say is that i don't think he likes using guns for personal reasons he won't admit why am i like this
