So, I have been eyeing feature phones for a while since I kind of want to get off my smartphone.

This came in the mail today:

It's a Nokia 225 and has pretty much nothing but SMS and calling options. Typing is a pain even with T9, but I honestly do not text much in the first place.

My plan for now and the next days is the following:

Leave smartphone at home

Listen to music from iPod

Text/chat via Signal (laptop)

Check emails also from the laptop

Do anything internetty from a computer (Strava, Garmin, Duolingo, Goodreads)

Embrace the fact that people are not very much in personal contact in the first place

Read (even) more and also

Start doing the uni work!!1! (Laptop/library)

No WiFi in our village because of a lightning strike nearby during the thunderstorm today that caused a power cut and made someone’s house catch fire! Thankfully to my knowledge everyone is ok, but now the entire village has been disconnected from internet while they fix everything, and I’m getting reports that it could take up to FIVE days…. 😱

i think next year could be my flip phone year for real. if i just believe

#my contract runs out in january #but my current phone still works just fine so i think if like i just outright bought one of the 4g nokias #knowing i still had a smartphone to switch back to if it got too inconvenient would be helpful i think #even like having the choice of both depending on the situation might be good #becsuuuuuuuse genuinely theres so much i love and appreciate about having a smartphone and all its conveniences #i just am sick of sinking into it so much #so i think still having onr as a backup but not having Just that with me everywhere sll the time. would be good

Maybe it's confirmation bias, or the conspiracy worms getting into my brain, but I feel like 5G is such an unreliable technology. Like, there are times when my phone has full bars 5G, and shit will just immediately fail to load. It won't even try. I never had that issue on LTE, especially at the rate I see it with 5G. LTE just worked, and for some reason, 5G is so spotty and inconsistent.

trying not to believe they turnt the Internet off before they left for work. 😒

#Absolutely something my dad's wife would demand.#Keep in mind this is the same woman who took away my laptop in highschool after I missed one work assignment.#Whatever. I am using 4G.#I noticed it was off before they left and then I woke up to see I had a text from my dad telling me the Internet is off at 6 am.#Y'all I could literally just use my phone (as I am now) or play the sims 2 all day or read or #Like. It's not the Internet that kept me from going to work #Or kept me awake for to long that made me ''tired'' (I even got the correct amount of sleep)#My mental health is just shit.#And yes I already planned on going to work today.#So it's not like I was going to stay home to begin with?#When I call out it is for a day.#And yeah. I already called out earlier this month after Covid #But that's cause I was still feeling the effects of Covid.#Do cameras need a wifi connection?#If so.
