Huge 1999 mansion in Brecksville, Ohio is completely updated and modern inside, but it's the basement that's the star of this home. 4bds, 6ba, $1.999M. The rest of the house's interior architecture doesn't match the exterior Colonial style and it confuses the hell out of me, b/c they partially updated it.

Unusual entrance. This was redone b/c I don't think that the gray/black color scheme was around in 1999. This looks too current.

If nothing else, it was repainted. They've got some classic elements like Greek columns and it's now kind of a mashup- this design confuses me.

Looks like they opened it up to make an open concept floor plan. But, what is this structure? Glass-enclosed wainscoting and rocks.

The living room has a big modern fireplace wall. It looks like the ceiling and everything was originally natural wood that they painted modern white w/a gray insert.

I suspect that the whole house looked like this office with the coffered ceiling and traditional fireplace.

The kitchen was painted black and gray, but they left some of the 90's style wood.

Gigantic primary bedroom. The traditional wood and fireplace now painted black or white.

I get the distinct impression that the majority of the fan base believes that Cyn and the Absolute Solver are one and the same. Some even believing her to have created the Absolute Solver(or worse, believing matpat). I don't believe that myself and the information in the series points to them being separate entities.

To prevent confusion, the timeline I am dealing with here goes: Episode 5 Junkyard scene with Cyn first waking up -> Episode 2 Manor scene with Tessa introducing Cyn -> unknown period of time -> remainder of Manor scenes in Episode 5.

Cyn likely went through a period where she was in complete control of her own faculties. Her movements in episode 2, what little we see, are not the stilted, jerky motions we saw in episode 5. Her motions are smoother and she doesn't have to manually readjust her head. Her movements only become like that of a marionette when total Solver possession takes place. Uzi displays the same behavior in episode 6 when she generates a singularity to save N. The puppet movement does not seem inherent to Cyn, but rather a symptom of Solver possession.

Tessa's statements also lend to Cyn being a separate character. "It took Cyn as a host," and "before she's not herself anymore," imply that Cyn was not always the text-to-speech marionette we see in episode 5. Obviously, Tessa could be an unreliable narrator, but until we know more, its the best information we have. Lastly, the command line text that flashes on Cyn's screen right before she wakes up in the junkyard, explicitly show's a separate entity reaching out to her with an offer.

Her personality and wit are a mix of Meg from Disney's Hercules and Chel from the Road to El Dorado, but she can be kind, sweet, and loving to people she cares about. Just don't make her mad, or your dead body is for dinner.

She runs Hell's music industry and she owns a majority of singers' souls in it, an example being Verosika Mayday. She treats her souls fairly and like they're people instead of possessions, but she won't hesitate to put an ungrateful bitch in their place.

She wouldn't call Alastor a friend, nor an enemy. She is civil when they interact, and she has nothing too personal against Alastor. She just doesn't like his uncaring attitude.

Alastor has no ill will on Vendetta and allows her to run her radio station, as long as she doesn't overstep her boundaries and try to take down/take over his radio station. They even collab on music sometimes, making electro swing works

Vox and her have been dating for eons, she isn't too keen on Valentino, who Vox is friends with benefits with, but tolerates him because of Vox.

Ven despises how Val treats the souls he owns, any of his workers, or even the other Vees, especially Vox.

She tries to keep Val from absolutely pummeling Angel Dust, and if unsuccessful, she treats Angel's wounds and comforts him.

Velvette and her are close, almost like sisters. They hang out and gossip whenever they can.

She makes her own music under her record label, Baphomet Records, playing it on the radio stations, music videos, and at her club.

Her and Niffty are best friends, Ven absolutely adoring Niffty. Niffty thinks she's really fun to hang out with. If you just looked at them together, you'd think they were related, like aunt and niece or mother and daughter.

Ven sometimes visits Rosie and they talk over cannibalistic lunches. Ven likes to buy meat from Rosie's store from time to time. Girl's gotta eat.

Vox and her are very close and very loving to each other. Val may be Vox's fuck buddy, but Ven is his true love.

She has 2 tv shows, including a TRL style show, where she shows the latest music videos. She also has a talk show where she talks about various topics and answers questions asked by viewers, sometimes having interviews and special guests. She even broadcasts the audio on her radio station.

