Investing.com – The People’s Bank of China set the yuan parity rate against the dollar at 6.4920 on Wednesday, compared to the previous close of 6.4949.

The China Foreign Exchange Trade System sets the weighted average of prices given by market makers. The highest and lowest offers are excluded from the calculation. The central bank allows the dollar/yuan rate to move no more than 2% above or below the central parity rate.

Market watchers see a yuan level of 7 against the dollar, , as a key touchstone for sentiment in the near term.

Episode 1: Yeah, Let’s Spark the Flame! (Part 2)

KASAI: AND ANOTHER THING- oh, wait, is that…

KASAI and RAIKO’s attention divert to a small object in a clear container on top of the cabinet

KASAI: THE METEORITE!! It’s right here! How did I not notice it earlier?

RAIKO: Meteorite? Is that what got you in here?

YANZO explains the situation as he understands it to RAIKO as KASAI gets the meteorite from atop the cabinet

YANZO: Yeah. That thing crashed down on the outskirts of Conveyor Town, and since we were all at the landing site, we were knocked out and taken here. Well, that’s why Mizuro and I were knocked out at least, this idiot tripped and snapped his neck on that stupid space rock he’s going so crazy for.

KASAI: HEY!

MIZURO: Speak for yourself, I didn’t even see our captors until I woke up.

YANZO(smug): Oh? Sorry, I thought you were tall enough to look over the crater and see them coming a mile away. My bad.

MIZURO(mockingly): Oh really? It’s a wonder they even knew you were there at all with how short you are! Maybe they mistook you for a mouse and happened to knock you out after trying to kick you away!

There’s a small silence and YANZO chuckles a bit, leading to MIZURO letting one out too. Eventually, the whole group is laughing up a storm. A passing guard notices the laughter and enters the room, expecting to see their fellow co-workers cracking jokes

L.L.GUARD#42863: HEY GUYS, WHAT’S Uuuuu…

KASAI: …

YANZO: …

RAIKO: …

MIZURO: …

Cue intro

The GUARD quickly draws their gun and tries to aim it at the closest person in the room, KASAI. RAIKO dives for the gun and aims it upwards. As the others descend on the GUARD he forcefully pulls the gun back out of RAIKO’s grip, scraping the metal against her palm and cutting it. RAIKO lets out a small scream while reaching for KASAI’s meteorite. Grabbing the meteorite with her injured hand, as the guard tries to realign his sights, she swings it with adrenaline-fueled might and hits the GUARD over the head. RAIKO’s attack leaves the GUARD stunned as MIZURO dashes in to pin him against the wall, pressing his forearm to the GUARD’s neck. YANZO notices that RAIKO looks dazed and somehow lost her balance with that swing. He catches her as she’s falling, but due to his lack of strength, he struggles a bit before fully stopping her descent. KASAI sees the GUARD about to press a Conveniently Placed Button™ on his suit and goes to knock him out, but by the time his hit lands, the GUARD had already pressed the button. The alarms blare endlessly as the corridors and rooms of the facility are illuminated by the flashing red emergency lights

KASAI: SHIT!

MIZURO: WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE, GET MOVING!//

YANZO: I COULD USE A LITTLE HELP HERE!//

KASAI: WHAT HAPPENED TO HER!?//

YANZO: I DUNNO, MAN! SHE FAINTED AFTER HITTING THE GUARD!//

KASAI: OH THAT’S JUST GREAT!//

MIZURO: WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS! I’LL CARRY HER, YOU TWO GO!//

YANZO: GO WHERE?!//

MIZURO: JUST RUN DOWN THE HALL, I’LL BE RIGHT BEHIND YOU!//

KASAI: NO TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT, C’MON!//

With an ease that surprises even himself, MIZURO lifts RAIKO’s unconscious body up and over his right shoulder and catches up with KASAI and YANZO

KASAI: WOAH, YOU’RE WAY STRONGER THAN YOU LOOK!

MIZURO: WE’LL TALK ABOUT IT LATER, NOW TURN RIGHT!

As they turn the corner they’re blocked off by a squad of MID-LEVEL GUARDS. They quickly turn around and try to go the other way, but suddenly another group of MID-LEVEL GUARDS block off that path too. Soon they are surrounded by MID-LEVEL GUARDS

KASAI: NOW WOULD BE A GREAT TIME FOR THAT VOICE TO COME BACK!!!

M.L.GUARD#64920: PUT YOUR HANDS UP OR WE WILL SHOOT!

Seeing no way out of the situation, KASAI, YANZO, and MIZURO(with his free hand) all comply. As the MID-LEVEL GUARDS close in, YANZO suddenly suffers from an intense headache and quickly slams his fists to the ground, causing super-thick vines to erupt from the ground, blocking off the MID-LEVEL GUARDS

MIZURO: NICE MOVE, BUT NOW WHAT!?

