I've been really enjoying the @kosmichippie Ultimate Decades Legacy video series over on YouTube. While the traditional decades challenge begins in the 1890s, the ultimate version has you travelling all the way back to 1300 to start. This has inspired me to create a series of CC collections and lookbooks, starting with century by century, then whittling down to era/decade as fashion cycles start turning over more quickly.
First up is the 1300s. I didn't think I'd be able to find many female hairstyles for this century, but I was pleasantly proven wrong. During this period unmarried women wore their hair freely, where as wives and widows were expected to wear their hair either up or cut and covered at all times. Part two will include veils and other headwear, so enjoy these more liberated styles for now. CC links under the cut.

✨hot cockles✨
Tumblr media
“The [carving] depicts a gathered collection of men and women tightly framed within three architectural niches. These courtly figures - some standing, one seated, another two on the floor - are playing a game known in the Middle Ages as Haute Coquille, 'Hot Cockles', or sometimes La Main Chaude, 'The Hot Hand', a jaunty name that masks a rather more sexualised pastime. To play, someone is blindfolded and then spanked.
In the British Museum ivory it is a young man who finds himself kneeling at the centre of the action, his head placed inside the folds of a seated woman's skirt so he cannot see. Despite the small size of the piece his outline is delicately rendered, ghostly beneath the cloth, and we get a sense of the game's erotic potential in the silhouette of his hand, creeping up the woman's left thigh. The act of spanking itself is prefigured in the raised right arms of the two women behind, their exaggerated hands poised to strike him in a pair of flat, slapping swings.
The game finished with the blindfolded figure guessing the identity of his or her slapper by the sting of their spank alone. If they were correct, they would be rewarded with a kiss, as shown at the ivory's upper-right, where a victorious couple quietly smooch among the arches.”

the millburn farm
just a tiny shack with a small outhouse, a farm which, for now, consists of one cow and four little chicks, and a garden for eadith out the back.
i like to think that frederick, being a maker sim, built everything and is planning to add onto it to make more space as the family grows hehe

Isabella of Valois, Duchess of Bourbon
Or… at least a medieval lady based on an image of her. The princess hair is as ever… something I can’t help myself from including.
Isabella (1313 – 26 July 1383) was the Duchess Consort of Bourbon from 1336-1356, after her husband died she "took the veil" (aka became a nun). And this illustration is based off an image of her (supposedly - it's one of those things where I found the image inspiring first and then looked up who it's apparently of so grain of salt as per usual). I had quite a bit of fun with this one, and now that tiktok is recommending costume breakdowns of HoD... it's got the gears starting to turn. BUT I have something else I've started so I have to do that first and see how they do.

Up until the 1300s clothing was relatively functional and basic, but during this century we saw the emergence of formally recognised "fashion". Previously draped garments and straight seams were replaced by curved seams and more fitted silhouettes thanks to the beginnings of tailoring, as well as the introduction of lacing and buttons.

It's the big day! Most of the villagers gathered in the church to witness the wedding of Agnès Leblanc and Robin Lechesne.
The toddler who refused to get out of the frame is little Condors, the daughter of Catherine and Imbert.