Vox has Val as a fuck buddy, Ven has Zestial. The only difference is that Zestial actually cares about Ven, where Val couldn't give less of a shit about Vox.

She calls Vox 'Voxxy', Velvette 'Vel', Zestial 'Zest' and Valentino 'Mothman', 'Moth-brain', or just 'Asshole'.

one time, she saw Val abuse one of his souls and Ven called him pathetic and weak because he only uses violence to establish dominance instead of using respect. When he hit her in response, she took it like a champ, not even flinching, proving her point.

All of Ven's music equipment was provided by VoxTek. The nightclub even has VoxTek as one of its investors. Vox had offered to give it to her for free, but Ven feels better paying for it to support him. She does get good discounts tho.

But he has told Zestial that if anything happened to him and he wasn't around anymore, he'd trust Zestial to take care of Ven.

When Ven was alive, she witnessed the AIDS epidemic firsthand and lost many friends due to it. When she entered Hell, she was an advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness. She doesn't promote condoms or anything like that (she would, but since who in Hell is gonna use them? Do they even exist down there?), but more like awareness, like 'hey, make sure you know what your partner has before you go and have fun, cuz otherwise your afterlife's gonna suck!' kind of stuff.

Her weapons are the following: An angel spear and an angel gun she took off of a few dead angels from Extermination Day. She easily gets the angel bullets from the black market. She also has a regular 1911 pistol and a silver dagger. She only uses the angel gun for instances where she wants the target to never come back, or absolute emergencies. As to be expected with a year marking the end of a millennium, a lot has happened this year. With Believe, Cher has become one of the few artists to have hits in four different decades. The song is also notable for its use of Auto-Tune. While the software had been used before to stealthily edit vocal performances, Believe cranked up the effect to give Cher's vocals a futuristic, almost otherworldly sound reminiscent of the vocoder.

Speaking of technology, 1999 also marks the release of a little website whose effects on the music industry are still felt today: Napster. With the leak of the MP3 format to the public, sites like Napster made it easy for people to share and download music for free. Maybe this could have been prevented if the record industry was able to use the MP3 themselves, but it's understandable why many were hesitant. The MP3 heavily compressed the sound and traded audio quality for file space. Some people assumed that the general public wouldn't want to sacrifice audio quality in order to get free music.

But there's another reason why the MP3 might have failed to catch on in an industry-approved way. By the late 90's, CD sales were at an all-time high and so were the record industry's profits. The TRL era was in full effect stirring up the teenage fanbases (and anti-fanbases). With artists like Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys (to be featured later), the Max Martin production style could be heard all over the pop charts.

1999 also came with heightened anxiety over the Y2K Bug, the fear that computers wouldn't be able to process dates containing the new year. Obviously the world didn't end at the dawn of the new millennium, but that was due to the efforts of people working behind the scenes to prevent these errors. Because of their efforts, life would be able to continue on in the year 2000.

But maybe not for the record industry.

I was tagged by @ghuleh-recs and @can-of-pringles for the three facts thing.

1. Mid-Aughts, I worked in Television Production in NYC. At the MTV Times Square Building. Yes, where they filmed TRL. My main job consisted of collecting betamax tapes for producers and editors. Yes, deep underground Times Square there is a vault that houses everything ever aired on MTV and its networks since the mid80s. On hundreds of thousands of betamax tapes that some intern has to haul up. I wonder if it's still there.

2. I love fish and aquariums. It was my dream to have a koi pond since I was a child. I managed to get one now and it's a lovely wild pond that my partner and I have been working on for 5 years now. It was an ugly sludge hole when we bought the place and now it's a thriving ecosystem full of koi, frogs, snakes and even crawfish.

3. I started writing when I was 11. Of course it was HP fanfiction (starring basically a female version of HP surprise surprise). I won a newspaper contest for my writing and it was published which made 11 year old me very happy. My favorite fanfic I ever wrote until now was published anonymously to Fanfiction.net when I was 18. It was a retelling of Pride and Prejudice except with the plot of the Japanese survival horror film Battle Royale. I was proud of how I got Austen's writing voice down pretty well. Basically Mr. Collins turns out to be a psycho that entraps the girls and forces them to battle to the death for Mr. Darcy or their locking necklaces he gifted them explodes their heads. There was no tag system so I enjoyed how people were surprised when Mr. Bennet's head suddenly blew off his body and the game began. I need to find this fic now.