M.L.GUARD#64920: NOW, YOU DIE! MEN, OPEN FIRE!!!

As the MID-LEVEL GUARDS fire blindly at the group, the floor beneath the group crumbles and they fall down a sort of dirt slide into what seems to be a very crudely dug out cave that’s covered in the same vines YANZO summoned and only goes in one direction

KASAI(impressed): Hey hey heeey! Why didn’t you tell us you could do that earlier!? That was AWESOME!!

YANZO(still suffering from his headache): I didn’t KNOW I could do this earlier! And could you try to lower your volume a bit, my head is fucking KILLING me!

Upon hearing this, an epiphany starts to form in KASAI’s mind

KASAI: A headache, you said?

YANZO: Yeah, so if you could-//

KASAI: And you say that you didn’t have these powers before, yeah?

YANZO: Yes, but seriously just give me some silen-//

KASAI: HEY!//

YANZO lets out a quick yelp of pain from KASAI stimulating his headache

KASAI: Back when we were surrounded in the crater, did you touch the meteorite!? Do you remember how you were knocked out!?

YANZO(pain): GRAAH! Yes, I touched it and no, I don’t remember but seriously shut u-//

KASAI: IT WAS THE METEORITE!!! IT REALLY DID GIVE ME POWERS!!! AW, HELL YEAH!!!//

YANZO: SHUT UP!!!

KASAI: Woah, hey, what’s got your panties in a bunch?

YANZO: Oh, I dunno, maybe the SPLITTING HEADACHE I’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS ENTIRE TIME! THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST PAIN I’VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE! EVER!! SO I’D APPRECIATE SOME GOD-DAMN QUIET!!!

The room falls silent for a moment as KASAI, still stunned by YANZO’s sudden outburst, thinks about what to say

KASAI: Oh yeah, the headache... sorry.

YANZO: (deep exhale) No, no, I get it, you were excited about your new “revelation”. It’s fine, the headache’s already worn down anyway, just try to have some patience next time, okay?

RAIKO emits a sloven groan

RAIKO(fading into consciousness): nnnooooo… don’t let him off the hooook…

KASAI: Wow, even unconscious she wants to see me suffer.

RAIKO(drifting back into unconsciousness): sufferrrrrr…

MIZURO: We need to get going, those vines up there will only last us so long.

YANZO: Right, let’s go.

KASAI, MIZURO & YANZO run as fast as they can. As they’re running for what seems to be an eternity, KASAI decides to question MIZURO about his strength again.

KASAI: Hey, Zamu, I’d think now’s as good of a time as any to talk about your surprising amount of strength?

MIZURO: Ah, yes, that. You see, funny thing, I actually don’t know much about it either. I was sure I’d be able to carry Raiko, but I didn’t think I’d have such an easy time doing it -not to say that I’d thought she’d be heavy or anything- I just don’t consider myself to be very strong or athletic.

KASAI: You think this might be tied to the meteorite too?

MIZURO: It’s likely. Think about it, you, Yanzo, and I are all moving at comparably ridiculous speeds, right? Right now, I’d say we’re moving about as fast as Usain Bolt did in his prime.

KASAI: Who-sane whatnow?

YANZO: Usain Bolt, you dolt. Fastest pre-power Olympic runner on Earth. Didn’t you learn anything in History?

KASAI: I only really paid attention to recent history and past wars.

YANZO: Wha- he IS recent history, the guy only died 85 years ago!

KASAI: Oh… W-WELL IT DOESN’T MATTER ANYWAY! WHAT MATTERS IS THAT OUR NATURAL ABILITIES HAVE BEEN ENHANCED, OKAY!?

The tunnel begins to shake and rumble as sounds of grinding machinery approach. KASAI, MIZURO & YANZO look around frantically as the shaking gets more and more intense, quickly reaching the intensity of a strong earthquake

MIZURO: It looks like your dismissal of Usain Bolt has displeased him, and he has come to make you repent.//

YANZO: Repent.//

RAIKO(slovenly): repeeent…!

KASAI: NOW’S NOT THE TIME FOR JOKES, STAY ON GUARD!

As the quaking gets more and more intense, KASAI, MIZURO, & YANZO brace themselves for its approaching origin. They can feel it getting that much closer by the second. A drill head pierces through the ceiling of the tunnel, abruptly stopping its rotation just as it does. There’s a moment of pause

KASAI: You think it got damaged on the way here?

Just then the tunnel ceiling collapses where the drill head was poking out from. As the dust settles, an armored drill mech is revealed to be the group’s next adversary. YANZO recognizes the logo proudly displayed on the mech suit’s foreboding torso

YANZO: Ah shit! Guys, we’re in big trouble!

MIZURO: Care to elaborate?!

