I know this doesn't mean much to most of you, but 15 years ago today my city went through an unspeakable tragedy.

Terrorists took a hotel hostage, a train station, a hospital. And my mom, that brilliant, beautiful woman got up the next day and went to work while the attacks were still happening, less than a kilometre away from it.

We all lost someone that day. Even though I was a child, I lost my innocence. They made us do drills in school the following years, they taught us to cover ourselves with our dead classmates bodies so we might survive.

I just want to say, to all the martyrs that lost their lives that day, police officers, hotel staff, guests, that we remember. We will never forget.