YANZO: My dad owns the company that makes those things; it’s pretty much impossible to get through its armor! Even its own drills would have trouble getting through, and those things are no joke!

KASAI: Oh that’s fantastic, so now we gotta find a way to fight an indestructible opponent!

The mech begins its slow approach, carrying its ground-shaking mechanical mass as it moves forwards

YANZO: It’s not indestructible, just really hard to destroy! The joints of its arms are made of a really conductive material, so if we can find some way to shock its system then it’ll be out of commission and we’ll be able to take out whoever’s piloting it!

As they’re talking, the mech’s arm rears back as the mech itself cools down by letting loose some steam, only for the arm to launch forwards towards KASAI with great force. KASAI just barely manages to dive out of the way as the impact from the drill hitting the ground causes the tunnel to quake. MIZURO, KASAI, & YANZO are all thrown off balance

KASAI: That’s great and all, but how the hell are we going to zap it in the first place!? In case you hadn’t noticed, our living taser is kind of KNOCKED OUT!

RAIKO(mumbling): mmm… keep it dowwwn… tryin’ tuh.. sleee…

YANZO: GOOD QUESTION!

MIZURO(a good distance away from the action): Don’t worry you two, I’ll come up with something to get us out of this!

The fight goes on for a bit with KASAI & YANZO incapable of even scratching the mechanical behemoth before them. As MIZURO watches from a distance, trying to keep RAIKO safe, his expression changes from intense thought to an odd mixture of worry and resolution

MIZURO: Not looking forward to the headache, but it’s now or never!

MIZURO gingerly places RAIKO down, propping her against the tunnel wall, and cracks his neck

MIZURO: C’mon powers, show me what I got!

As the mech is pulling its arm back from its last attack, MIZURO runs towards the mech at full speed

MIZURO: IF I PUT MYSELF IN PERIL, THEN IT’S BOUND TO COME OUT!!!

KASAI: What the- ZAMU WHAT’RE YOU DOING?!

MIZURO: GETTING US OUT OF THIS MESS-

The mech swings its arm with great ferocity and power, sending MIZURO flying like a baseball at a Mets game. The mech continues to take swings at YANZO & KASAI

YANZO: So much for that!

KASAI: Oh yeah, great plan Einstein! Throw yourself at the mech and see what sticks!

MIZURO: No, you don’t GET it, you both awakened some sort of power while in stressful situations! I’m sure that if I put myself in peril here I’ll awaken mine too, then we can get out of here!

YANZO: You’re banking on something that we don’t know anything about in a situation like this?!

MIZURO: Well do YOU have a better plan!?

YANZO: Anything’s better than throwing the fight!//

MIZURO: I’M NOT THROWING!//

KASAI: WHAT ELSE COULD YOU POSSIBLY CALL THIS!? YOU’RE THROWING!

MIZURO(pissed): NO! I’M!! NOOOOOOOOT!!!

MIZURO dashes towards the mech again, this time with a grand animosity in his eyes. With all the pent up anger and aggression flowing through him, MIZURO dodges the incoming drill stab and runs right up to the cockpit full speed ahead

MIZURO(still pissed): HOW’S THIS FOR THROWING!?

MIZURO jumps up and rears back his fist to strike the cockpit with all of his might, letting loose all of his frustration. As his fist collides with the glass, all that’s heard is a light knock, which is quickly drowned out by the whirring of the mech’s drill hands. MIZURO is too shocked by the ineffectiveness of his attack to feel the intense pain in his hand

MIZURO(shaken): W-What!? Nothing?! You’ve gotta be kidding me!

As MIZURO goes on, the mech starts recovering from its earlier jab attack. The left-arm draws back as the right forearm of the mech is used to pin MIZURO to the wall

MIZURO(confused): It doesn’t make any sense, why didn’t my powers come out!?

KASAI: WHAT’RE YOU DOING, DUMBASS!? GET OUT OF THERE!

YANZO: HE’S GOING TO KILL YOU!! MOVE!!!

MIZURO cannot hear KASAI and YANZO yelling at him; he is too caught up in his “failure”. As the left arm rears back and starts spinning, the mech lets some steam loose, and MIZURO looks up at the mech with a building sense of dread

MIZURO(frozen with frantic eyes): Just one measly underestimation was all it took? Am I already done for?

As the arm comes down on MIZURO a flash of blinding yellow light comes out of nowhere, stopping the mech in its tracks and knocking it back enough for MIZURO to fall out of its pin

RAIKO: Damn, I go to take a power nap and you dumbasses get yourselves into a mess like this? I knew you guys would be totally useless!

RAIKO, glowing with a significantly more intense light than before(Ep.1 Pt.1), emits a large blast of electricity, frying the mech entirely

RAIKO: Lucky enough for you, I’m here.
